* Based on Epson calculations, average cost per page saving and average number of inkjet cartridges required to print the same number of pages as EcoTank “102” and “104” ink bottles. Comparison between average yield (A4 prints of ISO/IEC 24711) of EcoTank “102” and “104” bottles and the genuine consumables used within the 50 best-selling inkjet cartridge printers (for Germany, France, UK, Spain and Italy Apr-19 – Mar 2020). Cost per page calculated with reference to the average printing costs for EcoTank “102” and “104” bottles and amongst these top 50 models, calculated by dividing the relevant bottle/cartridge sales revenue and total yield by unit sales (for Germany, France, UK, Spain and Italy Apr-19 – Mar 2020).
** Quoted yields are extrapolated based on Epson original methodology from the print simulation of Test Patterns provided in ISO/IEC 24712. Quoted yields are NOT based on ISO/IEC24711. Quoted yields may vary depending on the images that you are printing, the paper type that you are using, the frequency of your prints and environmental conditions such as temperature. During the initial printer setup, a certain amount of ink is used to fill the print head’s nozzles, therefore the yield of the initial bundled set can be lower.

Owned this for more then 6 months and its reliable and very cheap to print. I have had 3 HP printers break on me in 2 years and have spent hundreds on ink. With this new ink refill system it’s so cheap to print, the quality is good. I will never go back to HP printers. Connectivity is flawless on iPhone and iPad.
Although I guessed it would print, copy and scan ok, I was worried about changing my printer because of the quality of photographs I was used to. I can confirm that the standard of photographs printed on this is EXCELLENT, don’t know why I was worried now. Can certainly recommend this printer for all tasks.
After a succession of HP printers this Epson EcoTank 4750 is a revelation. No more ludicrously overpriced HP print cartridges , no more battling with a seized machine when non-original ‘fully compatible’ cheaper makes are used. This Epson machine just keeps going and going, with the ink tank levels visible and hardly dropping from week to week, despite some resonably heavy household usage. Highly recommended.
When our Brother printer packed in, we just couldn’t go out and buy anything to replace it. So went searching around shops on the High Street, but disappointed a the poor choice, and lack of knowledge of the shop staff. We found one in a famous store, which we thought would be suitable, but couldn’t buy it off the shop floor, and was advised to go to their other shops to see if they had one in stock. Decided not to bother, we came home and started to look online. Fortunately Amazon had the perfect one, even though it was a bit dearer than we had in mind, this was suitable, so ordered it. We don’t regret it, and the saving on inks is incredible.
Likes…fast printing. Quick response to mobile or pc wireless printing. Quick copier. Compact.
Dislikes…slow scanner speed. Lots of software that are doing same function. A little noisy.
got this at a discount from Amazon Warehouse. I do hope the ink refill system will prove to be a cheaper running cost. Haven’t over used the printer yet but I can see that the ink levels have gone down but not by much. Photo printing looks really good. On the negative side, printing over wifi can sometimes require the printer to be physically switched off/on again, and I have had a paper jam and also some scrunched paper output… Haven’t used the scanner as I have a separate scanner. All in all, early days but it seems a good buy.
First the negatives, the plastic is very cheap, some parts feel like recycled, Black-dyed Margarine tub lids! it doesn’t inspire confidence in its robustness. Touch screen is a bit fiddly, too small.
Now the good which is most of it.. it prints crisply, quickly, easy to set up. Easy to fill. Tip: Order the maintenance box (waste tank) at the same time C13T04D100, under a tenner. One day you will need a print and it will refuse as the box is full. If you have a spare to hand you will be up and running in minutes.
Comes with two full sets of ink, huge number of prints.
By default, it kept moaning about wrong paper types, when you stick a sheet of photo paper on top of the tray and send a photo-paper print to it, it complains its got plain paper in and you need to change it, I know, I put a sheet of photo in, get on with it! Eventually I found a setting to disable this annoyance.
Colour matching is much better than my previous Epsons, photos come out realistically.
Its not a cheap purchase but Epson used to sell printers at a loss and make the money on cartridges but 3rd party cheap cartridges made that less viable for them. This new strategy of selling printers at profitable prices and offering cheap ink costs instead is much better. It means there is no excuse not to use genuine inks that give superior printing and protect the heads from clogging better than cheap copy ones.
Happy chappy so far.
Up and running within half an hour of delivery. Simple to set up – just follow the easy to follow instructions. Downloaded the Epsom App to my MacBook (no disk or usb connection required) and off we went. Prints from iPhone and iPad without any further installations or Apps. Brilliant! Needed some firmware updates, but does that you over your Wi-fi connection. Paper feeder has lots more storage capacity than most other home printers I looked at. Quite excited just how long the ink supplies will last. Comes with 2 bottles of each colour (full bottles – not your demo samples that come with.cartridge printers. It doesn’t take much to work out how much more economical printing will be over several years, more than justifying the initial cost.. Idiot proof ink bottles are dead easy to load into the tanks – absolutely no mess or spills. Very pleased with print speed, print quality and the fact it will automatically double side print – very few home printers now do that! Completely happy with this purchase.
This is cheapest coloured printer. One of the most negative point is very slow to print or scan. Also when we scan you can figure it out different coloured then original, where as when you scan with HP printer it scans copy to copy. looks exactly the same as original documents. People who doesn’t required quality may this one is the best.
I replaced my 13 year old Epson with the ET-4750. I am a low user and just use it for printing documents or scanning. I like the printer colour tanks and filling system. Wireless system was easy to connect, and everything about the printer is accessible online. I will never use the fax either. But the price was 60 cheaper than other outlets. I have no problems to report.
This printer replaced my previous, the Canon Pixma MG6350. Years of problems with that one connecting, it took literally minutes to warm up for a single print. When you have kids and want pictures etc printed out fast it causes many issues. The ink was also prohibitively expensive, and ran out ludicrously quickly.
The Epson is wonderful. I recommend watching a couple of YouTube reviews /unboxing as they demonstrate the simple ink filling process which ultimately is pretty satisfying. The cost benefit is ridiculously good. Thousands of colour and b&q print outs for the included ink? Incredible.
The software is often a failing with printers but Epsons is (admittedly without bells and whistles) simple and reliable. There are apps to print from you phone and I have had no issues a few months in using it for personal work, for kids print out pictures of things they like and for documents. I haven’t used the photo print at all really, I just find the cost and ease of getting photos done professionally outweighs the benefit of home printing but for incredibly fast printing, copying, scanning this has it all. It’s not cheap but amortised over say 5 years especially with the ink pricing, and this will end up cheaper than printers that up front cost half or less.
And it has a fax too should you ever need it for important documents!
I am over the moon with it, it’s a wonderful machine. It does what a printer should do, and that for some reason is all too difficult, we’ve all had the same issues (finding the printer, cloud connection, troubleshooting paper jams and ink issues, cost of ink) this honestly has been the solution I’ve been looking for. Superb.
Ordered this printer as fed up with expensive cartridges so decided to go with the Epson ink tank system. Really easy to set up and utilise, worked right out of the box with my Apple iPads and Mac. Very pleased with the ease of printing from any of my devices and the Epson comes with connectivity from anywhere via the net, the unit even has its own email address to send items to. I haven’t used too much colour printing to date but what I have seen is good. More expensive than normal cartridge printers but I think it will pay for its self and very pleased with the purchase.
Print quality way better then my last printer. Colour is not always spot on. Does everything it states and so far no issues with it. Much better then cartridges. Easy to set up and use.
At last the manufacturers have realised that printer ink is too expensive. This Epson printer is costly but the ink is cheap. It is quite fast, scanner works ok, Last scanner corrected any misaligned paper feed, this one doesn’t seem to do that so you can get copies off the straight. I have the fax version just in case someone needs to send one. Overall a capable multifunction device. Would recommend.
I’ve only used the printer as I don’t need the other functions. I print and sell my own greetings cards and this is perfect for that. It takes 300gsm card stock with ease. The print quality is very good. Easy to install. Filling the ink tank was very straightforward. My only disappointment is the paper tray which could be a lot better. There is a guide to adjust the paper width size but I think more thought could have gone into its design. When using smaller sized card, it’s not easy to keep an eye on it when the printer takes it from the paper tray as you would have to pull the whole thing out almost to check on it. There’s no manual feed. I also would have liked a deeper tray. But that is my only gripe. I’ve not had a paper jam yet and it has managed to pick up the card very well.
This thing is remarkable. We’re a family of 5, and the printer gets light/medium use. 2 years and 1 month after purchase, and I’ve just done the first ink change, using the spare bottles that came with it! So, over 4 years before I have to buy ink. Blooming brilliant Epson.
Relatively easy to install, & great we won’t have to worry about ink for the next few years. It’s a lot quieter than the hp printer it replaced, but the black isn’t quite a black, however it’s perfectly acceptable. I’ve yet to try photo printing or different papers but hopefully they’ll all work. Setup was a bit longwinded having to tell between lots of different lines which ones lined up the best but only needed to do once, & sometime I’ll get around to setting all my various paper sizes for easy change between them. It does ask for paper size each time you change but i think that can be turned off. I’m leaving it as its a reminder & the quick settings make the change easier. Glad I bought the touchscreen version 4750
This arrived today and I have installed it using the instructions provided. Although the process was about an hour long, it was clear and logical and every step explained as I went along. The printer works quickly and efficiently. Other reviewers have mentioned the thin plastics and fragile parts. It will have to be handled with care, but, hopefully the inside bits are robust enough to work as they should. The ink went in as it should and I look forward to printing what I want when I want and not worrying about cartridges any more. I am pleased with it so far.
Great printer…does what it says on the tin…print quality excellent. The only ‘con’ is that, sometimes, it can take a long time from pressing ‘print’ to the machine actually printing…you think there’s a problem but then, after a a couple of minutes, it decides to get on with it…but, overall, very good. No problem with double sided printing or copying…
The printer was purchased for a home office. I needed to have an auto document feed for the scanner. I also chose this because of the refillable ink.
It was very easy to setup and once connected to my network my PC found the printer and installed it.
I have been using it for a few days now and it is fast, quiet and reliable.
I bought this Epson Ecotank ET4750 when it was on am Amazon deal for 270. I then was able to claim 40 cashback directly from Epson, by using my Amazon receipt. So, all-in-all this printer cost me 230.
For the price I paid for it, it is an excellent printer. The print quality was poor to start with, but if you adjust the print quality to “High quality” in settings, the print quality is very good (albeit you sacrifice speed). I also find the ink bottles easy to fill, each being 1/7th of the cost of an equivalent number of cartridges. So the bottles of ink in this machines equals 100s of savings straight away. You also save paper by printing double-sided. The ADF is useless for me, and I prefer the scanning glass method.
Overall, it was a steal for 230, and the most important thing is peace of mind. I can print without fear of finishing the ink cartridges after printing only 10 pages; I can print how much I want, which is psychologically worth paying upfront for the printer. Also, I can use my printer when I need to, without splashing out 50 on cartridges because the ink tanks dont dry out.
This is one of the only reviews I’ll do, it’s that worth it.
I bought this printer because I am tired of using printers where the Ink Cartridges cost and arm and a leg and last no time at all! This printer is very small but it works brilliantly and the ink lasts sooooo long! I bought it over three months ago, for my business, and the ink is only 1/4 used in all that time. The replacement ink bottles are also much cheaper than normal cartridges! Really pleased with it – HIGHLY recommended. It is a bit more than a usual printer to buy in the first place but totally worth it. We have saved the cost of the printer in ink cost savings already!
Had this printer for a few weeks now. It’s a good workhorse machine.
Likes
– good for large documents.
– duplex printing is useful
– print quality is very good on both documents and photos (I was pleasantly surprised)
– scanner with Scan Smart software works very well
– reliable so far
Dislikes
– output tray seems a little flimsy
– ADF can only feed single side scans
– fairly slow output but that doesn’t really worry me
– menu is touchscreen but feels a little cumbersome to navigate, particularly if you’re changing papers
– initial setup consumed a lot of ink (almost 1/8 of the black, less of colours) but the bottles hold so much compared with cartridges that isn’t really an issue. And there’s a spare set supplied so I won’t run out for a very long time!
I got the printer because of the duplex scanning and it’s been good so far. Printing is quick enough and really good quality. The android app stopped connecting so may need to reinstall hence the 4 stars.
I purchased this product just over a year ago as l was getting really fed up with my Brother printer which seemed to requiring print cartridges every month, so l took the plunge and purchased this unit, it has been excellent so far l have not had to buy replacement ink for it and i use it everyday at work, print quality is ok although l do not use it for photos or images, l have been so happy with it l purchased another one in May of 2019 and it has also been excellent. Ink wise for documents it has been very economical in use. 5 stars
My trusty Canon inkjet finally gave up the ghost earlier in the week, so it was time to search for a new printer. I used Which, online forums & customer reviews on Amazon. I was tempted to go for a laser printer but decided against due to cost considerations. I’ve always been fascinated by the Epson Ecotank system so I eventually decided to buy the 4750.
As always, delivery by DPD was excellent & after carefully unpacking it I set about setting it up. Filling the ink tanks was straightforward & I then started the electronic set up using my laptop. All went well until I reached “printer discovery” where, after a considerable time, I received the message that no printer could be found. The installation software then gave me the option to use my router’s WPS button & very quickly the setup was complete.
All of the software quickly updated & phones & tablets now have the Epson iPrint App & all print easily. The quality is superb & printing is both faster and quieter than my old Canon. I love the way that the ink bottles automatically stop filling the reservoirs once they are full.
So am I happy with my Epson? Too right I am & as long as it doesn’t suffer any of the faults previously reported on Amazon then I will continue to be ecstatic.
PS After writing this review I discovered that the 4750 qualified for an additional 2 years warranty on top of the original 1-year warranty. Application via the Epson website was straightforward & I now have a 3-year warranty. I’m happier than ever.
First and foremost, the ink costs. I’ve had this 2 years now, and I’ve just used a single black bottle. The other 3 tanks, the colours, are still around 70% full. The ink provided will last me 4 or more years, and even when I have to re-fill, the cost of the bottles are amazing value.
My previous printer was a photo-printer , the Epson XP-750, and the print quality, even for non-photos, was excellent. However, it did get through ink, even though I printed very few pictures. The cost of genuine cartirdges was apallingly high. So I reverted to compatible cartridges. After a few months I found I had to clean my print heads as the output got stripey, and then that happened more and more until the heads were unusable. The printer had to be thrown away after a few years, I don’t know how much the use of compatible cartridges influenced that, but whatever, the printer was gone.
Another hate of my old printer was that for photo quality it had 6 cartridges. It would nag me to replace a cartridge, and the next day would nag me to replace another one. Then another. The cartridges didn’t seem to hold much ink, and what ink they did hold seemed to evaporate. I seemed to be continually changing cartridges, one at a time, and of course continually cleaning the heads to get decent quality.
So at least with this Epson I can use genuine cartridges, a great price, and only refill very occasionally (as I say, after 2 years I’ve just refilled the black tank).
Why only 4 star?
The print quality is not very good on its standard setting (the setting where they boast 6000 pages for one bottle of ink and the speed of output). It is quite faint. So you have to set the Windows print quality to “High Quality”, which means it prints relatively slowly and you’ll never reach the 6000 pages of print on one bottle. Usually I’m in no hurry, but it can be annoying waiting sometimes. At least with “High Quality” I get the quality print I want.
The Automated Document Feeder works as well as found on other printers I’ve owned — i.e. it doesn’t. If I try 2 or more sheets, it usually jams and I’ve tried everything to make it work reliably.
The photo prints aren’t nearly as good as on my previous Epson, although to be fair, that was a photo printer. But hey, who prints photos these days? The print quality for photos is “good enough”, but if I ever want a real high quality print, then I can order these on-line as and when I need them.
So all in all, a very good printer, a bit slow, photos only average, but it’s removed all my frustrations on ink usage and head cleaning.
This printer has replaced an HP one which I had for a few years but this one is much better – the print qualty and ink costs are much better. It can print on both sides which is also great. I am also surprised to see it can print to the edge of the paper as well.
No issues found yet but it is still just a few weeks since it was installed.
Very pleased with this printer. Easy to set up. Decent print quality for documents, probably better than my old Canon. It’s not a dedicated photo printer, but they turn out OK for the kids. If you need more than that you probably know that already. Very quick printing documents single sided, quite slow double sided, very slow for photos.
The best thing is that it’s been really reliable in maintaining connection with all the devices in the house. No more, printer is offline, or can’t see the printer… I was getting fed up of providing tech support to the whole family who could never print to the old Canon.
Expensive, but it sips ink like a pensioner loitering in Weatherspoons on a wet Tuesday morning, so based on the amount of printing the kids do I think it should pay for itself.
Just installed – very easy, step by step instructions.
Some of the touch screen are very small and go right to the edges of the screen, so you’d need a stylus pen if you have larger fingers.
It’s fussier than my last Epson printer when sensing paper types, but I soon got the hang of which ones to choose.
Print quality seems very good so far.
Most attractive feature for me was the inclusive ink deal.
It is not the best quality printer. You can print a lot with the bottle of the ink but the stats on the box are not clear (advert stunt). Standard quality printing will print 6 pages per minute. but the letters printed are not like they should be (printer is perfectly calibrated), lots of anomalies. High-quality printing is max. 2 pages per minute, and that’s the quality that should be standard. Paper trey can hold up to 250 sheets, but to make it work it need to be less then 200. If you put more then 200 sheet, paper will be dameged and often will jam inside the printer.
This ia a fantastic printer. I aonized about whether to get it or not. I had a Kyocera colour laser printer that was too bulky but was worried that if I change to inkjet the quality might go down and that ink will be expensive. I could not have been more wrong. The printer is easy to set up and use, it is reliable and the print quality is good. the ink tank is so easy and mess free to use and you can easily see how much ink is left. I have had this printer for over 4 months now and the ink tank was still at near full. this morning I printed a 318 page document and all ink levels are still really high. The copy and scan funciton are handy to have and again work well. I highly recommend this printer.
I gave this a 5 star rating. This printer ticked all the boxes. Print quality and ease of use and the improvements that have been made left my old ink tank printer standing. Having only 4 colours, I thought that the print quality of photos would be poor, however I was wrong. They are sharp, true in colour and very slightly down on those printed on my Cannon Photo printer. Although it took me a little time to set up, now that it is up and running, I am very pleased with my purchase.
Printer is fine, but what does really annoy me is the amount of connectivity everything has and this printer is no different, emails about this and emails about that, why?
Why can’t it just be a good printer like it is.
My days of replacing the bloody cartridges are over. Most of us have families and kids print a lot more than we do. I bought this about a year ago after my Kodak printer was frustrating me with ink cartridges being replaced every two weeks and fourth pages of print. When the print head dies on me I decided to do some research and came up with this. I put in the inks some 1 year ago and the ink has not. Dropped more than a smidge and I have been through four rims of paper so far . Kids are happy that daddy is not complaining and I can live witn it. Print quality is great unless you are looking to print money….it’s a small reasonable size printer / scanner/ photo copier and despite my computer not having an wifi card it’s practical,to connect it using Ethernet or a seperate cable directly to the computer via a USB to c cable…printing is crisp enough for me and the e tea ink is a fantastic boon. I will probably die before the ink runs out….can’t say I have printed any photos but I recon they will be good enough. Real, value for money. It does connect up wit wifi to all our devices including smart panhandle nes and epson provides facilities where your documents will be printed from where ever you are in the world straight to the printer. That’s actually worth while.
This is a great printer, I got the one with the three years worth of ink (2 sets of ink came with it) I can’t see how they can say the ink will last for 3 years as the black will go quicker than the colours (as my black is nearly done yet I have colours that I have not used yet) so I think they should have put in 2 sets of ink and an extra black refill to make sure that their quote of “WITH THREE YEARS WORTH OF INK INCLUDED” is justified but apart from that it is just the best printer I have ever had with the ease of refilling with no messy fingers, tip the ink up and nothing comes out until you put it in the ink tops on the machine and it will fill it until it does not need anymore, stops automatically, just lift the bottle off and store what’s left in for a later date, I saw that someone said it does not do duplex, I beg to differ, it DOES do duplex, you go into the settings and put it on two sided then it’s set for duplex all the time, if you want single again just set it back to single, if you get the manual and read up on how to do things then you would see how it is done, All in all this is the bees knees, best printer I have owned and I have had a few, ALL different and with cartridges that get empty and you do not notice until the print comes out without proper colours on it so you either have to order some more go out and buy some to finish your work, this printer you can see the ink and tell well before you run out to get some more ready to refill, hope this helps you in your looking for a good printer, and before anyone says anything, NO I HAVE NOT BEEN PUT UP BY EPSON TO SAY THESE THINGS, this is my own words about the machine, but I would not mind Epson sending me free stuff, like a bottle of black ink to make it 3 years of ink
I run 2 small businesses therefore I’m often printing… I had the printer now for 6 months and only used less than 5% of the ink that came with the printer. Even if I do need to buy more ink in future each tub / bottle cost about 6.
Ecotank technology should revolutionise the market because is so cheap to run.
The print quality is great (I have printed several photos with this printer), the printer seems a bit flimsy and this is the only downside but I am careful with the printer anyway.
The printer cost more than the average printer but the fact the printer is so cheap to run makes up for the price.
I’m a very happy customer.
We have been running this printer for just over 6 months now and have been very impressed. The ink levels have hardly moved and on our last printer we would have needed to replace the cartridge at least twice in the same time frame. The initial outlay is high, but this printer will pay for itself in a few years. All the advertised features work as expected and the print quality is great. The wireless set up is easy to use and simple to connect new devices. The only improvement I can think of is slightly thicker plastic used for the construction as some of the parts do feel a little flimsy. Overall a good buy and highly recommended.
The only issue and I mean, the ONLY issue with this printer is that, it’s kind of noisy? ish…
so, it’s not too fast but it’s not too slow either. thinking about all the ink that you can use with it and the fact that it’s really cheap to buy new bottles of ink… it’s not to noisy but it’s kind of a scratching noise and it’s kind of annoying… if only the made it so it’s really quiet it would’ve been the perfect printer for any small business and any home user. no competition. still, thinking about how much money you are saving just but buying this and using the ink bottles, I would buy it even knowing that it’s not too quite… so if you can get over the noise, just get this printer and save in the long run. the noise is only when you print so it’s not a constant noise. while sitting or when doing self maintenance, it’s barely noticeable. I’m giving it a 4 out of 5 star cuz of the noise but this printer actually deserves a 5 stars.
I have had a lot of printers at home over the years, from dot-matrix to inkjet to colour laser, all of which were fairly standard offerings where the printer was sold at a low price because all the profit is made on the cartridges.
I was a little apprehensive about buying this printer as it does seem expensive relative to other inkjet printers on the market, however this printer is different due to its bulk ink-tank system which comes with two sets of ink.
A significant difference with buying bulk ink is you can actually see what you are getting, with standard cartridges usually you can’t tell how much ink is in the cartridge and how much of it is just padding. I’ve taken old cartridges apart before now to find that the ink container is sectioned off and half the cartridge volume is just hollow space which would explain why they didn’t last long at all.
The printer sounds and feels really well made and built to last – it seems up to the volume work of my old home laser printer, though being inkjet this one can also be used with glossy paper to print photos to an incredibly high standard.
Not a unique feature these days but the support for borderless printing is also excellent – I don’t see any degradation in quality towards the edges of the print.
The scanner works well and includes an automatic document feeder.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this printer – I believe it will save you money (and frustration) over its lifetime.
I love this little workhorse of a printer!
I am studying for a masters in photography at the moment and frequently need to print digital contact sheets, research papers, etc. It handles them brilliantly, the colour rendition is fine (I’d not use it for final prints, but it’s perfectly adequate for general colour printing and basic photos). I’ve been using for several months and the ink from the initial print bottles it came with (not even on the spare set yet!) are only a quarter gone so I don’t foresee having to replace them for some time. Duplex printing is a breeze and we’ve had no problems with AirPrint with it (unlike a previous Brother printer which didn’t like AirPrint and our BT home network)
I run a small charity from home and print approximately 7000 sheets per year. My Brother laser printer gave up the ghost this year and I was tempted by the Epson because of the savings to be made on printer ink/toners. So far, I am pleased with it – it’s much smaller and lighter and can sit on my desk instead of having its own table. It’s vastly more economical and will pay for itself before very long. The set-up was very easy and the wifi works well – I can print from my phone or from another laptop with no trouble.
On the downside, the scanner is not double-sided – I knew this before purchasing but it would definitely have been useful. The top level feeder for the scanner has jammed a few times which is disappointing. Print quality is acceptable albeit slightly faded looking but the colours are better and sharper than on my laser printer. The main disadvantage is the printing speed, it was advertised as 20ppm in colour. Seriously, I’m getting just 2ppm when duplexing! Way slower than the Brother laser. However, if working slowly means it’s less likely to jam then I suppose I’m not too unhappy with it.
The main reason for this review is to confirm that this does fully borderless A4-which is not clear in product images or description (unlike the et7700 which clearly states this.)
I’ve only had the product and already printed over 2000 pages so here are some other first impressions…
The printer is smaller and lighter than I expected. I feels cheaply made-but has so far worked flawlessly.
The ink filling system is very well designed. I didn’t spill a drop. Viedeos etc. online can make this even clearer.
The print speed is faster than I expected based on others reviews. I am printing a document with text and images, duplex. It prints around 4ppm including thepause before duplex.
The large paper tray capacity and ink capacity mean that jobs can be left running. The only caveat is that the output tray only takes approc 40 pages before becoming full.
I have used less than half of any of the inks on the 2000 mixed pages so far–many have quite a lot of colour. Of course–your mileage may vary but it seems very economical to me in comparison to any other printer I have used. It will work out roughly as cheap as using the very cheapest imitation/compatible cartridges I was previously using on a Canon Pixma (50p per cart) but it is good to be using official ink and not changing carts all the time.
I haven’t used the scanner yet, but the lack of auto duplex is a shame.
Set up was easy but takes a while. Future re-fills of ink will be a doddle.
It’s about as noisy as other injets I have used-the main noise being the paper feed.
For cheap high volume printing this seems just the ticket–unless the lifespan of the machine is low this will work out a big saving if you print a lot. If the machine breaks I’ll update!
The job I have printed hasn’t been borderless-I just did one page to check.
PS-I don’t usually print 2000 pages a day-I’ve been saving up the job!
I purchased this printer because I do card making a lot. I have been using it for weeks now and printing high quality on 300gsm card. My previous workforce printers would have used 4 sets of replacement cartridges by now, this one has not begun to show signs that the ink is in need of refilling. Its design is so well thought out. I got a paper jam and it was so easy simply press 2 buttons on the rear panel and remove it then remove the paper. A previous review said that the PDF feed does not do duplex, sorry but it does and it does it very well. I am delighted that I can send prints from my other devices to it and it is a godsend when I need copies of business documents sent to me from 130 miles away, they simply send them to my printer from there and I have them. Its facilities to scan to computer and to e-mails as attachments is so useful. It has a setting to print borderless and 1 to remove punch hole marks. I could sing its praises all day but in short I am delighted I bought it and would be happy to recommend it to anyone
Very good printer. The one thing that is disappointing is it takes a while befor it prints double side. You will see the message on the screen printer is preparing to print .
Printer is not too heavy. It does everything that it says. Scan , copy , double side print, wireless, fax not tried . I would recommend anyone to go for it.
This review is for the ET-4750 printer that replaces for me a Canon MX895
– it is clear the packaging department have put a lot of thought into this. The printer itself was in a bag so it can be lifted out straight of the box and all the tapes had easy edges that could be removed
– the new design for inserting the ink means you can not get the bottles mixed up and we did not spill any ink during installation
– this printer is nice and compact
– I was concerned the touch screen may be a little on the small side but it’s extremely responsive and works well
– all the connections are on the left rear of the printer
– do check the Epson website for any extended warranty and cashback promotions
– I’m not sure how I’m going to get close to the 20,000 pages to be printed in three years. Clearly I won’t be buying ink anytime soon which to be fair seems to be reasonably priced for now.
Points to note and the reason I dropped a star
– I did not see any electronic way to slant the screen so have done it manually. This means it stays like that unless you adjust it again
– I understand the ADF scanner does not do duplex. My previous Canon was half the price and had this feature.
– Again comparing to the Canon the output tray does not come out automatically and has to be done manually
– The Epson instructions advise against using the Airprint driver for MacOS however although I did not spend too much time on it, their instructions to replace with Epson software did not seem to work for me. FWIW, the Airprint driver installed automatically and seems perfectly fine. Also I’m happy not to have any Epson bloatware installed anyway.
