For a non-techie like myself you must realise you need a smartphone ie Android OS to make it work, hint get online fr a refurbished fifty quid smartphone. Good images certainly, two camera vision, exc at night. Good audio too. Brilliant advantage is that such a device screams ‘vid door bell’ therefore idiots are far less likely to pester, hurrah!
Bought this to replace an EZVIZ unit that was awful, already got some Eufy cameras and I so wish I’d just bought this first time round.
Very easy to use and setup, configuring the various settings is a doddle via the app, excellent image quality and fast notification to my phone, very stable connectivity. The performance so far is superb, I really only have one criticism which applies to every video doorbell I’ve seen – no secure mounting options available as additional purchases, but they are available elsewhere so a minor complaint. Excellent product and the only company I’ll buy cameras from ever after my previous EZVIZ purchase. Very, very recommended!
Gives a clear image of the person approaching the door and also a view of the doorstep if a parcel has been left. Easy to use and connect with WiFi.
I purchased this Eufy doorbell to replace my ring doorbell which was working well but I didn’t like paying the monthly subscription fee which seems to increase each year. I did some research and decided on this dual cam version. Set up was fairly easy but I suggest you use the app instructions rather than the manual. It is as good if not better than the Ring but with the added benefit of two cameras and no subscription fees to pay along with a very high quality image I am really pleased with it. The camera does come with an angle plate but I needed a plate that had a greater angle because my path runs at 90o to my front door. I ended up 3D printing one because I wasn’t able to get one online. The hub unit serves as a bell along with video storage.
First of all, we have got a very good Internet connection here, and there is still a few seconds delay from when someone rings the doorbell to when you get a message on your phone even in the house. However, in the house it tends to be about five seconds max and obviously when we’re out a bit longer. Given most delivery people don’t even stay to get a reply, it’s almost irrelevant. However, when people are standing at the door waiting for a response, we can normally talk to them before they waddle off. We have also got this linked up to the Alexas in the house, so that gives us another layer of being alerted.
The unit itself is really well made and feels heavy duty. I’ve had a few cheaper video doorbells in the past and they felt rubbish, this one feels very well made.
I partly chose this one because it has the facility to either be run from the batteries or from a power cable. The batteries will go down quite quickly, for us, it’s about once a month, but it’s quite easy to take off the wall, attach to the Homebase and charge from there or a normal charger.
My sons have got the Ring doorbell and I would say that in practical terms there’s not much difference between them especially with regards to delay et cetera.
Definitely would recommend this one.
It does what it is meant to do with a few annoyances. The AI motion detection is not very intelligent. We get shadows and bushes being reported as human. Viewing the footage in the app can be awkward. Every now and then the doorbell footage can only be viewed with your iPad in portrait mode. Video quality is ok and it certainly works well as a doorbell. It fits well into the eufy ecosystem. Easy to set up and use.
Having used ring doorbell previously this is a far superior product. Better image. Local storage so no expensive yearly subscription and old one was unreliable this so far is much better.
Worked perfectly straight out of the box. No hassle setting up or using apps etc. unlike the Netatmo it replaced
Easy to install. Hooked it up to my existing doorbell. Rings the mechanical doorbell as well as the homebase and alexa. Very few false positives. Loitering detection. Web portal can only be accessed after logging and supplying the code generated by the mobile app and it is time limited. Face recognition geo fencing day night modes night vision hdr all there. No need to pay for online storage as homebase has plenty space. Very clear and good quality videos. 2 way comms. Auto answering quick notifications. We’ll can’t be happier. Really excellent product.
Viewing who is at my door before i open is a bonus and speaking to them without opening the door is more safe. Highly recommend to people who don’t feel safe opening the door to strangers and get notifications to your phone.
Can’t comment on this product just yet as this is not compatible to the newer base station for now.
So many excellent aspects to this device clarity of camera, connection to phone device even away from home and connected only via phone data, dual camera is brilliant.
My only two small gripes are, it could be snatched off the wall easily, and there is no key or lock function to prevent this.
Sometimes the connection is slow when wanting to view love feed from the phone so things can get missed.
However apart from those aspects, certainly an excellent device.
This doorbell straight out of the box seems like good quality and well made. I would have loved to have kept it but sadly I had to return it, not because it was faulty but because it only works with 2Ghz wifi (I have 5Ghz).
Having 3 Eufy rechargeable security cameras already, I decided to purchase the dual camera door-bell so I can see more detail of anyone approaching the front door. The look-down camera is useful incase any deliveries are left at the door. Simple to connect to the base unit and easy to operate using the mobile phone app. I cannot recommend Eufy security enough. Good kit!
Nice functions that I didn’t realise it had got, night vision and speed on alerting me via the app is good, very little delay even when on holiday.
Clear views of doorstep and front garden, happy.
Would love to try the additional cameras if prices came down a bit.
I found it easy to setup and stream as the software walks you through it. Quality of cameras is excellent. Only downfall is it takes about 5 seconds to respond when talking to visitors via door bell.
The double camera is very good working, but the battery level is really low. They said you can use to man to 3 months but you cannot use more than 25 to 30 days.
I absolutely love my new doorbell, and it’s caught some pretty amusing conversations the neighbours have had too knocked a star off because despite linking it to Alexa, it won’t use Alexa as a chime, which is one of the features I was most keen for. It’s funny seeing some delivery drivers continuing to knock rather than use the doorbell, thinking they won’t be recorded if they don’t press it! HAHA!!
The product is as its says on the pack and quite simple to install
Great for parcels etc. Just a little bit of lag with getting notifications.
Easy to install, great picture quality, but there is a delay of approximately 5 seconds on notification of movement detection and doorbell initiation. This means callers leave before I can respond remotely.
Once set up correctly this doorbell works well. The app is very comprehensive in its functionality, but there are few instructions on how to use it to configure the doorbell correctly. Lots of trial and error to get it sorted. Once done, there is a pleasant lack of false alarms and it has not knowingly missed a genuine caller.
There is quite a time lag between the detection of motion and the notification. Not a great problem but it is noticeable. Also somewhat disappointed that the stored videos can’t be downloaded to a MacBook. The online help indicates that this is possible but on checking with the manufacturer this is apparently only possible outside of the “EU Region”. Why?
Overall I am a happy customer. I especially like the lack of a monthly subscription for video storage, a “feature” of most of the competition.
As a family of Eufy converts we already owned a wireless doorbell and a variety of security cameras all linked to a Homebase 2, but the lure of a wireless doorbell with a secondary down facing camera meant a further 130 (deal price) was spent out and, overall, we’re pleased with the results. Here’s a quick-ish rundown of why:
The forward facing camera is still good quality (2K) and captures great detail (good lighting and picture quality both day and night via Infrared and spotlight). The downward facing camera produces slightly sharper images than the front facing camera, providing slight colour differences (likely uses a different lens/sensor etc.), which is fine.
The hardware and A.I. based algorithms and such allow the dual camera doorbell to offer improved motion detection compared to the standard wireless doorbell, and there are less false alerts. The sensitivity settings work slightly better and recordings capture people a second or so sooner and stop recording quicker when people walk out of range, which means more details about visitors and less memory wasted as less empty or useless video footage is stored on the Homebase 2.
As before, the local storage is the huge plus about this camera doorbell (no subscription fees necessary). It’s still slow to feed notifications to our phones and devices. Alerts appear 4-5 seconds after motion activated detection and 2 -3 seconds after the doorbell is pressed. Most (not all) legit visitors are willing to wait for the 5-8 seconds it takes to wait for the notification answer the doorbell, and those less-than-legit visitors, who won’t be ringing the doorbell(!), are caught on a motion activated recording anyway. I wish the notification speed was a little faster and noticed it was noticeably quicker whilst testing with the doorbell 2 feet from the Homebase 2, but slowed down to similar speeds as the original wireless camera doorbell once placed 5 feet away on the other side of the front door (glass and wood construction seems to affect the signal).
The BETA features (at time of writing) seem a bit weak and useless. Radar detection works and alerts of movement seemingly picked up separately from the AI based image processors, but in practise it means two alerts are sent: One saying ‘something set off the device’, and another standard notification telling you of motion activation trigger or doorbell press. The parcel detection works… sometimes. But if someone drops a parcel in the porch you get told that a visitor has activated the motion detection etc. so that doesn’t seem hugely helpful. It is early days though, so maybe it’ll prove to be a good feature. We haven’t activated the ‘Anti-Loitering’ feature as we don’t want local youths throwing eggs and the like at our house (!) and it only allows individuals up to 60 seconds grace before being told to ‘jog on’, which probably wont best please the supermarket delivery drivers.
The battery seems decent (similar to that in the standard wireless camera doorbell) and all the doorbell chime and audio settings (speaking to visitors through the app) work well.
On receiving the unit we did have issues with it not sending notifications at all. After a couple of hours trying every suggestion offered by Eufy online we fixed the issue by deleting the Eufy Security App on our phone and reinstalling it. Turns out there was a new version that seems necessary for the Dual Doorbell to work and our phone’s hadn’t auto-updated the older App for some unknown reason.
So it’s not cheap, but the ability to see what’s on the floor in the porch is wonderful (no more guessing if the delivery agent left the package our of sight of the road) and the improved AI and the resulting reduced false-alerts makes this worth the upgrade in our opinion. If only Eufy could speed up the notification alert times and make the App a little more stable it would be near perfect. Right now we’d give it 4 or 4.3 out of 5.
I did in the end return this device but only due to my needs in a doorbell/security camera, what it does well, it does very well, just shows what quality is and deserves its spot at the top end of the list and where it failed (for my needs) it did so in such a spectacular style at times, even that was impressive.
Before I start I just need to say this as unbiased a review as I can give, its down to the area I live in and some locals that highlighted features I ideally could use in cameras.
I couldn’t fault the image quality of both camera’s on the doorbell, it alerted me to a package being left at my door one day and being a night owl a neighbour bringing me some pizza at 3am alerted of a parcel being delivered. It also possibly saved me from some incidents seeing the feed from one night’s captured a stranger with a what looked like a machete walking towards my front door until he saw the doorbell camera and swiftly turned away. Where this camera let me down was the limited length in recording adter stopping shortly after he walked around the side it would be beneficial if i could have seen Befote the motion alert and after he moved away i could still hear hm on the phone but it stopped, highlighted having previously used 24/7 recording camera i needed this feature. This camera will also work better if the street wasn’t so busy and I occasionally check live stream if there’s commotion outside so these drained the battery pretty quickly, it can be wired in and did consider it. Not having to pay subscriptions was the main thing that sold it to me but realised that subscriptions are better suited to my needs. The live stream was also limited to about 15 mins so this also wasn’t ideal for me. It works with Google nest hub screens and Alexa on FireHD 8 tablet. It could possibly be my set-up but if I dare ask Alexa to show the camera feed on my FireTV 4K Max stick it started it’s show in fail etiquette freezing the splashscreen on my tv then taking my entire home network down with it and rebooted my VirginMedia hub5 router. Which has its own set of issues so couldn’t exclude this as a potential reason for rebooting and having wait the 10mins for that to finish boot sequence to get back on-line which ultimately was the tipping point when deciding to keep or return. AS mentioned this works fine with Google and mostly fine with Alexa smarthome ecosystems but as a Smartphones user found no support or integration officially supported very disappointing. THE doorbell hub itself is customisable with ringer and stored footage from doorbell and other cameras from eufy too, it worked very well on mobile feeds and notifications from my Samsung Galaxy s9+ phone which is showing its age but this being the only thing meeting my needs couldn’t justify that price for just the ringer functionality. Was a sad day and a shame it isn’t suitable for my requirements but again mentioning the image quality is amazing and the lurking detection asking people hanging around my front door “Can I help You?” and “Would you kindly, move along”
Having using the Eufy doorbell for about a month now I like it overall but it’s missing some features.
I specifically went for Eufy because I don’t believe in subscriptions for video recording that other brands require. The Eufy records locally onto the hub. It was relatively easy to install with an electrician and easy to get set up.
Some problems that cropped up:
The nightvision filter was stuck at one point, it made day time footage in a purple hue. There was no easy fix to this and I had to unscrew it and factory reset it which fixed it.
There is no constant recording option. I would like to be able to record 24/7 with it and have old footage automatically replaced in the local hub but this isn’t possible.
I’m delighted with the doorbell – it’s a great bit of kit. I already have Eufy cameras and the Homebase, so I ordered the doorbell on its own to add to my existing setup.
It was really easy to pair the doorbell to my Homebase and it was setup and working very quickly.
There is a small lag for the motion alert when someone approaches the doorbell which is maybe a second but it doesn’t cause an issue and I only notice it when a member of my family walks in.
I’ve set this up with my Alexa devices to announce when someone is detected at the door and when the doorbell button is pressed, the audible alert from the Homebase is very good.
The double camera view is really good. When I play back or watch the video I can see the person arrive at the door and can see what they either post or leave on the mat.
I’ve setup the facial recognition to detect when a family member is at the door which is brilliant.
I’m really happy with i
The main thing about the Eufy doorbells and cameras is that you do not need to purchase a monthly/yearly subscription to still have top quality features which other manufacturers provide on subscription.
The button/camera unit was easy to install, coming with drilling templates and screws and wall plugs. You should charge it up via the included USB cable (but you need your own USB power supply) before installation, so that you can check the video coverage angles and best position for installation before drilling holes and mounting.
If you don’t want the slight inconvenience of having to take the unit inside and charge it every 3 to 4 months, the doorbell can be powered from an existing AC doorbell transformer supply. The internal battery charge will last several months depending upon the features you turn on and how much video you capture. You will get an alert to charge the unit when needed in the app.
The HomeBase (HB) unit can be positioned anywhere within your home that has WiFi coverage.
When the doorbell button is pushed, the unit itself rings, as well as the HomeBase unit. You can also have alerts on the app, and on Amazon or Google smart speakers or hubs. Using the app, you can have a two way voice conversation with the caller, whilst seeing them on camera. You can also see the video from the doorbell on smart speakers that have screens.
The doorbell lower camera can be angled independently to look at your doorstep for parcel deliveries, and when those are detected, the machine learning (AI) of the HomeBase can then provide further alerts if the parcel is moved after delivery. The HB3 (details below) increases the accuracy of this system, as well as adding further detections for vehicles, animals and people seen by the cameras.
Eufy have addressed security concerns that were raised in December 2022, in terms of video streams being unencrypted and publicand have locked down a lot of the security since then, with streams being created with different identifiers each time, and having a finite time before expiring.
Updated: As of June 2023, the HomeBase 3 unit now supports the dual camera Eufy S330 doorbell. Migration requires removing the doorbell and HB2 from the app, which will result in losing any recordings you have saved — so do consider backing these up or exporting them if needed. Pairing the doorbell to the HB3 is as easy as the HB2, however the HB3 has a SATA connector inside to add a 2.5″ SSD/HDD to increase storage capacity, as well as supporting additional Eufy cameras. For a limited time Eufy has offered trade-up deals for the HB3 in the app, with about 30% discount off full price.
