We have used this for a while as a shedder for our small office and it does the job very well though we do not have large volumes of shredding to do.

Bought the 450M shredder just before Christmas to get rid of papers and documents accumulated over the last 30 years. Started using it in February and it has worked well, the 15 minute only continuous use was annoying but have got used to this now and even some industrial shedders at 1000+ a pop can’t be used continuously.
    Things to be aware of;
It is very top heavy so you have to be careful when moving it not to tip it over.
Use oil regularly, I bought the Fellows stuff, to lubricate the cutting blades it does make a BIG difference, it prevents paper jams and reduces the strain on the motor.

I took some time choosing this model as I wanted something quiet and reliable with a slide out bin and wheels. This does the job well. Certainly a lot quieter than our last shredder. We don’t produce a lot of waste paper so not bothered that it’s not terribly fast. Decided to buy the oil to keep the cutters lubricated and hopefully avoid any breakdowns.

Everything works well – just as stated. Communication, time to deliver and price good. I keep machine between filing cabinets and find it heavy to move, my fault. Otherwise — All good.

I’ve tried a few shredders, including others from ‘Fellowes’. This is easily the best. Solid, reliable, good size for home office and totally secure cut size. Quick and quiet to use with a reassuring ‘hum’.

This paper shredder is epic. It produces tiny diamond shaped pieces & is capable of shredding a few pieces of paper at once. Ive not tested the claim of 10 pieces but I can confirm that it takes 7 pieces no problem.

Got a similar paint shredder at work. Decided to invest in a better shredder at home as the cheaper ones don’t last so long. Excellent shredder, would recommend. Live it being on nice wheels and pairs compartment pulls out so no need to keep taking the top off to empty the shredder (love this).
Easy to use. I say to live in good wheels. Sturdy.

The Fellowes 62MC is a good bit of kit for the home / small business. A sensible size and relatively quiet. I bought the 62MC to replace the same machine I had for 14 years so they should be reliable………………….time will tell. I am please with it so far.

does the job but not as sturdy as the m/c it replaces which was no longer available. bit messy to empty as unable to luse bin bag as liner.

Simple, straightforward and about the best I have found for our offices in that price range.
It’s light and robust whilst not looking like a tank! We’ve had Rexel and wholesaler brand units before and they have either not been as simple to use (office staff can be incredibly dim sometimes) but also they “dust up” too much too often.
Really pleased and this will be one our go to option moving forward.

The shredder is less than a week old, so early days. It replaces a 25-year-old Fellowes which did sterling work, albeit at ear-splitting levels. Let’s hope this model lasts as long! In comparison, its soothing hum and large capacity is a great improvement. The bin material is thin plastic, and the removable part had warped somewhat in storage so doesn’t quite fit under the really heavy machine – some jamming required… I bought it for the wheels, which are a great let-down. They are plasticky and are often caught on my carpet squares, which prove no problem to the wheels of filing cabinets, under-desk cabinets and office chairs. The shredder may outlast my original but I doubt the flimsy plastic will.

This shredder is compact, easy to move around, lightweight and remarkably quiet. It shreds paper, thin card and credit cards easily into tiny bits. I have shredded photos and negatives (once they have been digitised) as well and it works perfectly – even though it says it does not shred transparencies. I haven’t tried to shred a document with staples yet. I like the additional locking mechanism to prevent accidental activation if the shredder is plugged in. Definitely worth the money.

I like how this shredder cuts documents etc. into such small pieces, giving peace of mind security-wise. the box for catching the shredded pieces is easy to remove and empty. I occasionally get a squeek from the cutter bar when in use, but I bought special oil when I bought the shredder and that cures it.

The Fellowes shredder is quick and easy to work and the removable hopper is a dream to empty.
I should say that the first model I received malfunctioned but Fellowes and Amazon quickly organised a replacement which came overnight -wonderful. I have had the new one for a few weeks now and am very pleased both with the service and performance.

Had been using a shredder for years to clear old files. 2 sheets at a time is tedious! then, we bought this one. WOW, what a difference, YES, it will take 10 sheets, of thin paper. I wouldn’t put 10 sheets of copier paper through it. 5 sheets at a time, it eats it at high speed. Watching our old files disappear so quickly was a joy. It’s quiet and quick. So pleased we got this.

This little shredder is great and manages to chew through far more pages than the older Fellowes unit it replaces. The wheels are better suited to a hard floor, rather than medium pile carpet or thicker, and the number of danger warnings in the instruction booklet is alarming at first, but for the money this is a great buy.

Have moved from a roller blade shredder to this micro cut shredder.
Overall very pleased with the shredder – the only downside is that because of the mechanical friction of the cutters, there is obviously heat generated and when run for about 5-6 minutes continuously, the safety kicks in a and stops further shredding. It’s then about 60 minutes cool down time before you can continue.
This is expected, but annoying when it does happen … fortunately most of the time i only have a few docs to shred at any one time … and it now forces me to shred when needed and not stock pile my docs for shredding.
Obviously you don’t get this mechanical friction/heat with a roller blade shredder, but i still prefer this shredder – just means i use it more efficiently and don’t stockpile any more.

    The Fellowes 62MC review;

    Likes:

    1. Fantastic shredding capability – really shreds paper in tiny pieces for piece of mind.
    2. Manoeuvrability – the casters on the shredder make it mobile enough to move around the home, even on carpet.
    3. Volume of paper – it can easily shred 10 pieces of paper at once and staples also.
    4. Shred bin – the handy bin are on mini casters which makes it easy to pull out and dispose of the shredding.
    5. Noise – reasonable amount of noise level when shredding. This is obviously expected.

    Dislikes –

    1. Shred bags – the product should be supplied with at least a few shred bags considering how much you are paying for the product.

    2. Price – is on the pricey side.

I’d only ever bought bargain-basement shredders before that didn’t last long, so this was quite a leap spending so much money on one.

I don’t regret it; it’s very well put together, quiet, and having a drawer that pulls out for the waste is so much better then having to lift a lid off. The shredded paper pieces are much smaller than others I’ve used before too, so if you’re security-conscious this should satisfy your needs.

This is certainly a very solid, quiet and capable piece of office equipment. It says it is mainly for home use, but we use it for the office and it is more than capable. It eats through around 10-14 sheets at a time with ease and the basket is very large and does not need emptying for quite some time as it cuts the paper into really small pieces. I would highly recommend this shredder.

After always using “cheaper” models from other brands (3 in total) I’m regretting not spending the extra little bit of money on this one. It’s so much better.
It can handle enough sheets in one go. It’s quiet and certainly looks and feels much more durable.
Don’t buy the “basic” brands… you’ll likely end up regretting it 5 months down the line. I’m confident this one won’t let me down.

The paper slot is narrow, to restrict the number of sheets I suppose, but the slot edges should be bevelled to guide paper in to save wasting time trying to get the pages exactly lined up and in to the slot. You have to bend down to guide the paper in and you cannot keep it under a desk. Otherwise, it’s fantastic!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI used to own a cross-cut shredder before this which was very loud and struggled when I tried to shred 5 sheets (advertised maximum sheet capacity). But it lasted me for some time as it had metal gears inside, so I just persisted with it. This week it finally gave up the ghost and I was bored fixing the bodges, so I gave in and bought this Fellows shredder.

My first impression when I got this shredder was the sheer weight of it. There is no way this is moving on its own, especially if you use caster locks. I admit that the plastic does feel thinner than my last shredder, but it’s certainly not so thin that it bends when you move the shredder. It’s such a good shredder, I am not even going to take a star off for this.

I am so glad that I have bought this shredder. While it is not silent, I cannot emphasise enough how quiet this machine runs – you know it’s on running by the gentle hum, but it’s certainly not loud enough to be heard throughout the entire house, unlike my old shredder.

Most advertisers give some random number for the maximum capacity. Being weary of my new purchase, I gingerly shredded 5 sheets of 80/gsm A4 paper – the machine just chomped through them as though they weren’t even there. I then tried another 10 sheets of the same paper and the machine managed with no issues whatsoever. I must admit I always shred below the advertised capacity, so I will probably never shred 10 sheets at a time unless I am doing a vast amount of shredding.

The next surprise comes when you open the bin to check the size of pieces. I would say that each piece is roughly the size of 3-4 pieces of confetti. Compared to cross-cut shredding, this is definitely far more secure. The small pieces of shredding should mean that emptying will become less frequent. Anybody with a strip-cut or cross-cut shredder can relate to my constant pressing down on the shreddings so they can finish off the last few pages before emptying.

Overall I am very pleased with my shredder. It is very quiet, good quality, does what it says on the box and is an improvement of what I already had.

I do agree that it’s a lot of money for a shredder. But I find you get what you pay for and if you buy cheap you buy twice.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve had quite a few home-office shredders and usually pay near 100 for mid-quality ones. This is the first that actually feels robust and didn’t cost the earth.

Rather than the whiney fast squeal of cheap shredders where the speed depends on the load, this has one slow methodical speed of high Torche with a low rumble. It just feels stronger as it it has time to chew through anything.

Even the shredded bits are tiny! So what does it matter if the paper is tiny, its still the same mass of paper going in, isn’t it? Well, actually, those small, shredded peices close up all the spaces into a densley packed natural pile at the bottom of the bin. With other models you would be taking the top off to press all the shredded bits down from time to time. We’ve all done it – anything to avoid the hassle of having to empty it too often, causing carpet snowstorms and bits everywhere. You don’t have that problem. It holds more and takes longer to fill due to the small sizing and density. Plust, removing the bin just glides out smoothly and no long bits of paper to wait until you’ve removed the bin before falling inside the unit like other units – ugh! You even have a little window to see it filling!

I don’t find any difficulty with feeding paper. There is no awkeard lips. Just straightforward. The unit is no taller than most shredders, perhaps just a tiny bit bulkier and its on wheels which feels luxury when moving it out to empty.

I wouldn’t normally write a review about a shredder (of all things!) but I can tell this is a quality item. Periodically check the teeth for clogging and add machine oil to the teeth every so often and you should be good to go.

A little disappointed as I was hoping it would take more sheets at a time – takes about 5 -6
I do feel this over heats quite quickly which can be rather frustrating
Noise levels a lot quieter than my previous fellows so not as annoying
Its takes a while for the paper to shred in comparison to my previous machine – however this is most probably down to the fact that the ‘shredding’ is in a lot smaller pieces so better for security

Overall for the price think I preferrred my previous P4 machine

The previous fellows machine I had was a P4 level

I bought this to shred cardboard and paper for composting. I was nervous that it wouldn’t cope with the cardboard as it might be too thick but I am pleased to report it can just fit double walled cardboard. The cross cut shred creates fast composting granules and my composter is now running at 60 degrees C when the granules are mixed with food scraps. It is a little more laboured with paper but it easily copes with 10 sheets, probably a few more, and these seem to compost just as well. After reading other reviews I did buy some oil with it, and use it after every hopper-full. I dont think I use it enough to to worry about overheating as it hasn’t so far. I’m very pleased with it. It is very top heavy so dont tilt it to settle the shreds!

This unit is probably the best shredder I have had. Excellent shred – lots of very small bits, but does make a mess when emptying the bin if allowed to fill to top. As they say it does shred up to 10 sheets, but best not to do it continuously.

Looked at so many reviews and different products and so glad i went for this product. Amazon was the best priced and arrived immediately. The shredder is superb for all household and small office use. It shreds really small thus only needed to empty the bin less frequently. I have also bough the oil and paper blade sharpener as a package its worth keeping up with the service on these machines. Great product at the best price from Amazon.

had this approx 18 months now, no issues at all, id say its the best shredder weve ever had (had 5 prior). We have a business so shred every week. its definitely the quietest weve ever used or seen others using. these bin types are the best this is our 2nd one of these (had a rexel prior), whereby you just pull it out so much easier and safer to use plus less mess, worth paying extra ive found as cheap ones never last. The casters are a nice bonus as it can be placed right by the material to be shredded ie. filing cabinet or desk. we will see how long this lasts but at present were big fans of Fellowes.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a great shredder, 10 pages at a time, staples no problem (more on that at the bottom), Not to much noise.
Castors on the bottom to wheel it around. No setting up as such just put the top unit (the bit that does the shredding) on top of the collection bin and plug it in. The unit creates very small pieces, once 3 or more sheets are in the collection bin it would be nearly impossible to reconstruct them and the more you shred the harder that would get.
My only issue is with Credit/Bankcard shredding. It can be a fiddle to get the shredder to activate putting a credit card in the slot. I had to lift it out and drop it in again a few times to get it to run, but once it did the shredder made short work of it. I had 10 cards to destroy so it wasn’t a one-off. It’s a slight grumble as it did do the job, it just needed multiple attempts on each card.

For staples I mean standard office staples like Rexel 26/6 not the stronger ones that a photocopier might use.

All in all a super machine for the money if you value security, low noise and ( I forgot to mention earlier) a large collection bi

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis is the second one of these I’ve bought for the office. They are getting a lot of use (and abuse!) and the first one has been going for a few months now. They seem to cope with people not emptying the shredding bin until the machine stops and trying to cram too many sheets of paper in at once, so they are fairly robust. Castors allow us to move them about easily.

Shredding is excellent – not strips but very small shreds. You can also shred credit cards. I use lubricating sheets every month to keep the blades in good condition.

Only gripe is the bin is a bit messy to empty – shredded paper ends up in the base and caught in a couple of holes at the back, which is annoying. However, that may be partly due to my colleagues allowing the bin to fill to the top, before emptying.

Does the job if you did 1-2 page at a time and you can carry on for an hour without heating the device . Tried 10 pages at a time for a 80gsm paper and oops it went with the heated light going on within 2 minutes and just about manages shredding . sturdy unit and looks ok and easy removal of the shredded load . I did a whole lot since 2012 or about a large basket full and still working .

We purchased the Fellowes Powershred 62Mc, 10 Sheet Micro-Cut shredder a month ago and it’s has been used every day. The shredder appears to be robustly constructed and we have had no problems with emptying the bin, or with it being top-heavy, which other reviews observe. We normally feed 2-4 sheets at a time into the shredder and it just keeps going and going, without cutting out. I’d suggest that folks who want to feed a shredder with 8-10 sheets, almost continuously and for long periods of time, should order a more powerful office-shredder, designed for heavier, continuous loads (because you get what you pay for). However, for normal home use, we are very happy with the Fellowes Powershred 62Mc and how it shreds paper into tiny pieces.

Bought this for home use. Chose one on castors so I can hide it under the desk and pull it out when required. Used once so far for quite a large backlog which had accumulated when my previous one died. Fairly quiet and shreds several sheets at once without complaint. Havn’t tried it for credit cards yet but note that the debris from cards will join the paper shreddings so not good for the planet when I recycle the paper (used one previously that had a separate collecting tray). Appears sturdy and fairly heavy duty but only time will tell. Overall very pleased with it.

  35. DarrellMullins says:

This is much quieter and shreds much smaller than the previous two shredders I’ve had over the last 18 years. It’s also the biggest I’ve had but still fits into a small room by your desk…..it doesn’t have a wire basket or anything posh but it eats a lot of paper into bits you can’t read. You can’t over-ride the sensor so it won’t run if you’re not feeding paper, and it has a lock so it’s difficult to operate by mistake….not glamorous, rather plasticky, but it seems heavy duty and it does the job without deafening you or distrubing the neighbours. It doesn’t like more than ten sheets so don’t try. I rather like the castors to move it around. More than enough for most households and small offices

  36. Edgar9160o says:

This shredder is quiet, shreds very small, has a good-sized and easily removable collection bin, and is easy to move around on its wheels. It slows down noticeably if more than 5 sheets of A4 paper are fed in – and will jam if overloaded. The thermal cutout kicks in after a few minutes of continuous shredding then you have to wait about 10 minutes before you can use it again. The shredder blades also need to be oiled periodically using special lubricating oil (supplied at extra cost). But overall it is a good machine.

This micro shredder does not just shred documents, it pulverises them! After the confetti has been stirred up a bit I can’t see how anyone could possibly piece anything together again, which is what it’s all about with shredders. The confetti is rather dusty though, something to bear in mind when you empty the bin.
This is a first impressions review based on having just used it for the first time out of the box.
The business end of the shredder (the cutting mechanism) is quite sturdy and heavy, and can be lifted off the base, but you normally would not need to do that because it has a nice pull out bin which runs on wheels inside the outer case. Apart from the mechanism, the rest of the shredder is a bit on the flimsy side which is a little disappointing, but when it is fully assembled it is sturdy enough to do the job, and you can wheel it around on its castors. It has been rated by Which? as being slower than average, but I think it will be perfectly acceptable for occasional shredding jobs. Noise wise, it is fairly pleasant to use as it whirrs and munches through the paper. The opening is just wide enough to fit an A4 sheet in length ways, but it doesn’t matter if you put a sheet in at an angle because it pulls it in anyway. Operation wise it has got a slider switch for ‘off’, ‘reverse’ and ‘on’, but it only works when you insert something, which I supposed would help extend its operating time (it’s rated at 7 mins at a time, then rest for 1 hour). It could do with recesses on the sides so it can be lifted as a whole and carried up or downstairs. 100 is a lot to pay for a domestic shredder but i’m hoping that the saying “you get what you pay for” holds true in terms of reliability and length of service, if I remember to oil it every time the bin is emptied.

This is the best home/ small office shredder that I have ever owned, it has a powerful yet quiet motor that has gobbled up every thing that I’ve fed to it and transformed it into very secure micro confetti.I have tried up to 6 sheets of A4 and staples and it shreds with ease,it also makes light work of credit cards this machine is well built and superbly designed it is effortless to move and emptying is so clean and simple. This shredder has a bit of weight to it that gives it a quality feel I suspect that a regular oil along with a little tlc will guarantee many years of good use.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSo far this has been an excellent shredder.
One slight annoyance, since it is quite expensive, is that it fills up mainly to the back of the bin. This is not detected by the bin full detector and the very fine shreddings fall out the back and get everywhere.
Solution is to keep a watch through the clear section at the front of the bin.

  40. Alberta66H says:

The Fellows Powrshred 62MC weighs approx 6 Kilos so it feels like it is robustly manufactured. A nice safety feature is the slider button for locking/unlocking the main on/off switch. Handy in the homes where young busy little fingers are roaming. The on/off switch is also a slider movement that also engages for forward and reverse. All switches are place on the top surface for easy usage. I rarely feed in papers more than three or four at a time and this machine coped with those easily. I have not and would not test to its maximum, doubltless there will be other manic reviewers, who will feel their time shredding must be done as quickly as possible and will feel the need to insert a telephone book. This shredder really does completely destroy the paper into pieces about 3mm making it totally impossible for anyone to recognise what the printed material was. No I have not counted how many bits per sheet it produces but I am totally happy with this purchase. Go buy the price is right too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWithout doubt excellent, tiny little confetti like shreds and a workhorse.

On it’s first day i shredded a reams worth of old paperwork with no pausing or overheating. The end result of the shreds are a thing of beauty! Seems a shame to put them in the recycling bin.

It has a lot better security and quality than my previous cross cut unit. There is no way you’d piece these back together.

Noise wise I wouldn’t define it as quiet as such but it’s not intrusive noise levels and compared again to my old cross cut unit it’s night and day.

Highly recommended for personal or small office use 🙂

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis is my 3rd shredder. So far this one has performed fine, although admittedly it isn’t being subjected to such a heavy load as my previous one which died after a few years. I do think it’s important to remember to use shredder oil to keep the blades lubricated, and to try not to exceed recommended shredding times, which can be infuriating when you have a lot to do and need to keep waiting an hour to resume work. However, maybe I’m learning patience as I get older, and I just go off and do something else while it cools down. As with my previous machines, I use the correct bags in the container, but again, the amount of shred that remains on the underneath of the mechanism when you open the door and remove the bag is REALLY annoying. You end up with so much loose shred on the floor and on the underneath of the machine where the container comes in and out that it always necessitates a vacuum out to clear it – that I could do without, but I guess it’s likely thay are all pretty much the same.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersWe needed a replacement Shredder for use in a small office environment 4-5 people. We already own one of these shredders so knew how good they are. In comparison to other shredders one of the big plus points with this shredder is how quiet it is, you can still talk on the phone whilst the shredder is in use so it’s a lot better than other shredders we’ve had in the office (from past experience). It doesn’t seem to eat the 12 pages stated, we use 70gsm paper as it can’t seem to handle 12 sheets – struggles, 10 is usually the maximum we put through at a time for quick easy shredding, works for the purposes we need and the paper is shredded very fine so great for confidential documents. Love the fact it has safe sense technology.

The display shows you when the power in on, when it needs to cool down, when the bin is full (although you can see through the viewing window on the front), also lights up to indicate jam and then the last indicator advising you when Safe Sense is in use, reverse button and forward as standard with most shredders.

Has a sleep function when its not been used for a while to save power, although you can turn it off fully with the switch at the back.

Only downside I can see, if you do lots of shredding the bin fills fairly quickly as it’s not huge like our previous shredder (although this is supposed to be the comparable model) and although easy to remove the bin – just slides forward isn’t as robust as it could be – hence only 4 stars as against 5.

Fantastic with it being on caster so easily movable when required.

Fellowes from past experience also have an amazing Customer Service, we’ve had issues with a few Fellowes items and they have been replaced free of charge under the manufacturers warranty (as some items have 2 years!) – so we like to stick with a brand we know and like.

A great all round shredder, if it had a bigger big it would have been 5 stars!

    Yes 'Quiet' Shredding!

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersThis item arrived well ahead of the due delivery date, so I was pleased about that.

This is an excellent shredder, which I have already used a great deal because I am tidying the office and have large amounts of historical paperwork that is simply no longer needed. The shredder works quietly and produces very fine shreddings that would be impossible for criminals to re-assemble in order to read the original contents of documents. A shredder such as this is essential if you are to prevent identity theft; if you have to get rid of old bank statements or parts of bank paying-in books then a machine such as this is absolutely essential and I recommend this shredder as being suitable for disposing of sensitive documents. The shreddings, by the way, are ideal for adding to the garden compost bin to dilute heavy organic matter such as grass cuttings, which would otherwise form a soggy mess and be slow to decompose.

I would caution you that the weight of the machine is largely concentrated in the shredding mechanism, which sits atop the lightweight plastic bin that is fitted with handy castors. I mention this because it is easy for the assembly to overbalance when you are lifting the top off the machine to shake-down the shreddings in the bin.

It is important to buy a bottle of the Fellowes ‘Performance Oil’ at the same time that you place your order for the machine so that you can keep the cutters in good condition and free of accumulated fragments of paper. The bottle of Fellowes Performance Oil is described as having an extended spout. In fact the spout is not long enough to reach down to the cutters so you have to dribble oil on to them, which wastes the (really quite expensive) oil and which also causes the oil to drip all over the top of the shredder. If you can obtain one, use a dropping pipette such as is used for eye drops, to drip a SMALL amount of oil on to the cutters, say once every two bin’s full of use. Alternatively treat yourself to a cheap-o plastic oiling can with a nice long spout that are available in your high-street ironmonger.

In conclusion I am delighted with this Fellowes PowerShred 62Mc shredder and I recommend it for domestic or small office use whenever prevention of identity fraud is necessary (which is always).

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOn the breakdown of my 15 year old crosscut shredder also on wheels I thought I’d never be able to replace it so cheaply. I did get this model cheaper than it is now for some reason, but I am very happy with it. Its quiet and there in no way any of the pieces could be put back together with this Micro-Cut!

Little green LED remains on when the unit is switch on at the switch/slider located on the top of the machine. Slider in central position is off and to the left for reverse.

I was used to a wide entrance on my old shredder so not as fast to load this one with a thin slot (safety feature I expect).

Large collection bin pulls forward like a draw so no lefting up of the heavy top as seen with cheaper machines.

I had been after a new shredder for several months. However, so many had poor reviews in relation to run-times, size of cut and bin capacities. So when this Fellowes 62Mc came along at a great price, I decided to give it a go.

This shredder is great. It deals with old credit cards with ease. Some reviews have stated the shredded size is too large, I have found the paper is shredded into very small pieces of approx. 11mm long X 3.5mm wide (actual measurement from a piece of my shredded paper). I am sure if you are a spy this might be too large. However, for most normal uses I think the size of shreddings is very small and I would pity anyone who had to sift through them to try and put the sheets back together!! The integral bin holds a great deal of shredded paper before emptying.

Some reviews have stated this shredder is noisy, I realise this is very subjective, but I find this shredder to be very quiet. My previous shredder from Rexel lasted for years and was a great workhorse, but it was noisy and required frequent emptying of the bin, so this new shredder is a vast improvement.

When I first received it I had a load of shredding to do (filled a large black dustbin liner) and it did not cut-out once. I do not overload the machine, putting through a max of approx. 4 sheets at a time.

Do check out the dimensions as the unit is a fair size and weight. However, it is on wheels and the storage bin simply slides out for emptying. As with most shredders the bin tends to fill up in a slight peak under the cutting heads, a simple open of the storage bin give it a quick shake and all the shredded paper nicely settles.

I have also purchased the shredder oil to try and keep it in good order.

Excellent shredder, powers through everything ive thrown at it. Turns the paper into small little partials which are extremely difficult to get anything off.

I have only half filled the thing at this point but it has already started to squeak abit when going through the load, i suspect that I will probably need to give this an oil way before the bin is full.

I was looking around and they say that Rapeseed Oil is the same stuff that Fellowes sell for a much more expensive price… I was thinking of buying the smaller bottle of the fellowes oil so i have a squeezy bottle to use with the supermarket stuff.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe shredder does not work correctly but having contacted Fellowes they have offered to change it without any prompting excellent service.

I will change the rating if the next one works correctly. They have offered to send a replacement prior to picking up the original one. I have purchased another replacement & returned the previous one. This is by far the best shredder I have ever used. Those who say it is no good must be doing something wrong. Very pleased & will recommend to my friends. I can assure the people that have advised they are dissatisfied with this shredder that this is genuine assessment but I have never tried to put nine sheets through as I believe you are making the machine work hard & putting fewer sheets through the motor runs a lot faster & easier.

Great shredder. It does what it says on the can – almost! it does not jam in the cutting mechanism like its smaller brother. It stops if you try to put too much thru it. Putting in reverse so that you can remove the paper cures the problem. So far I have not been able to get 10 pieces of paper thru it yet but I guess that it was tested on regular 80g/m2 copy paper which is typically not what I’m shredding. The only failure point has been the ‘bin full’ indicator. It worked for the first few days only. Now I need to keep a visual check on the bin level otherwise the paper spills into the bottom of the bin space when you pull it out to empty it. Other than that it has been great.

Bought this to replace a smaller Rexel cross-cut machine that constantly got jammed. Given it is bigger, its capacity is brilliant. I have shredded about two reams in a day and failed so far to tire it out. It does not jam. It is quiet. The bin makes waste management very easy. I am delighted this is a perfect fit for a heavy domestic to light office use. I can confirm – see the silly bad-tempered review giving it 1 star only, from someone who had not even bought it! – that it really does shred reliably tiny, and 2000 pieces per A4 sheet (3mm x 10mm) is the full truth. All tbhnis makes it great value at 99. I am very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersThis shredder was purchased after I tried shredding a 50p coin left inside an envelope in error. (The old shredder, of another make, made a valiant attempt before it died!). The Fellowes shredder is a good shape and the pull out drawer for the ‘shreddies’ slides in and out more easily than the old one. Instead of short strips this reduces the material being shredded to tiny pieces of confetti but despite this I found it quiet in operation. I am using the recommended lubricating oil and, for the first time I am using the maker’s bags in the collection drawer. They make life so much easier and, due to the small size of the ‘shreddies’ the bags do not fill up too often. There is a good sized window in the drawer so that you can check on this. Very pleased with this machine and can recommend it.

Due to the ever increasing deluge of junk male, i felt needed to upgrade my current ‘stripe’ shredder. While working within design limits it did not reduce the mass or room taken by the countlrss glossy pages so you end up with a box full of springy strands that take flight in the smallest of air turbulance to the great displeasure of my beloved.

To empty, i had to remove the power unit to access the bin, usually spilling paper shreds everywhere. On this unit you simply remove the inner bin leaving the power unit in place, which also has a viewing window to see how full it is.

You can pay a lot of money for a cross cut shredder, i looked at many specs and this one is currently reduced to under 50.00 seemingly fitted the bill for a home based office like mine.

Rolls easily on its fully fitted castors of which the front wheels can be locked, a well thought out format, not to big and i’d suggest ideal for the less able.

Very pleased so far with the all around performance and value, quite a heavy shredder unit but you do get good power delivered by it at supprisingly quiet sound levels, due to the separately temovable bin you fo not need to remove it often.

It’s not rated for munching up CD’s, in a way imho a very good thing, as it reduces risk of accidental destruction of possibly important data.

I have to say, as one who hates cold calling, vis phone or doorstep there is a very satisfying feeling of revenge being metered out on the scurge of uninvited junk mail, as the shredder mow’s through it with both speed and ease. Warming, it gets addictive – ended up searching for anything else could shred but the wifes lingerie draw was put out if bounds ;).
