I’m really happy with my purchase. I would have given it 5 stars if the strap had been better. would recommend the watch but would suggest you get a replacement strap at the same time.
I was in two minds over buying an Apple Watch or upgrade to a Fitbit Sense. I am glad I did the later. I love all the features, particularly the sleep scoring system. It measures the noise, movement around you giving stats and in combination with the premium membership you get information on how to improve your sleep and other activities. I can’t live without it.
I bought two of these at the same time, one for my wife and one for me. I still have the original one I bought for me but my wife had a replacement after ten months and now this replacement has stopped working after 14 months when it stopped charging and the face separated from the body.
She does treat it with care as it was nearly 300 so we assume there was a manufacturing fault around this time. It is a good watch although we do not use all of its available functions.
Update:
Watch returned to Amazon for repair but heard nothing after two weeks.
This is a great smart watch/tracker my wife can not fault it, I have since had the same one bought for me.
Only one issue which seems widespread across the onternet, is the charger lead.
One of the four pins gets stuck in, this happened on my wife’s and mine.
Contacted FitBit through the app and they have processed a replacement cable. Only time will tell if it happens again.
A great upgrade from the fitbit charge 3. Clear display, various accessories available to customise as you please and greater variety of accessible apps. You can customise the side button to activate a preferred task/voice assistant etc.
Easy to switch device to a new one via fitbit app and customise your screen/display timeout etc.
Marked down as battery charge doesn’t last as long as the charge 3 but to be expected this considering this watch has a few extra features and depends on the volume/type of notifications you choose to receive.
Also marked down as I had a bit of a reaction going on underneath the strap but changed to a more breathable one- has been fine since!
For me, the positive features have outweighed the negative and overall I am very happy with the Fitbit Sense smartwatch.
I was replacing an older apple watch as was getting frustrated with its battery life – needed charging each day . The Sense gives a good 5 days on battery – using various functions , connected to both my iPhone and Android phone – although android has more functions . To unlock some items like sleep analysis and workout preparation , health metrics you need a premium account (which you do get a “free” trial) . The display is bright, and you do get phone notifications and calls as well as touch payment . this is not as slick as the iPhone system, but they do operate in different ways behind the scenes anyway. It has auto exercise detection that doesn’t always get it right but the O2 sensors, heart rate and sleep sensors all seem to be reasonably accurate . There is a common fault with these watches that people often think is battery failure, but it relates to the magnetic charging “puck” which has 4 spring loaded gold plated pins and the springs can fail resulting in slow or failed charging . Mine had that issue after 3 months but a Fitbit web chat to an agent resulted in a new one being sent to me which took 3 days. The process was quick and easy however I do wonder how long the replacement will last. Non Fitbit versions are available cheap but it’s just a nuisance however It’s well worth looking at the Sense depending on your needs
I hesitated to buy this watch after reading the reviews, but am very glad I went ahead with the purchase. Battery life features a lot in reviews – I’ve found that, exactly as stated in the instructions, GPS and SPO2 functions significantly reduces battery life but with these not in use the battery lasts several days. I noted that, during the day, battery life drops by 10% or less, but overnight using SPO2 tracking the battery will drop by a further 20% or so. Fitbit Premium is relatively expensive, but it is needed to see a lot of the vast array of data that the watch records. There is 6 months free subscription with the watch, and from what I’ve seen so far I will be extending that as I think the information provided is very good. I’m not a heavy user of all the functionality, but so far literally everything has worked as it should; I have all notifications set up, I’ve answered a call using the watch, I’ve used Alexa, GPS functionality was good, I’ve taken my ECG a few times. So, in summary, having spent time understanding the functionality and what is the best setup for me, I’m delighted with the watch so far. There are several things you need to set up to suit your own preferences – for example night settings (i.e Display off at night), display brightness, mode for turning display on/off/always on etc. To be honest, I’m still concerned about a couple of issues that have been raised in the reviews, but these will only show themselves or not with time. For instance, there appears to be an issue whereby the charge cable sounds like it doesn’t last too long!
It is a very nice watch that has all the features you could ask for, heart rate monitoring, steps, sleep etc etc.
I have mine linked to iPhone and whilst it works well with the Fitbit app itself, it doesn’t really play ball with Apple Health very well, so you have to decide which eco system you want to be in.
If you are happy to do everything in the Fitbit app then that’s all you really need.
The app records all your daily steps and workouts, either automatically or you can start them manually, and a built in GPS is nice for when you want to map your workout.
At the moment I mainly just walk so I let it auto detect my walk and don’t have the GPS activated so it consumes less battery.
After the walk it will pop up in your daily activities as a walk and will tell you how many steps you did on that walk, your heart rate and zones you were in such as fat burn or cardio so that is great.
Sleep tracking seems to work well and seems to report how diabolical my sleep really is accurately.
Build quality is very nice as well and it feels a premium product.
I upgraded from a Fitbit Ionic to this Fitbit Sense and do feel it is a worthwhile upgrade, so no regrets there.
It has plenty of customisation of styles to keep it interesting as well.
I am basically using the Fitbit to try and lose some weight and get fitter again after a long period (since the pandemic started) of inactivity, so for me I find it a worthwhile tool to encourage you to make an effort to improve your health, and it has the application and hardware to achieve this if you are willing to work at it.
Brilliant little gadget, I love it. I upgraded from the Charge HR 3 in September upon release and it’s been brill – I haven’t had much chance to use some features yet though like the fitbit pay element.
The sleep tracking is great, gives me an insight into why I feel the way I do in the morning, and the “true” sleep i.e. I’ll wake up thinking I’ve had 8 hours but when I check my fitbit it’s only 6hrs 30mins or something because of waking up throughout the night.
The mobile app is great and has everything I personally need, my only wish is that the food library was as comprehensive as My Fitness Pal and that it would show what your weekly calorie deficit is, but it’s not too bad because it syns automatically with MFP so I’m not making double the work when logging foods.
The battery life is brilliant, I only charge it about once a week (with always on display turned off) so I barely have to think about charging it compared to my partner’s Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 which he has to charge every single night without fail. It also charges really quickly and the charger connection is so much better than before, it’s just magnetic rather than fiddling around with the connection.
Love the fact you can change the bands too.
One of the most motivating aspects of this watch for me is the built in exercises to choose from which then accurately records whatever you’re doing e.g. An outside walk (tracks GPS along with heart rate, distance, steps, active minutes based on your heart rate) or treadmill (everything listed before but GPS), workouts, weights, swimming etc. I especially love the new active zone minutes, you get single zone minutes in fat burn zone and double minutes in cardio or peak heart rate zones so I find it very easy to meet the minimum 150 active minutes per week, it’s very motivating to carry on when you’re smashing the zone minutes out!
Sometimes, and I mean it’s only happened about 4 times since I’ve had it (since September) it kind of crashes in that the screen is black and won’t wake up, then I just have to hold the side button down for about 10 seconds and that sorts it out. Other than that it’s worked brilliantly for me.
For anyone wondering I believe the only difference between this and the cheaper Versa 3 is that it also has a stress EDA scan and ECG function. They’re interesting insights but I’m not really sure what I can do with that information really, it seems to be more about health as well as fitness. But if you’re just into fitness then I would just get the Versa 3 because I’m pretty sure all other functions are identical.
Overall I really enjoy this product, and use it every day. I don’t think I could go back to working out/doing my daily steps without one now!
This is my review of the Fitbit sense after wearing for 2 months
Pros: -battery lasts a long time and is quicker to charge than other models, the actual charger is much better as it works as a magnet to the device rather than the clip style Fitbit are most known to have
– updated HR sensors, the ones on my old fitbits were very temperamental especially during sweaty workouts they would just cut off entirely at points, this watch does not have this issue, versa 3 also has the updated sensors.
-looks very sleek compared with other models, other than it being a fitness tracker aesthetically speaking it is a nice watch.
-fitness bands are much, much easier to switch between compared to other Fitbit models that use a pin type mechanism
– screen display is clear, easy to read, options for always on mode so you don’t have to manually turn on the display to view the time or your steps etc. The display feels a lot less clunky when swiping through your stats in comparison to previous watch models.
-mobile app is useful and one of the reasons I’m loyal to the brand as it’s very user friendly.
-6months free premium in app subscription with purchase
-google assistant and Amazon Alexa compatible
-ability to take calls and read notifications and texts as they appear on your phone
-sleep tracking much like on other models is useful and helps me aim to get more sleep each night, the daily sleep score is also a good indicator for improvement
Cons: – the price and the features you get Vs the versa 3 probably isn’t worth an extra 100 in my opinion.
-ECG feature seems quite gimmicky and I have only used it a couple times
-stress sensoring features are not accurate in my opinion, I’ve had panic attacks wearing this watch and it has never alerted me of a raised hr as it’s supposed to and my stress score has been good regardless of this so I would say this is either very buggy or just novelty.
– just like all other official Fitbit straps I’ve experienced, I got a really bad rash. I highly recommend the adepoy third party brand of straps if you have this issue, steer clear of cavn (which was the most widely advertised straps when I initially went searching for a replacement) as they are made terribly and will snap inside your watch which is more than slightly alarming. Official Fitbit woven bands are also excellent, comfortable & great for those with sensitive skin; I use these for every day use.
Overall I am happy with my purchase but there is room for improvement and I definitely feel like the versa 3 would be just as good if you’re not into the ECG features.
When I first received this Fitbit I unboxed which I found a pleasant experience as it opened with ease and was numbered to show each step to take out the watch and other accessories. I placed the Fitbit on charge and left it a couple of hours, then opened the app and put in all my details – age height weight etc. For the first day I was just working out what each thing did and gained a few hundred steps. For the first week of use I wore this without removing (apart from bathing) to track my sleep pattern and logging all stress levels. I like that you can do a daily EDA scan and that the watch can determine your calories burned through your daily activity. You can also log food and water intake on the app and sync this to your watch as well as set alarms and timers which have a loud beep that you can control with the volume setting. The temperature log is a good feature also. With the app itself you get 6 months free premium so you get to use all features, and also set up Deezer or Spotify so you can listen to music on the go if you sync some Bluetooth headphones. The battery life is amazing as I’ve had it for just over a week and it’s still going strong!! This comes with amazons Alexa built in so you also have your own personal assistant to help track the weather or whatever where you are. There are just so many different aspects to this smart watch and I’d go on forever to list every small thing. Overall it’s a nice sturdy watch with a comfortable strap which can also be changed by just snapping it on and off. The app has everything you need to keep your fitness in one place. Would I recommend? Yes.
I decided to return to the Fitbit fold after previously having an Ionic which I liked, and should have kept, but I am a sucker for gadgets and went through a few Galaxy watches and currently have the Active 2.
First of, that capacitive button, I have had zero issues so far either using it or having it register false presses, fair enough I am only a few hours in to testing the device but so far so good.
I though I would miss the Ionics 3 button approach but the Sense utilises a number of presses either long or 2 consecutive and then on screen soft buttons, or a shortcut to a feature which works well.
The OS, which some have slated for being slow and not responsive, I find to be fine sure it isn’t going to win any speed award and is not as fluid as Tizen on the Active 2, nor the Apple watches I have had in the past, the most recent being a Series 6, nor does it have the wealth of apps / watch faces, but at the end of the day you didn’t buy a Fitbit for such flipperies did you?
What it does do it does well for my use case and I had no issues connecting it up to my Samsung Z-Flip and controlling music, checking notifications.
It will be interesting to see if it has the same standard of voice call receiving as the Samsung watch when that is released, it is going to be released Fitbit? Right? Right?
