Easy to put together, easy to follow instructions. Grass box can be a bit fiddly to attach to back of mower but easy to do once I found the nack. Lightweight lawn mower, easy to manoeuvre when in use. Easy to adjust cut height. Had to buy an extension lead to cut both front and back lawns
The mower was semi assembled and the bits you did have to build yourself had good visual instructions. If I have one complaint it was the electric cord could do with being slightly longer .
This is so light and cut my lawn so easily I couldn’t believe it. I used to have a Flymo hover, but it had gone past its day.
The handle came off the grass box twice, so I will be watching what happens next time I use it. If it happens again, I will be contacting Flymo for a new handle or grass box.
The mower itself easy to put together the grass cutting can’t fault my 1 gripe is the power handle you have to grip quite firm which if you don’t keeps shutting power down annoying
Really easy to assemble, didn’t even need the instructions.
Five heights to choose from but went for the lowest straight away to cut a lawn that had 8 days of growth and it handled it with aplomb.
Lawn looks amazing. The amount of grass it picks up to is far better than my old Bosch. Really, really impressed with this. Recommended.
I’m lazy, and I mow my lawn as infrequently as possible, and it often gets to knee height. Up until now I’ve been using a cheap hover mower and it just can’t cope.
This Flymo wheeled mower is great. So much easier to power through excessively long grass without choking. It’s slightly less manoeuvreable than a hover mower and you’ll need a strimmer to do the edges because the wheels stop you from getting right up to the edge.
The grass box is slightly annoying to empty out, because the neck of the box is narrower than the box so you have to put your hand into the box to scoop the grass into the bin.
The whole thing was easy to put together.did it without the instructions (a woman!!) and to add not at all that heavy.unless you’re really weak!
Absolute dream of a mower (used on a small patch of grass at the front of housecouldn’t wait to use our ‘grown up’ purchase due to April showers at the end of May!!)
The only downside is that the basket can’t handle more than about 1kg of grass (basket holds approximately 30L) the handle comes offbaring in mind it only clips on anywaywill be securing it with a screw/glue of some sort!!
Other than that it’s a lovely mower.
I put the lower handle on the wrong way round as brain and diagram did not coincide but most people would have coped. The most irritating thing is the 10m cord. Noone buying this is likely only to have 10m to do. And even if Flymo don’t want to provide a long cord, a few more metres would help. Say a 15-20 m one, which would help where there are obstructions to the power source
All fine only used twice so far and now its May 22nd 2024 . Cuts good as expected, my last lawnmower lasted fine , just hope this one does likewise , time shall tell . But it has what i wanted on it cutting heights and bag filler for grass at back is good size and light enough , though im a guy .
But so far so good still have to get extra yrs warranty as yet by signing in my details and then its a 2 yr warranty, but i expect it to last ok for at least 2 yrs without fault anyway .
As sais time shall tell and depends how often it gets used shall also be how long it lasts . Twice as said only so far but all good
I needed a new lawn mower as my last one was 10 years old and did not cut the grass very well on the first mow of the year , just chewed it up and spat it out all over the place , Was looking for a battery one to save me mowing over the cable which i had dome a few times on my old one , it ended up being just over a metre long , oops , so long extension cable used instead , but some of the reviews were not good for battery ones , so i shall be more careful with this one now . This one is relatively easy to put together , but grass box was a bit fiddly , but a few swear words and a few thumps where the clips are and it clicked it into place . Half an hour to assemble , I am a woman of 66 , so off i whizzed with my new lawn mower and it did a grand job , picked up all the old grass that the old one spat out despite having a grass box , and did both my lawns in super quick time , It is quite heavy but i am quite strong despite my age so i managed . On the whole very happy with it , does a really good job , the cutting length is very easy to change with the easy lever on the side . I will be buying a replacement blade for it for when this one goes blunt and they are under 20 so not bad , as it does advice to change the blade every 2 years which may be why my old one packed up as it had never had a blade change . My lawn is also quite bumpy thanks to the badgers and foxes constantly digging it up and the squirrels burying their nuts i put out for the birds , and this mower went over everything . Best 125 i ever spent and would definitely recommend this mower , I love my garden but absolutely hate mowing lawns , i may even start to enjoy that job now .
The reviews were up to the expectation.Simple to put together. Agreed that the grass box looks a bit flimsy but it holds a huge amount of clippings and is easy to take on and off. It rendered my medium to large lawn with bumpy bits and variable grass lengths to a very respectable even cut.
Light to lift, easy to manouver. Very pleased with it.
Needed a new lawn mower as my old one was on way out. Good size grass container. I have a medium size garden and only takes a few empties. Nice to have the view point on how full it is. Cuts really well. Easy set up, less than 5min and it was out of the box and cutting. Easy to fold and store plus it’s fairly light weight compared to my old bosh. Grass container box was a little fiddly but once it clipped it was straight on and no issues since.
Just had this delivered and my garden so needed it first cut , you can image the grass was very long . Great mower easily cut the grass with no left over grass on the lawn . East to use and super quick to set up . A great lightweight mower . Definitely worth the money
I’ve now had this mower for about three weeks, ans it has been very good so far. The grass box was a little fiddly to assemble,as all the little clips have to be lined up correctly before snapping it together, and this can be tricky given the contours of the box, but I managed it in the end. It is also not the easiest to manoeuvre in small spaces, but I guess most mowers would be the same, as they have a similar design. My lawn is quite bumpy and the grass had grown pretty long by the time the mower arrived, but it coped well with both these problem (I had it on the second-highest setting). All in all, I’m pretty pleased with it!
I bought this mower to replace an aging cordless model as the battery was no longer up to the job – it lasts ok, but the motor was not as powerful as it was and the battery kept over heating which meant I spent more time charging/cooling down than I did actually mowing.
This was a breeze to put together, took no more than 10 mins and that included a quick look at the manual to see how the grass box fit together.
First off this mower is light – much lighter than my old battery operated one (to be expected as no heavy battery), however this is really manoeuvrable.
Second it has a very large cutting deck, which means less time to mow – as it mows more in a single line than my old one.
The best thing by far though was how tall grass it cuts. I used it for the first cut of the season and the garden was a bit like Jurassic park (without the dinosaurs) in other words the grass was long. I put it on the highest cut settings and it made light work of the tall grass which was around 6 inches in places.
The viewing window in the grass box lets you see how full it is, but I just kept going until I had finished the lawn (which was damp in the very tall grass). This mower took it all in it’s stride. I was able to complete 3 fair size lawns in super quick time.
I have tried a number of other brands since owning the first Flymo’s many years ago, but having used this one I think I will stick with them in the future.
The only negative is the cable is short at 12m. One lawn is double that, while the other is 1.5 times that, with the 3rd being smaller but much further away from an electrical outlet so I needed to use a long extension cable, but the disadvantage of the cable is smaller than the disadvantage of using a battery operated mower!
I got this mower in the spring deal, but to be honest, I would have been happy with it had I paid full price! Great mower and I can highly recommend it!
My mum has a fairly large garden and this mower is great. Lightweight and easy to use. Just had to use extension for big lawn but no bother. For the price I would recommend.
Probably should have got a larger mower, with hindsight – it’s a little small for my lawn – but that’s my fault, not Flymo’s. Having says that, it works pretty well.
So we bought this to replace two older mowers, both of which had given good service over 30 years.
First impression while unboxing this was it’s a bit plasticy. The handle went together easily, but there is some flex at the point where it screws onto the plastic mower frame so I’m not sure how long it will last…time will tell I guess. The grass collection box came in three pieces, and lets just say that it required some severe talking to, largely in the form of colourful words, while trying to put it together. A knife was also used to coax bits together…that or scare it into submission.
Finally, having got the thing together, I took it out for a test mow. Now we have a very long, very uneven sloping garden that would provide a test for any mower. There are unexpected holes (thank you Mr Badger), a slalom course of odd trees and shrubs and a carpet of acorns near the end that tend to fly in all directions when mowed over. Ouch.
How did it behave? Well, it’s slightly bigger than the old mowers but it was noticeably heavier as well, which made me a little concerned as mowing is already a work out, however it seemed easy to push about, I just couldn’t do my usual fling it about sideways that I could do with the lighter ones while hoping over stones etc. Maybe that’s not a bad thing as it does stop me putting my back out. It did mow very cleanly, and changing the height is simple with a single ratcheted lever.
It coped remarkably well with the unevenness and general bumpiness of the lawn, skimming over old half hidden trunks and paving stones with no problem. The large blade coped well with the occasional stick or fragment of lost clothes peg and didn’t stop or slow down regardless of what ended up underneath it. It was loud enough to give the frogs near the hedge a warning as well, so that’s good!!
The cord is long enough to not have to shift the extension too many times so I’ll count that a bonus.
The grass box wasn’t impressive… The top kept lifting off, and I never seemed to be able to get it fixed on correctly, so I just gave up on the box and things went much more smoothly once I’d taken it off and consigned it to the cellar, where possibly the mice will play in it.
So. Did it cut well? Yes. Was it fast at mowing a large bumpy annoying garden? Yes. Is it heavy? Yes, but I didn’t find that as difficult as I thought it might be. Is it well made? Jury is still out on that, maybe it’s the sign of the times that plastic is the main thing used in all cheaper things these days. Is the grass box any use? Hmmm only if you want to constantly fiddle with it. Is it loud? Not more than any other and it does warn the local wildlife, so bonus.
All in all, it’s not bad for the price in a sale, and if it coped with our lawn, it will cope with just about anything!!
I needed a lawnmower that could cut at different levels. This worked very well. Also it was easy to assemble. I realised that I can take the handles on /off which makes it easy to store away. The downside, it’s a bit expensive to be honest. The other downside is the collection bag is pretty small. You cut one row which is less than 3m, then have to empty. Quite a tiring job if it’s not one of your exercise days.
Easy to assemble, and when finished with it packs away into a small space. Cut grass with ease & does a much better job than my previous lawn mower, which was more expensive. Only used once, so not sure about durability yet, but it seems solid enough for the price.
Received today and naturally enough had to see if worked.. It did and really like the easy start up and the easy way to set at whatever level suits best. Also plenty length in lead to plug in directly to socket. No need for extention lead. Knocked of a star for the grass collector (box) fiddley to put togeather and top doesn’t stay on all that secure.
Seems to work well even with damp grass. Could do with a bigger grass collection basket but that’s about my only gripe. Find it quick and easy to use and lightweigh
This was purchased after a manual mower did not performed as expected in an uneven lawn. But this one did the job pretty well. Time will tell how long it will last but initial performance is good!
Very easy to assemble – lightweight and very easy to change cutting height.
Even though grass was wet underneath when I used this for the first time it did not clog up and cut my lawn effectively. Easy to manavoure around borders and fruit trees in the garde
I have a small/medium lawn and found this mower easy to use and leaves a good finish. I like the easy adjustment for cutting height and the large capacity grass box.
It was a bit fiddly to put together but managed it in the end.
Love it. I hope it last like it should. I have only used it 3 times though. I will come back in 6 months or so for another review. So far, it is good
Mower works well. Grassbox and lid a bit flimsy – two halves just clipped together and do not locate on the mower particulaly well. Height adjstment good, mowing action good
Bought this model to replace my Qualcast which after many years service gave up the ghost.
I needed something light to manage a medium sized garden.
This Flymo ticks all the boxes – lightweight but a nice size grassbox. Pretty manouverable with a long enough electric cable.
Importantly as well – quick and easy to assemble. Competivily priced.
My flymo power compact 400 gave up the ghost after 25+ years service. I did my homework, reading reviews and noting this mower was Amazon’s choice for flymo lawnmowers, a make I have always trusted. The only drawback I could see was that it looked a little narrow, the width of 36 cm being 4 cm less than the 400.
However, in use it has proved to be faster to get the job done and it is definitely lighter, which I appreciate being 72 years old. Being smaller and lighter, it is more manoeuvrable and less effort to push.
You have to do some self assembly, but it’s nothing, the main problem getting the two halves of the grass collector to marry up.Took about 15 minutes, tops.
all said, I look forward to another 25 years of easy grass cutting..
Assembly was fairly straightforward though the grassbox was a bit fiddly
… I found a bit of silicone grease on the tabs helped here. Up and running in about 1/2 hour and a decent cut.
I really like this lawnmower. Its relatively quiet, easy to assemble and to use. I would give this one piece of advice though and that is dont let the grass collector get full as it’s not that easy to remove without tipping out some of the grass!
I’d previously only used hover mowers but this is so much better. The wheels make pushing it so much easier!
We’ve got quite a big grass area and this makes it much quicker to mow. Even if the grass has been left to grow long, it cuts well. Large capacity box means fewer trips to the compost bin/green waste and it’s easy to see when the box is full. Our ground is a bit uneven too, but again no problems.
Cutting height adjustment is really easy too.
I was a bit concerned it was too ‘plasticky’ and might not be robust enough, but no worries there either.
Can thoroughly recommend and wish I’d bought it years ago.
I’ve only used it once, but so far so good. Was easy to ensemble, didn’t take very long to do so.
I got it at sale price and I think it was a fair price, I personally wouldn’t pay the RRP (recommended retail price).
The area I was mowing wasn’t huge, but is a fair size lawn about 75m square give or take and I needed to empty the grass catcher three times baring in mind the lawn was quite long, which I didn’t think was too bad.
In summary it does the job I need it to for a price I was happy with.
Easy to assemble, I read the reviews, some people were not happy with the grass box, saying it was a bit flimsy. When I assembled the grass box, it seemed as the reviews were correct, how ever I found that I was not clicking the pieces together firmly enough. then it was ok. You can always glue it if you still think the assembly is to flimsy. Can be a bit tricky in attaching it to the mover and needs some fiddling hence reason for 4 stars overall.
Got this as a replacement for my 20 year old Flymo 360 Ventura that was extremely well made but finally packed up on me. Read the reviews and this seemed the best replacement for a reasonable price. It seemed a bit cheap and plastic when it arrived and the assembly of the grass box was a bit like an airfix kit but once assembled I was surprised how light and efficient it was at cutting the grass. Performs very well. Will have to wait to see if it lasts as long as my old Flymo.
At nearing 67 I notice bits of me are wearing out or falling off – and the same goes for the mowers I’ve used over the years. Most have been Flymos in various forms because I like the brand and, usually, they’re lightweight. But they are not always up to the demands of the garden, quite long , on different levels, hazards to avoid (monkey puzzle tree, pyracantha, Ma’s favourite bulbs, hedgehog houses and more). When the motor on the last packed up on its first outing this year I went for something tougher, more robust, and hopefully resilient. This has more oomph under its belt , a more powerful motor, and while the wing nuts were a bit fiddly (they take a while to engage so persevere) and the blasted grass box in three parts proved a bit of a trial for arthritic fingers and developing depuytrens contracture, and kept falling off until I twigged where it was supposed to fit, it all fell into place. This time in one glorious and, for me, quite heavy mower. I like the fact the grass box holds far more than the last mower did, and that it doesn’t fall apart when I lug it off to the compost bin. It’s not quite as easy to upturn and clean as the last – but again the last was much smaller and lighter. I LOVE the ease with which I can adjust the cutting length and the choice. It’s wonderfully accessible – I don’t I ever figured out how to adjust it on two previous Flymos or was frightened at my hand’s proximity to the blade. The instructions are a bit meh. Lots of flying screws and other things but the really good news is most of the mower is already assembled. It’s just a matter of getting the handle into place , the blasted wing nuts to finally connect and engage, and remembering to adjust the height – I forgot I’d shrunk over the years. If you can be bothered , fold it all away for the next un-rainy day. If you’ve got the space leave it assembled but remove the grass box. If you’ve clipped it all together it will slide into place on the next venture out. As for the cut – it’s pretty good. Not quite as easy to manouevre as the smaller models but you gain far more with the impressive span of the cut. It covers far more ground but you’ve just to lug it a bit.
**UPDATED 23/05/21** Please see bottom of text.
After using a very cheap and old qualcast ‘hover mower’ on our lawn last year I decided it needed replacing as it was awful!
This was shortlisted against the easi store Flymo but decided this was the best option due to alot of the reviews for other Flymo suggesting it had a massive issue with it changing deck height by itself.
After reading the reviews for this I took a gamble and ordered one. The reviews made me think it would be flimsy with a fiddly grassbox but I don’t agree!
The assembly was easy, the instructions aren’t amazing as it’s a few small diagrams but it’s quite intuitive and most of it is common sense! The grassbox just needs the clips lining up and a few calculated smacks to drive them home.
I’m 5’11 and used the higher of two options when assembling the hand bars. After using it on it’s trial run I can confirm it’s a really comfortable position for those who are a bit taller/more lanky but has the option of dropping the bars an inch or so if you are of the shorter variety.
For circa 110 my expectations were low but I’m really impressed! Yes it’s plastic, and it’s not massively heavy but it does a good job and the lead is long enough for most gardens, I had to add an extension lead to do ours as the grass spans approx 18metres.
It did the first cut this year since October last year and it was a breeze. My lawn is about 50% moss but despite this it cut it well, however I did notice that anything above the shortest setting didn’t seem to do anything so I went around on the shortest setting straight away, I will update the review in the summer once the grass thickens out and update you all on whether the higher height settings do anything.
I was really impressed by the flat edges of the deck to allow you to get close to borders etc, it made my life 10X easier as I didn’t have to fanny around with a strimmer!
The clear panel on the top also made a big difference when it came to seeing how full the grassbox is, I’m glad I went with this model.
The mower comes with one year warrantee but you can register it with Flymo online for an extra years warrantee with plenty of parts also available in the event you need a new blade or anything.
Overall for the price I’m really happy so fingers crossed it lasts 🙂
23/05/21***
Since my last update I’ve been able to use it to mow our lawn many times, overall my thoughts still remain the same for the most part, my only updated thoughts are:
– Despite the grass now growing quickly and a weekly trim being required, anything but the lowest setting doesn’t take enough off to warrant a mow!
– If your lawn has dips/drops or anything that isn’t a flat bowling green it doesn’t have a good time! Because of the wheels it means that it won’t get low enough trim dips in the grass and where there are slight raised areas it will scalp them!
– even though it has the edging feature built in meaning its flat edge can get close to things, I’m still needing to go round my decking and lawn edges with the strimmer, it’s just not as much work.
Overall I don’t think this really changes my thoughts on it as the lawn levels not being perfect isn’t the mowers fault. This mower is still very reasonably priced and is still a joy to use!
