GPS You Can Count On
You’ve never been one to follow the beaten path — that’s where Instinct comes in. GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellite network capability tracks in more challenging environments than GPS alone. The built-in 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter help you keep your bearings. Take the guesswork out of your return journey by using the TracBack feature to navigate the same route back to start.
Monitor and Train
The Instinct GPS watch estimates your heart rate, activity and stress throughout the day, so you know how much you do — and how hard you’re working to do it. When you’re ready to train, we’ve got you covered with preloaded activity profiles for running, biking, swimming and more.

I have been able to test it on long journeys through mountainous terrain, and I can say that it is more than up to the task. An ideal companion, simple but very functional. A highly recommended and useful watch.
I’ve had a number of different smart watches over the years including FitBits etc. This is without a doubt the best so far!
I tend to use it for tracking walks and cycle rides (putting both into Strava), as a step counter and of course as a pretty nice watch for everyday use. Simplicity to set-up and get going, pairing with your phone is also easy which of course then allows notifications of texts, alerts and incoming calls. Battery life seems to be good – overall I’m delighted with the watch without a single negative.
It’s possible to have a multitude of different watch faces, then each chosen face can also be customised further – nice! When I bought mine Amazon were doing an incredible price on the ‘Coyote Tan’ colour, making it an absolute bargain as well….what’s not to like?
I use to have the Garmin Vioactive 3, then I switched to Appple which was But the battery life on this is great, I’m very active with work and this lasts around 4-5 days with me!
This was a gift for my husband, he loves it. Easy to use battery life is amazing.
When bluetooth is turned on his phone, his messages go to his watch. Links walking/running to his phone without having to take his phone with him. Great price. Overall very happy with this watch.
Great smartwatch…must mention, imediatley, battery life is fantastic. Normal use 10 days…walking every day and recodring, around 5 to 6. Very comfortable, incredibly accurate, coupled to the map app on my smartphone it records everything with great detail. Not so sure about the sleep recording…ocassionaly it will record 2 hours sleep even though I’ve had a good 7 hours. But does that really matter?? It is a great watch, many adjsutable watch faces and features – highly recommended.
I bought this for my husband. He was also looking at watches in a much higher price bracket and soon realised this watch beats most of them. Great watch and he loves it.
Used now for Six months and has done everything I have asked of this watch. some features I have not used yet as I am not very techy but learning as I go.
Had a prior Garmin for running, it started to glitch so invested in this. It is simply excellent. Superb battery life, loads of great features with Garmin Connect, use it for running, cycling, yoga, walks, hikes, spinning and eventually swimming. Very rugged looks, extremely comfortable and doesn’t look like just a fitness watch…very impressed. Like also the compass/altitude and other widgets, didn’t come on my last Garmin so software has improved and is user friendly.
Hi,I’ve been looking for smart watch for some time now.done a lot of research and decided this watch was the one for me.I’ve had it 5 months now and love this watch. The size is perfect,no deferent from all my other sports watches I’ve worn over the years.I mainly use this for running, cycling, swimming, walking, heart rat and steps.GPS is very accurate and I love it when it buzzes on every mile.
Love the colour yellow, which I chose.
Straps very comfortable.
Great looking watch,I wear it for ever occasion .
So far so good it does everything I expected it to do.
Yes love it but I found the user manual impossible. Fortunately YouTube has some great videos which were really easy to follow and showed me all I needed to know. Download the garmin Connect app this is really useful So yes great watch with a massive amount of easy to use features but ignore the manual and head for you tube. After spending a few days with this watch I have it configured exactly how I want. But don’t be put off by first impression it is a steep learning curve but again go to Youtube. I have been using the GPS to record and backtrack a walk which it does very accurately . and the find my phone app on the watch is surprisingly useful
Love my Garmin – Quick GPS connection @ first but after a few updates it sometimes takes a while to connect (This can be a pain!!) Used to connect instantly so must be a software thing (Hopefully will get fixed in future updates). Battery life not too bad – I charge once a week (do about 3 x 5 mile runs and a couple of walks) so would probably need charged more if used beyond that.
This is my latest in a long line of Garmin GPS I’ve owned. My last one has been going strong for years but I wanted to be able to load a route to help with guidance on long-distance off road runs or walks in the Lake District. I like this watch because the navigation feature works reasonably well. The screen-size is a little small for my ageing eye-sight, but that’s not Garmin’s fault. Battery life is superb, it’s very comfortable to wear and looks that good that I wear it sociably. Can’t comment on reliability or how water-proof it is yet but I’m confident. It connects and works well with the app on my Android phone. I was so impressed with my new watch I bought one for my partner, but in a different colour. We have started to use the tracking feature when we are out on runs alone and it works very well. There are loads of other features that I don’t use. I would definitely recommend this watch to anyone who wants to be able to plan routes and then be able to navigate using it.
Brilliant watch has all the capability’s of a smart watch and is very durable. Used this watch in the army and put it to the test. Survived the sea, mountains, muck and everything without even a scratch.
I do find Garmin watches so complicated – so many functions, buttons doing multiple things depending what screen you’re on etc. Having a standard Fitbit before, this felt like a big technical step up. That said, it does have some vast functionality. I’ve had it for two months now and I’m sure I haven’t explored it all. I use it mostly for running and short hikes, I find the compass very reliable and it tracks well. Finds gps quickly and monitors pretty accurately in my view. Syncing is good, battery life pretty long. This model is a chunky one which I like, I don’t find it heavy on my wrist.
The only thing I would say is that I’ve had a couple of storm alerts which were not correct. I don’t know on what basis it decides to predict a storm though.
Feels very sturdy and has all the functions required. Bought mainly as a back up to an old etrex 30 gps unit, so that if it ever failed I would have an back up to support my map reading skills. Undecided between this and the suunto traverse but decided to stick with what I know, and also the extra battery life offered. Full of features, can use bng as Co ordinate reference, log your position, easy to use and accurate compass plus others that not fully explored. Excellent battery life, wore for 2 days on a overnight hike, in gps mode only and only used half available battery. In gps mode only, tracking is very accurate and got me within approx 6 ft of my car when back tracked. Very comfortable and light to wear. If only could put maps on at this price point but wouldn’t go for a walk now without wearing this.
I have always been active and enjoy many outdoor activities but this lovely piece of kit has been a game changer for me as it takes recording your training and exercise to the next level. Through the app you download to your phone it records the usual distance, time etc. as you would expect but also gives elevation, heart rate, stress levels, body ‘battery’ as well as GPS mapping – I’ve used a fraction of the functions with still loads more to discover & use but so far I’m really chuffed. This is my first purchase of a device such as this so I am no expert on these things, but I’d say that anyone who is a keen amateur to semi serious about multi sport performance, this watch covers more than enough of what they’d need? Plus it looks really cool to wear as an everyday watch – I own the Sunburst Yellow version but will probably buy another in a different colour to match with other outfits, for work, etc.? All in all – a great & gorgeous Garmin !
Love this watch from going from a fit bit to a Garmin wow more than impressed. I went for this model due to its dual ability and it’s functions as I did not one where you needed a degree in rocket science. I opted for a non touch screen due to being hard wearing but you still got all the functions of a smart watch.
Why did I waste all that time on fitbit watches?!
I’ve had this for 2 months and I use it for walking, running, cycling and strength training. I love it.
Accuracy/reliability is perfect.
Looks GREAT.
Only downside (if any) is that it does so much stuff that I’m not using all it’s functionality.
Thought I might not like the lack of fancy touch screen but actually don’t miss at all. No accidental button presses and fantastic battery life.
Nice and rugged, love the colour, big and chunky. Amazing battery life, love the voice notifications during a workout e.g during indoor row my current heart rate is announced to me through my headphones . Decided to give it 5 stars but there are a couple of annoying issue that don’t bother me now but may others.
I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 with touch screen and thought I’d miss that but its not a problem at all. The watch has many programmable options available however it was initially very frustrating trying to set it up & activate exercise program. But after trial and error it’s all set up the way I like it. Also the Connect IQ shop app doesn’t really support the watch but Garmin Connect tracker works perfectly recording my workouts.
For me it does exactly what I need it to do, tracking all my workouts and notifying email & messages etc whilst working & some extras I didn’t expect.
Overal so far I’m very happy with its functionality, performance and build.
It’s a lovely comfortable watch,so light you barely know it’s there. The activity trackers are really accurate so you get a good grasp of your day and the GPS features are perfect, you can track hikes and climbs, and anything really, and navigate your way back home or whatever you like! Wonderful watch, and looks sick in orange!
The Garmin Instinct is a great smart watch that monitors a range of different sports including running, swimming, cycling, rowing and more! It provides easy to read information and syncs seamlessly with the app and Garmin website. The strap is really comfortable and easily adjustable. The data, such as distance etc, is really accurate. Overall I’m delighted with this product and highly recommend it.
If you need a smart watch that’s indestructible and totally waterproof – this is the one. the screen isn’t colour or touch screen but what it lacks in frills it makes up for in robustness, battery life is decent too.
I really like this watch – looks good and functions are awesome but to set up its like teenage sex – a lot of fumbling around and you may eventually get there! Instructions are very brief and don’t believe I’m getting full capability from watch
No problem with the watch (hopefully) as bought for my husband and i already own one BUT not very happy about the fact the seal on the box wasn’t intact on arrival!!!
Great fitness tracker, really good for swimming and cycling in gloves as there is no touch screen. Battery lasts for ages when not using gps, but still lasts a reasonable time when active. I have found the gps to be accurate. The watch is very comfortable to wear and has a nice soft silicone band. I have previously had cheaper smart/fitness watches and you really get what you pay for, the garmin is a bit more money but it’s loads better.
Great watch. Still learning all the functions but still love it. Fitness watch with everything you need on your wrist. Works well with the garmin apps on android. Plus waterproof, sturdy and looks good.
Very comfortable. Excellent battery life. It’s been really good recording my running data. The description of ‘flame red’ is quite different from the reality though. It may look a lot better than the (touch screen) vivoactive hr, but it’s not as easy to get to grips with (yet)
Bought this watch as a replacement for My apple watch, was cheaper to buy this than get the screen repaired in the iwatch!!!! Very happy with this watch it’s very comfortable to wear all day hardly notice that it’s on…
