Exactly what I was hoping for in quality and function & was very easy to setup.
So glad I upgraded to 6E via this item. Speeds are stable all around the home and had no issues so far! Nice aesthetics and finish – highly recommend
I was hesitant to purchase from UK (in AUS), however besides needing a UK to AUS power adapter, the routers work as they should! Postage was reasonably fast too.
Finally got the Apple Time capsule router replacement that I wanted after apple stopped making routers! I needed 2 x 3 pack units to cover 2 story detached brick house and whole of garden – everywhere gets top speed and good signal now. Hub4 in modem mode was a good bit slower so worth asking Virgin media to switch to Hub 5 if not already on hub 5 (could also have been sky Q interference causing this too which I will mention later). I used a star tech cat6a (newest version of ethernet cable capable of carrying 10gbps) to connect Virgin Media hub 5 in modem mode to Google Nest Pro unit (I know nest pro has 1 gig limit on ethernet port but wanted to make sure it started with a full 1 gig before creating the wifi mesh). The Sky Q mini box interference issue to watch is that it wants to use channel 36 5ghz to connect to the sky mini boxes to the main sky Q box even if you use sky for TV only and not for internet – so interferes with your Google Nest pro wifi which also wants to use channel 36 for 5ghz – therefore turn wifi off on main sky Q box and mini boxes using hidden sky setting menu (think 001 then enter on network menu) and then use the ethernet port on your Nest Wifi pro closest to give mini box internet via ethernet instead – sky mini box downloads are faster and no interference from trying to use the same wifi channels. Speeds were very good on the 2.4 and 5ghz devices however when I received my M2 MacBook Pro the first device with a wifi 6E chip e.g. the first that could take advantage of the new 6ghz band that Wifi 6E offers – the speeds and signal strength increased even further still and especially in one of the more difficult spots to reach. Definitely happy with my purchases and hopefully Google Nest continues to develop the routers long term.
Im using one as router and another as mesh, blown away with how good it is !! Highly recommended!!
Super simple to setup through google home app. As my whole house runs on google home automations it seamlessly integrates.
6E Wi-Fi is by far superior to my previous Wi-Fi 6 router. There is no interference on the 6ghz band in my area so great speeds if you early adapt. Does mean all devices will need upgrading to 6E to take full advantage, but this was not complicated (just a little pricey) for my setup.
As Australia doesn’t sell this yet, this is the best way to obtain. Needs UK power adapter though but these can be brought on Amazon for about $12 so not that big of deal.
Has been poor when new, but firmware has helped a lot…sure it can get better still
Item: 3-Pack
For context we have the 250mb Virgin Media package with the Hub 3, we were getting awful wifi coverage (low speeds and drop outs) with the hub 3 so I wanted to upgrade to something that would allow us to get our paid for speed across the whole house.
In short the 3-pack Google WiFi Pro units have fixed our drop outs and we now have great WiFi across the house and I can get 250mb on wifi in most rooms on most of my devices. As a part of my setup I have also bought a Ethernet Switch so that in my front room all my TV devices can be connected via ethernet (PS5, Google TV, TV, Hue Hub, Sonos). I will also be doing the same for the room I use as a home office as my work laptop has an older WiFi card but when plugged in will work off the Google WiFi pro mesh system which is over the faster 6E.
In my opinon setup is very easy via the Google Home app and if you are already a part of this ecosystem setup is similar to any other google products you have added where essentially you find the product via a search and the app sets it up for you.
If you have no technical knowledge whatsover you may need to do some research or get someone who can help you as you will need to do things such as put your exsiting router into modem mode.
I have seen other reviewers state problems with BT internet but from my point of view it works perfectly with Virgin Media and has been a massive upgrade on their sub standard router. It has also allowed me to tuck away the Virgin router and just have these on show which I think looks better as they aren’t too big and pretty miniamilistic.
Very happy with the purchase and although the cost is more than some systems for me to future proof with WiFi 6E and have it all tied into the Google ecosystem which I have many products it was worth it.
Would reccomend.
All great so far, very easy to set-up, have replaced my sky q mesh (and sky q) and Wi-Fi speeds are x10.
Bought the 3 pack to replace 4 sky boxes and coverage is pretty good.
Super fast wifi with low latency. Bought original wifi Google mesh but output was only Max 500mbs on 1000mbs line. New google wifi pro doubled the speed and latency very low so everything works super fast now. Just buy converter for plug into socket as original unit comes with UK connectio
Easy to setup, easily covered my small house with stable wifi connection. Three units are probably over kill to be honest as even one unit give a good WiFi setup.
Previously we had a Netgear nighthalk R8000 router combined with the Circle app for parental controls but experienced many issues with slow speeds and frequent drop outs as well as a few black spot areas around the house where signal was virtually nonexistent.
After conducting some research we decided to invest in the Google nest pro wifi and are very happy we did, set up was a breeze despite it not recognising the new WiFi device immediately. The Google app detected the issue and solved it with clear and precise instructions.
We purchased the three pack and have one downstairs plugged into the modem and two in bedrooms. The system has been running for over a week now and we are consistently achieving over 800mbps speed with no drop out so far, previously we were achieving around 100mbps and it was very unstable.
We no longer have any black spot areas and can even pick up WiFi at the back of our garden which is approximately 15 meters from the router!
The Google app is very good, you can see all devices and categorise them for parental controls etc. This is another reason we chose this system is for the parental controls, they are completely free (whereas many alternatives charge a monthly/annual subscription fee) and you can set up bedtimes/lunch/dinner so all is done automatically.
We have managed to pair our Amazon Echo’s/dots, Philips hue & hive devices seamlessly.
The only item we had to purchase in addition was an Ethernet splitter as the Google WiFi pro’s only have two ports each. We have added the splitter to the main device linked to our modem and noticed no reduction in performance.
Cosmetically they look great, very sleek and take up minimum space.
In our household with two teenage sons WiFi is everything and this device has completely transformed our service.
I have seen on other reviews that some people were having issues with certain broadband providers but we are with Virgin media Gig1 and are very impressed with the results.
Love the design and the mesh works really well for me, has helped us get internet to those hard to reach places!
Much better than my last mesh from a different brand.
Moved from Google Nest to Google Nest Pro. My internet speed dropped from 900mbps to 200mbps, when streaming on the TV the internet becomes unusable on other devices. After giving it a couple of days I have reverted to my previous setup, getting full speed again and will be returning the Pro asap.
>> Update after firmware update, now working as expected.
This review might help out someone in a similar position.
We have a 3-bed semi property across two floors. Previous mesh setup was the ‘Netgear Nighthawk Mesh’ (also known as MK62 or MR60 router). In total, I’ve been using one of their routers and three satellites. Never really happy with this setup, although it did a decent job when it worked.
We’re currently on the Gig1 fibre with Virgin Media, using their latest Hub 5 in ‘modem mode’. I purchased the new Nest WiFi Pro on 31st Oct 2022 and bought two lots of their three packs. Setup was a breeze and the units operate as: x1 router and x5 satellites.
Overall, fairly happy with how it’s all working. Standing right by the router, I can easily see around 600-700mb on WiFi. Around all the other satellites, the average tends to be around 200mb download. Yes, it would be great to see higher speeds, but 200mb pretty much covers all my main use scenarios.
I’ve also noticed my Arlo CCTV working a lot better than before, especially as we have around 6 of their WiFi cameras around the house and outside. So that’s been the biggest improvement for us. Same could be said for the Ring doorbell.
It’s early days but I’m fairly pleased with the stability and speeds we’re seeing. 760 for all this WiFi 6E tech seems to be a decent price, especially when compared to other systems on the market. Would be great to see more thoughts/reviews from other Virgin Gig1 users?
Ridiculously easy to set up. I get excellent coverage throughout a 4 bed house and no drops in connection so far. Internet speed is as expected, I have connected it to all my Ring devices, tvs, laptop, phones etc. Only issue is that it doesn’t connect to my additional Bt you view box. I get a weak signal in my garage that I may have to buy an additional unit for. But so far so good.
