A Complete Solution

The smart water bottle that tracks your water intake and lights up to remind you to drink through our free HidrateSpark App powered by Bluetooth. Stay healthy and hydrated with HidrateSpark PRO!

How does the bottle track my water intake?

When you drink out of the bottle, the sensor puck in the base of the bottle measures how much you drank and transfers this data to the free HidrateSpark App, so it can track your progress.

How do I care for my bottle?

Lids are top-rack dishwasher safe. Bottle bodies are hand-wash only. Sensor puck should not be submerged in water and should be removed before cleaning. If you need to clean the sensor puck, wipe with a damp cloth only.

Can I use hot liquids in my bottle?

No! The HidrateSpark PRO is not for warm liquids. Hot contents can create internal pressure resulting in discharge of hot liquids that can cause injury.

How often will I need to charge the bottle?

The HidrateSpark PRO holds a charge for 10-14 days with regular, every day use.

How long will it keep my water cold?

The HidrateSpark PRO is vacuum insulated to keep water cold for 24 hours.

Have had this bottle for about a year. Gives me a reminder to drink water but I found after a few weeks I’m drinking more after without having to wait for the reminder. I charge it about me every two weeks and my water intake went from 14 ounces a day average to now over 64. Ai ke wirelessly to an app on y iPhone. There work colleagues purchased one and ow our organization is looking at giving them as branded Christmas gifts.

I was very excited about this water bottle as I like to keep track of my daily water intake but often forget. In that regard this water bottle is great! It tracks my water intake pretty accurately as far as I can tell and the battery on the puck actually lasts significantly longer then I anticipated. I also like that it is small enough to fit in my cars cup holder.
My cons are that the puck doesn’t fit snugly enough and falls out on occasion. Luckily I’ve noticed it every time but that luck surely won’t hold. My other con is that there is no handle to use to carry so I have to wrap my hand around the whole water bottle or tuck it under my arm to carry it. And honestly it really loses it there for me. I take a water bottle with me everywhere I go so not having an easy was to transport it gets annoying.
Overall I like the water bottle and I will continue using it until I lose the puck or it stops working but I won’t be getting another one when that time comes.

We love our Hidrate Spark Pro bottles. My family has 6 of them. I always buy from Hidrate.com, but this time I ordered from Amazon to get the color my daughter wanted. But it came without a charging cable. She can’t take it to college without a charger. Disappointed!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs we all struggle with the extreme temperatures triggered by global warming, we have been admonished by our doctors, especially those of us older folks taking strong medications that require adequate hydration for proper infusion and flushing from our bodies afterwards, to drink at least 64 oz. of water a day. When I was told that I wondered how I could possibly drink that much water every day! But, my daughter, who now lives in Alabama, told me her doctor prescribed a smart water bottle for her and urged me to try it.

Although specialists in Alabama can evidently prescribe smart water bottles, I wasn’t sure about doctors here in Oregon so I just went up on Amazon and bought one. The smart bottle my daughter recommended is called a HidrateSpark. It comes in various configurations but I selected the 21 oz. version with a straw-style top. There is a version with a chug-style top as well.

The bottle has a Bluetooth-enabled “puck” screwed into the bottom that you charge via a USB cable. It communicates with the HidrateSpark app on your phone that can be downloaded for free from either the App Store or Google play depending on whether your phone is an iPhone or Android device.

I downloaded the app and provided my height, weight, and activity level and the app calculated based on that specific information that I actually should be drinking 70 oz of water every day (sigh…). I charged the puck – this took overnight for the first use. (It’s been a while since I bought my last USB splitter and it may be just USB 2.0. If your computer has USB 3.0 it may charge a little faster during the initial charge.) While the puck is charging, it flashes green lights periodically until it becomes fully charged then the lights will be on solid. After the first full charge, though, it will stay charged for a couple of days and the next charge will be much faster.

My first blunder was assuming the bottle, once charged, would be automatically detected so I was confused when I filled the bottle and drank some of the water that the app did not appear to register the amount. Then I realized that you have to press the “bottles” icon, add new bottle, provide the capacity (in my case 21 oz.) then the app will search for and “discover” the bottle. Once it is discovered (paired through Bluetooth), however, you won’t need to do that again. After each drink you need to set the bottle down on a level surface for a few seconds within 30 ft of your phone to allow the information to “sync” over Bluetooth. If you take your water bottle on a walk, you just drink from it as needed then “sync” it to your phone when you return (I usually don’t take my phone with me when I walk my little dog since I am just walking around the perimeter of our five acres.)

The app also has an icon of a large drop of water. You use this icon whenever you drink from any other source. I prefer to drink ice water from a glass at meals and whatever beverage container I use when I’m drinking a protein shake or a cup of hot chocolate. This “other source” feature actually enables you to record your fluid intake without a smart water bottle if you want to and the app is free. You can select from a default list of beverages and the app will automatically calculate the water content. To access an expanded list, however, you are offered an in-app subscription purchase of $1.99 per month. I try to avoid these small subscription fees because I think they represent a “death by 10,000 cuts” to your bank account! My daily protein shake and hot chocolate are about 80% water and I can do the math in my head. I don’t need a monthly subscription to calculate it automatically for me!

If you do purchase the smart water bottle, you also have the option to customize the color of the puck’s reminder glow but this too requires the “Pro” subscription. Hey, the default color is fine with me!
The puck glows periodically if you have not taken a drink and you have not recorded water consumption from anywhere else. At first, I didn’t think it was working because I begin each day with a variety of water, juice, hot chocolate, etc. that I record after breakfast so the app considers me well hydrated for a while. Yesterday, though, I was concentrating so hard on image editing that I didn’t notice how much time had passed and the bottle began to glow and pinged my phone with a little text message telling me it was time to take a drink. It reminded me a couple of more times throughout the day and I was able to meet my goal of 70 oz of water by the time bedtime arrived.

One small observation about the instruction manual. It is printed in such a tiny font I could not read it even with my 2.5X readers. So, I went online and downloaded a pdf of the file so I could zoom in and read it more comfortably.

Another first time blunder occurred when I attempted to upend the bottle to take a drink and wondered why the water didn’t come out evenly. With the straw-style cap you need to suck on the spout like a straw! I know – its the simple things that ultimately get you! If you want to drink by upending the bottle, you need to choose the “chug” cap instead. By the way, the caps are dishwasher safe but don’t put the bottle with puck attached in the dishwasher!

Anyway, the smart water bottle is proving to be helpful and will hopefully keep my doctors happy!

Purchased this to meet my health goal of increasing water intake. This is fantastic! Very easy to set up and use. Glow feature flashes for reminders throughout the day, and I have it set to glow when I take a drink and it uploads to the app via Bluetooth.
The app calculates an recommended daily intake based on activity level, local weather, and body type. So far I’m on a 14 day streak of meeting the goal! Very sturdy as well and has survived a drop with no damage whatsoever.
Good idea for those who want to visualize their progress and help with motivation. Well worth the price to pay!
    Highly recommend!

I can’t seem to drink enough water, I think because it’s boring and I never have a bottle nearby. As silly as it seems, this bottle has really helped me out, and the reminders from the bottle and the app have been effective. The app is easy to use, and so far the bottle has kept its charge for a week. It seems like it never fully charges like the instructions say, but that doesn’t appear to matter. Everything else works like it should, and I’m finally drinking enough water.

The water bottle is pretty awesome. Less than two hours to charge the puck. The instructions and care specs are clear. The bottle is smoothe. It’s balanced on the table when it sits flat to calibrate. The charging wire is even nice. The only downside is the color is pink and as much as I love the color, I can only adjust it if I pay either monthly or annually. There are several other features the subscription unlocks, but that one is the most in your face. The bottle serves it’s purpose and I like how cold it keeps the water.

I have only had this for a few weeks but really had no idea how much water I was drinking. After a recent visit to the urologist for kidney stones, she mentioned I should up my water intake, so I order this bottle to help remind me and to track my water intake. So far so good. I have met my goal every day I have used it, sometimes by 50%. I’m hoping that consistent use will hydrate my skin, reduce my hunger, and help flush toxins from my body. It’s super easy to use with my iPhone and the app that syncs to the bottle and records how much I drink (as I drink it). It also lights up when I haven’t picked it up in a while. Very happy with it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDoes this water bottle help me drink more water? Yes. The app it comes with is very handy and the glowing lights on the bottle are easily customizable. I also really like that the app give you achievements for big milestones, lots of good stuff in there and it’s all easy to use. The water bottle battery is also surprisingly good, I only have to charge it once per 3 weeks. I do feel like the price is high, you are really paying for that app more than the bottle. The bottle is just a standard metal bottle outside of the glowing light part.

After reading all the reviews good and not so good I ordered the 620ml bottle mid April 23. I love this bottle it has helped me drink so much more water.

Yes you have to be quite disciplined re filling it and placing it on a flat surface but I don’t mind this. I think it holds its charge quite well and last longer than an Apple Watch charge does.

I love how you can earn badges and the funny little notification messages you get via the App.

I have definitely found benefits from owning this bottle

The main reason I got this was to keep track of my real time water intake, and it does that very well! The only real issue I have is being spoiled by various tumbler brands that keep ice for 24+ hours, this does ok but not nearly as insulated as I’m used to, which has made me a cold water snob. I was really hoping for that level of insulation since I would hopefully be using this while outdoors, hiking, walking, ect..

Bottle is good, design is not my favourite there is other non smart water bottles out there that looks so much better this imo. Slightly annoying that you have to put down your bottle every time to make sure the bottle measure precisely or when you refill. I wish there would be a button you can press to start the measurements.
My biggest issue is with the mobile app tho. I am a night owl, that means I am awake way past midnight. The app doesnt let you change when the day starts or finish, so most of the time if I dont drink anything after midnight and wake up 9-10 am I am already behind of schedule and to reach my daily goal I have to drink so much so quickly that makes me feel so bad. I wish I could tell the app that my day ends 2am and starts at 9 am so I am not forced to drink so much, just to catch up with my daily intake. (the app starts the day at 6 am, like there is no way I am going to wake up at the middle of night just to drink, unless there is a plane to catch I am sleeping till 9) So yeah, recommended but not a perfect product imo.

I just got the product delivered today and I’ve gotta say, initial setup was a little confusing.

When you unpack the bottle, you’ll notice the made in China” feeling after seeing the manual that’s delivered inside the bottle. I’ve had the app downloaded for 4 days or so already, and today tried to connect the bottle; the initial pairing happened on the UI/UX side (in the app) and I can see the checkmarks there saying it’s paired and all that, but the bottle wasn’t glowing. I was expecting at least an initial reaction that the bottle’s working just fine.

After following the calibration wizard, the bottle was still not measuring the water intake initially; this made me think it’s out of battery so I just put the puck to charge, then it started blinking green and knew it’s working.

Left it 20-30m approx. to charge, then re-paired it again and re-followed the calibration wizard. It was now when the app was working as intended.

To conclude, I was expecting at least some initial guidance that the bottle doesn’t glow initially when you unpack it out of the box, but you’d have to charge it first to get it’s first reaction. Overall, I’m satisfied by it, it does what it say, measures the water intake; the price is a bit too high though for the made in China” feeling if I’d have to say how much I’d pay for this, I’d say it deserves 30,00 maximum, and I’m being generous.

Water bottle is okay, I like that it tracks your water intake and logs it every time you take a sip on the app and I like that it notifies you if you aren’t drinking enough. It has definitely increased my water consumption since purchasing.

I was very disappointed that the description suggests it links with Garmin but it doesn’t actually transfer the data across to the Garmin App, I think the product images and description are quite misleading it only links with one version of the Garmin watch which isn’t clear from the description.

I purchased the brushed steel colour and having received it on Wednesday (less than a week ago) I am a bit disappointed that the bottle is already scratched from being put in a cup holder in the car, images included. The bottle fit in the holder nicely but it has marked it quite significantly which is disappointing given the price, I’ve never had this issue before with bottles made of the same material.

Im also not impressed with the battery life. I was led to believe 10-14 days battery, I have it set to only flash if I am below my target and maximum 8 times per day and I’ve had it 6 days and it’s below 50% charged having been charged to full power before I started using it so I don’t think it will last 14 days.

I think the biggest thing for me is the lack of compatibility with Garmin, that was my main reason for buying this brand so hopefully in the near future this integration will be improved.

I’m on the fence with my review as it does log the water well and it has increased my water consumption but I think if I knew what I do now I probably wouldn’t have purchased it given the price and lack of compatibility.

Also worth noting there is an additional cost to pay if you want to be able to fully customise the colour options which seems a bit ridiculous given the price.

    Doesn’t integrate well with garmi

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWhen I first got this bottle, I was pretty mad. It’s expensive for a water bottle and I couldn’t figure it out. But some online research helped. The instructions that came with the bottle were not good. Whenever refilling or drinking, most importantly when refilling, the bottle needs to sit on a flat surface for 10 seconds until it lights up. I have the habit of refilling and sipping immediately. So oops, that water wasn’t counted.

Pros: 1) it tracks the water and keeps it pretty cold, 2) I don’t have to walk around with some giant jug of water or remember how many smaller bottles I drank to track 128oz, 3) the free app works well and doesn’t have any hidden charges (you have to pay extra to do color designs on the light up portion of the bottle, but that’s just a dumb extra), 4) the standard light up color options are pretty, 5) the app allows you to manually enter water.

Cons: 1) I’ll be so mad if I lose this water bottle as it is pricey, 2) the straw doesn’t work if you tighten the lid so leaky water bottle, 3) the charger is super unique, 4) the battery only lasts a few days for me and it takes a while to charge, 5) the water bottle is really wobbly, 6) it has to be set on a very hard surface to track/light up – no grass, etc. and (7) you can only snooze the light up part of it for 3 hours so if I take a sip in the middle of the night it lights up and it is super bright!

It’s a fun toy once you figure out how it works.

What can I say – be patient, let it calibrate, let it sync and don’t sweat being a couple of mil out.

Manage your expectations and definitely charge the puck until the LED lights are solid.
Been using for 3 days now and am totally happy with my purchase.
Reminders are perfect and drinking goals throughout the day are achievable and well managed by the app.
I have the 500ml and possible should have gone slightly larger as I do find myself refilling a lot during the day but that’s the point right? To reach your water consumption.

Once I take a couple of glugs, I set the bottle down and wait and the base glows which shows me it has measured my last consumption.

Also be patient when refilling, set the bottle down and wait for it to confirm the calibration, this is seconds unless you have placed the bottle on an uneven surface or the liquid is still sloshing about. Be gentle and you’ll be fine.

If you want to measure your water intake to the milliliter then this bottle isn’t for you.

If, like me, you went for weeks without drinking any water then this is a must have if you want to start feeling less lethargic almost immediately. Be prepared for more trips to the toilet too. It is inevitable..

Love it! Only downside is you can’t use with hot liquids or carbonated drinks but I only really use mine for water anyway as I use it to try to be healthier! I love that you can change the colour of the light, I have mine on rainbow! Whenever I drink from it (and I’ve had mine for ages now) I wait to watch the bottle glow! Nobody can even continue a conversation until it’s glowed I get so excited like a little kid! The app is easy to use and you can add hydration from other sources of you’ve drank from something other than the bottle. I love that you can buy spare parts for it incase of damage or wanting to clean (ei buying spares of the part that holds the water so you always have a clean one to hand)! The app notifications can get annoying but you that’s personal preference and you can change them in the app really easily! I rarely leave reviews but this was totally worth it! I did worry it would be a waste of money but I already own three metal water bottles so figured I might as well give it a go!

Golden Review Award: 50 From Our UsersI’ve thoroughly enjoyed using the bottle and have had mine for 8 months or so. I gave it 4 stars, but wish I could give it 4.5 instead. There are some quirks you have to be aware of. Nonetheless, I would absolutely buy it again.

    Pros:
    – Bottle is accurate (if you’re using it correctly)
    – Insulation is good. Water stays cold.

    Cons:
    – Because the bottle measures volume by weight, it cannot sense that you’ve consumed liquid until you set the bottle down on a flat surface. This is actually a pretty smart way to go about it, but it’s easy to accidentally cause the sensor in the bottle to under or over measure the volume (see tips 1 and 2 for how to avoid this)
    – Syncing is sometimes an issue. There are times when the bottle takes a long time to sync with the app or doesn’t sync at all until I restart the app or restart my phone
    – It’s next to impossible to find replacements for the charger online, and when I checked Hidrate’s website, they did not have it in stock. Without the charger, you’ve spent a lot of money on just another water bottle.
    – The sensor puck will sometimes fall out if it is even a little bit loose. Picking it up, setting it down, vibrations, etc. If it’s not locked in all the way, eventually it will fall out.

Tip 1: Never set the bottle down on a table unless the lid is on. When you fill the bottle and set it on the counter, the sensor assumes that the cap is on and calculates the volume of water accordingly. If you haven’t attached the cap, this will lead to it under-measuring the amount of water you put into it.

Tip 2: Never drink from the bottle without setting it down. Normally this isn’t a problem, since most people would naturally set the bottle down after taking a sip. But this is most important when you are getting ready to refill the bottle. When you take your final sip from the bottle, don’t immediately fill it. Set the bottle down for about five seconds to let the sensor register that the bottle is empty. The same goes for immediately after filling the bottle. After refilling the bottle, never drink from it before setting it down. When the sensor lights up, you’re good to go.

Tip 3: Have a routine for charging the sensor. You don’t need to charge it every day, since the charge lasts for about a week, but it’s a pretty big disappointment when you forget. I charge mine every night just to be sure.

As other people have said, the bottle is wobbly. It is also quite heavy and the straw version is not the best when comparing to other regular bottles with a straw. Otherwise, very solid. You just need to remember to put the bottle down on a service with the cap on before taking a sip immediately after filling. I am sure the company will keep refining the product and I most likely will get next generations too.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersOk, so I purchased one of these six months ago to try and get my water consumption up, I liked the reminders and lights to make me think. Believe it or not sometimes I wasn’t noticing when under pressure I was actually thirsty until I got a headache. The bottle works by weighing the bottle all the time so it knows by weight how much you have consumed. It also knows when you have filled it up from the weight increase. It works very well indeed and is a great way to determine water consumed. I am not paranoid about the exact quantity of water down to the exact ml consumed as long as it’s roughly ok and to be honest it really is pretty accurate. It also looks very good quality and cool especially with the lights etc. although I would never pay for additional light features in the app. It also keeps the drink nicely cool and is easy to rinse out, you can drop some ice in if you want so all in all very pleased. In my experience the battery lasts nearly two weeks before it needs a recharge, I tend to put it on charge each weekend when I don’t really use it. The link to the iPhone works just find, connects easily and stays connected, app is very well designed and simple and also works with your Apple watch if you have one.

One minor bad bit, at 65 a bottle it is one expensive water bottle so you would think for that price you would at least get a good warranty or extraordinary quality. The quality is good don’t get me wrong, not extraordinary and all you get is 100 days warranty which is not long at all. In my case I perhaps found the design weakness and for me it the cover on the STEEL’s straw lid is plastic and very weak at the hinge and cracked on one side maybe poor plastic quality, certainly no knocks. It does not exactly get a lot of wear as most of the time the cover lid is open and straw out, get topped up twice a day and sits on my home office desk. I could still use it without the lid I guess.

I contacted Hidrate Inc. to see if I could buy a new one via their customer support. The customer support was in that exceptional tier in responding and offered me money off a new lid if I told them the order number after ordering, there was one catch. The spare lids is only available on their US web site (May 2021) and although they will ship to the UK it will set you back $12 international shipping for the privilege! So, all in all the new lid would have set me back $17 after there discount including the shipping or around 12 so I checked back with their customer support and they also added a postage discount for me bring the replacement cost down to 8.47 which I think is extremely reasonable, along with exceptional customer service. Only thing I would say if Hidrate Inc. read this is if they sell on the UK Amazon store and they have a UK web site, why not sell and ship this in the UK.

It is expensive but if you need reminding to drink a bit more water during a high pressure day it is worth it at 65 so give it a try.

Love it! Keeps my water cool all day and the rechargeable is a lot better than the replaceable batteries in the plastic hidrate bottles which I found I was constantly replacing.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI first discovered the Hidrate water bottles when they launched their bottle that just glowed green. I had been searching for a ‘smart bottle’ for a few months and wanted to take the time to make sure it had everything I wanted before I spent the money. Fast forward a few months and I come back to look at it again and I find the Spark Steel! I am so glad I waited, and to be honest, I couldn’t really find any other brands that offered a smart bottle like this- very unique.
I am terrible at keeping track of things like the time I spend exercising and what I eat/drink throughout the day and I had noticed that I had some days where I just didn’t feel well, seemingly by no fault of my own. Lo and behold, after using this bottle for a few weeks, I’ve learned that the days that I don’t quite hit my 80oz mark leave me feeling less-than the next day while I try to get rehydrated. It’s helped me develop a schedule and I now have an idea of how much water and by what time I need to drink it to complete my goal. You can choose to have the bottle flash only when you’re behind or just remind you in general, up to 10 times a day. (Wish that could be increased because sometimes I walk away from my bottle on my desk and miss the alert- first world problems) I love that you have the choice to make it flash even when you’re ahead because I helps me STAY ahead of my target and reminds me when I haven’t thought about drinking for a few hours. You can also set your ‘Wake up’ and ‘Bed Time’ so the bottle won’t flash at times of the morning/night where you do not want to be bothered by the light.
The manual entry on it is easy but a little confusing- they have a few pre-programmed volumes (8, 12, 17) but if you drag the ‘water line’ (see pic) up and down, you can customize the amount. It took me a few days to figure out so I wanted to mention it.
The glow settings on it are not plentiful- only six pre-loaded ones- but if you care (I didn’t), you can spend a few bucks to download their glow-customizing app. I was most excited about the rainbow setting that comes automatically so I just stick to that and have not bothered with the customizer.
The app is simple and gives you a read of the battery’s power level so I can plan ahead when I know it’s gonna be a charge night. It does take upwards of two hours to give a dead battery a full charge, but it lasts about a week for me.
I had tried looking into Fitbit’s ‘Q&A’ to see if their were any bottles on the market that could be integrated with the app but I couldn’t really find any information. I WAS SO EXCITED when the bottle arrived and the side of the box said “WORKS WITH FITBIT!!!” I probably could have read a little more on the Hidrate website and discovered that ahead of time but it was a nice little surprise! Connecting the apps was extremely simple and after the Fitbit app did a push (~30min later, don’t freak out if it’s not working right away. Bless fitbit’s heart but they need a lot of upgrades where communication between integrated clock faces and apps are concerned) from its servers, the water count in the fitbit app started to update itself automatically. And, AND!! Based on your exercise and other metrics that my Fitbit Sense keeps track of, it can up or lower your recommended ‘Hidrate goal’ for the day. There was one day where I drank over 100oz of water and so it dropped me by about 15oz the next day because I didn’t need as much hydration. Alternatively, on days where I had workouts longer than an hour (I stay in peak heart rate to the best of my ability, too) it will bump me up a little to compensate for all the sweating. Make sure you open both your fitbit & Hidrate app and sync it at least once a day to make sure everyone is accurately swapping information.

Overall, fantastic product and well-worth the price. It’s accurate and fun and I never have to wonder if I’m dehydrated again. Hoping that one day they’ll launch a larger size (perhaps around 50oz?) but if volume is the only downside, are there really any downsides? Do it. Put it in your cart and purchase it.

Favorite water bottle I've ever purchased.

Had this a few days now and is does a great job of keeping track of my water intake. Really easy to setup. The app is great to use and also able to add a intake percentage to my Apple Watch. My only concern is the puck at the bottom seems to come loose very easy, especially if you screw the lid on while the bottle is on a surface.

Amazing bottle, keeps my drink cold overnight with no problem, tracks my water intake and reminds me to drink (I’m autistic so this gives me a level of independence on that). Great quality and sturdy desig

    Funktion (App)

    Super Flasche ... unterdurchschnittliche App

Making it more fun to track your water intake as well as the benefit of having it synched directly to Apple Health, makes this bottle a “steel” 🙂 . But it truly works, it has been drinking my water every day and that’s good for me. Quality, fit and finish is top notch.

    Fazit:
Super Flasche, sehr gut verarbeitet, lange Akkulaufzeit,
individuelle Lichteffekte einstellbar, Apple Health Integration,

Daher gibt’s jetzt 5 Sterne.
