This is the massive bike chain we wanted to protect our bike and our friends’ bikes. Can only imagine a thief will take one look at this monster and move on to an easier target. We’re happy!
Macht sehr soliden Eindruck und die Funktion es Grtel zu tragen ist auch nicht schlecht. Einziges Manko fr mich war die Lnge, hab mich dann doch fr die “Homie” variante entschieden um mein Fahrrad auch mal an eine Laterne anschlieen zu knnen.
I was looking for a home security system for my bike…NOT something to haul around with me on my rides. This chain is a BEHEMOTH!!! It’s thick and heavy and intimidating and ……. sexy. I did deep research before buying this chain and I know that nothing is “unbreakable”. That being said, this does NOT make it easy for a thief. I sleep easier at night knowing this chain is curled around my bike.

This chain is meant to stay wherever you keep your bike (mine is in a relatively flimsy shed) and secures the bike normally to an anchoring point (I have one of these from the same manufacturer). It seems very sturdy and is nice and long so apparently does the job well. So far nobody has tried to steal me e-bike (hence the four stars), but if an attempt is made then I will change this review taking into account the result. Meanwhile I have satisfied my insurer by providing Gold Standard protection for the bike.
One other positive point is the tough tube which surrounds the chain and keeps the bike from being scratched.
Heavy and strong the lock is fiddly to locksand doesn’t click to close you have to turn the key and hold it together which makes it hard to close in actual use. Expect to ding frame because of this.
Heavy duty “stay at home” lock I read at least one review expecting this lock to be wearable. It isn’t difficult to read that this is meant to stay wherever you intend to lock your bike on a regular and perhaps daily basis. This does just that. I have a few bikes and I use 2 d locks (abus granit extreme) and a chain. No thefts and no attempts even though over the course of three months seven bikes had been stolen from the same storage / bicycle loops mainly secured with cable locks that could be cut with a pair of garden shears but the kids did use portable angle grinders anyway!
Bought to lock bikes up in the garage, using with a wall/ground anchor. I’ll be the first to admit if someone is hell-bent on getting them, they will, but bought this more as a deterrent to put scallys off due to the effort/noise in getting past it.
It is chunky and heavy! Definitely something to stay at home. Obviously haven’t tested the chain against bolt-cutters/hacksaw or angle grinder but looks and feels like its something that will be a challenge. The chain is wrapped in a thick nylon fabric which protects your bikes/belongings.
The lock feels substantial and also looks well protected from people trying to attack the shackle itself. Had no problems locking/unlocking.
The chain is long enough to go through a wall anchor and around the frames of four bikes so does what I need I think if we had any more bikes I’d buy another chain and anchor.
It wasn’t cheap but its weighing up the cost of what its protecting and the hassle of replacing the bikes if they did get stolen. In my book its worth spending a few % of the cost of the bike(s) to protect them.

Does what it says. Fits really well with my ground anchor. Would recommend for piece of mind anytime.
Looks very strong. The cloth covering of the chain stops it damaging any part of my bike it rubs against. I would buy it agai
Great chain, could of been alittle longer but this is the length of chain you get from other manufacturers. Go’s great with the Hiplok ANKR.
The newer version does not have the black plastic cover on top of the key. This is when you know you have got the new and improved version of key. As its slightly different to the other type of key.
I now have a superb road bike and mountain bikebut once you spend a lot of money your thoughts turn to security. I bought this as my bikes are in the garage but wanted a more secure lock than the one I use now. I was not disappointed when it arrived. Just by looking at it it shouts “Don’t mess with me” Can it be cut and my bike stolen definitely but it would take someone 10 mins if not more with angle grinder, bolt cutters forget it would not do the job. Risk making all that noise yes if you are stupid enough so as a deterent to thieves and a piece of mind it is money definitely well spent…hopefully I will never need to find out how tough it is.
Good value lock, heavy as hell though and not mega easy to snap shut, it requires you put the key in the lock first.
For the cost though these aren’t complaints
Great lock, It can be taken anywhere. Invested in this lock after my last bike was stolen. Key are long as easy to work padlock, chain is long and heavy but I think that is an advantage for safety. Tried researching before I bought it and happy with it, I think it is one of the best locks you can buy.
To do this, I’ve installed two ‘ground anchors’ to the wall and needed a quality chain to secure the bikes to it.
This Hiplock one is 10mm thick, which should stop all but the hugest of bolt cutters (another reason I chain to the wall and not the floor) – It’s also ‘Sold Secure Gold’ rated, which is required by my insurance company.
Obviously it wouldn’t hold up too well to an angle grinder, but then nothing much would. It’s more about deterrent for the thieves really.
The chain comes with a nice solid padlock, three keys and a ‘mounting/storage’ hook so you can hang it on the wall when not in use. This hook also doubles as a helmet holder, which is a nice touch.
The only negative I have is that I’d like it to have maybe been a little longer (180cm would be ideal for my application) but I can’t fault the chain for that. It would also massively increase the price, which at 60 including the padlock is a complete bargain.
I was impressed enough with my initial purchase, that I then I bought another one for double security. 🙂
Good solid chain. Read plenty of reviews and convinced this gives me the best security for my bike. Got 4 stars as I’d noticed the key had bent very easily. There are 3 keys and I’ve a code to apply for replacements so not overly concerned if they break.
I bought this to lock 3 bikes. It is long enough to get round three bikes through both each frame and one wheel per bike, plus the frame I am securing it to. I use another lock to secure the other wheels on the bikes. This chain heavy so you would not want to wear it, so it really is a Stay at Home chain. Does what is is meant to do. Great.
