Can’t use cheaper ink. Forced to by very expensive stuff.
Printing is decent
Doesn’t have any issues connecting to phone
Was unable to connect tot Wi-Fi
The HP ink feature was also unable to activated
Printer was as expecte,d replacing a previous HP printer that had done good service
Easty to set up and install. Even I managed it!
Agood around printer, bit difficult to set up. It needs a mobile all to work it to it full capacity, INSTANT INK A MUST.
Although it says 4120e on the box, when connecting to the WiFi it comes up as 4100 ? I’d appreciate a reply with advice thanks
Delivered the next day and since ordering 5 days ago has gone up 20 so good value for money. Fairly easy to install and good printing quality.
My code for extra ink is 1nkfff please feel free to use i
Great printer, very easy to set up. Great subscription scheme where they send you ink when you’re nearly running out. Love that you can get 3 months free ink
Use code dkyxf2 for extra 3 months free on top of your 6 months free
Great printer. Easy to set up and print from phone/iPad. Signed up for the instant ink and used a promotion code so have 9 months free ink. The printer is quiet and looks great. In my opinion this is a good buy and good value for money.
The HP scans, copies, and prints – yes it is a basic model but then most of us only have basic printing needs. I’ve printed quite a lot so far, and it’s all come out properly. So I am fairly chuffed.
The code that you can use for an extra 3 months of free printing: 8yzd7g
Needed a new printer to do the basics , print off documents and tickets etc and this ticks all the boxes. Good quality printing a a good price, and with the free for six months instant ink it makes it even more value for money.
Was nervous how easy set up would be but followed instructions enclosed and initially set up using my mobile and the HP smart app. Once set up found it very easy to get working on two laptops that are all using the same wifi at home. The free 6 months instantink is for 700pages per month, I extended this using a code found here by another reviewer. Feel free to use my refer a friend code p1kmng which should give you 3 months extra free ink at this rate, so 9 months in total, which, being honest with you, should then mean I get further free ink (code valid until April 30th).. you can then do the same by reviewing and pasting your code for future purchasers.
Quality of printing and ease of app use on mobile seem great so far, have successfully printed photos from mobile and documents from laptops.
If you’re like me, usually skeptical of anything on the cheaper side to do with technology, don’t be! This product is amazing, I downloaded the app and from then it showed me exactly what to do and now I can print straight from my phone!
The printer was very easy to set up and within minutes I had printed some information that I needed. The quality of the ink print was very good as well.
All in all the printer which only cost me 39 to buy, is very good value for the money that I paid for it and I am recommending the printer to anyone who like myself is on a tight budge
Set-up was super easy and I now don’t have to buy ink for 9 months after the HP 6 month trial and another users referral code.
And if you can enroll before 30th April you can get an extra 3 months instant ink too if you use my code ycy3t6. Win wi
(in the process I proved the printer was working by connecting directly to it (from iPhone to printer and not via my Wi-Fi/broadband-router).
First I couldn’t see using the HP Smart(!) app on my Chromebook.
Then I did see it and connected it up via my iPhone.
Then it failed to register to HP (after several attempts).
Was about to call HP but then I decided to reset the printer (press a combo of buttons with the front flap open) and ‘hide’ the printer in the HP Smart App as one last attempt.
And at last it connected! (and I signed up to Instant Ink – 6 month trial with an extra 3 months using a code from one of the reviews here – thanks to whoever it was! My code if you want an additional three months free: z3btb8 ). Will see how usage goes. Will likely cancel the inking after my usage slows down/novelty wears off!
Printing seems reasonable. Can’t go wrong (apart from the set up) for 40.
Edit – typos and update: Printing is good enough for my needs (primarily black text). Did print a photo and was okay. I had to re-connect printer a couple of times but now it’s all fine.
And thanks to whomever for using my code!
Not the clearest printer but does the job. You get what your pay for.
No real complaints
While the overall performance of the printer is excellent, setting it up can be a bit of a challenge. The setup process is not particularly intuitive, and users may need to refer to the instruction manual or online resources to get the printer up and running. However, once the printer is set up, it works seamlessly and consistently.
Overall, the HP DeskJet 4120e All-in-One Color Printer is a great choice for anyone in need of a reliable and high-quality printer. While the setup process may be a bit difficult, the performance and features of the printer more than make up for it.
I tried to set it up with the app over WIFI but I soon ran into a hurdle. The app would not recognise that the printer ink door was closed despite it being so. I soon gave up with the app for setup and connected the printer to my PC via USB. The setup process worked a lot better and it was soon completed, but I ran into the next issue that went into the next day… paper alignment.
I found paper alignment to be very difficult and it did fail for me several times. It chewed up the paper many times with multiple rips, and the printer even dragged 5-10 sheets through it and didnt print properly. Thanks to YouTube, I learned how to align it properly and it has worked since. For A4 paper, the grey slidy thing in the paper loading area needs to be on the far left.
HP is very quick to show off its subscription service so that you always have supply of ink at a cheaper cost than buying it outright in the store. The way they do this is by asking how much you might print within a 4 week period.
1. Light, 10 pages = 0.99
2. Occasional, 50 pages = 2.99 (I picked this one)
3. Moderate, 100 pages = 4.49
4. Frequent, 300 pages = 9.99
5. Business, 700 pages = 22.49
You will also have to agree to use ONLY HP genuine ink which sounds anti-consumer and anti-competitive, but for me at least, it works out well if you can get a regular supply of decent ink at a low price. Thankfully, HP does not get fussy about what paper you use… unlike a certain sticker label printing company who blocks all third party paper.
Overall, I recommend this printer as it is quiet during the printing process and reliable (once set up properly). The HP+ subscription makes sense if you intend to only use a certain amount each month, and it will work out cheaper than buying HP ink in the store, and it will probably be of a better quality than a third party ink. The app isn’t the greatest for the set up process, but for everything else it is fine. This includes amount of ink remaining (estimates, of course), whether your printer has any issues, and other support you will need.
8/10
What sets this printer apart is the included 6 months of Instant Ink with HP+. It ensures that one never runs out of ink, as the printer automatically orders more when it’s needed. It’s a game-changer for me, as I no longer worry about constantly monitoring my ink levels or rushing to the store to buy more.
Overall, I highly recommend the HP DeskJet 4120e to anyone who is looking for a reliable and cost-effective printing solution.
This is an excellent printer for kids to print out homework and also for document and photo printing currently this printer comes with six months free ink..
Use this code for extra free months z5wjbk when you set up the printe
It came in a sturdy cardboard carton. By the way, it was not encased in any other box so anyone can see what it was on it’s journey, something whilst not wanting wasteful packaging, I personally am not keen on. Inside it was securely packaged too. The printer was well wedged between thich cardboard packing buffers, and was sealed in cellophane wrap. Once this was removed, and all the other smaller fiddly bits of card and tape that stopped things moving about I could actually start setting up the printer.
The first task was to download the HP Smart App. Then, with the simple instruction I set to work getting the printer connected to my network. I am slow and methodical about this sort of thing, so, it did take me about 15 minutes. But, it was relatively simple. Lots of things to agree to on the way. I guess this is important because of GDPR in Europe but still a pain in the bum. I then discovered I had to install this HP Smart App, on my Tablet, and my laptop if I wanted them to use the printer. The phone and tablet also needed the HP Printer Service installed as well. I think it was about an hour before I actually printed a test page, and then a couple of documents from my laptop.
Because of the sensible, and necessary security protocols employed, printing is never going to be instant. For a simple, single sheet document it too about 10 seconds for the printer to come to life. For a colour print, more like 20 to 25. I will be honest, my eyesight is not good enough to objectively comment on quality, but, at first glance, the printouts I got were clear and readable and there were no gaps or smudges.
Overall, I am happy. It is not too noisy, and sits nicely in the same footprint as my old 1050, so not re arranging the stuff on the desk to accommodate it. A good buy in my book.
I’m not the most technological person but I had this up and running in 5 mins and had subscribed with the free ink for 6mths in another 5 mins . The next 3 mins was to print something off . Would highly recommend
I’ve always used Epson printers in the past, but as I now have an HP Desktop thought I would replace with an HP printer. Very pleased with the result. A nice looking printer which produces excellent prints smoothly delivered. The only downside was that it took me most of one evening to set up to connect to PC and the internet.
Lovely small printer for home printing. Great use with phone and automatic inks sent when low. Just go slow and all works fine. Easy to set up in about 20mins again just go slow and take your time.
HP instant ink setup: I signed up for the 6 months free ink trial that comes pre-loaded if you used the QR code on your mobile device during the initial setup and WITHIN 7 days of initial printer setup). Furthermore, you have to include the payment details etc right away and be careful not to dismiss the promo otherwise I dont know what happens, potentially you get charged right from the start for your chosen printing plan. I set it up for the 10 pages per month plan for 0.99. The app says you can change the plan at any time. In addition, I used some random code during the setup for the HP instant ink subscribtion that I found in the questions section (it said it will add another 2 months of free ink to my initial 6 month trial) – this was wrong, as I found out after adding this code and realising that I cannot unselect it to try to use a different one and only one code per printer can be used. That code turned out to be the REFER A FRIEND code for 1 month of HP Instant Ink; by using a code the friend (in this case – me) gets 1 month of free ink and so does the person providing the code. It would have been nice to know what the code was really for, but nonetheless its nice to have an extra month so thanks to the random stranger… errrr, I mean “friend”.
Also I now have one of my own “refer a friend code” so if anyone wants a free month from which I can also benefit then you know where to find me. I will not be sneaky and push it like others have.
About the ink subscribtion service: Based on the things I have read, if you choose to stop your HP instant ink subscribtion HP will disable the cartridges right away despite them still having ink inside or your subscribtion period still being active until the next payment is due to be taken, so if you want to cancel, at least make sure youve used up the ink. The printer is compatible with standard and the XL ink cartridges afterwards, but you do need to send the old instant ink cartridges back to HP, whether that has anything to do with the printer being enabled again by HP I dont yet know (there was an individual convinced that the only way the printer will work is with the intant ink sub, but that can’t be right). Either way, it is ALWAYS a good idea to read the small print before signing up for anything and everything if you like to avoid unpleasant surprises.
About the printer and prints: After printing a couple of recipes and random things, the printer seems to be okay. Not the best quality prints but not the worst either, printing is rather slow and very noisy, but for the price tag of under 45 its acceptable.
