Well, I’ve only just 04/2023 set this device up today & most contrary to some other people’s comments that I read before purchase have found the setup & activation of it a really easy & simple process. I’ve managed to link 3 devices & all also proved easy to link. The device will, in a month or so, fully replace my home broadband package, so my Wife & I have now gone fully mobile, by using our mobile phones, instead of our old landline & linking to this device for all internet requirements. The device has been purchased as we’re caravanners & now, when we travel, we’ll still have all our ‘modern day’ connectivity for the internet & sites like Netflix & Prime, which will now be with us wherever we are.

I’ll also mention that I’ve used Smarty as the contract provider for all our needs, phone & data only on this device & have found their month by month renewable phone & data packages to be just what we wanted as well. So from me, it’s a 100% recommendation.

Initial problems with the device recognising the SIM card but solved by switching the device on and off many
times. We have travelled through Italy being able to use it easily in our motorhome (RV) for business and pleasure. No aerial has been needed but we have experienced only one poor reception place i.n our travels.
For us it has been ideal and good value for money compared to other recommendations. Note: We had an Italian SIM card

Bit tricky saving different SSID and passwords.
Also the supplied SMARTY mobile sim wasn’t ideal in terms of what it offered for data by default and not much in the way of options – so quickly expired in use and had to be topped up regularly (get yourself a good Data Sim for abroad

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWorks well in a low signal area. Came with no instructions, so I had to work it out for myself, quite basic to work. Press the main button on the front, then press the small button on the top to get the menu and settings. It’s a good idea to contact Huawei and ask for an instruction book/manual. As I sometimes point out, I’m a 78-year-old woman if I can do it the clever young geeks can.

This is definitely small enough to go in a pocket and has good strength of signal with a Smarty similar card.

Connected 6 devices. Didn’t seem to have any issues. Good speed for watching YouTube.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis was bought for using at home for my broadband instead of the usual telephone plus broadband service. It was not the easiest thing to set up, the instructions were not good. But I find that anything that comes from China is the same. But now I have got it working properly it works great. The speed is good, and I can watch catch up TV on the internet without a problem. The only issue is the battery. I bought this as it said it lasted 6 hours. But I was finding that this depends on your usage. If you set your programs to update automatically it runs the battery down, even if you are not using it. Also, it was set up to switch off when it was not being used for any length of time. I had to disable this function as I had to keep switching it on when I did want to use it. This was a pain. I can understand why it was set up this way. But it was no good for my type of usage. I found an updated app and downloaded it. I could set it up better using this. I have got it plugged into the USB point permanently to keep the battery at 100%.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMany of the negative reviews seem to concern signal – which in theory is not strictly the fault of the router and is in fact the network provider chosen by the purchaser. If you live in an area with poor 4G coverage then nothing is gonna work! I live in a largish house and got coverage for multiple devices throughout most of the rooms without much loss of signal.
I bought this router for an extended caravan trip to Europe from the U.K.
Straight out of the box, I fitted a different SIM card than the one provided with the router – I needed something offering unlimited data for roaming. For me, this little mini router has been a winner – we take it everywhere and run several devices through it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersUpdateTook this to France, bought a French Sim Card and got a French Speaker to help do all the things I was meant to and it had a signal but wouldn’t connect to the Internet in the Dordogne in several places. We moved to the south and then it worked. So maybe the signal is not so great but at least it works most of the time.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe device is great and purchased for my caravan. Once its set up it is easy to use. On saying that the set up was a bit of a pain, simply because the password stated was incorrect and took me ages to figure out what was wrong. Spoke to the customer support team but by the time it took for them to get back to had sorted the issue out myself. All in all though good little device.

I own the other version of this with the antenna outputs, There’s a real problem with batteries swelling which is an explosion hazard. And I found it impossible to find a replacement battery so had to buy another hotspot.

Its a shame you don’t have to option to remove the battery when using the unit plugged in so as not to overheat the battery. These tend to run very hotly so I use a cooling fan to help cool the battery.

Be warned, a swelling battery can go into a thermal runaway, causing them to explode

It works and does the job with good connection and speeds at 4G.

Very poor instructions from a setup perspective needed a lot of cooling to work out how to login into to the devices admin page and change wi-fi password. If you have some tech skills then this won’t be a problem but otherwise might be tricky to customise setup.

First take the back cover off, there is a slot at one corner to lever it off. Then move the metal cover to unlock position and lift it up. I used a micro 10gb data SIM from EE, place it so contacts are downwards and bottom right is the cutoff corner of SIM. bring metal cover down and click it to locked position. insert battery. press button for about 2 secs and screen will say welcome and then eventually will show the EE screen. if you’ve put sim in wrong, it will say insert simm and try again.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReturned because it is not dual band as stated in the product listing. It is single band 2.4Ghz. Found out only after I got it and couldn’t change to 5Ghz. Couldn’t increase the wifi speed no matter how much I toyed with the settings (was on 4G Three network through Smarty), limited channels available (6-11), would only ever get an average 7-8Mbps down but a whopping 20Mbps up. Not adequate speeds for home use – I suggest you shell out a extra 50 and get yourself a proper Cat 7 Huawei dual band router which is what I did and now my Internet speeds are up to 30Mbps download. Despite all that, it worked well for what it is made for (ie. cheap internet on the go shared between multiple devices) and actual device was good to use with respect to ease in setting up, easy to change settings Huawei AI life app, digital screen tells you how many devices connected and how much data has passed through and can display QR code for easy connection to the wifi device. For that I’ll leave review at 4 stars even though it didn’t suit my needs.

Firstly, this is the first review I have felt compelled to write.

I have just returned a similar priced TP-Link device. I have a Sky sim which uses O2. I spent approx. 1 hr speaking to Sky and then a further 4 hours talking to TP-Link, trying to get it working. I managed to link it to my mobile, which kept dropping the connection and could not get the laptop to connect at all.

My job is to design and build databases, so have a much higher than average tech knowledge and am usually the one that is called upon to help others. But that device just beat me.

After returning it and ordering this one, I researched all the possible issues and was armed with Sky APN details and various troubleshooting forums, ready for an evening online chats and hours of hitting my head on a brick wall.

However, to my overwhelming delight, and relief, I opened the box, inserted the sim and battery and was immediately able to connect 2 phones and the laptop. Woohoo. Amazing compared with my terrible, terrible experience with TP-Link.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOnly has this a few days (May 2021) so these are my initial thoughts.

I brought this to use instead of paying for hotel wifi. Not taken away yet so will update when I do.

I received the E5577-320 model and although some comments suggest this has the 4g antenna aerial ports, mine does not. However on a quick test I managed to get 20mb down and 5 up. I will need to test more when out the house

The unit is very small and lightweight. Smaller than a standard smart phone, so can be taken on days out.

I have just registered a new sim with Smarty and used a promotion from Quidco to get 16 pcm for unlimited data for 12 months in uk and EU. I will probably use this for the summer then downgrade to 6 which can be done at any time

Connected unit with the HUAWEI al life app so can monitor signal strength and bandwidth usage

I will add more details as I use the unit more

I decided to write a review on this product as I often rely myself on reviews before purchasing items. I purchased this item so that I could work from home at our holiday home which doesn’t have internet connection. It arrived today, I immediately tried setting it up at home, it was very simple and connected straight away, to both my mobile and work laptop. Device is very small and a neat design. I was originally going to order the E5576, but the viewing screen and reviews persuaded me to go for the more expensive model. I am yet to try it at our holiday home but I don’t anticipate any problems having checked first that the network I chose had good connection.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our Usersyou often read how “all you have to do is….” and you know you’ll spend months on chat rooms trying to make your newest gadget work

but this, really did straight out fo the box

in went the sim and the already 50% chargefd battery and we were good to go. the charing cable made us laugh…it is very short. so we ditched that and used a 5m cable i had lying about, which works great. doesn’t come with a plug either, but we had a spare USB mains plug socket we could use

it is the most stable 4g connection we’ve ever had (and we were using a proper sized 4G router with a huge antennae before)

it looks really tiny, but this, really, is what we wanted.

i chose this one becauase you can plug in external antennaes. i already have some with SMA connections, so have just bougth some adapters fr the sma antennae i already have

in fairness to this little munchkin of the the 4G router world, it is already getting 3 out of 5 reception bars at our home, with pretty poor reception for us

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor a few years I have been using an old unlocked cat 4 EE 4G hotspot with an O2 data plan. This was ok until the covid 19 lockdown began. Then I began getting very poor signal strength, dropped links etc. Lots of people working from home I guess. Anyway, moving about the house for a better signal had little effect. So after much research I bought this. What a difference! My download speed has increased approx 5 fold, with uploads 3 – 4 times faster. This being on the 2.4ghz 4g band. Unfortunately 5g is not available in my area so couldn’t test that, but the mifi being dual band does allow me to choose 5ghz where available if 4g is getting a bit clogged. That should mean faster speeds again.

Apart from that, cant fault the seller as the speed of postage from UK mainland to N. Ireland was extremely quick and reasonably priced.

Would highly recomend this mifi device.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUsing it with a Three contract sim.
Very small in size but has a more powerful signal than any other mobile router I used before.
The problem I have is with the internet speed which, at least in part, is related to my service provider, Three Mobile Broadband, which I have been using for more than ten years. Reliable but not fast enough.
The six hours use after charging this router may not be accurate. Mine seems to go shorter but too soon to be sure.
Seems like a small powerful device from a brand that I trust and use with confidence.

Replaced my old Huawei mobile device finally gave up the ghost after 5 years. This new one is lightweight in comparison. My mobile phone provider has stopped selling the Huawei device and are only selling/upgrading their own brand, the look of device is awful with no feature showing how much data you are using. So I’m so glad I was able to replace my device with a Huawei again. The only feature I miss is having a reset of how much data I’ve used. It now shows continuous data usage. You have to add your data allowance in the Huawei program manager settings. ( i.e. your data allowance you have monthly, via an app or web browser). But to be fair it is extremely accurate when I’ve checked with my data provider.
Great purchase, easy as pie set-up, fast delivery.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersAfter having to endure many years of poor wi-fi when on holiday abroad. I decided to take the plunge this year and do something about it. I spent many hours reading the reviews about mobile wi if products other customers brought on amazon and this one fitted the criteria; it had to be easy to use as I am not a techie and reliable. I could not have made a better choice. I have spent two weeks abroad. All I had to do was buy a sim to cover me for the amount of data that I would require. There were some good deals so I opted for a one month only 40 gb good bag from Giffgaff. I inserted the sim and followed the set up instructions and had wi fi whenever I wanted it. This product also allows other devices to be connected and my friends also benefited. The beauty of this product is that it shows you how many devices are connected and how much data you have used as part of its display and the wi-do is reliable even when several devices were connected. One tip I would advise is that you set up before you go abroad.

Seems to be more powerful in receiving even 3G and transmitting WiFi for a device, but whether it also uses credit faster than my previous 3G Dongle, I am not sure, but felt it might be. I prefer the 3G Dongle for its green bright lights for giving information on its ‘working status’ , battery, signal reception , etc and on the G Dongle this can be seen easily from distance across a room, whereas this 4G dongle only shows the information in hard to see light grey highlight letters and symbols in a 2cm square plastic window which you have to hold to see and read. The 4G dongle does give additional info, not shown on the 3G one , about how much data you have used of your Pay-As-You-Go ‘SIM’. However, if I am only getting a 3G signal, I prefer to use my older 3G Dongle. Will use the 4G where there is a $G signal, only and if I need the device to work faster..

It works but a word of warning to any-one unfamiliar with these devices. If you use a network that ‘piggy backs’ onto one of the prime carriers then It may not be just a case of putting a SIM card in and away it goes. I use a giffgaff SIM (which piggy backs onto O2), to get it to work it’s necessary to:
    1. Log into the E5577C with a web browser pointing at 192.168.8.1.
    2. Navigate to Settings/Dial Up/ Profile Management
    3. Select New Profile
    4 Insert:
    Profile Name: giffgaff
    User: giffgaff
    Password: Leave blank
    APN: giffgaff.com

I suspect that other mobile telecoms companies that use a virtual network (all except EE, 3, O2 and Vodaphone) may require something silmilar before it will connect. It’s not hard to do, it’s just a case of being aware that it might be required.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThere is no fast broadband in the village where I live. The neighbours get less than 1mbps through their landline, as did I until I brought this with a booster:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BBKKULW/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_36
So with the MIFI plugged into the booster I get 3 bars of 4g, which equates to 19 mbps in the living room on the floor below!!!
You see, on Saturday evenings everybody is on the internet, so even if we were getting 2 mbps we couldn’t do much because everybody was using the line!! With this device the signal goes like a rocket (I can get up to 44mbps in a better area), few people are using it for broadband, so it doesn’t get clogged up like landlines.
I got a sim from 3 with unlimited data and can now enjoy streaming hd movies instantly without a circle on the screen every few minutes. Because I have unlimited data I can also stream movies that eat up 6gb per hour. Fantastic. In my first month we gobbled up 200gb of data without any issues from 3.
Thank you Huawei and thank you three.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMy first surprise having set up a secure password via the app, was the SSID and password are displayed in plain text on the front screen, so if I lose this anyone can use it – and my data! It loses a star for that.

It is easy to set up and use, I bought it in conjunction with a pay as you go sim pack from 3 and it was easy to set up. I had a 4G signal everywhere I used it, so I have been happy with that. The only issue I found with it was battery life is much less than the 6 hours advertised. I was lucky to get 4 hours out of it daily using just a laptop on a 4g signal.

    The Good points :-

    1) It is a rather well designed product. The menu system and the button placements are perfect for anyone wishing to have a portable access-point during holidays.
    2) The Screen is perfect for the information that it seeks to display
    3) I used it for around 7.5 hours (9-4:30) after a complete charge with 2 laptops and a mobile phone and it did the job perfectly without any hiccups.
    4) Connecting to the AP and configuring the SSID, changing the password is easily done.

    The Bad points :-
    1) The device advertises the SSID password on the main screen, so if you leave this on your table and walk away anyone can press the button and get your password.
    2) The Web UI can be more intuitive, but I am just getting picky here.

I got this along with Three’s Pay as you Go Trio Data SIM for an organisation I work with and very very happy with the finish of the product. It is not tethered to any service, so you can use it with any provider which is another big plus. It is small and handy – easy to carry. All in all, Huawei have done a fantastic job with this little gem. Good work guys.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAlthough you need a bit of knowledge to setup, it’s pretty easy for anyone who could set up a normal router. Great 4G signal (I didn’t need any extra antenna). Massive wifi range. I’ve had 10 devices connected without problems. Much better than the carrier’s options which are locked to their network. The app is easy enough and lets you check the data at any time and block devices that are sucking up your connection. The battery lasted hours even in a party scenario with everyone playing via the Wifi, and it’s tiny and easy to take on the move. I turned off the auto-wifi-power-saving so it’s always on (you can manage some options via the device itself, some only via the app, and some only via the internal web interface – maybe that’s why people can’t find the right options).

I used it via giffgaff temporarily, and then Three for the greater data allowance, and it’s been flawless. I don’t have to worry where the box is, and guests have picked up the wifi both upstairs and quite a way outside without having to move anything. The only concern – it does show the wireless network name and password in plaintext on the front screen, in case that’s an issue.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersI purchased this after reading reviews. Purpose – to get an internet connection in my caravan. I had previously checked the strength of the 4G signal in the area where I keep the caravan with my smart phone. I found that it was not always a strong signal and faded in and out somewhat. Again, from reviews I felt that I needed to purchase a booster antenna to go with the device. Have not yet had to use the antenna! The device fires up quickly after insertion of the SIM and automatically check the internet connection strength. If it finds a problem with the 4G signal, it defaults to 3G, which it has so far always locked on to very solidly. Maybe 4G would be better, but I have found no problem with the 3G connection. It gives a fast response to the internet, even allows me to log on to work via VPN. No problems – does what I want it to. If I could award a 4.5 star rating I would. Typically for techy items, the enclosed manual is basic and leaves the user a lot to discover for yourself. Example: no detail on how to connect an external antenna. No obvious connection ports on the device. It was only after very close examination – and taking a chance – I discovered a removable plastic cover on the opposite side to the “Menu” button. Once I had removed the cover, the connection was obvious, but first impression was that I could not use the antenna!
All in all, a great little device which I would thoroughly recommend if you want an internet connection in a camper van or caravan.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis is a review of the device and not the data plan. This is a small and neat black mobile WiFi unit that will enable you you connect to the web from just about anywhere your network providers coverage allows (mobile WiFi is great for e-mail and general web surfing but beware streaming etc will eat up your data very quickly, although this will depend on your plan).

This device takes a full size standard Simm (it is unlocked and will therefore take a simm provider of your choice), simply slot it in charge the battery and turn it on. Search on your iPad (or other device) for the WiFi’s name, select it and enter the password and you are connected to the web in seconds. I believe you can connect up to 10 devices simultaneously.

The battery charges relatively quickly via a USB lead and lasts me about 6-8 hours out and about but that would obviously vary on your personal usage and trends. When not connected the WiFi enters a battery conserving sleep mode, connect and it wakes up.

Really simple to set up and use, recommended.

Edit – There is no need to connect this device to a computer unless you wish to do so for charging etc, it performs really well and I have found that I can access the internet from even fairly remote locations, it even picked up a good signal on the Devon coast last week but that would obviously depend somewhat on your providers coverage.
