Bought to replace an ageing huawei tablet. Thought I’d miss google aps but realised I can get by without the majority. The only one I really miss is google maps. Chrome is easily replaced by Yandex browser and selecting google as your search engine, and it performs just like chrome.
Battery life is decent, screen is a vast improvement on my old tablet. Speakers are loud & clear..oh and its pretty quick too.
Replaced an old Samsung that costs twice as much 5 years ago. Instead of paying 50% premium for another Samsung that I know will be slowing to a crawl after 2 years, I decided to give this a go. First of all, even for the value line, the build quality is to notch. Everything loads with a blink. Disney plus and Amazon is perfect in HD but Netflix only works in normal resolution. Huawei app gallery is actually a blessing compared to the Data harvesting of Google. Very happy with the purchase!
When I was looking for a new tablet I took a punt on this one. One of my main concerns was the lack of Google services such as Google Play Store but after a month of using this I can say that you get used to life without Google Play. There are a good choice of apps on Hauwei app store and you can also get the Amazon app store and if you still can’t find all your app needs, you can use the web browser!
I was replacing my iPad Pro so wanted something high spec and lower cost. I know the two don’t really come hand in hand. But I was surprised when I seen this tab and wondered why the price was so low. In the end I’ve decided it must be the Google Play effect.
Unboxing the tablet you really feel like you have a premium device. The build is excellent, I made sure to get a cover as quick as I could. Sleek and stylish sums it up.
Performance wise, I mainly use tablets for a little web browsing but mainly watching live TV. I’ve had no issues with either and the battery life seems fine to me.
So if you use a tablet for similar activities then this will tick the boxes but it also looks and feels fantastic.
The hardware of the Matepad 10.4 Refresh is brilliant considering the price, It comes with a previous-gen flagship Hi-Silicon processor that should see even demanding tasks like 3D gaming without breaking a sweat. The screen is bright and vivid, and touch control precise and responsive. The build quality is very high as well.
EMUI 12 or Harmony OS 2.0 are snappy, responsive environments where you can multitask easily. They also have some neat UI shortcuts that Android lack. If you have other Huawei devices like monitors, laptops and phones it’s very convenient to use the Huawei SuperDevice to collaborate between them.
However, for heavily invested Android/ Google ecosystem users, the lack of GMS has its moments of inconvenience. There are ways to get around these limitations but the overall experience isn’t as smooth as it can be on a GMS native device.
