Very high quality image. Only downside I’ve found is that the usb ports don’t seem to be well machined. They barely fit, and one of them doesn’t appear to have power.
Screen is very subtly curved and works well. Bought it due to wanting slightly less than 27″, so the curvature works in my favour by reducing the physical width.
Has a pretty great menu that’s intuitive, accessed by a single analogue stick. Lets you swap DP mode between versions (very important, as my gpu wouldn’t detect latest version without the drivers)
Only downsides are the stand extends out a tiny bit further than I’d like, so make suee you have adequate desk depth. It’s also powered by usb-c, which isn’t a bad thing but keep this in mind as the standard kettle leads laying around have no use now.
Use for gaming and productivity, the high refresh rate is excellent and in comparison to 60hz very clear to see. Colours are decent, I’m not an artist so can’t determine accuracy. Very nice to code with.
I wanted something with good colour control. This was available at a good price.
I am a keen photographer so colour reproduction needs to be faithful. The fact is if 4×3 format is a bonus because that is the format I happen to shoot in.
Thinking of another one to replace a Dell high end monitor.
This monitor for the price I paid is fantastic, supports up to 165hz, DisplayPort & GSync, yes this monitor can support HDR content but you will need to run the monitor at 144hz to enable 10bit colour as the 165hz mode only supports 8bit colour meaning it cant actually support true HDR at its full refresh rate but for most people 144hz is plenty, personally I have been loving the monitor so far and do not regret it like I did with my last monitor.
Has a nice curved screen style, image quality is amazing, response time is what they describe even better.
The incorporated sound bar make the gaming or movie experience to be unique.
Huawei is doesn’t stop to impress public every time with there products…
It’s rely wwwooooooowwww.
I don’t often write reviews but I am so impressed with this monitor. I spend most of my time producing music, and needed to find a monitor. The 3:2 aspect ratio was something I was unsure of since it is unusual, but I have to say it is absolutely perfect for what I do, and I expect it would be great for most creative work. The extra height in the screen is so useful. I do spend a lot of time on my iPad so perhaps that is why the aspect ratio feels so familiar.
I had already seen this monitor while on holidays abroad, and had taken the model number. It blew my mind, I had seen the smaller 27 inch version, but boy is it immense. The field of view is amazing, love the soundbar lighting effects and the resolution and refresh rate are on par with major brands costing near double.
Overall, highly recommend and will buy again to replace my partner’s old monitor too soo
Very impressive, large curved wide screen with a fast 165hz refresh rate, 1440p and HDR 10. For the price this is unbeatable.
Not the best screen but is bright and blacks are OK. Not a lot of features to be honest and no GSync but at this price that isn’t a big deal. I run with a 3080 12gb and many games run at 165hz on Ultra and look incredible.
This is an absolutely fantastic value monitor which is priced for entry level but looks like a pro piece of kit. With big brands at nearly three times the price for the same features. Superb for FPS and sims.
This should be a default option for anyone who wants to save a few quid on a monitor but wants something that looks the part.
It’s bigger than the iMac 5K monitor. it’s about a third of the price. It’s not quite the same quality, but it is very, very close. Anything better than this monitor costs you at least four digits, and it is superior to the average 4k monitor. Not rated for gaming, I use it to make money.
Bought this for work so I could have multiple spreadsheets up at the same time and I have not been disappointed. Also use it for various cycling apps, Zwift, Fulgaz, Rouvy etc and it’s so much better than a flat screen – so realistic I nearly fell off my static trainer!!!
Happy with the monitor for the price – I primarily use it for work, but some casual gaming occasionally too. Works with AMD Freesync if you have an AMD graphics card, sync’ing the refresh rate between the monitor and the card without you having to mess with any settings (setup guides are available on Youtube etc if you have a quick search)
Does everything I need it to for work, good colour range, don’t notice any lag either.
Sound bar is perfectly fine for my own home office, not a big room so doesn’t need to be anything special. Might not be ideal for any larger spaces though – if that’s something you’re worried about.
This monitor is very good, i actually downgraded as i had the samsung crg9 but 1 it was far too big and hurt my eyes and two the hdr was majorly flawed and i wanted something faster than 120 herz so i went for this monitor used, saving 50 off retail although i was rather worried it would be damaged on arrival it was as if new from amazon warehouse. Now the monitor itself is well built screen looks great hdr looks great even though there is bad reviews on this panels hdr i gather they could have been faulty units. The sound bar is ok as far as monitor sound bars can go, wouldn’t replace a premium set of speakers or 7.1 surround headset but still sound great for what you pay. I worried going from 4k to 3k that i would see the difference but to be honest i can’t tell also going from a massive 49 inch to 34 inch might seem mad but it’s much better on the eyes and doesn’t take up much real estate on my gaming desk. For full 500 rrp you really can’t go wrong with this monitor and i highly encourage you to look at amazon warehouse you save some money and there is nothing wrong with that. Please always read descriptions though. Mines stated i would have damaged packaging and missing manual, granted the box had a couple of light scratches and dents but nothing major and i did in fact get the manual with the monitor, 3k 165 herz curved monitor is great and would look at this, the curve is also not aggresive and will look nice with nearly every set up. If you have any questions about this monitor please don’t hesitate to ask and i can help where i can.
his is a great monitor but it needs to be more clear what monitor has what. This model doesn’t have any speakers in it. I’ve needed to buy an audio extractor so I can get the sound to my speakers.
I love the screen in this. I split the screen in two and that has enough space for the apps so its great for multi tasking.
The screen looks great and I’ve had no issues. My Huawei laptop and ps4 is connected to it and there aren’t many issues with it. the only main problem I’ve had is the audio side of it.
Just be aware that if you plan on watching shows on here there are black bars. I’ve had a firestick and I couldn’t find a way to get the black bars to go away.
When playing games on it, its amazing. I cant run anything too stressful but I think it is amazing.
Bought for my sine during Black Friday for Xmas primarily for gaming and he loves it. I have been allowed to look at it when setting it up and have to say impressed and would be happy to have this in my own office setup (would wait for a sale though )
I was intending to use this for gaming but it’s become my work station monitor and replace my two flat screens. Drawback is that screen shares the whole screen, not figured out how or if it can share half a screen (one monitors equivalent). Love the curved setup but would like more of a tilt/ease in tilt. When I try to adjust it I end up just pushing the whole screen and displacing the cables.
Replaced two flat screens with this one: even thought technically I had more real estate beforehand, this has made a real difference due to the uninterrupted view in the middle of my vision. First one arrived damaged, bought again and sent it back with no problem from Amazon. I use it mainly for music composition, much better for organising windows etc.
Meets expectations. I wish the usb C output was more powerful (currently 10w which does not charge a laptop), but overall this is a great product.
Minor issue on the sound bar, which is not perfectly aligned with the monitor (I am talking about 1 or 2 degrees).
I went through 3 displays before settling on the 28″ MateView. The others were an ultra wide Samsung C33J, a Dell ultrafine U series and a Samsung G7 Odyssey.
None of them match the image clarity and quality of this MateView. Not only does it look that part, it really does feel at home alongside Apple products, but it performs brilliantly. It’s only 400 and is worth every penny. If you’re looking for a stand-in Apple Studio Display, then try this, you won’t regret it.
Great monitor
– Good picture
– Sound bar isn’t bad, fine for just listening to music not high quality sounds but good for every day use
– High quality design and finish
Would highly recommend for gaming and every day use. For high end use like video editing I would go for something with higher specs.
I had been gaming on an old 42″ TV for many years and wanted to upgrade so I can get the benefits of better quality image that consoles offer these days. Running a ps5 on this currently and cannot fault it. Took a little getting use to the image being slightly stretched and the curve kind of throws you a little at first, but when you adjust, it’s amazing. This was the basic model with no speakers but i game with a headset 99.9% of the time anyway so i would have had no benefit from it.
I had a very old rubbish monitor before some 18.5″ 60hz Acer monitor that was 1366×768 or something before.
This is such an upgrade.
Having the ability to put two documents side by side without zooming out is amaziing. I know that would be the same for any UWHD 34″ monitor, I am glad I went with this idea compared to getting a 27″ and having my old monitor in portrait next too.
Some programs / games struggle to fill the whole screen bit generally I have no had an issue. Sometimes a little adjustment in the settings and it’s works.
Productivity I am happy with the colours for photo adjustments, even though there are better monitors with better contrast, colour gammits etc.
I can’t really compare how good it is to other recent monitors but am very happy with it.
Was simple to mount on the monitor arm, no issues in general set up, actually a little smaller and thinner than I had thought.
If you want one of the best cheapest 34″ monitors on the market it is a great buy and would recommend.
I couldnt find much info about this Monitors performance in Fight Simulator so thought I’d share. I bought this monitor to replace my 10 year old Samsung FHD 27″ monitor. I’d recently upgraded my PC GPU to a NVIDIA 3070ti so needed this to make the most of the card and achieve decent fps in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 at QHD without going to 4k. I was concerned about getting a Huawei monitor but read good reviews and took the chance. Pleased I did as this is perfect for my setup and I got really nice results. Great picture and very smooth to my eyes. I’ve attached some simulator footage at full QHD, 165hz refresh with everything set to Ultra. Really nice and a good price. An excellent upgrade for me.
I use this for working from home (Spreadsheets, Document review etc) and for Cubase audio editing. It’s great to have the resolution for super-sharp text and images, even if scaled, but mainly to have the extra vertical real estate of a 2:3 ratio that you miss when using a 9:16 monitor. Highly recommended, especially at the sub 400 price.
I’ve had around 12 monitors in the last 12 years. Some were multi monitor setups but all monitors were of good quality. My last monitor was a 27 inch 1440p 165hz and I absolutely loved it.
I’ve always fancied an ultra wide but could never justify the price until I seen this. This was 50 less than what I bought my IPS 1440p for, so I had to.
I was a little scared of moving to VA from IPS but I was extremely surprised. Colours are as good, if not better than my IPS. Blacks are much better of course. No dead pixels and absolutely no backlight bleed.
I put the overdrive mode on to 3 straight away as recommended to help the ghosting and I did not notice any whilst playing battlefield 5 for a few hours last night. Some people may be more susceptible to it but it’s definitely not bad.
To get 10ish colour you need to have it set to 144hz and not 165hz. This didn’t bother at all as I can’t tell the difference.
If you haven’t tried an ultra wide and you want one, I recommend this 100%.
Build quality is really good. It’s plastic but it’s build very solid.
I am a software engineer and I use it for coding which the wide screen really helps me with my multiwindow setup I need. the sound bar is comparable to a cheap dead bluetooth speaker.
Decent picture quality – colours really are great but HDR brightness is awful, not worth using to be honest so if HDR gaming is a seller for you then this unfortunately isn’t the monitor for you. 2K is genuinely what it says on the tin, great resolution combined with SDR colours and brightness.
Plugs are unnecessarily wide mind you, means you can’t put two side-by-side and limits space for other plugs. Rather than having the useless extendable earth pin they could have made the plug a regular shape/size.
I use this mainly as an external monitor for my work laptop when I work from home. It is simple to use, works well with great picture quality. The only issue is that it attracts dust which is hard to remove – there’s a ‘static’ issue with the surrounding plastic bezel that makes it worse.
So pleased that I took the plunge and went for this when considering a monitor for my Macbook Pro. Extremely premium, high quality, sleek and attractive. It takes up half the desk space (depth) of my old monitor and so far so good in terms of performance.
Colours seemingly pretty accurate out of the box – though I do always calibrate my monitors for design work using a SpyderX anyhow. Post calibration the colour change was ‘noticeable’ – but not huge.
Screen ratio – really love the additional space and to me it doesn’t feel ‘odd’ at all. It hasn’t taken any ‘getting used to’ as some people say.
Speakers are not ‘fantastic’ but you always have the option of selecting your mac / external speakers as an alternative if you really need the highest quality sound. Not an issue for my primary use though (design work).
When looking for an ultrawide monitor, I came across this very early on and was concerned it would not be big enough, my work set up was 2x 24 inch monitors so thinking about downgrading to one monitor at 34 inches I was concerned there be no room for the work I do which predominantly is using email, websites and spreadsheets and some occasional Xbox gaming. After two months of back and forth I finally settled on a 40 inch LG option, when I received it It was very obvious it was way too big for day-to-day work and also gaming. So I sent it back and ordered this instead.
I wish I had save myself the two months pondering and the unboxing re-boxing and returning process! This is perfect you can have pretty much three full-size windows open at once and for anybody who does a lot of spreadsheet work this is ideal. Brightness is not an issue in either a dark or bright room. I don’t think I have mine above 75% brightness. The sound bar is a nice option as well. Have used it for various meetings online and sound and microphone are above what would be expected at this price. Plenty of port options as well.
Have watched a couple of movies on this as well, and it’s great not having the black bars on the top and bottom being an ultra wide but in terms of the sound bar, although great for meetings and general day today you would want plug in some external speakers to really benefit.
So in summary there is not much this monitor is not good for don’t be fooled by the price, image quality, sound, usability are all excellent.
Bought this and coupled it with the M1 chip Mac mini. Colours are very good and size is perfect for my photography. Would have liked it to have a camera and Mike built i
I was looking for a 3:2 4K monitor with 400 + nits of brightness as I work in a very well naturally illuminated room. This was one of the few I could find at a reasonable price (bought it from Amazon warehouse for ~350).
I’ve spent quite a longtime reading reviews about it and you most of the tech reviews I read are correct. In the vast majority, what they callout is the fact that whilst the vast majority of monitors have a brightness drop of circa 10% at the edges, this one is closer to 20%. You do need to be quite used to spot small differences in monitors to actually “see” this and it does not impact your day to day work if you are not an expert gamer or content creator. If you are buying a monitor for regular office / school work, this one is simply great; the brightness; the 3:2 format will make a huge difference.
In my case, no more moving around to go around the reflex or the infinite scrolling down to read the emails.
Strongly advise it. (time will tell what is its reliability, but it seems sturdy)
This is a nice monitor, its 165hz only has 1 DP port 1 hdmi and 0 usb. Its NOT an IPS panel as i did look in the reviews and 1 person said it was the other said it wasnt so i wasnt sure as it dosent state what model they were talking about. Over all its a nice upgrade if your not looking for a specific panel type.
This monitor is pretty good.
The picture quality is solid and the build is solid.
My main criticism is that it doesn’t have an adjustable stand and by default sits pretty high up.
Being able to tilt it forwards takes some of the pain out of that but it’s still not ideal it you prefer your monitors a bit lower to the desk.
There aren’t any useful presets so if you want to save your own, I’d suggest going a googlin’ for some good set ups that other people online have discovered.
Zero issues with it so far other than that.
I’m not sure I’d buy it at full price but when it’s on sale, it’s a good buy.
Great quality, great price. Has a slight ghosting issue but the included overdrive on setting 3 helps reduce this significantly. Overdrive setting 4 causes inverse ghosting which is subjectively worse than having it turned off. I have quite sensitive eyes and this monitor has been the best experience for me out of all previous monitors I have owned, past ones have always hurt my eyes after extended periods of use, so I would recommend this monitor for people with similar experiences. The monitor also includes a free sync option hidden within the user interface which can be accessed by pushing the controller dongle backwards for 10 seconds. The HDR mode is more than decent enough for HDR movies, however in games it’s not as good and can look slightly washed out unless properly calibrated. For some games however the HDR brightness is too low and therefore cannot be configured correctly; you can end up with it looking even more washed out. To summarise, this monitor is an absolute bargain for people who want an ultrawide monitor, but don’t want to pay an ultra high price
It is definitely not a monitor for gaming on, it only has 60hz refresh rate, on the upside it is slightly more pixels than a 4k monitor . picture quality is very good. I have used this display for a few months now and I can safely say I am happy with my purchase , just wish the refresh rate was at least 120hz.
Using this monitor day-in-day-out is an absolute delight. Large, bright and great colour accuracy, with a wonderful 3:2 aspect ratio that is odd at first but quickly becomes hard to resist. While not the most optimal gaming resolution for anything too intense, putting your game in 2160×1440 fullscreen still offers good picture quality at a more traditional resolution, if you can deal with the black bars like I can. The NFC wireless stream feature on the stand only works with Huawei devices, which I personally dont own as an Apple user, so I class it as a bit of a gimmick, however it does make for a good spot to put a wireless charger. Only thing that would improve this monitor is another USB-C port (easily solvable by an external hub however) and a higher refresh rate, which I would gladly pay extra for.
This monitor is one of those things you need to see in person to give it justice. The colours are gorgeous and the contrast is great. The curve is just the right amount and really does immerse you when you’re sat Infront of it. Now, for gaming; it’s a mixed bag. Due to it being a VA panel, yes there is black smearing which can be kinda annoying in competitive games but for me, it feels like it doesn’t affect my performance and just seems more visual. However, on single player games and movies etc, this monitor is amazing and a must if you want to immerse.
Overall, if you’re looking for a beautiful monitor that is ultrawide and wanting a mind blowing image, get this monitor. If you looking for a monitor that is only to be used with competitive games, look elsewhere
I bought this monitor because I am replacing my imac with a new mac studio and needed a separate monitor to go with it. It was the combination of the design, build quality and price that made it an easy decision for me. The monitor is ultra thin, all aluminium frame and stand with ultra slim bezels. At the current price of 399 it was a no brainer. It’s a 4K+ resolution, which for most people is more than enough. The 3×2 aspect ratio works well for me. The screen itself has a semi matt finish which reduces glare (Apple call this nano textured glass and charge you extra for it). The colour is sharp and bright.
I was looking for a monitor that would compliment my MacStudio without having to pay 1500 for it and that’s exactly what this monitor does. I would recommend it.
This fantastic monitor works straight out of the box with my Macbook Pro 14″.
The letdown was in the delivery. The monitor was left at the end of my driveway on waste bins. Had my beloved not have driven past who knows what would have happened?
This is not the first time that the Amazon deliverers have simply abandoned high-value goods in the open air at the end of the drive. Unlike the rest of the UK, this part of the Highlands was amazing dry today.
This monitor came just at the right time, having owned a 34in wide screen before I knew what I wanted from a monitor, and this Huawei delivers it in spades. With no 4k monitors with decent refresh rate at reasonable prices, or an affordable 49inch wide screen monitor but I can’t justify the price, so 1440 is for me for the time being and for the next 5 years. The 165 refresh rate is a great improvement from my old flat 60hz, plus this is curved which pulls the edge’s in so your eyes remain focused across the screen. This also has a VA panel where my old one was an IPS, so the brightness is a lot better with a VA, but the viewing angles are not as good, however this is a monitor is for me to use for work and a bit of gaming. The added sound bar has not been install so I can’t comment on the additional features this brings as i desk mount my monitor. Overall, this monitor was a great price which was on special and came with a 6 month xbox game pass (which has arrived yet) all in a great package. Well worth it in my view as I sold my old 6 year monitor on ebay for half what this cost and after 5 years I should be able to sell this and upgrade again making ownership of wide screen monitor like this pretty reasonable.
Extra note: I purchased this when the offer was on at 379, to me this was great value. If the price was higher then I would have to consider other options also. This offer also came with the 6 month game pass, after applying for the pass it has taken 6 weeks for the pass to arrive, but it did arrive. Just be patience.
I have to say, I have been very impressed with this monitor. Great visual quality, very crisp and clear images, and great colour reproduction. I’ve upgraded to this from 2 old 1080p monitors (each around 8 years+) and this is a huge improvement! The viewing angles are excellent, no issues with washed out colours or anything like that if you’re viewing it from a. It if an angle. The one issue is there is a little bit of ghosting. The monitor has a pixel response time of 4ms. For me, I don’t even notice it unless I’m really looking for it, and honestly it’s much better than the ghosting I experienced on the monitors this replaced. However, those that are coming from newer monitors, or already have 4k displays with a 1ms response time will probably notice the difference. For the majority of gamers, or those looking to use this more for video editing or production, I doubt this will be an issue, but competitive players may find this to be an issue. Overall, great monitor.
The Huawei mateview is a fantastic piece of hardware with excellent build quality and clean, minimal appearance. When it’s all put together, it’s simply magnificent. It uses the same design language as Apple’s Pro Display XDR.
The picture quality is good, with excellent overall colour accuracy and peak (NITT) brightness. It has built-in speakers that don’t sound too awful, but I don’t use them because I have my own speakers attached. Other aspects Although NFC and wireless capabilities are included, they only operate with Huawei items.
The port options are fine, however I would want another USB-C port.
Overall, if you want to use this as a productivity monitor, this is an excellent choice. If you want to use it for gaming, I would not suggest it due to its aspect ratio of 3:2 and refresh rate of just 60hz. I would absolutely recommend it for everything else.
If you’re looking for a gaming monitor?
You’d better have a PC for it, XBOX isn’t fully compatible with this technology as of right now, however, Playstation IS…
now… I’m not giving it a negative review only for this, I bought this VA panel expecting a lot better, however, having people in questions stating that it’s compatible with XBOX really infuriates me
For PC, it will work, I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m sure it does because PC is almost compatible with any monitor, I will be using my other monitor @1080p for my XBOX, which is not what I wanted to do, but who knows, maybe I’ll give the XBOX and monitor to my brother.
I think if you’re looking for a PC or PLAYSTATION monitor, this is a great option for you… if you’re looing to get an XBOX monitor, you’re better off sticking to 16:9 aspect ratio, as until they update their technology, this is the only type that will work as intended.
Thanks for reading, happy shopping!
For the average person who just wants a pc monitor for games that allows for great immersion, it’s great, fantastic even for the money. The screen does a respectable job with contrast and colour, and looks nice and modern. IT DOES GO UP AND DOWN ALSO. I see lots of people complaining that they can’t adjust the height of the screen, but with a small push the support bar on the back of the screen extends and has approx 6-8″ of movement.
If you intend to use this screen for multiple things though, like connecting other devices simultaneously to it, then there may be better choices. I use mine as a PC monitor, PS5 and Switch screen. There is no speaker on the standard GT, which I’m fine with, but I expected there to at least be a headphone jack on the monitor somewhere. This means that you’ll need another set of speakers for each console/device you wish to hook up to your display.
There is also no Picture in Picture feature, which is disappointing, again for people like me who connect multiple devices to the same screen. With that much real estate it seems like a poor oversight.
Overall, it’s absolutely up in the top part of its bracket when looking at budget monitors. For the price the screen is great, and you won’t be disappointed in it provided you intend to use it solely as a PC monitor.
I use this with a MacBook Pro 2019 and Desktop PC.
Using with the MacBook Pro for work, it connects over USB-C. The USB-C input on this monitor can charge at 10W which is useless so I also need to use the MacBook power supply. Not had any issues what so ever with this monitor for work.
Using it with my PC over DP is equally as great. I mainly use my PC for Flight Sim and having the extra FOV is brilliant.
Switching inputs to the PC is super easy with the joystick just under the Huawei logo, no more wondering what each of the buttons do when brands stick 4 poorly labeled buttons under the screen off to one side. The joystick being in the middle also reduces any wobble as I have this attached to a gas monitor arm.
The arm I use is https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08B8X4KBV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which holds the monitor great. The monitor without the stand is ~7KG so well within the limits.
Overall, very happy with this monito
