Bought these for my logitec keyboard that I upgraded the switches on, all keys apart from the space bar fits.
Solid, strong, weighty. Doesn’t move whilst gaming, keys are smooth. Download the hyper x software to change the lights! Excellent keyboard.
My first time trying a true mechanical keyboard since the original cherry keyboard many years ago – excellent key response and the backlighting is excellent although I did have an issue with the software where one key would not light up (backslash) this turned out to be a firmware issue which was resolved by reinstalling the software and then plugging in the keyboard (I did it the other way around to start with) – this automatically installed the most recent firmware.
Overall, an excellent keyboard for general typing and FPS games, would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a decent mechanical keyboard without spending a fortune.
Fits perfectly on my Corsair. I did half and half for the video to show the light comparison.
Well worth the money!
Honestly these are so much better than my previous keycaps. They are made from hard wearing plastic, and the coating isn’t prone to getting greasy. They make my RGB pop which is the main reason I got them. I didn’t use all the caps as some of my original ones have specific functions written on them. Definitely recommended if you want to make the most of your RGB
Purchased while on offer at 64.99
Build quality fells very good. Key travel is comfortable and precise. RGB lighting was easy to set up and customize, and allows you to store 3 profiles on the keyboard if you don’t want the controll software running in the background all the time. Would recommend.
Used these on my k100 and it makes the lighting look much better than the stock caps, only downside is theyre rather slippery
Really nice keyboard, was quite expensive when I bought, decent static red LED colours and great cherry blues.
Really nice for typing and Long gaming sessions whilst also not cluttering your desk.
What you’re really paying for is the build quality though really strong metal chassis and nice sleeved cable. Been using for a couple years and still works 100%.
Would be nice if was RGB so I could change the static colour to something else as the red won’t fit with all builds that you do but if you aren’t too fussed I would 100% recommend if you just want something compact and reliable that looks and feels really nice.
9/10
Compact, perfect key action and built like a tank. I like to really use a product before I leave a review, especially when I have spent a good amount of money on it. This is the higher end of keywords in terms of price but IT IS WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY. With the amount of use my keywords get it is a miracle if one lasts more than 6 months. I have now been using this for close to 2 years and after a few cleans, made all the better by the easy-to-remove keys, my HyperX is as good as new. Not a single fault.
Had a few keys start to fail on me. Pinched a few replacements from an old keyboard I had. The stock keys seem to have a weaker post that joins with the cherry keys. These new ones are much more solid and I hope will last. The price for what they are is a little rich but they look and feel great. Better than forking out for a new gaming keyboard 100%. I would buy these again but hopefully will not have to for a good long while.
I wanted to buy a cheaper mechanical keyboard for my son, and settled on this HyperX Alloy Origins.
In the world of mechanical keyboards this isn’t a custom built beauty, but what it is, is a perfectly good workhorse keyboard.
The HyperX software isn’t great, and on first plugging it in I was asked to update the firmware. I did, and then the leds started blinking randomly. That was fixed after restarting the computer.
The keycaps aren’t a profile I personally like, but that’s preference. They are ABS though, and that means they’ll get shiny.
Beyond those things this is perfectly good at what it does. Would recommend, especially if you’re buying mostly for gaming needs.
Looks great and really brings out LED patterns.
I bought for the Corsair K95 – Corsair are notorious for being “really clever” and making their bottom row different sizes to 99% of the rest of keyboard manufacturers (wish I knew before I purchased, the top ASUS kbd is better btw – just in case you were thinking of spening $200 on a top end mechanical)
Anyway, ALL keys fit minus space bar, 2x windows key & the right hand side Function key (bertween CTRL & WiN key. Which is not the end of the world. There are you tube videos sahowing how to sand paper down the sides of you existing keys to be pudding topped. (If you have 4+ hours you could do this diy to you entire double shot key set, but for 20 most of us can earn 5 times+ that in 4 hours so… cheaper to buy the set,
ps If you do own a corsair keyboard (unlucky us) search SignalRGB – a fastly developed iCue replacement that is actually EASY to use and reacts to audio. (Only corsair would create a product line whose only item that reacts to audio are the item you dont see, the headphones !!! Fans, mice, keyboards, mouse mats etc etc – nope not 1 flashes to beat detection…. corsair, utter geniuses, iCue4 – the couldn’t even spell their combined IQ4 correctly.
TL;DR BUY THIS CAP SET !!!!!!!!!!!! it looks awesome !!!!!!!!!!!
The keyboard is really high quality and sturdy. The switches have a low actuation point (1.1mm) which makes mistyping quite common. Once you get used to it, it’s great to type on.
Standard layout so no issues coming from any other regular keyboard.
The software for rgb programming is pretty terrible, be warned.
Its sleek, efficient, and understanded design really makes this an attractive keyboard to more than just gamers – even for those that want to explore for the first time, without the huge costs, keyboard customisation.
Proper, exposed, LEDs (not hidden behind the key switch), gives a better range and depth of colour. Will say, the RGB software could be improved a little, takes a moment or 5 to understand its requirements, but the big plus is being able to save a profile direct to the keyboard – you don’t have to rely on the software being active!
If you’re looking to customise, keycaps will be your first thing….but beyond this, and for every day use, the keyboard is not loud (doesn’t dominate when talking and typing in a meeting), good switch response, key travel.
For the money, this beats the more expensive offerings out there (Corsair/Logitech) though won’t beat the custom built keyboards.
I had previously bought a Logitech G series keyboard, it had a series of problems (see my review of it)
some were usability (this silly trend of placing the symbols below the digits on the keys) others were design issues, (only the primary symbol on a key lit up making it impossible to find the obscure symbols) and finally plain simple quality issues, the space bar was too flimsy and would not register keystrokes and within a few weeks the keycaps were coming off.
This Keyboard is cheaper, far better built, has non of the issues. The keys are well presented and traditionally laid out. The entire keycap lights up, the software is fine. All the keys strike well and always register. and despite a few weeks of solid use, there is no sign of wear.
Big thumbs up for HyperX – I’d been a repeat Logitech customer for many many years and their shoddy new designs have made me look elsewhere. I am really glad I did.
The software to program the keys is slightly awkward (only for RGB), but once it’s setup it’s fine.
The keyboard itself is ace though. I’ve been using this for hours most days (programming, general use) for a little over a year or so and I’m very happy with it. The switches are comfortable and aren’t loud enough to annoy others but are loud enough to be satisfying. The font’s well printed and the per-key RGB is clear and bright. The shortcuts/hotkeys (media keys, etc) are sensible and well placed. It does collect dirt, but shaking the keyboard and cleaning the more open areas with a Q-tip is suitable enough.
Overall, very happy with this keyboard.
It’s a good looking keyboard with a robust build and the software let’s you set each key individually. It’s perfect for late night gaming.
One point to note, as I may have otherwise given it a bad review.
It would be nice if gaming mode disabled on shutdown, if for no other reason, a month and a half into owning it I thought it was broken. I was getting triple taps, my windows key was none responsive, was really disappointed, it’s a very pretty keyboard. Then I was pretty happy when I saw the little light in the corner and realised I had turbo mode.
Once you learn that, good keyboard. Maybe read the manual, I still haven’t, but I like to play.
You can have different apps trigger light combinations, set 3 favourites, dim and brighten, and the media buttons work where you’d expect them too.
his keyboard is probably the best one i could have got because i wanted a 75% keyboard for a good price with good switches and after a while of finding which switches i liked, i chose red switches which i’m currently happy with after 6 months after purchase, the only thing is that the stabilisers on the space bar aren’t that great, otherwise it’s easy clean, easily customisable, has rounded edges to prevent damage or getting hurt, and looks nice along with the different switching modes
Upgrading from a membrane keyboard to mechanical for the first time, this keyboard works an absolute dream. I wouldn’t call myself a keyboard enthusiast, but there’s definitely a reason that Cherry MX Reds are so popular, particularly with gamers. It feels great for pretty much everything that I use it for on a daily basis, sounds great (though if your walls are thin the keys might be a tad too loud for your liking) and the full-metal frame gives the entire keyboard a super sturdy feel with zero flex.
My only complaint is the forced red colour across the keyboard (if you’re looking for any colour other than that, I would recommend looking for an RGB variant) but if red is your theme, this will look great with your setup. Each key is individually lit with customizable brightness to some extent through the board itself, but I personally find myself having every key on full brightness anyways.
Typing feels nice on it however have been having troubles with key chattering, have tried reinstalling drivers, connect to different PCs however seems like I was unfortunate to receive a keyboard with 2 chattering keys.
Other than that its a nice mechanical keyboard, use this at the office as it’s comfortable to type on and is quie
All my fellow osu! Players will understand how this keyboard is good.
But here’s my opinion, this keyboard has very nice red linear switches which feel very similar to cherry mx browns which is why I am already used to it now, the lighting is well lit there isn’t a single key I can’t see on the keyboard.
My taps feel VERY responsive I’ve never felt anything like this from other keyboards to this level, every individual keystroke feels like I’m in complete control. This keyboard is very good for games that require rapid keystrokes in succession and will not ghost or be unresponsive. Also, is good for typing I can easily get 90 wpm+ on this keyboard on 10fastfingers.com and I have literally had this keyboard for 2 days, however I do need to get used to the spaced apart keys and how wide the keyboard is. But so far I am very pleased with this keyboard!
This is a great TKL keyboard and it boasts excellent build quality. It’s hefty and solid. The solid red per-key LEDs are ideal, and have a few modes. As an aside – Red is the only RGB colour I used on my previous RGB KB, anyway. If you’re of the same ilk, then save some cash and get this over it’s successor.
The Cherry MX Red linear keys can take a little getting used to if you are used to a keyboard with some kind of tactile feedback; such as membrane (like me). Do not expect any resistance before a key press has been registered. For example: If you type soft, or slowly, enough, you can literally type silently.
Overall, it doesn’t have that horrible mushy feeling you get with a membrane, but also doesn’t have that loud, audible *clack* you get from other mechanical keys.
This KB can be used for typing and gaming, but you just need to be careful about resting your fingers on the keys.
The U.S layout isn’t an issue. Inserting a, ” sign takes a Shift-Alt key press to switch to a U.K. Layout in Windows. Problem solved.
Either way, if you’re in the market for a solid-built TKL keyboard with red LEDs then buy this, right now.
Can’t argue with the price and build quality but UK customers don’t get the option of the tactile keys except getting the US layout. Very good for games but due to no feedback from the linear keys, I get regular typos but probably would’ve adjusted in the long run if I didn’t send it back.
First off, they look fantastic.
They feel really nice on the finger tips too.
CORSAIR KEYBOARDS
The Bottom row of keys might be a bit of a problem for you.
Another review mentions this for their Corsair K68, I have the Corsair K70.
The bottom row of keys have different dimensions to the ones that came with the keyboard
The CTRL key isn’t wide enough, and is kind of inset. The Windows key and ALT don’t fit next to each other.
The Space bar doesn’t fight at all. The space bar as 3 sockets that connect it to actual switch. If you line up the middle socket, the other 2 sockets don’t reach the little switches they’re to connect to, these 2 outer switches hold up the space bar, and prevents it from even being partly attached.
So I’ve got these keycaps on the whole keyboard, except the bottom row. Kind of spoils it a little, but I can’t really hold it against this product as a whole.
Although shouldn’t these things be standardised across all keyboards? So this stuff doesn’t happen?
Pros – Small size so nicer for someone with less desk space
Its got a nice weight to it so won’t slide around when playing ( an issue that’s common on cheaper keyboards )
Buttons are like a mechanical keyboard in terms of sound
The keyboard wire is a good length allowing a bit more freedom in where your pc or whatever is.
No real issues with it
I have been playing warzone mainly with this keyboard and it has lead to an improvement in my movement in the game as the buttons feel more responsive. I would recommend this keyboard to people who are looking to upgrade their current keyboard
Great keycaps, very bright.. It’s a shame that space bards don’t have a strip of LEDs rather than one single LED in the middle which makes the spacebar appear dull on each side, not really an issue on standard keycaps but with these, it’s noticeable for obvious reasons. I do prefer the textured, more grippy, and matte look of the Corsair’s keycaps but I bought these for the light show! Fantastic product, it’s a shame the spacebar has the HyperX logo on it, would prefer they just used the standard line logo. Either way, I’m still happy with them!
Corsair has finally adopted the standard keyboard layout on the K100 so they look great on the Corsair K100 and you have the option to use the whole keycap set where as on previous Corsair keyboards you could only use these keycaps on select of keys. The only keys you can’t use these on for obvious reasons are the programmable keys and the media keys but why would you? Its good for those additional keys to be set apart from the rest.
The Pudding keycaps are ABS and let more LED light shine through them than the PPT keycaps, but the ABS caps need to be cleaned more often as they get a greasy look to them. But again, the PPT caps only come in the US configuration so the enter key and small shift key (number 2 key, @ key etc) etc will be incompatible with your keyboard. What I did was use PPT keys for the function, QWERTY keys and right side of the keyboard keys and used a combination of ABS and PPT keys for everything else. I’ve included a picture of the small shift key so that you can see the difference in the amount of more LED light that the ABS keys let through.
But I digress, the keycaps bring it to a new level, it looks like I have a new keyboard now, well worth the money.
I’ve used this keyboard for about a week now and I have yet to find a single fault with it,
The keyboard base is made from stolid steel and has a nice weight to it. The base also has the usual two legs, allowing you have the keyboard be slightly raised.
The USB cable can also be detached from both ends making it easy to move the keyboards position or moving it off the desk completely if you have a small/compact desk such as myself.
The keys themselves have a nice resistance to them, I’d say in they are in medium in tension and reasonably spaced apart. The led back-lighting is also really good and has a few different modes, including WASD, wave, fade in and out, constantly on and constantly off.
The back-lighting also has various brightness levels too.
The cable of the keyboard is also very well made and is very durable as it is braided too. It has a nice red and black design making it easy to identifying the cable in your cable tidy or on the back of your PC,
The sound of your key clicks are very loud, which I personally really like 🙂
Highly recommend it!
5/5
( Click “Helpful” if this helped ^__^ )
Firstly, I love this keyboard and I have gotten very used to it. Getting used to it, however, took some time.
The keys require very little force to press. At the beginning I found myself clicking without intending to while just resting my fingers over WASD. I’ve gotten used to it now though and it doesn’t happen anymore.
I’m an accurate touch typist, but if you aren’t accurate, I can see how some people would quite often press multiple keys at a time because of how light the keys are. So only recommend if you can type well.
The RGB is very bright, dimmable of course, and I love how the keys are individually lightable. I thought it would be useful for highlighting certain important keys for gaming, but it’s really not as I don’t look at keys when I play, but nice to have anyway.
The build quality is genuinely excellent, its steel construction make the keyboard have a very heavy, premium feel to it.
In hindsight, I would not have gone for a full size keyboard as my desk isn’t so large, but I know if I went for a compressed keyboard I would get annoyed at not having the 10 keys on the right. Minor annoyance that I think I’d rather live with anyway!
The product is very well made and lovely for gaming. The features are awesome such as the ability to change background lighting functions. The only negative is the loud-sounding key typing! It’s not the best for typing whilst on calls, I have had a number of complaints and been asked to mute on that basis…
I would recommend if you don’t care about sounds!
FYI – I have returned the product in search of a quieter option.
looking for small budget keyboard for fps gaming, and tried this, have to say not a fan of blue switch, it is heavy and quite noisey, the quality of keyboard itself is good, the alloy plate is clean and feels very durable, serval cons, it doesn’t have rgb, or white light for that matter, and to be honest the micro usb cable with the color of black and red looks quite ugly, since most of the people don’t care please use black ones. i will return and change this for red switch for another try.
Okay, well at just over 1 week old this keyboard has already outlasted the razer one I bought previously.
For Gaming-
For me this keyboard is really good gaming wise, the low actuation force is exactly what I was after. It seems pretty durable (decently heavy and sturdy keys) makes it ideal for the type of games I play (Mostly platformers & JRPGs)
Comfort-
Hard to say how you’d find it but I often play for well over 10 hours without a break on weekends and i’ve not noticed anything uncomfortable about it during those long sessions
Accuracy-
the response time is very quick with this, i’d say it’s less than the blackwidow chroma that I purchased which for half the price is worrying.
Overall:
Yeah, great keyboard and not too expensive either as far as mechanical keyboards go. I’d say it’s worth buying
(it sounds real nice also if you like clicky keyboards)
This is the best mechanical keyboard I’ve ever used. More information below:
Absolutely amazing for everything. Gaming, typing, portability, appearance & feel. The keycaps are extremely comfortable and smooth and pleasant to the touch. Regarding the switches – a lot of people say that Cherry MX Blues can be a detriment to your gaming experience, but that’s absolutely not true – it all falls down to personal preference. I much prefer blues over the reds, which are generally branded as the “best gaming switch”. The keyboard legs are extremely strong & sturdy – something that my previous 4 mechanical keyboards have lacked even though they were much more expensive. It’ll take a lot of effort to break or damage them.
The larger keys are a little bit wobbly (space bar, shift etc.) but it’s nothing too noticeable. If the keycaps were a little sturdier, I would have absolutely nothing bad to say about the board. It’s not a complaint, but I think that making the keys a little less wobbly would make the board a solid 11/10. They’re not extremely loose, a lot of people wouldn’t notice it. I would just personally like the keys, especially the space bar, to move around less.
The length of the detachable cable is extremely generous and the quality of the cable is exceptional. The board is incredibly well-built and feels very tanky, but it’s not too heavy. The design is sleek, and the font is very nice too. If you’re looking for a mechanical keyboard, I can not recommend this one enough. I’ve owned 5 of them and used plenty of others, and this one is by far my favourite so far. It doesn’t have any pretentious, intrusive “gaming” gimmicks either – therefore I’ll be buying another one for work. Thanks HyperX for making such a good keyboard!
I love this keyboard, it’s the main reason I decided to go full hyperx for peripherals!
Great company and products.
However I feel somewhat that the keys on this keyboard are really weak, I’ve used this keyboard for roughly a year and a half (had a 6 months break with no use though in this time) I’ve alreay had a few replacement keys from hyperx, but there’s so many keys that the actual catches have snapped and the keys just fall off now, I’m not sure whether I can get a full set of replacement key caps or something as I’d rather not buy another keyboard..
I’m not really sure how this is an FPS Pro gaming keyboard. It’s just a regular tenkeyless keyboard with some LEDs, but it is actually a good keyboard. The detachable braided cable is nice and has been reliable. The key caps are nothing special, but haven’t started to get shiney, dull or worn after a couple of months of use. The actual build quality of the keyboard feels great. It’s a nice hefty chunk of steel and I have had no issues with quality. The mechanical key switches are what you expect from Cherry, no issues with them at all.
One issue I’ve had with the keyboard is that sometimes the software controlling the LEDs glitches out and the keyboard needs resetting, but this is actually a pretty rare occurrence since I don’t really mess around with all the different LED settings. Other owners have reported that their keys also stop responding, but I think I’ve only had this issue whilst using the keyboard on macOS, and was easily fixed by resetting the keyboard with two buttons.
So this is the first review I’ve ever done on Amazon as I really felt that this product warranted it.
By far it’s the best keyboard I have ever purchased. In the past I’ve always used membrane keyboards, but more recently I wanted to try out a mechanical one as I’d heard good things about them. I know this is incredibly geeky, but I also love the sound mechanical keyboards make when you’re typing.
This thing feels and sounds beautiful. It’s lovely to type and game with. The light features are also a nice touch. Although I don’t think I’ll be changing from the standard back-lit keys, it’s still nice to show other people what it can do. I also really like the fact that there’s no driver download/install required, it’s quite literally plug in and play.
I only have a few gripes with this, as you can see though this hasn’t changed my 5 star score. The first is the fact that this product didn’t offer a UK layout version, I found myself struggling to find a few keys where I’d normally expect to find them. It wasn’t enough to put me off buying the product though. The only other gripe I have is that I’m really struggling with the enter key, it’s much smaller and is slightly differently placed than my previous keyboard, so that’s going to take some getting used to as well. Obviously they couldn’t have avoided this as the keyboard is just the right size in my opinion.
