This is a very nifty piece of kit . Got a new work laptop and since my sound wasn’t great others struggled to hear me on everyday Microsoft Teams calls. Got this plugged it into my docking station and never had a problem since so easy to set up and whilst it’s a little bit more expensive then others it works really well. Highly recommend anyone who is working remotely .
I have been using headphones and earbuds and they are fine, but I liked the idea of having a conference speaker and took the plunge. I spend a lot of time on video calls, and this actually transformed my experience. I cannot say why but it is so much more natural using this than using headphones, it sounds like the people are right there in front of me, and I never have to play around with headphones. It’s great for listening to music and watching movies too. And it is very small. I highly recommend it.
I am writing this review 3 years later. We bought the Jabra speak 510 at the beginning of the pandemic for my kid’s violin and guitar lessons. This has worked very well!! According to the music teacher is the sound quality unbeaten among his students. We use a PC work station, a Mac book and have also used this via blue tooth with an iPhone. BW
Excellent sound quality and noise reduction. Don’t know why I didn’t invest in one of these earlier. Such a relief to have this instead of wearing a headset especially if you are on calls most the day! I deffo recommend
For home office, better sound quality than a laptop! Conferencing and if few people upto 4 can talk easily.
This is not a music speakers, so dont expect high standards. But good for office work, or some online classes to attend and or trainings etc.
I’ve bought several of these now for the team. Absolutely essential for endless web meetings – excellent sound quality for both the speaker and microphone, and complete hands-free operation is much less tiring than using a heaadset or earbud. Makes web calls seem much more natural.
It’s plugged into the laptop by USB, with the Bluetooth used for mobile phone calls. Never had need to use it on battery power.
Only negatives are that when Bluetooth is switched on, a notification on the phone causes the web meeting audio on the laptop to drop out, and it has a habit of grabbing the phone audio even when you’re at the other end of the house. So I just hit the Bluetooth button only when I need it. And I’ve never managed to make the Google Assistant button work (needs some horrible additional software installing). But that’s no loss at all.
Just bought this for my home office. I have to say I’m very impressed, crisp and clear and good level of volume to apology my hands free call from my mobile. Great price and highly recommended
Bought this to use on MS Teams as laptop speaker is very poor unless directly facing screen. I have used this to good effect both on our conference room table (6 people) and also being positioned in the middle of a large office (using bluetooth) with no loss to the speaker or mic sound quality. We often had several people in the same room joining meetings and suffered feedback if more than one laptop was unmuted.
Excellent buy and good value for money.
An incredible piece of equipment. works brilliantly and is very clear in a boardroom with 20+ people on a 4 hour conference call. Multiple devices are able to connect to it concurrently and setup is effortless. The only thing that could be improved are the buttons, but once you have mastered how to touch it, everything works great. Battery life is brilliant and plugging it in is effortless.
I work from home and using headphones gives me earache and makes me feel dizzy. I was told a conference speaker would be best for me. Looked at all the reviews and chose this one based on what people said-but if I’m honest was really sceptical it would be any good in terms of me hearing my clients and them hearing me clearly. Tried today for first time. Easy to connect to Bluetooth ie literally seconds to do. Straightforward and clear controls. Used with two clients and it was excellent.
I’m really really surprised and pleased at this fantastic little gadget. 10/10. Would highly recommend. Worth every Penny.
Excellent bit of kit, really does improve the quality of Teams calls, works with Windows, Mac, android and IOS.
I use it at my desk and link my module and computer for hands free video and telephone calls, the range is over 10m, and best of all no Bluetooth dongle is needed.
I use this every day in my office and car and at home
– as it saves me holding my mobile phone to my head
Super sound quality for me and the other perso
Plug in USB and go. Made to work seamlessly with teams and zoom. Never fails to conect. Can pick up every one in the meeting room at normal volumes. Worth the extra money. Very well made.
This is a fantastic addition to live conference calls on line. The clarity of speech via the speaker is great. I have just used this speaker in a conference meeting with 12 people around the table in a large room due to social distancing plus additional attendees on line. The people at the receiving end (via Teams) complimented the reception. I used the speaker connected to my laptop via the USB cable but it does have a Bluetooth connection, which I will try next time so. The speaker was able to capture speakers at 360 degrees and at furthest, 3m away.
A very lightweight unit and I’m delighted with it so far. Highly recommended.
Perfect for use with conference call apps like teams, duo etc., pairs with my laptop and smartphone and holds the Bluetooth connection well. Good sound output and the mic does a great job of not picking up surrounding noise. For all other audio, such as music or video, the sound quality is poor. Then again it’s main use is for conf calls, and am quite happy with that.
I adore this. No more neck issues for me… yes it works in a quiet environment for up to 4 people but more than that its to much for the little fella. Also its important to try not to speak over.each other for the benefit of the dial in
What I am very dissapointrd about is that the touch buttons for closing the call is somewhat useless and it was all working so very well indeed…
Can’t send back because window to return has not long since closed so I will write to Jabra to also state that I wish I had bought the 710 or even known about it when I was purchasing this one….
Still absolutely worth it.. really made a nice little difference to both my work and personal life!
I’ve even named mine I love the benefits to my work from home and away role AAAAA LOT
Apart from that touch button!! Grrrr because its not that old
Will go to customer service team they are amazing!
Should have bought this a year ago! Great sound quality and very easy to use with a laptop.
It’ll be invaluable still when I get travelling again, as will be very useful as a mobile conference phone.
This excellent device should come with a more specific and essential guide to one key aspect of performance. Many of the 1 star reviews suggest many people had similar challenges to ours. While the bluetooth connection to the phone works well with phone call traffic, if you then switch over to a zoom/teams or skype call, it is essential to temporarily ‘disconnect’ the phone handset by tapping that bluetooth icon on the Jabra device.
This configuration issue matters and the 510 device cannot automatically adjust voice/sound which is sourced from a competing desktop app like zoom.
Ordered this as wanted a bit more freedom from wired headset / covered ears.
Perfect & easy to set-up. Linked easily to works remote citrix connection & also to mobile bluetooth.
Mic is very clear according to other people in meeting and handles background noise really well.
All in all, very happy with this.
Bought this for conference calls in the home office as wearing a headset all day was too uncomfortable. This works very effectively for calls and removing any echo, very pleased with the sound quality in general.
I did have issues with the noise cancellation over Bluetooth unfortunately so I’d recommend plugging it into usb if you face the same issue.
I previously used headset for calls, whilst that was not a bad option, I could hear my voice, and often that distracted when speaking.
I tried the Plantronics 620, but unfortunately, I was not able to place calls on mute. Weird right? but apparently, it’s a known issue on their website.
I then did a bit of research and bought this Jabra 510 for (I think 78) and works perfectly fine with amazon chime. I read some reviews, that it also works fine with other calling apps, but I never really tired others.
Cons:
High price, in general, for these types of products
Bluetooth does not work with whatsapp calls
Overall, a good bit of kit. Easy to to set up, just plug in and nothing to install or upset the IT security team…
Minor quibbles unclude speaker output, as though adequate could perhaps be a tad more powerful. Also as per other comments here, when connected by Bluetooth the volume can’t be controlled from the PC/Laptop, but I can sort of see the logic for that. To summarise, well designed and made and saves having to whip headphones off and on during the working day.
My in-laws were having trouble hearing us on our calls. I watched them struggle, faces looming closer to the screen. This device has sorted the problem. They are now sitting back, relaxed, hearing every word we utter (even those they shouldn’t). The speaker is sleek, lightweight and appears very well made. The sound quality is excellent. I would highly recommend this item. I have received no inducements for this review, nor do I want any.
Having been working from home permanently since March I have tried a few different headsets, but found that even with cushioned earpads, hours and hours of endless meetings have taken their toll and my ears ache. I wish I’d bought the Jabra 510 sooner (work paid for my headsets, but not this). The freedom to now roam around the room whilst on a call is great, but actually the sound quality is worth it alone. I’m told I’m very clear and am easily understood. I use this with Skype in the main (as that is what we use at work most of the time), but we are rolling out Microsoft Teams so I was eager to get the Microsoft-certified version so I was guaranteed it would work (not yet tested). Outside of work I use Zoom a lot, so it needed to be compatible with that too. Highly recommended.
Bought for my home office for use with Zoom connected to my Dell laptop. It’s a good desktop speaker / mic unit and is a significant improvement on using the laptop’s built in speakers and mic. That said, the unit a just a little “lightweight” and I would have preferred it to feel a little weightier and solid. As some other reviewers noted who upgraded from this unit to one higher up in the Jabra range, the more you spend, the better the kit gets. On the positives, nice sound quality and no issues with bluetooth connection dropping with my Dell or with my iPhone. Overall 4/5 it’s good but just not great!
Bought this as wearing a headset for lots of calls while working from home was getting uncomfortable. Others had recommended this, so gave it a go.
Delivered quicker than expected which was a bonus.
It’s super easy to set up, just plugged into the USB on my laptop and off it went.
Audio quality is much better both for me and those on the other end of my calls.
Have also used the Bluetooth to stream music from my phone when not on calls.
No negatives so far.
Great device for my needs, would recommend.
I haven’t used this much and when I do there may be long stretches in between uses. It always seems to be ready to go with plenty of power. I haven’t had any issues with pairing it with a number of different devices, and the sound is considerably better than that just coming out of my phone. The software on the computer is a bit of a nag, but otherwise, it all stays out of the way until ready.
I have worked from home part time for a couple of years, and used my laptop microphone and speaker for remote meetings.
Because of lockdown I decided to splash out on a remote speaker. Wow. It’s just brilliant. It automatically syncs with skype so I can pick up calls direct from my jabra. The speaker and microphone are great – in fact people often comment on the quality of the background noise.
The fact i also connect it to my phone over bluetooth is a bonus, but a really welcome one. I now make most of my calls at home using the jabra which produces a much better quality than its internal speakerphone and microphone.
I’ve spent hours and hours on Video calls in the recent months.
This Jabra really changed things for the better for me.
Everyone said my audio improved and the sound at my end is super clear.
I love being able to start/stop calls with the buttons, muted via a button is better than muting with a mouse and volume via button and not the pc – YES PLEASE!
Finally, I have my phone bluetoothed to it at the same time. If my phone rings (as it does all the time when WFH the Jabra comes on, if it’sa Teams call, the Jabra does the business.
Stop differing and invest in your happiness right now. You want regret it.
This is a versatile and high quality device. Build quality is robust. It can connect to a PC and is recognised instantly in Windows 10. It can connect via bluetooth to a phone and tablet. Call quality is excellent in both microphone and speaker performance. I use it as a multi caller device and a hands-free device. Flawless. I have used this on a business VOIP application and as a handsfree for my mobile. Very useful and means you are not constantly holding a phone to your ear.
So very impressive – out of the box, plugged into my iMac and it started working immediately, with no tweaks needed. Did also try Bluetooth which, again, was totally straightforward. I had been having problems with teleconferencing because the built-in microphone needed me to be close and other people couldn’t hear what I was saying if I was sitting comfortably. Now works brilliantly. As a side benefit the accuracy of dictation in Word has improved as well. A great piece of kit!
The device was easy to use and had few instructions, it was as simple as connecting a normal Bluetooth speaker. The first call was made with perfect sound clarity and everyone on the call hear everything that was said by all participants. So I couldn’t have asked for anything more! Although it is still early days in regards to getting an understanding of its battery life, but so far so good.
