I have bought many in expensive and branded ear headphones. Normally they are absolute rubbish at changing between devices. This is an exception to that with changes happening straight away and no connectivity problems afte4 that. The sound is quality as well. You won’t be disappointed
Comfortable and good quality sound. Only issue is that the right earphone stopped working after 6 months. Currently going through the warranty process, and therefore have deducted 1 star (provided they honour the warranty I think this is fair – it’s quite a faff but I assume this is a rare scenario).
This is a excellent product for the gym or cycling. The hardware is sound. Good ear fit and great sound.
Sadly the software fails compared to the the original one. The setting on the app to remove active noise cancelling just kicks in sometimes whilst cycling. Not so much of a problem. But the biggest issue is when you switch applications from spotify to youtube as an example. Audio stops working completely. Bluetooth connection remains but the audio does not work. You have to disconnect and reconnect to get it working again. I opened a ticket with Jaybird technical support and this is a known issue with no current fix.
Overall, I’m happy with these earphones. I’m not a big audiophile, but I like the sound quality. They are my go-to earphones for workouts. They also have a good fit in the ear.
Today they reached their (presumably) natural end of life after 2 years 5 months. The left bud stopped producing sound. No amount of troubleshooting managed to fix it. The only other noticable problem is that on a few occasions the max volume was very low. Had to perform a factory reset to get it back, but not too annoying.
Even without the ANC these drown out most sound anyway as they are inner ear buds.
They come with multiple size silicone tips so they can fit a range of ear sizes.
The jaybird app is very convenient. I like very bass heavy music, and so I just set the preset to high bass and boom… never had to mess around with presets.
You can customise what each press of the buds do but i left it at default.
The biggest selling point for me is the fact that they do not come loose or fall out of your ear. I like to go on the treadmill for a run after my free weight sessions. I am pleased to say I have never had to worry about them even coning loose whatsoever. The wingtip makes sure of that, and because the silicone tips are actually molded over the whole device, there is nothing to go loose.
I have had ZERO interference issues with gym equipment and other Bluetooth users around me. I just wanted to put this out there.
I love the little wireless charing case you get with it. The buds have a magnet that just snaps into place when you put them in. I get plenty of charge out of the case when I am away for long periods of time.
**Lastly, I can only give 4/5 because occasionally only one bud will charge when I put them back in the case. I read about this before purchasing them and it was not a deal breaker for me. The buds are fantastic. Sometimes the metal contacts need a bit of a wipe after being in your ear, no big deal.**
I hope this has helped some of you.
So, parking those issues for a moment, if you want these to connect to a phone and play music then they are great.
Upon arrival and unboxing these had about 50% charge so I could crack on and set them up. Pairing on my phone was easy, although a little different (you pair them using the case rather than the buds), but once set up off you go. I downloaded the app and sync the buds to it, again pretty easy to do and then that’s where the magic starts! The app was really good, a little overwhelming to begin with as there is a lot going on, settings and profiles for sounds, ability to change when the button presses do and turning on/off ANC etc
The best bit about the app is the sound profile/equaliser settings, you can literally tweak the full range, bass, treble, mid etc, I’ve never seen this level of customisation on a set of buds before and it works beautifully. I spent a good hour sat listening to music and playing around with the equaliser to find a profile that suited me. You can then save custom settings (or choose a pre made profile) and switch between them with a simple tap. That means you can switch back to the default flat profile and the difference is day and night. Having owned a few other earbuds (Cambridge audio, Anker, Bose) these sound the best. The only issue with the sound and it’s a small one, is the level of bass, but it’s no worse than the majority of earbuds out there, you don’t really get that bassy thump with earbuds. The only ones I found that have a decent bass are the Bose soundsport.
I had no issues with the fit, using the default medium size silicon tips, the wings are small and neatly tucked into my ears. Felt comfortable and stable.
I didn’t have these long enough to fully test the ANC out, but when music was paused or stopped the outside sound passthrough was fantastic, almost felt like I didn’t have anything in my ears, I could hear everything without having to take them out, what’s a real bonus for me, you don’t need to keep taking them in and out if you want to stop to talk to someone.
Once they are in your ears, you have two ways to control them (that you can customise in the app) a soft ‘tap’ on the bud, or a hard press. I found the soft tap worked well, although you can get caught out inadvertently triggering it when adjusting the buds in your ears. The hard press I liked less, I found the force needed to press the button in meant you were pushing them into yours ears a bit too much, which was uncomfortable.
For running, apart for aforementioned issues with connection, these worked great, they felt stable and comfortable, eventually not noticing them in your ears and just listening to great sounding music.
I loved these and was heartbroken returning them, but just couldn’t get over the Garmin connection issues. If this can be fixed I’d consider these again in the future.
These were a replacement for Bose SoundSports, which were flawless sonically, but had challenges in other ways (let in too much noise, could be easily knocked out of ear). The Jaybirds are worthy successors.
Audio is amazing; I particularly like the ability to personally tune it. ANC is decent, there is still some noise leak, but not hugely so – my test is descending on a bike, and I don’t get much, if any, wind noise. I don’t use the Surround Sense, it’s a bit pointless, I just have it turned off .
The buds are a perfect fit; I use them running, cycling, lifting weights and walking the dog, and they don’t budge.
Battery life is really good. This is something I haven’t tested to its fullest, but I’ve noticed they go long between case charges.
I have noticed that ocasionally, if you pause music for a long time, they won’t pick up audio again, however, changing the settings in-app, and turning them off and on again, resets them.
I have tried a lot of sports wireless headphones, and these are genuinely brilliant, easily the best I’ve used.
Connected to my Samsung S22 ultra first time
The pre fitted ear buds fit me just fine, no need to change them.
They were already at 80% charge when they arrived which ment I could head straight out for a 5k recovery run
Make sure to turn on find my buds in the app, it’s superb, very accurate.
The My EQ function is really good too, it gives me a nice well balanced sound.
Bass & treble are good, although there’s a little distortion at full volume which is bass related but not really a problem unless you need to use them at full volume which I find uncomfortable.
There’s no noise cancelling on these, but they are very good at isolating heavy traffic noise in built-up areas, to the point where are you almost can’t hear any traffic.
The safety reasons it may be better to use these at a lower volume or with one bud at a time rather than two.
Overall these are lovely pair of earbuds, yes secure in your ears, comfortable and incredibly lightweight.
I’ve run with these and and do the head shake test and I couldn’t even feel the move it is if the glued into ear.
These are great and I use them for running as they have a secure fit with the wing. Never call out but the hard rubber wing does hurt my left ear as it pushes in at the side. You get 3 different wing tips s/m/l which are all in one construction. The music sounds is great and the app has a lot of features and hood bass also with many different enhancements and you can fiddle with the eq and have sound the way you like your music to sound. The bass is good and it is energetic enough for when you running or gym. The music sounds really nice. You have touch control which I find is pretty average and can be a case of hit and miss. Wireless charging us included. The case has a little rope attachment which I actually hate and makes I think the charging case look ugly. I know it’s useful you can attach to your bag or shorts when running to keep your buds safe when not in use.
These are good buds but also has cons. These are fairly expensive and now in 2022 I am sure there will be many new headphones to choose from now.
When you change equaliser settings on the app the track does stutter a bit, but that’s minor. Ive briefly tried the noise cancellation and talk through, but I won’t use these and never have on other buds tbh so I’m a poor judge on whether these are any good.
I’m most happy about the sound quality, stability, water rating, uber small case, equaliser options, and tap vs press control options. Overall a win!
I don’t wear them for general listening at home though, as I find other headphones more comfortable.
The only downside is that when running, I find that these headphones transmit the thud of my feet on the ground to my ears, and I can hear myself breathing. That might be down to tinnitus, but I don’t have this sensation when using ordinary wired Apple headphones.
Transparency mode & Notice cancelling is good on these & pretty easy to cycle through the modes from the buds themselves via a couple quick taps.
They felt great in my ears & seemed pretty secure.
I wouldn’t have any worry they’ll come loose while being active like running or gym work etc.
They feel and look premium, so does their charge case.
Did have a few hiccups with connecting them to begin with (more so the app can take a while to short them up).
Couple times seemed to drop out of connection with phone too & shouldn’t have been battery related.
Be sure to properly charge them and case before use as I don’t think I did, then without meaning to I let the battery run out across them all & the case never showed past 95% again.
The sound quality is good, but not as mind blowing as I expected, but they are earbuds and not over the ear headphones. They’re perfect for working out, and good at keeping out outside noises, such as the wind; much better than my old pair.
It takes some time to get used to the feel of them in your ears. At first they were causing slight pains and aches in my ears after 5-10 minutes and I had to take them out, but this seems to be improving.
App is great and gives you plenty of EQ choices. Overall I’m happy with my purchase. I probably could have found a pair I was happy with for cheaper, but my friend recommended the brand to me, and he’s had his pair for years now.
The app lets you adjust the EQ and you can choose ones others have made too and they all make such a big difference.
Sound quality is really crystal clear with loads of bass (including plenty of sub-bass for DnB, RnB, Hip-Hop, etc) once you’ve EQ’d it to how you like it. Treble is really clear and separated too with lots of ‘ting’!.
I tried the Bose Sport Earbuds (truly wirlesss) and some wired Beats by Dre and these Vistas were the best by far.
They also fit the best too and don’t need readjusting at all when running.
One niggle though – you may get the occlusion effect from these whereby you hear your footsteps when walking/running when these earbuds are in (like if you were to stick your fingers in your ears and start walking). It’s not too bad once the volume is cranked up and some people don’t experience this at all but for those that do I wouldn’t say it’s a total deal breaker. Although the Bose hardly had this issue, the sound quality of these Vistas trumped the occlusion effect and is hardly noticeable when the you have them at a decent volume level.
The drawbacks:-
The earbuds don’t sit very comfortably in the ear and need pushed in quite firmly to get any noise cancelling. I’ve found myself adjusting them every so often as they can loosen while on the move.
The sound quality is decent but not great. There are a wide range of audio settings you can either play around with or pick one of hundreds of presets. I found a good all rounder which does fine for me and doesn’t overwhelm with the bass but does okay with all the other elements.
The earpieces don’t fit very well. Had a few different in-ear headphones over the years and never had anything that was this uncomfortable. It means my ear gets irritated after a couple of hours but, to be fair, that’s about as as long as I usually would listen to something away from a proper speaker setup.
The benefits:-
The connection. Oh my god it’s reliable! I can play anything through either earpiece individually or together and never had a blip for the months I’ve been using them. It uses separate bluetooth connections for each ear bud so the loss of one doesn’t affect the other, although I’ve never had even a single ear drop out the whole time I’ve had them.
The battery life is excellent. Not best in class but, for the price, you’re getting a lot of hours out of them. Each ear piece could easily last 6 hours. Longest I’ve had them in was four hours and they still hadn’t cut out. The case will charge them to full again several times over so you’re getting a lot of use out of a fully charged case.
The whole package is small and not much bigger than a box of matches, also not much heavier either! The whole thing is very compact and well designed, just wish the comfort of the earpieces was given as much thought.
The control over the buds is excellent too. You can reprogram what each press does and even alternate commands depending on whether you hit the left or right ear. Fast Forward is conspicuously missing but there are a lot of options here for however you want to control your music.
The quality of voice calls is pretty decent. Again, not best in class, but I’ve had several conversations with people on them and the only complaint anyone has made was that it picks up the audio too well and was hard to hear me next to a busy road, otherwise the clarity is impressive.
These are far and away the best I have ever owned.
My last pair were also bluetooth, but not ‘truly wireless’ in the sense that there was a cord linking them around the back. The sound quality was fine, but it had become increasingly annoying how the cord would get stuck in the back of my T-shirt, I was forever having to put my hand back and re-jig the cord while I was jogging.
I read very good reviews of these and decided to purchase them.
Long story short, they are great. I have taken to listening to podcasts and audio books while jogging – having these removes the remaining distraction of trying to feel comfortable and I find I can get lost in what I am listening to while plodding along and shedding calories.
There was one thing I was worried about – the thumping sound of the compressed air while jogging. In the past I have bought sports headphones and they tend to either plug your ears or sit and let some background noise through. I much prefer the type that let some sound through. I don’t really like the thumping sound you get with the ones that plug your ears. I think the air gets compressed and transmits the sound.
Well I was right to be worried – these *are* the type that plug your ears. After my first run I was wondering whether I would be able to get used to the thumping sound, or whether I should send them back. However, on my second run I upped the volume and also made sure I didn’t compress the earphones too much into my ears. The thumping sound is still there but I tend to not notice it now.
In terms of the fit – I tried the small option and medium option for the wings. The small ones seemed stable, but the medium seemed to be the most stable for me, so that is what I opted for. I go out for 40-50 minute runs and have felt no discomfort so far. I also actually fell over and rolled during one of my runs (don’t ask – embarrassing), but the headphones never even felt like they were going to fall out.
In terms of range I have not had problems – I once had them in and walked away from my phone downstairs to the other side of my house and was still getting clear audio through.
In terms of battery, had them for 2-3 weeks now, and probably 7 or 8 runs, and have only charged the container for them once. It’s very good how they get charged when you put them back in the container.
The app is really good. I used the tool to set the levels once when I first hooked them up. It runs a wizard and asks you what feels comfortable for a range of frequencies and then gives you your final custom frequency levels. Or you can do it manually or use a bunch of presets. What it came up with for my custom setup sounds great to me.
The app also automatically upgraded the firmware on the headphones. It also has quick instructions you can look at on what the different buttons do.
In conclusion – great sound, great fit, they are ‘plug’ your ears type. Very very happy with them.
I’ll start by saying that I’m no sound expert.
These are my first wireless headphones and I like them a lot.
Electronic music is what I mainly listen to and it all sounds great. I can hear more of the music than other headphones.
The wireless connection is stable and hasn’t dropped yet when my phone has been on my person. Even when it isn’t it only drops when two or more walls are between me and it.
There is a Jaybird app which lets you adjust the sound of the headphones, almost like an equaliser. There are presets or you can make your own through a short test. Personally this makes my music sound better and if I’m listening to podcasts, its easy to turn off.
The noise cancelling is gained through a tight seal to the ear. You get a few different ‘fins’ that fit into the ear. They fit well for me and it’s near impossible for them to fall out. They feel comfortable for an extended time and most outer noise is quietened. They work well for exercise, no matter how explosive your movement is.
There is a single button on each earphone. This pauses, starts and controls the volume. You hold down the button for the volume to tick up or down. This can be a bit fiddly at times.
It comes in a little case that holds a fair amount of charge. They easily fit in a pocket and it feels sturdy.
I’ve been using them for 6 months and I’m still happy with them.
TLDR, sounds great, won’t fall out, good for exercise and easy to charge/carry.
There’s no transparency mode to allow ambient sound in.
The charging case is relatively compact, lightweight and fits in a pocket without a problem.
I don’t experience any video latency using various video apps.
The earphones have physical buttons for controlling playback. There are volume controls, but you have to program them into the button controls in the app. To raise the volume, you press and hold on the right bud. To lower the volume, you press and hold on the left bud.
Anyone thinking about buying the Jaybird Run should get these instead. Connection stability issues are no more with the Vista earbuds. Yes, these are significantly more expensive, but there’s no point in wireless earbuds if they can’t maintain a connection.
The Jaybird Vista slightly emphasize the low-end but not as much as with the midrange frequencies. This is a departure from how archetypical workout earbuds sound, but it makes the Vista more versatile.
I had no problem listening to these when walking around or cooking; it doesn’t seem appropriate to pigeonhole them as just workout earbuds when the sound signature bodes well for most mainstream genres.
The Jaybird Vista are some of the best true wireless workout earbuds, especially if you’re someone who values both style and function. The matte black finish looks great in or out of the gym, but this understated design doesn’t forgo durability.
The earbuds are comfortable for my ears but I’ve really had a problem with any earbuds being uncomfortable so they’re on par I guess. They don’t weight a lot and you forget you’re wearing them after a while. If I ever did exercise I wouldn’t see there being a problem with them as they fit securely in my ears.
I’ve only had two minor issues with them so far, the right earphone seems to lose charge faster than the left… If I run the batteries from 100% to 0% the left will be at 15% when the right is dead. Not sure what’s up with that but like I said they do last hours and charge super fast so they It’s never really a problem for me because I’m not listening to music for 6 hours straight.
The other minor issue I’ve had with them was when they refused to connect and I had to factory reset them, which wasn’t difficult but slightly annoying.
Still very good product. Would recommend.
I’ve not run out of power yet, but have not measured battery performance. I tend to listen for an hour or so and then return them to the case. This keeps them charged.
The two things that I don’t like.
1- there is no ability to have pass through, so the noise cancelling means you can’t hear your surroundings. I know others have this facility and it I wish these did, especially when as work where I can’t hear if someone talks to me.
2- for me, they get uncomfortable after a while. I’ve tried all the options and for some reason they make my ears sore if wearing for a couple of hours.
After 3 months of using it I can honestly say it’s a great product.
Sound quality is impressive: deep yet not ridiculously strong bass, wide mid range and clear high tones.
Fitting: that’s the main reason I didn’t take Bose as Jaybird fits nicely and doesn’t look like a joystick out of your ear, very comfortable (5-6 hrs a day non stop, you just don’t feel it’s there any more), it’s really hard to loose it while you’re running, jumping, squeezing in the tube or doing crazy yoga positions.
Battery: another great point here, after 5 non stop hours of music and a few phone calls a lady smoothly let’s you know you have 20% battery left so when you grab a coffee and put it back into the case for 10-15min you suddenly have 70% battery left.
The case: I think it’s the best among all others, it’s the smallest of them all and looks pretty smart & cool too.
Connection: within 3 months of using it 5 hrs a day 5 days a week I had just 1 disconnection, restored shortly after. 5.0 bluetooth is working great on the street, in crowded tube as well as in a park or your living room.
The only downside is a phone call – you can hear everyone perfectly, it’s the person on the other end that is sometimes struggling to hear you properly as the mic will pick up everything from your surrounding including your voice (not isolating it) so your voice would be just one of many noises from the background – that is however worse case scenario like crowded commute or strong winds. Having said that, the conversation is possible in any conditions, nice and clear is what you usually get, assuming you’re in a quiet or sheltered conditions.
So why isn’t Jaybird Vista so popular yet? It’s clearly as good as Bose (or others) and looks better too!
The Blutooth connection is great too – so I can leave the phone in one place and freely walk around the gym without it interrupting my music. If you are looking for a good pair of gym earphone, you will not be disappointed with the Jaybird Vistas!
Over the past few months I’ve trialled a number of different types of earphones. Apple AirPods, Powerbeats 3 and Aftershokz Trekz Titanium.
AirPods… rubbish! I know they’re fine for some but for me they just kept falling out and were no good for the gym.
Powerbeats… great at staying in due to the earhook, but they didn’t create enough of a seal therefore the gym music was often trumping what I was playing through them. Plus, the cable kept sticking to my neck when sweating which became a little annoying.
Aftershokz…. great at staying in again due to the design, but the sound quality wasn’t great due to them not being directly in my ear. Great for road running but I didn’t feel comfortable with them in the gym. If I put them too loud there was often too much noise coming from them that others around me could hear.
The Jaybird Vistas solve all of my issues. Great fit (I use the number 3 fittings), these earphones won’t go anywhere even during the hardest of workouts. Due to their tight fit the sound isolation is excellent too. The shortcut buttons are really useful on the buds themselves too. My only gripe is that because they form such a seal in my ear, simply stopping my music isn’t enough when people talk to me so I have to remove one of them to hear clearly. I can live with that though!
Great earphones!
Stumbled across Jaybird, the reviews largely seemed good, so I decided to take the plunge. The headphones are great quality, and come with an app that allows you to change the acoustics. As a man who can never get enough bass, I went for the heavy bass option and there is a noticeable difference.
Battery wise, I get 4 one hour sessions out of the headphones and then another week’s worth of listening when it is in its charging holder. I’d say it’s neither great nor poor, simply average.
Comfort wise, I’ve always struggled to wear headphones for a significant amount of time without them hurting. The same applies to these. I may just have sensitive ears, and they don’t hurt whilst wearing them, but I certainly couldn’t wear them for 2-3-4 hours at a time (and you probably shouldn’t). I’m a “2” bud and it stays in my ear securely. I haven’t tried running with them in but gym movements and there is no feeling of dislodging or slipping out.
Overall, very happy. Not sure how Bose and Beats stack up, as I didn’t bother purchasing, and I’m by no means an audiophile, but they’re definitely worth the money. I just hope they last for a considerable period.
They cancel moderate noise due to the seal they create and the battery lasts for ages if they are put in a fully charged case, so you can wear them loads before having to charge up again.
At first they were uncomfortable, and a big painful, for my very small ears as the wing tips put a lot of pressure on them. However, with more use and pushing through the initial discomfort, they have become very comfortable and the wing tips have softened.
I never write reviews but I like these so much for commuting (great Bluetooth connection) and going to the gym that I think people should buy them, especially instead of apple AirPods. Jaybirds are still pricy, but worth it since they are actually good quality…plus they stay in your ears which is kinda the whole point or ear buds…
About ear size: My ears are oddly shaped and hence I have trouble finding a good fit. My ear canal is small while my ears are big, making me need big hooks but with small plugs. I have found size 2 to be too small, where the hooks don’t actually do anything and size 3 to be too big, where they cause me pain after about 40mins of wearing them, Hoping this will improve with time, but I did not include this in my review as like I said my ears are relatively oddly shaped.
I am going to start by saying AMAZING!! Finally Jaybird have got something right! This is far superior to their previous model! Thank you Jaybird! I was even nervous about buying these, I wish I wasn’t! They are definitely of premium quality!
My purpose for buying these was to replace my Bose Soundsport Free buds because I just found the Bose for the gym and running too weighty and bulking! So my choice came to these Jaybird Vista buds based on great reviews and YouTube reviews.
Fitment – Out the box the size 2 wings were ‘alright’ but my ears are big, so after I put the size 3 on they gave a more ‘snug’ fit and was perfect! The head shake test and they stayed in! Not only that, they look low profile and great in the ear! And they hardly weigh anything compared to my Bose. I am so happy with the fitment of these and weight! I don’t see these falling out in the gym. 1 week later using these in the gym is was fantastic! Never fallen out or moved in any of my workouts. Perfect!
Sound – Out the box the sound is ‘alright’ and flat but you MUST download the Jaybird app! Soon as I setup a profile for EQ tailored to me, away we went! The bass was thumping and the mid and high tones were greet too! Do they beat my Bose? No.. the Bose do slightly beat these in my opinion. But.. it’s sooooo close you really have to listen to tell the quality difference and is it enough to stop me getting rid of my Bose? No! Bye bye Bose! I have actually found that best EQ profile for me in the app is ‘Extended Listening’ this is a great balance of bass and vocals. I also tested Spotify and Amazon Music apps. I put both to best quality and I found that Amazon Music provided a much better quality of playback audio.
Battery – I charged these fully 1 week ago, and I have done around 8 hours listening and still haven’t had to charge the case again. Reading the manual it says the case will flash red when battery gets low. Not had this experience yet a week later. I definitely recommend the battery!
My dislikes – The click is slightly annoying when you press the bud into your head. But.. it’s alright and not a big deal. Also some talk through tech would have been great for in the gym! These buds are very good at blocking all outside noise!
Price – I got these at 160 and in my opinion they are a ‘little’ pricey for what they are! You can get the JBL and other makes around this price range that also include mics for actual noise cancelation and talk-thru technology. I don’t know if they sound better though.. but I think Jaybird should have priced this more around the 130 mark. All this being said though, I am very happy with my purchase!
So to wrap it up, my Bose have been sold and I am keeping these Jaybird Vista now as my new ear buds!
Size and weight are really good for most ear shapes I’d imagine, I found that the default ‘middle’ size were good for me in day to day use and they stayed put well. On heavy activity this size was a little small and the earhook not being fully wedged against inner ear meant that they slipped out. Went to bigger size and whilst this improved the security of the fit – and as a result the noise isolation (no active cancelling on these ones) I found that the bigger fin pushed the earphone too far onto my ear and fit became uncomfortable after about 30-40mins of wear. As such I had to return them, my workouts tend to run to 90mins plus and so ears ended up a bit too painful to be practical.
Sound quality is very good on these, in part thanks to the accompanying app that lets you modify the sound to your own tastes, and has a large number of presets so you don’t need to do much EQ fiddling to find something you like.
All in all a great choice as long as you can get a comfortable fit.
In the box included a tiny smart looking case in which the buds were housed, a short USB C charging cable (NB no charger unit supplied, although I have several myself so no issue), and two different sized silicon attachments for different shaped ears. I used the pre-fitted ones, keen to ensure the things stayed in my ears. Rarely have earbuds stayed in my ears. The fit was superb, and although I guess this will be different for everyone, the subtle fin on the buds ensures they stay in place (more later).
Really easy to set up the buds with your phone using the app, (download from Google Play or the Apple equivalent) I have an HTC phone running Android 9. After the inital set up, the Buds connect immediately when removed from the case (Assuming your Bluetooth is on) and can switch easily between devices. Done through the device itself.
It always connects to the last connected device used.
Sound is fantastic and you know immediately this is the real deal and whatsmore the App allows you to adjust the sounds through a few pre-set options or you can manually adjust for yourself and save them as additional presets.
Call quality surprisingly appears to be OK (given mics are in the buds, at you ear) according to those on the other end of the calls but I am guessing in noisy areas this might not be as good, although not tested that aspect yet. I guess this would be the issue with any buds used for phone calls though.
The buds can be set up so that the left bud can be used for skipping back a track or the right forward a track as well as holding down the right ear bud button to increase volume and the left the opposite. You can also tailor the button functions for the various “Assistants” e.g. Google.
The case is tiny and the buds are locked in place at an angle with subtle magnets, and the case itself has a magnetic closing, which all feels very premium indeed. The case is topped off with a short lanyard which could be handy for some. The case is small enough to go inside a zip pocket on running shorts. I take them everywhere now. There is an LED indicator at the front of the case, which glows white when you open the case, flashes whilst charging and stays permanently white (if plugged in ) to indicate that the buds & case are fully charged. (This doesn’t seem to take very long using a fast charger). The LED will flash red when you are running low and need to recharge. When the buds are on, the battery indicators will show in the notifications section of your phone and will bleep after every 5% of battery is consumed. Buds automatically start recharging form the case once you put them back in and there is a voice-through telling you they are connected and the battery level of the buds. Buds can be used separately to extend their battery life, although I am finding roughly 6 hours with both and I believe there is another 10 in the case, although have not scientifically measured this.
I primarily wanted these buds for every day use, however I needed a pair which would stay in my ears at the gym. I undertake rigorous exercise including High Intensity Interval Training workouts (including lots of jumping type activities — the kind of things which would see most earphones simply fallout, also very frustrating if you have boxing gloves on. These things stay in like glue, despite all the sweat, and when working the way I do this would ordinarily result in the buds slipping (first pair I have ever had which I have not needed to adjust during a session!)
One the noise cancelling front these are not noise cancelling by definition, although they do suppress outside noise considerably, to the point that it is about 85% to 90% effective, when music is playing.
I would thoroughly recommend these buds, they sound great, look pretty cool and stay in my ears!
100%Worth the money
After reading a lot of reviews on various headphones and originally considering the UnderArmour equivalent I went for Jaybird Vistas.
What I love:
The fit, they sit really snug in your ears and at the same time are comfortable. I have had them in for 4hrs straight while travelling without any discomfort
The noise isolation which means I can wear them when flying and not hear what is going on around me yet because of how they fit I do not get the effect of my own steps booming in my head as I walk
The sound quality and the fact that with the app you can adjust the sound to your own personal tastes or to the type of music you are listening to
The case that holds them, it fits in your pocket and the magnets that hold the earbuds in place are reassuringly strong
There is no lag in between the sound and the image when watching programs on a tablet or phone
What I dislike:
I have an iphone and they don’t always play nicely with my iphone when I have a phone call incoming or try to make a call
When swapping connection between more than 2 devices that can get a bit twitchy but once connected they are fine (I have been swapping the connection between my laptop, my apple watch, iphone and ipad
