The model, once built is really good and makes people double take if it’s a tiny dog or not on first glance. I bought the Retriever, in case that is relevant.
I’d originally bought it for my child, but the instructions are very complicated and there was no way they’d be able to build it so I needed to. This brings me to another problem… An adult trying to build with blocks this small requires loads of dexterity, and I don’t even have particularly large hands.
The instructions lay out large numbers of blocks in one layer and then show another layer above it with ‘locating marks’ between the 2. It is very easy to make mistakes and can take a while to notice and then ages to unpick back to the point the error was made.
If/when you finally get it finished then the result is just about worth the hours of patience and concentration it has taken though. 😉
Although it is made clear in the description it would be right to say this isn’t Lego but that said it doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of building it.
All the pieces come in three separate bags which helps to identify particular pieces during the build. As you can see in the pictures against a one pence piece, some of the pieces are really very small which makes them really fiddly to pick up and place in the build. As stated in the description it’s the start of the build that is most difficult and it really does get easier as you make progress. That said the instructions are not good at all and I seriously recommend being in a well lit room and the use of a torch. I would also recommend you build it on a tray with a rim because the bricks seem to have a mind of their own and go everywhere. In addition to this I would recommend building it on a place mat turned upside down so the cork bottom is upwards to give you a non slip base, this really helps.
I built this over five days doing two to three hours a day which worked well for me and I would be surprised if anyone could sit down and do it all at once.
The final result was a lot better than I anticipated and gave me significant satisfaction.
All in all a really good purchase and result and it is now living happily in my display cabinet.
Good luck to all who buy this and enjoy the experience.
Bought for my daughter as she loves Lego flower kits and has a Golden Labrador. She loved it and has since ordered another kit from the same company. Good quality
This is definite not for younger kids, a lot of patience is needed as the instructions aren’t easy and the pieces can be fiddle to stick together.
But once done the item looks very nice. Took me 2 days to do (whilst doing other bits around the house) but cheaper then lego and was brought to help me deal with my stress and anxiety which did helps as it clears your mind as your focus on the job at hand.
Definitely get another set once I done my Christmas lego presents
Two Lego and Collie lovers were delighted to receive this. They’re able to build complex Lego sets and both having degrees in maths and English should be able to make this. However the instructions aren’t as simple as Lego ones so expect to take a lot longer and have to help children as this takes determination to complete
Gift, still to be made. Can’t wait to see resul
I love this , very cute and was fun to have the challenge of buliding it , the only thing bad I’d have to say about it is how small the bricks are and the instructions arnt very clea
I built this little pig while I was self isolating with Covid and it was a perfect distraction. It took me around 4 days to complete which was a good time because I needed the distraction.
Quite tricky to put together, more suitable for 10+ years with good attention span.
But ….I did it !!!!
And now I’m.glad I did ..
I bought this for my husband BECAUSE of the reviews regarding poor instructions, fiddly pieces etc as I thought he would enjoy the challenge. I wasn’t wrong! He’s pretty good at this kind of thing amd completed the build in a few hours. It was a challenge but one that he enjoyed. He’ll be getting a different model for father’s day.
Second time I’ve done something like this and loved it, I myself went a little wrong as head kept falling off the body whilst building but still enjoyed it, and love how it looks
Excellent quality and well packaged. There are no written instructions as with all the brands of micro blocks I have purchased. The pictures instructions are clear, you just have to take your time & ensure you follow them correctly. Really enjoyed building it & the end result looks so good.
Good quality and the bricks fit together well. If you have built one of these kind of models before you will find it fairly easy to do. Otherwise the instructions are a challenge. Took me about 10 hours.
Bought this for my older brothers birthday as he loves to create things. This is his first build project and although the instructions were hard to follow at first, it got easier as you got used to them
I can’t believe he built this in only 4 days! He was so so chuffed with it. Definitely recommend for anyone who likes Lego as it’s cheaper than many of the official Lego sets but still really fun to build. I also had a go and I found it quit therapeutic!
I didn’t think people could leave bad reviews for something being difficult so I bought it to prove them wrong. However, I will admit the pieces are tiny, the instructions take a lot of reading before understanding and I restarted this thing 4 times. But all in all I really enjoyed it. The difficulty only made it more satisfying to finish. Really happy with it and deffo going to buy some others. I will say though make sure you have a lot of time on your hands
Very poor instructions, gave up numerous times, but finally completed it, it does take the fun out of completing it. The manufacturers should really try harder.
Bought as a present for Christmas. Really impressed with size and detail. The pieces are all single and grooved all the way round. This hurt my fingers but so worth it to see the finished product.
These would be a joy to do If they were A LOT clearer i would have given it 5 stars.
Definitely a challenge.
Great. Haven’t built it as still enjoying the instructions on the box. Poodle name is the kingdom of France. My favourite sentence of all time.
BOught for daughter (19) who loved lego until a few years ago and then felt too old to play with it any more. Nano bricks – for 14+ years are great and this cat provided her with many hours of guilty enjoyment.
Personally, I got this on my 12th birthday and it was a great gift. I have yet to finished the “lego” but it has kept me well entertained. Delivery was speedy and as promised. The instructions are a tad hard to read but this has helped enhance concentration during this building experience. I am sure that the result will look amazing.
The reason I purchased this was because the cat looks like one of my own cats, ‘Putty’. She actually stud by the box when it arrives and I had to take a picture, she didn’t look impressed and I’m she will be even more unimpressed when she sees the finished product!!! My other cat ‘Fudge’ was very keen and happy to pose by the box but I think even she knew she had the wrong fur!
I had initial impressions that this would be similar to Lego and could get my ten year old son involved as he’s a dedicated Lego Minecraft builder. Well, forget it, if you’re thinking of buying this for a child it isn’t a good idea. When I opened the box and was faced with over 4000 tiny pieces my son just said ‘forget that’, and walked off.
So this is down to me to build, over time, I’ve already spent hours and just seems to take forever to build up. The instructions don’t make building this easy at all, I wished they would’ve spent some time in providing a more detailed, clear set of instructions, just like Lego do.
The cat is built up in layers, layer after layer, with the odd mistake made here and there, that’s why I only spend a small amount of time on this, it can be very frustrating, getting there though.
As soon as it’s finished I will submit the photos, I will try and get my cat to sit next to it.
Recommended.
Bought as a present for an avid fan of huskies and lego! Kept him occupied for a good day through lockdown. Thought that the final build would be somewhat larger (may have to get a rescue next time instead)
Bought as a gift for my husband. He used to have a pet corgi so has a soft spot for them. It took a few hours to assemble but is a great little model.
Purchased as a gift for my daughter who is younger than the reccomend age, this lego is smaller than the older generation branded Lego but is lovely all the same. Will make a nice addition to my daughters bedroom once I’ve finished building it. Certainly dont but for under the age recommendation unless you’re happy to build it yourself.
It makes you appreciate Lego – the instructions are complex, and you have hold bricks in thin air before attaching the next layer at times. They really are tricky to follow. Lots of taking it apart and starting the section again. Luckily the tool provided is effective to help do this.
That said, once you are up and running things get a bit easier!
We also found several mistakes in the instructions, (numbers of bricks required etc) and didn’t have the right number at the end for the final builds, but were able to steal other pieces to make it sort of work. Also one of the bigger pieces isn’t moulded correctly so won’t join at all. And there wasn’t a spare.
But… we do have a lovely golden retriever model at the end of it, and as my son is a dog lover we are happy (but exhausted and eyes aching). We would buy it again I think when we have recharged our energy levels and patience if they do a chocolate Labrador… Hint hint.
