Great touch screen, resolutions not as good as my previous Lenovo ideapad i3 but does the job for YouTube / web browsing. Runs very quick especially boot up. Would recommend if around 200 ish.
Worth the money. Perfect student laptop. Looks premium, good display, type c charger and audio. Touch is smooth and processor is decent enough for simple applications.
Nice light chromebook, touch screen is great. Battery low warning only comes on when battery is at 2%, would like a bit more of a warning! Works great for me otherwise, use it when I go to the office once a week and connect back to work pc. My daughter has used it for Disney and Netflix and says pictures are great.
This chrome book is fab the touchscreen add that extra special touch. This was bought for my daughter for her birthday, was a big hit. The battery life is excellent and screen quality is brill.
A replacement for a full laptop, now I realised I didn’t need, spot o
Quite expensive for a Chromebook but benefits from a decent processor and extra memory. Handles multiple tabs with ease with the only downside being the short battery life. I estimate about 5 – 6 hours battery life when used intensively. Screen, keys and touchpad up to the usual Lenovo quality. Sound quality is good though not that loud – I use Bluetooth headphones which are better.
For the price this is excellent, quick and easy to use for browsing the web and watching video, touch screen is very good
Bought this to replace my ageing chromebook which had an 11″ screen – the bigger size is far easier on the eye. Not too sure about the battry life yet hence the 3 star rating. I would recommended this Chromebook.
This is a great Chromebook. Not the best battery life and touch screen a little iffy but I’m not too bothered about that. It’s quick and great if you use it for watching tv / YouTube, office tasks and the internet. Good quality screen too. Boots up super quick. I’ve tried a few games and they seem to run ok too. Think the pentium gold 7505 chip is much better than some in other chromebooks. Would recommend.
Such an amazing notebook well worth the money exactly what my daughter needed for school
After looking at a number of different devices, the Lenovo idea pad 5, fitted my requirements.
Pros
Great build quality
Good battery life
Nice touch screen
Cons
The keyboard physical touch sensitivety can be inconsistent when typing.
If you are experiencing fast energy drain with this lapyop, fear not. There is a free Core Parking utility that will stop cores when the laptop doesn’t need them. Search online, download and save battery life! I hope this helps.
I wanted a laptop but not too big and bulky and something that can easily link with my eco system. And oh my is it easy to just work with Google account. I would highly recommend for anyone who wants something light for both studying and recreational
The 4 stars are for the Lenovo ideaPad 5 which for me is beautifully made piece of hardware. The touch screen is very responsive and bright and the construction is solid which I like. However the Chrome OS is another matter. I was under the illusion that my Pixel 6 pro would work seamlessly with the Chrome OS, it doesn’t. Most of the apps that I use on my phone are either unavailable or only works with the same phone screen size on the Chrome system. There is what they call extension software which is either rubbish or they expect you to pay a monthly subscription to edit a couple of photos a month which even then the photos have to be down loaded to your download folder to then be uploaded again to be edited online which is only available when your connected to the internet. Very disappointed with the operating system but would certainly buy a Lenovo again but with a MS operating system if there is one. More research next time.
CPU is plenty powerful and the machine runs really well. The keyboard is lovely, the touchpad is OK. Battery life is pretty good, not staggeringly good but good enough in practice. Case feels really solid and looks nice. Touchscreen is responsive, though I’m still not really convinced of the utility of a laptop touchscreen.
The fans are the only issue I really notice with it. They do come on most of the time and are noticeable, as well are contributing to battery life not quite being where it could be. This is more an issue with the power requirements of x86_64 chips than anything else though.
Linux support works well too. VSCode building a Rust project was comparable to another machine I have running an i3 from a couple of generations ago. Not bad at all.
Price/performance is excellent.
My first step into the world of chromebooks, its a lightweight, fast laptop.
Screen is OK, would like it to be a bit brighter.
Keyboard is good, track pad is responsive and a good size.
I find myself using the touch screen a lot more than I thought I would.
Overall, really pleased with the device, just need to get used to ChromeOS which is pretty easy to use and surprisingly powerful / flexible.
It said the keyboard had backlight, which it doesn’t, the audio sometimes fails and you need to restart it, battery life expected to be better.
