I’m using this keyboard as an ordinary word processing keyboard. I like the degree of resistance the keys offer. I went for brown keys which offer the perfect resistance level for my liking. This feature is contributing to fewer typos. The keyboard is expensive but it is an everyday tool for me and was worth the money in my case. Quality is superb.
I bought the G502 and G513 as a deal and couldnt be happier. Matched with the logitech app i can have many different layouts for many different games that will automatically change when loading them up. Coulours on both are clear and vibrant and will stand up for years to come. With lots of different colour combinations available. 10/10 worth the mid pricing.
The keyboard is nice and quality is good but it’s disappointing that non of the media controls can be seen with LED and secondary symbols are non LED too.
The brown key switches you can barely feel any tactility but I guess I just overestimated brown switches, but I’m glad they are not very loud as the blue tactile and noisy switches.
You do have a lot of customisability with the software and apparently you can program ur own lighting but it’s not as smooth of experience as it is with Razer I don’t like the specific games profiles and even when I have the feature turned off in settings it still changes profiles in games like CS go and I can’t use my profile unless I change it manually in settings.
When I did use in game profile for battlefield one I was impressed that the lights on keyboard change depending on situation in game for example when picking up a weapon the colour of the key to pick weapon up changes I guess that’s also something you can program yourself.
Such a beautiful keyboard, feels nice to touch and awesome quality material, the hand rest feels nice and highly recommended for high quality gaming experience, the only downside is no volume & music control, other than that , beautiful keyboard.
Solid keyboard, has a usb pass through perfect for my mouse or headphones. Customisation options are very easy as well.
Overall a really good keyboard , with an excellent finish for any gaming enthusiast wanting to purchase a keyboard .
Bought this to replace my very cheap Zalman membrane keyboard and the difference is like going from night to day, it is very heavy and solid so it doesn’t slide around when you are using it, same for the palm-rest which is well padded with high density memory foam and feels very comfortable. The GX brown tactile keys feel very responsive and I find the “click” sound to be quite satisfying and much quieter than I expected, on Discord I hear other gamers with much louder keys, some to the point of being really annoying. Overall it feels and looks like a quality product and the brushed aluminium face really sets the look off.
If RGB is your thing then the software when I played around with it should cater for all your needs, it’s not mine and I have all my RGB set to blue. Also the RGB is not as bright as found on some other keyboards but I prefer this more subdued lighting.
You should also be aware that this is the UK layout and not the US layout as shown in some of the images. The main differences are the enter key is narrower and taller replacing the backslash key above it which is relocated between the Z key and the smaller Shift key. Some of the symbol keys are in different places. The symbols on the top number row appear below the numbers and are not illuminated as they are in the US version and the media keys in front on the function key row are not lit either. A big mistake on Logitech’s part I feel, especially for software designers as these are the keys that are most used for programming. Also it doesn’t have the full range of media keys that my Zalman had dedicated keys for but as I never bothered using those this wasn’t a problem for me.
Overall I am very happy that I purchased this keyboard, especially at this price point. I bought this on sale for 109 and a few days later they were selling for 74.99 and Amazon when contacted refunded the difference, that made it 1/2 the price of buying from Logitech directly so that was an added bonus. There are later models available with more features but I went with this model simply for it’s looks and it does not disappoint.
And lastly, if and when you purchase this keyboard you may find yourself wondering what that very strange threaded hole found centre rear on this keyboard is actually for!!! It looks like a tripod mount housing which will fit in there BUT WHY? It won’t take any pictures. Actually this screw hole is vestigial. It was baked into the chassis design in anticipation of a feature that never materialized. It was going to be used for developer kits for the Logitech Bridge SDK. The idea was that using the HTC Vive Tracker, you could have a physical Logitech keyboard that gets reproduced virtually inside a VR environment, a project that has since been shelved or cancelled but the screw hole can still be found on some models from Logitech.
G513 Carbon is an excellent keyboard. The brown switches give a pleasant click but don’t require much pressure to activate. It’s not silent but it’s quiet. It also comes with some replacement WASD keys for the hardcore gamers who might wear them out, which is a nice touch. The whole thing, including the wrist rest, has a pleasing weight and doesn’t slip around on the desktop. You need to download the Logitech G Hub to program in the RGB.
Since I use this for both gaming and working from home I needed ten-keys – and originally had a G512 SE which broke so replaced it with this. Love the layout of both, it’s compact /minimalist as it’s possible to be while also having those extra buttons. Just as delighted with it as I was with the 512, and the wrist rest is a decent addition which is surprisingly good quality and very comfortable. A wireless version of this exact keyboard would be the bee’s knees, but sadly the one on offer is lower profile.
I ruined my old Corsair keyboard with literally a drop of soda… 200 down the drain so I thought I’d try out this Logitech keyboard instead.
Really like the design, the keys are great quality and the keycaps feel amazing to type with. I’m now torn between Corsair and Logitech that I might need to try out some other mice or even a headset.
If Im to think of something I dislike it’s be there’s no dedicated media keys like a volume sliders or pause and play buttons. They’re function keys but even that isn’t a huge problem
obody seems to talk about the switches but browns arent really tactile, they are more like a heavy red but i havent tried the reds from logitech either, coming from reds though they are easy to adjust to.
eplaced my worn out G15 keyboard with this, i did really want another with a small LCD screen as the G15 had and was surprised at the lack of options from any manufacturer.
So after much deliberation i went for this one, it is made to a very high quality, aluminum facia, mechanical keyboard, that are initially a little noisy and takes a few weeeks for the keys to soften slightly but they do stay a tad noisy, it doesnt really bother me as they are precise, feel solid actuation is well before full press is made.
RGB options endless, it sets its self up for games you play lighting up percific keys you need when stood infront of senarios in game!
I love it
My only gripe would be that secondary key markings dont light up, ie these @:~?><}{+_)(*&^%$"! If you can get it for the price i paid you wont be disapointed 😀
I changed to this after having a Roccat Titan Aimo 120 which started falling apart less than 6 months after I got it and was unusable after 18 months. The keys are not as light and responsive by comparison and the lights aren’t quite as bright. But I love that the “white” colour makes it look like just a normal keyboard with key etchings that are clear even in the dark and that it can be set to make a colour burst when you press each key. This makes it almost like “stealth” RGB.
The unit is a full keyboard without useless macro keys and is as compact as a full keyboard can be for that reason. Similarly, there are no media controls. It’s a keyboard. It is very heavy for such a small board given that the frame is solid aluminium that this gives a reassuring feel of quality.
The padded wrist rest is far superior to all the hard plastic magnetic ones most other manufacturers supply. It does not connect to the keyboard at all but rather has non slip discs underneath. So it just sits there and does its job very well.
I’ve given 4 stars in some areas simply because I’d have been spoiled by the far more expensive Roccat should it have continued to work. But this board does seem a lot more robust even though only time can prove that. Despite the missing star, and given the difference in price, I would tentatively suggest this keyboard is far superior to most that cost a lot more, including the Titan, and right now it does what I expected and does it well enough.
Another high quality product from a well trusted brand Logitech. You would not go wrong with this keyboard, never had any software glitches and always registers the input quite well. The only downside is it doesn’t have dedicated volume roller or keys which I really miss, but its not a deal breaker.
I love this so much, I bought a second one.
Worth noting; I couldn’t use my mouse plugged into the back of the older model. The USB pass through works fine on the newer model. Useful!
Great keyboard, only downside is the numbers are illuminated instead of the symbols. Would have been better the other way around. Also the packaging was badly damaged by Amazon as it was shipped without an outer box.
My son is absolutely delighted by this keyboard. Clearly if you just want a keyboard for regular use this is not for you, and you can get much cheaper ones. But if you are a gamer and want to be able to program different light effects on you keyboard then this may be the one for you.
Great for typing, gaming and love the ‘click’. Only problem is that the secondary key symbols do not light up. The %, @ etc you cannot see if it is a dark room. That is a huge oversight. Supposedly they are lite up in other switch types but you can’t get them here in the U.K.
Really happy with this keyboard, I had a Corsair before with linear switches which I did not get on with. Picked this up on Black Friday and I couldn’t be happier. Extremely high quality feel and an understated design. Keys are quite loud but that’s to be expected with a mechanical keyboard. Highly recommend this keyboard. I play mainly FPS such as battlefield.
Don’t know why in the pictures it’s perfectly normal, but the shift button is alot smaller than normal and has a slash next to the z. Not that big of a problem you get used to i
A very high quality feeling keyboard, with a sleek aesthetic and minimal design. The included wrist rest is comfortable. The keyboard comes with 12 extra key caps with bigger ‘grooves’ to replace the most common keys used for gaming (1-5, QWERASD), if that’s your thing, but I find the standard ones perfectly fine.
The RGB software seems very versatile and allows for a lot of customisation. The keyboard includes an additional USB 2 port on the back, which some people complain about but is absolutely fine for connecting many peripherals such as a wireless mouse dongle like I have. If you don’t want to waste a USB 3 port on your case, don’t connect the passthrough.
I have brown switches and they feel good, though I have no experience of any others as this is my first mechanical keyboard. Also, beware that typing on it is quite loud, but this is going to be the case with all mechanical keyboards. It doesn’t bother me but might bother other people you’re sharing the room with.
