The Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Touch TV Keyboard features easy plug-and-play setup, a compact design with an integrated, smooth, responsive touchpad for convenient couch use, and a good range that ensures reliable connectivity across the room.
This keyboard is just the correct size for me to use with my Mac Mini. The past few days I’ve sat at a distance of 8 feet on my sofa with no issues. A good build quality, no ghosting with the mouse response. A highly recommended all in one SOLUTION.
Does exactly what you need it to do. Plug usb dongle in and off you go. Connectivity has never been an issue and never have it stop working to no reason. Great value for money and perfect for my needs
Great keyboard for me. Works well and at a distance of a few metres too (depending on which couch I’m sitting on). This is my second one. First one worked well for over 2 years and then stopped working from being dropped too often. Then I bought an Artek keyboard for a change and it’s keys only worked intermittently which was pointless so I immediately bought this model and after 2 weeks no issues at all.
Needed a keyboard for the livingroom pc/entertainment system and it works great, had a tiny keyboard with a trackpad on before this but god it was awful and irritating, the mouse would jitter all over the place, but this one has no issues and is nice to use. Only thing I’d change is the on/off switch is a bit confusing to look at as it’s hard to tell if you have it in the on or off position. But either way I think it goes into standby anyway so not that big of a deal
It works so well and efficiently that when a couple of years later it stops working, you may have forgotten that it uses batteries.
(The technical details here seems to say two AAA, but our four-year-old version has two AA. The battery compartment can also store the USB receiver.)
Originally purchased as a spare keyboard and trackpad for a Raspberry Pi but also realised it’s a great option for use on the SteamDeck in desktop mode.
Pros:
– Great battery life
– Easily replaceable AA batteries.
– Integrated trackpad
– Compact
– Extremely low input delay
– No concerns about receiver coverage
Cons:
– Doesn’t feel premium in any way, the compact nature of the keyboard means it has more flex than one would like.
– No Bluetooth option
Overall a fantastic little HTPC keyboard. Whilst I see the lack of Bluetooth and need for a secondary receiver as a negative, this by far is made up for by just how good this keyboard is.
The integrated trackpad means no mouse is needed and the keyboard itself doesn’t feel too spongy as you would expect from cheaper keyboards.
Unfortunately when I got thus keyboard one of the mouse buttons wasn’t working properly.
I contacted Logitech and they offered some help but it made no difference and they then replaced it with a new one (it was too later to return it to Amazon)
New one arrived and is great and Logitech Customer Support was really good.
4 starts even though it had to be replaced because it’s is actually a goof keyboard.
Ordered it to use with our smart TV and it has been absolutely amazing. So easy to use. Just plug in the USB and that’s it. I initially thought that it was Bluetooth enabled but it was my mistake for not reading the details properly however, still not a deal breaker. The touchpad is very responsive. Keys are big enough. Really happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend.
I designer and build electronic gizmo’s (yes I am a maker freak) and I use a lot of Raspberry Pi boards and the Raspberry Pi environment to programme and make my gizmo’s.
What gets me annoyed when working with the hardware and software at the same time, is the clutter of wires for keyboard and mouse that criss cross my work bench when developing said gizmo’s.
The Logitech K400 Plus works seamlessly with my Raspberry Pi 4 and Bookworm OS just plug the little usb radio receiver dongle in the RPi’s USB port and immediately you have a very nice keyboard and track pad to control the mouse pointer on the screen.
For me the track pad on the keyboard is just right and the keypad is just what I like the feel of. In fact it’s almost as good as my MacBook Air laptop to use. The only downside I can see is that I need more of the receiver dongles so that I do not have to move it to another test bed each time.
Good keyboard only lacking a numeric keypad, but given the touchpad takes up the space that the numbers would be it’s probably a good compromise.
Nice action on the keys, good to type on whilst sitting on a settee “watching TV” controlling HTPC.
Very good design to have a second left mouse button at the top left of the keyboard so you can mouse with the right hand (thumb) whilst clicking with the left hand and holding the keyboard.
Fairly light considering the amount of plastic.
Would like slightly bigger cursor keys as these are a bit of a pain to navigate, especially in semi-darkness!!
Overall a good purchase and does the job nicely.
Bought this as a replacement to a different keyboard which had trouble connecting even a few metres.
Happily no such problems with this keyboard – I even took it into another room just to test and it was still picking up perfectly well.
I do feel it’s a bit on the small side to other wireless keyboards, it’s a bit like a laptop keyboard, so I’m finding myself mistyping things by pmr letter occasionally but time will sort that.
Neat little left click shortcut button on the top left kinda useful, but otherwise not many frills – just solid little keyboard.
EDIT UPDATE: I’ve recently bought a second of these for a computer in another room and happy to say they do not conflict with eachother, I was a bit worried one keyboard would bind to both receivers but not the case.
A negative though, I’d drop it to 4* or lower if only there were actually viable competitor keyboards – you CANNOT switch the function keys to actually operate as function keys by-default, unless you install their software meaning 99% of my usage requires me to claw my hand to hold the FN key everytime I want to ctrl+f5 to refresh or f2 to rename… so forth. Pretty terrible for an otherwise really good keyboard. Could be a dealbreaker for some.
Amazingly I’ve never changed the batteries in this and its 3 years old at least by now. Yet this board gets used every single day!
I use it with my PC, Raspberry Pi boards, laptops and usually works right away. Hardy, it’s a geeky thing to do but I like a travel keyboard, this is stiff yet light… can handle some basic gaming or at least an extra control for beat them ups with friends on the go for the lols.
Track pad has great multifinger functionality, though not a big fan of the function buttons having preset functions other than the default… always having to hold FN to press F1-F(whatever) and similar for print screen takes some getting used to. There’s likely a settings menu that I’ve accidently stumbled in to a few times that I could change this in, but never had the real need to try.
Range is adequate, multiple wireless devices near dongle can effect connection but not to a point where its unusable.
When not traveling this is sat on my couch to control the PC connected to a TV as my main source of media (seriously who needs smart tvs when we have pcs)
For the price this is an amazing keyboard.
I wanted a solution to using my PC in the bedroom whilst lazing around in bed without the need for wires. This didn’t disappoint.
Setting it up was easy (Windows 10). It’s basically just plug and play.
The keyboard has good sized keys. They’re flat and don’t sound clunky or cheap when pressed.
The touch pad is accurate and responsive (it’s basically just like a laptops, as one would expect) but you do have the same annoyances that you would have using a laptops touch pad as well.
Would’ve given it 5 stars had it had LED lighting around the keys and an on/off switch. It’s annoying when you’re watching a movie and you accidentally touch a key, causing the movie to pause or a windows shortcut to open.
It’ll do me for now until such a keyboard from a reputable brand is produced.
great for the use case I have it for which is a living room pc, obviously is a light cheapish plastic keyboard so its nothing special but it does the job and I haven’t had any issues like loss over wireless which is what you’d expect from a good peripheral manufacturer.
i’ve not scored it on gaming like amazon suggests because this is not the intended use case
I’ve been using this keyboard for a few years now on the daily basis, I have not replaced the batteries yet -) it’s pretty good if you need to hold the keyboard in your hands or move around or use it for multiple devices. We fix computers on the daily basis at iTFT Computers UK and this is what we use for customers PC and Laptops! Highly recommended. By the way it was below 20 on sale when I bought it…
I use mine with my PC for work. Silent, quality build, small, light, neat and tidy.
My only gripe? make it Bluetooth and rechargeable please Logitech!
And maybe a version with back-lit keys
But you will not be disappointed if you buy this
Build quality feels solid, not particularly premium but sturdy enough. The keys are typical membrane keys and are of decent feel, on par with other Logitech keyboards and large enough that typing on them doesn’t feel cumbersome. I can type pretty well on it. Where I feel like this accessory is a bit of a let-down is in the quality of the trackpad. The touch area is relatively small, which wouldn’t be an issue if the touchpad was smooth and responsive with Windows Precision drivers. Unfortunately, that is not the case here. The surface is a smooth plastic that feels fine to glide your finger on, but occasionally the cursor will be a bit jumpy. It feels like the sensitivity needs some tweaking. Overall though, it’s more than useable for couch web browsing and controlling your video player. If you intend to use it for couch gaming purposes, I’d look for something better (or just use a wireless keyboard/mouse and a lap desk setup).
This version comes with only a USB dongle to connect to any PC or supported device. The connection has been solid from 2m away, which is the distance between my TV and the couch. The slightly pricier version that comes with Bluetooth as a connection option would probably be more convenient and could then be used to connect to your phone or tablet, but for my use case the dongle was no problem.
This is a really good solution for a living room PC. I don’t use it for a lot of typing, more more work. I’ve seen these used in Dyno places too, so they must be reliable long term (the one I saw was super grubby and well used).
For what you pay, it’s really well made. I was impressed that windows picked it up when installing, no drivers or firmware.
Purchased this keyboard to use with my Nvidia Shield TV Pro and it works a treat! Feels well made, easy to connect, trackpad and keyboard are a breeze to use. Well worth the money.
Okay, I’ll be honest, I got this as an Xmas present for somebody else. He turned out not to need it as he prefers the older model of this, and has two spares because of that. However, I can make use of this, the touchpad is a very useful feature, it’s lightweight too. Oddly enough the USB dongle will not fit into the storage space for it next to the battery compartment, in such a way that the battery cover can be closed. So you have to look after the dongle and not lose it, I do that by taping it to the keyboard. It is supplied with one set of batteries. Build quality is OK like most Logitech peripherals, I use their trackballs. The big plus point is the range it works at.
This little keyboard is more than I expected. Only downfall is the sticky keys but not a deal breaker. Very responsive, good size, touchpad probably needs adjusting as it is probably too responsive and you feel like chasing the cursor on the screen I bought 3 months ago and the batteries are still going even though I never turn it off. It is a straight forward plug and go so no need to be tech to use it. Definitely recommend.
Great little space saver wireless usb keyboard. Connects via an included dongle and works as both keyboard and mouse. The trackpad mouse is serviceable but not the best. Its a shame you can’t change the sensitivity of the trackpad as its a little too responsive. There are a few odd button choices (eg. the right click button that sits above the trackpad when there is a perfectly fine right click button on the bottom right of the pad itself). It does what it needs to though. Glad I got it on offer, as I wouldn’t pay the usual 40+ rrp.
+ Easy to connect
+ Good build quality
+ Nice trackpad
+ Compartment to hold USB receiver
– Batteries 🙁
– Occasionally the PC doesn’t detect input.
Can’t believe modern devices still use batteries, especially being a big brand like Logitech. Fortunately the device doesn’t seem to drain the batteries, the box quoted something like months of battery life, but I turn the keyboard off at every chance to preserve the battery life.
The trackpad works great but the mouse buttons are a little loud – no biggy though.
The USB receiver make connectivity incredibly easy, it’s literally as simple as plug in and turn on the keyboard. The battery compartment also doubles as a holder for the USB receiver which makes for great portability.
Sometimes the PC doesn’t detect the input from the keyboard/trackpoint and it usually seems to be either an issue with Line of Sight or there is too many obstacles in between, I’m not sure but it’s not too common.
Tl;Dr: Perfect for getting cosy in bed, just wish it didn’t use batteries.
This item does its job quite well.
The on/off switcher is really nice to use. It connects without problem as soon as it’s switched on, which is impressive. The keys along the top have android functions such as back and home, which are crucial when using with android TV or a fire TV stick. The trackpad is totally fine.
I do find the action of the keys a bit long, probably because I’m used to a laptop type keyboard; it’s also probably something to do with the fact that I’m using it not on a hard surface (and it’s not very weighty itself). This leads to my main criticism which is that it just feels a bit cheap. Also, the arrow keys (especially up and down) are smaller than I’d like.
Overall, good value. But I’d be interested to compare it, for usability and quality, to the metal-framed competing products with keyboard-style keys on this website which are only a few pounds more (but are off-brand).
Cordless keyboards and mice originally used to be a royal pain – always needing fresh batteries or recharging, usually when finishing something urgent! Funny battery types in them, often enough to annoy. Unreliable, too.
But not this one! Battery life is good, and it works as reliably as a corded keyboard. It is fine for web surfing as well as long typing sessions.
The two original vanilla ‘GP brand’ AA cells are still showing as good on my tester after six weeks – which included all the Christmas eMails and ordering, thank-yous and so on….
The keyboard itself feels good; not the absolute bestest ever, but good for typing at my own top speed of about 35 wpm. I like it!
There are not really enough keys, so one needs to do (eg) ‘function-backspace’ in order to do a ‘PrintScreen’, and the tiny grey-on-grey ‘Function’ key icons are close to illegible, even with my new vari-focal glasses. They are the sort of icons whose intention is only clear _after_ you look it up! The sort of Icons that resemble (in function) the legal font “Enron Beelzebub” often used for the obfuscated fine print on contracts.
The track pad is indeed OK. I get on fine with track pads – people who do not (like my wife) will (of course) hate it. Just saying…
I do the odd bit of CAD editing for the 3D printer on this machine, and it’s fine for that. Not as precise as our vintage trackball, but that would not be expected of a vanilla track pad.
My pet peeve is the on-off switch, which is sensibly arranged to not be easily operated accidentally, but it is so tiny that only my little fingernail gets close to fitting it. But I do use it (pretty) religiously, turning off at night, or when we go out.
If you can handle a track pad, this is an OK keyboard/track pad combo, a tad expensive, but it seems to be good quality. Recommended – but do read the edit below!
EDIT – JAN 2023
OK, it got wet (a burst pipe) – so did the PC and the screen. But after long hairdryer and fan-heater sessions, all three are now working again. I confess to buying another keyboard – the Rii K22, which is rechargeable, turns out it types better for me, has a distinctly better track-pad and is cheaper! The K400 is OK, but the Rii K22 does suit me better.
Did you know that this K400+ has a little slot in the battery lid which takes a USB dongle?
No, I didn’t know that, either. Sadly, it seems as though the dongle is bigger than it was back in the early days, since the battery lid will not fit back on if the USB dongle is in the slot!
D’oh!
The Rii K22 has a neat slot for the dongle that does fit! Just saying . . .
I higly recommend this product. I’ve been using it for a year and the experiece is still like new. I find both keyboard and trackpad excellent. Excellent build quality without any hardware issues. For the price, it’s fighting far above its wight class. I’ve certainly paid more for much, much worse!
Pros –
– The keyboard is fantastic. The resistance and feddback of the keys is extremely nice to type with and I actually prefer it over a couple of my mechnical keyboards. Again the value is huge here.
– The trackpad is good for a trackpad, and as you’d expect reacts to all double click select/resizing detections built in.
– To add to the track pack, while it can be abit of a strange feeling using the trackpad and left clicking/tapping, there’s a key above the escape which is another option for left click. Once I stated using this it’s amazing how handy it is to simply track with the right hand and left click with the left, it feels much more “natural”. This key is different though and resenbles a mouse button with more of a “click”, it’s a nice touch.
= While it has the standard function key setup, the designated voume +/- and mute buttons above the trackpad are perfect for my media centre, or listening to music. Even these keys feel pleasent.
– After 1 year the product is like new, there’s absolutely no sticking keys, no connnection losses, no repeating keys, no replaced battery (I’ve never turned it “off” either), the letters are all still sharp, the trackpad like new. I’ve used it a decent amount in this time and am very impressed.
– It looks great. The shade of grey is nice and the yellow acents really set it off.
– The profile is this, but not too thin. It’s a perfect depth to allow for the high quality keyboard.
– Great build quality. It feels a year later like it did on day 1. It feels well designed and put togethr.
Cons –
– The standard F1-F12 need to use the function keys. The function key writing is in a dull blue, which set again the grey of the keyboard can be hard to see in many light setups. I’m slightly torn here as it means I need to us e alt+fn+F4, but outside of the the automatic use of the designated functions keys is great. THere’s probably a way to swap this mapping but it’s a non issue after using the new setup a couple of times.
– That’s it, I was really clutching at straws on this one which is rare…
I just wish they had the same keyboard without the trackpad for my desktop setups!
This review has been typed on my Logitech K400+ 😉
Just Received mine for use with an iMac …. First off it does work on an iMAC!!! This was a relief…
As it is a windows keyboard there is no ‘command button’ … the command button is in fact the Windows Key …. It works really well … so like if you want to take a screenshot you would press ‘Windows Key+Shift+4’ …. works really well …Was a bonus to see that it actually came with batteries installed!
The mouse track pad actually works fine one this too … it is fast and you can use gestures which I was surprised with…. two fingers swipe up and down will scroll page … saying that I would not get rid of my mouse but saying this I would use the two finger scroll on the track pad than using the scroll wheel on my mouse. … i think this will win …
Only downside I think is IMO the keys are too close together so I am currently finding it a bit difficult to type. Sometimes I press two letters instead of one… over time I think this will be overcome but just a small niggle. Also there are not those two tab things at the bottom top of the keyboard that you can open so it props the keyboard up … unsure their technical name of these maybe ‘tabs’
Overall this is not a bad keyboard … if only its dimensions were a tad bit larger would be nice…. for this price though you can’t beat it … I will be ordering another one for the TV as browsing the likes of Youtube and Netflix etc will be a lot easier with this on a tv than using a standard remote and the trackpad really works rather well ….
Recommendation Rating: 9/10 – for me personally the keys are a tad too small and I like the tab things on keyboards which this does not have but I am very impressed with this. Will buy another one for sure at these prices
Firstly, if you are looking for a keyboard for your desk or for gaming, then look somewhere else. This is certainly not the keyboard for you. This keyboard is designed to be used in front of a TV for your media PC or on your lap in bed and for that, it is pretty damn good.
Let’s start with the price, I received mine for just under 30 which seems like quite a lot for a small plastic keyboard but what this keyboard does right more than justifies the price. Also, if you’re like me just looking at getting into the media PC ‘game’ and wanting a keyboard for that, then this is just perfect. It’s cheaper than a lot of others out there and just does the job with zero hassle.
As I say, the keyboard is plastic but not in a horrible cheap way. It’s plastic but done well with nice light construction but very little bend considering. It has a matt grey finish with those subtle yellow accents which actually help in navigating where that mouse button is in the dark and boy will you be using that little button!
That yellow mouse button might be the best thing about this keyboard. I use my right-hand thumb on the trackpad and my left-hand thumb to hit that mouse button and took to this way of navigating like a duck to water. It’s a real pleasure to use and as it is Logitech, everything is responsive with perfect tactile feedback on the trackpad itself. The mouse moves exactly where I want it to which doesn’t sound like much but as a person who loves buying inexpensive mice, this is so easy to get wrong.
The actual keys are where this keyboard falls short. I thought that maybe I just wasn’t used to its size initially but after months of using it, I still tend to hit 2 keys at the same time and miss hit keys very regularly. This isn’t a massive deal breaker for me as I only really use the keyboard to search a word or a few words at a time but if you are looking at writing essays with this, it’s going to pretty difficult. Saying that, you might get used to it if you’re writing a heck of a lot. The key feedback is also similar to a laptop keyboard. Not as bad as some cheap laptops but certainly nothing overly special. This is to be expected though as it is rather small for a reason but I would have preferred the keyboard to be slightly wider if it meant the keys had a small amount of separation.
I also feel as though the trackpad could be a little bigger but that is just maybe a thought for the next revision of this. Otherwise a solid media PC Keyboard. You won’t be disappointed.
