I’ve had 4 of these over the years. Logitech support was good enough to replace one that died pretty quickly. It’s always been the A key and the spacebar that dies on the last 3, hope this one lasts more than a year or so.
Sunken soft keys are not as nice as mechanical sounding keys mouse was a little to sensitive when using scroll wheel.
I really like the keyboard – for me it’s a great shape and comfortable to type on. The thing that bugs me most is that the letters rub off under what is, I guess, pretty heavy use . The left side Ctrl and Shift lettering was rubbed off within a few months. I’d expect the lettering to last as long as the keyboard.
I didn’t like the shape of the mouse, but then I didn’t buy this for the mouse so can’t really complain about that.
Keyboard is great, just mouse wheel is either broke or badly designed as it is spinning to far each time there is no resistance on it as on my las Logitech Set had..
I have had Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combos for the last 20 years or so, both at work and at home. Old computer died, new computer incompatible with old keyboard/mouse (the green round plug for the mouse went with the ark apparently). The Lenovo keyboard was OK (but gets dirty incredibly quickly), but the mouse was an unmitigated disaster. Worse than useless.
I read the reviews and want to add my grain of salt. To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln you can’t please all the people all of the time. But I do not at all understand most of negative comments.
1) ordered a UK keyboard, got a UK keyboard with the ” above the 2 etc.
2) the mouse is just so – feel, weight, smoothness across desk, precision. Back to where I belong with a pointer that seamlessly goes smoothly exactly where I want, when I want
3) the keyboard is comfortable and feels “right”, but it is true that it is not as quiet as the Lenovo one was
If you are used to Logitech keyboards you’ve got all the buttons you want and need, especially if you like listening to music while you work.
Nice touche: the buttons for the calculator and to eject the CD (or DVD)
My only very small beef: I personally prefer the bigger (double height – i.e. same height as the carriage return button) delete buttons on some keyboards to the square single height size this keyboard has.
I am a very happy bunny and would not hesitate to recommend this product, for which I paid full whack, my money. And I am not a BOT from Mount St Sinister.
Nice kit. Tiny niggles.
-The keys are slightly bouncy which might limit my typing speed a little. Maybe I’m a traditionalist who likes more key ‘click’.
-Mouse laser emitter is quite close to the desk, so don’t try to use your trousers as a mouse pad, or you may get lint on the laser.
-Available downloads from logitech: a firmware updater (used no problem); and ‘Setpoint’ software for customising mouse and keyboard buttons. This latter was 80 MB, and what with another reviewer saying the customisations don’t work anyway, I left this download alone.
Summary: decent set, high quality hardware that works out of the box.
I have worn one of these keyboards out and needed to replace it. My first choice was a direct replacement but I am finding I am having trouble with the keys. With my previous version, the keys were quite relaxed, but this one requires me to be more precise. With my previous keyboard I could just type away, but with this one, I have to consider and check every word. I guess that I will get used to it, but having a keyboard that looks the same but does not operate the same can be a little frustrating. Maybe I should have bought a different keyboard and I would have just got on with it.
I work as a programmer so use my keyboard every day.
Got this to replace a Logitech keyboard that I’ve used for years (it was so old it had a PS2 connector) that had just given up the ghost.
The keyboard is comfortable and responsive, easy to set up – plug and play within 30 seconds of coming out of the box.
My one minor gripe (and it is minor) I wish the mouse was a bit bigger – I have quite large hands and hate small mice. This one is not small but it’s just a wee bit smaller than I would prefer.
One gripe when I got it is the spacebar. I am a touch typist and the spacebar was regularly not registering the tap I gave it with my thumb to the point I was considering returning the keyboard however a google returned a site where someone else had the same problem and a cure (google “logitech illuminated keyboard spacebar problem fix” and the Flikr entry shows a pic). If you pop the spacebar off and put a bit of card cut to the size of the keyboard square over the and put the key back your problems all go away. Getting the spacebar key back on with the spring bar is a bit of a fiddle so make sure you do it carefully. Hope this helps someone!
The mouse is very comfortable. The buttons are supposed to be programmable, and indeed the device management screen offers all the actions that can be programmed, but the mouse never seems to understand! I am using a fully up to date Windows 10 system.
They both came to life instantly on pluging in the receiver.
Keyboard and Mouse work fine but in order to make them work with a PC, you have to go to Logitch and download their Setpoint drivers. This is not a problem once you know, but they should really tell users about it. Fortunately, I remembered the issues, but there is no CD provided and the suppliers should put a note in box otherwise users will send it back as ‘not working’. The mouse works without the drivers, but not the keyboard. This is not a moan about the product, just being helpful!
Only got his combo today.replacing an ancient but still servicable Microsoft keyboard/mouse combo (the mouse died last year). I bought it ‘used’ from Amazon, but TBH it came in original packaging and looks fine to me. As others have mentioned, no CD installation disc or set up instructions, but I had downloaded all in advance. Didn’t really need to do that, as Win 10 picked it up immediately on inserting USB dongle and here I am! Keys are a bit closer together than old keyboard, but wrist rest much more functional. And no clacking! Mouse is OK, a bit more sensitive than my previous one, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it. Love the LED caps lock indicator!
It’s actually a pleasure to type on, only 4 stars at the moment as so new, but will upgrade if it serves me well (old wireless keyboard lasted 15 years!)
I originally went for the Logitech MK 270 combo, but returned that as the keyboard was plasticky and ‘clacky’, and the mouse cheap and not that great. Given I do a lot of typing I went instead for the MK710. The keyboard is quiet, the keys quite squishy, and the cushioned palm rest a real plus if you spend a long time at a keyboard. (Unlike my previous Logitech keyboard the palm rest is integral, and doesn’t clip on.) The mouse for the 710 is Logitech’s ‘Marathon’ version: not top notch, but comfy and the ability to either fast scroll or scroll a few lines at a time is good. (I use this mouse to scroll text using my left hand, and a more ergonomic mouse to navigate as usual.) The set up was instantaneous, with no problems. The keyboard and mouse are meant to last a few years on non-rechargeable batteries, the keyboard displays its battery power, and you can even turn off the mouse and keyboard if you’re away for a long time.
Why not 5 stars? While very content with the MK710, it’s quite a price leap from the 270. And while it’s good to have a visible display showing you when the caps are on, it would have been better had it involved an illuminating light on the keyboard: the display at the top of the board is faint at the best of times, and virtually invisible in strong light. Still, looking forward to years of service with ther MK710.
The mouse is a good size and fits in the hand of an adult male very comfortably. It is very precise and works on either a desk surface or a mouse mat. As with the keyboard, it is easy to set up and get going. It has two side buttons and a button near the wheel which switches between “clicky” scrolling or free scrolling (and seems to spin for ages!).
One small issue is the Logitech receiver is taped to the packaging inside the box and is VERY easy to miss. If you aren’t aware it is essential (and thus go hunting for it) it would be easy to toss the packaging without noticing it.
I bought this Logitech Wireless Desktop MK710 an old keyboard I was using started to playup when the space key refused to move forwards. I admit to being a fan of Logitech as I believe they manufacture good reliable keyboards and mice at reasonable prices. The keyboard and mouse arrived in the time stated and was very well packaged. The large installation set-up sheet is well laid out and easy to understand so in under five minutes I had the keyboard and mouse up and running. I had previously used a Logitech wireless mouse so once I had inserted the supplied wireless USB dongle the keyboard and mouse were both recognized. The Keyboard has a great layout with plenty of useful function keys clearly well marked.
There is an on/off power switch easily accessible on each of the mouse and keyboard to preserve battery life. The blurb promises 3 year life so I will just have to wait and see but it’s nice to have anyway.
The keyboard has two pairs of legs at the rear so you can use it flat, or raised up. I much prefer the raised position as it makes using the wrist rest much more comfortable. I do a lot of typing during the day and this is very important to me. It does not slide about when in use and grips the surface of my desk very well. The keys themselves are very positive and react to what I’d call a normal touch. The space bar is of a good size as is the enter key. I like the controls for the sound as they are on their own adjacent to the battery power indicator.
The mouse is comfortable to use and the ergonomics for holding in the hand are perfect. The action of the cursor is very positive and the scroll-wheel works perfectly.
All in all an excellent piece of kit that I enjoying using almost every day.
I purchased this item to replace the same model I had had for several years as I’d never quite got used to the keyboard on my laptop. I had tried that at the store and found it perfect, and indeed it was. The combination with the mouse and using only a single USB port is even better. I spend lots of hours typing and it’s made my life much nicer. I don’t doubt there might be other keyboards that would do the same service, but this one is a joy, at least for me.
I had to replace the other one because I dropped the mouse and it stopped working, although the keyboard was working still but a bit worn. The batteries last a very long time (even for heavy users like me).
Although I chose the standard delivery, the item arrived in a couple of days.
I am a huge fan of Logitech, have been using their wireless products since the 1990s. Normally I am brand loyal, but when I purchased a desktop last year my SO got me a new setup with a different competitor brand. Fast forward to this year and that adapter had completely packed up, I was totally unhappy and finally got so frustrated that I decided to purchase my own replacement. The MK710 is very large, but it’s exactly what I wanted as I prefer a full size keyboard that includes keypad, plus I rely on my multimedia keys. You can turn off the mouse as normal but I really love that the keyboard has on off switch as well. The keys feel great under the pads of the fingers with a lovely bit of feedback as you type without being overly loud. I don’t consider it a whisper keyboard though; I admit I’ve heard quieter. Still for me this was a brilliant purchase and as long as the adapter holds up I’m back in the Logitech fold for good.
I’ve been using this keyboard for several months and love it. The ergonomics is just right. The size and the shape of the keys, the sound when you press them (not to loud) are just right, the installation was seamless on Windows – a pure plug and play, it contains a number of function keys that would open the calculator, mail, browser, control the speakers ….. We got these in the office and there are quite a few of us who bought them for home after using them for a while.
Not to forget the mouse since it’s a combo, it is a very good mouse as well, but I don’t see a big difference compared to the good mice I’ve had so far, therefore not as much excited about it as I am about the keyboard.
I used many good keyboards so far, this is my favourite one.
I would highly recommend the product.
When I first got it I didn’t like the keys at all. Yet here I am two weeks later typing away and it feels as if I have been typing on it for years. I guess you just have to adapt to any new keyboard. Mouse works nice and is comfortable.
One issue that you should be aware of – I see people claiming that the device is effective from 10 meters away etc.
I didn’t find that to be the case. My PC is perhaps 1.5 meters away from the keyboard as the crow flies and due to its positioning the signal would have to travel through the PC casing and a chunk of the mobo etc so perhaps that was blocking it. I found that the mouse sometimes moved a bit stuttery and the keyboard didn’t always work properly.
I used the included extension cable for the transmitter to move it a little closer and with an unobstructed path for the signal and now it works beautifully.
I love the soft texture wrist rest on the keyboard but wish the volume control was one of those rolling wheel things rather than buttons but hey that is personal preference.
I don’t know how to score it though. I am happy and it all works fine. I just think it is a bit over priced. Think of my review as a 4.5 out of 5.
For the money I’d expect more buttons on the mouse (would be useful for gaming) and a nice wheel volume controller on the keyboard.
I really like the keyboard which I am using now. It felt a little different to start with, but I quickly got used to it. It has all the features I would expect from a quality keyboard and the textured wrist rest is very comfortable. An LCD display at the top in the middle shows the battery status, Caps Lock indicator, Num lock indicator and Scroll lock indicator. I also like the fact that the additional function keys to access applications, for example, are actioned with a separate FN key, much like some laptops have. I do, however, find the volume key responsiveness a little flakey, although, when used, the mute key indicates on the LCD display.
The mouse is small and neat, perfect for my small hand. It has a button on the top which toggles between scroll modes for the scroll wheel, click or smooth roll. It also includes Back and Forward navigation buttons on the side.
Both items run wirelessly from the same tiny USB adaptor which you can just plug in and forget.
And can’t fault it. I love buying kit that works so was just trawling Amazon to see what new keyboards and mice are around.
Nothing wrong this one at all so not surprised its still for sale.
Batteries last for ever – no idea if I’ve changed them once or twice but they definitely last well over a year, the keyboard is accurate and very hard wearing – mine had a pot of tippex poured over it a year or so ago and after it dried it was just a case of scrapping it off the key pad and hammering on the keys for a couple of minutes – brilliant build quality.
UPDATE
Updated review : now almost 5 years old and still being used for 30 hours a week, batteries lasted for almost 3 years in the end – normal duracell ones – works fine with windows 10 – although I did need to update the driver.
UPDATE – Purchased in Jan 2011, now June 2017 and still in daily use – both mouse and keyboard. This together with an HP monitor (22″ cost a bomb back in the day) purchased in 2008 that is also still in daily use are the best bits of IT kit I have ever purchased.
When my old keyboard went I decided to replace it with this very similar but more modern combo. Apart from a couple of minor niggles I am very pleased with the new MK710 combo. The niggles are that I miss the straightforward quick keys for EMAIL and SLEEP on the old keyboard. I now have to use two keys for these operations (FN+). A minor but irritating issue. The only other complaint is the rubber footpads keep coming off the new keyboard’s four flick-down feet.
The good bits are very light key action and the softer wrist pad. All very nice and comfortable. The tiny unifying receiver takes up very little space on the desk top. I haven’t had time to explore key programming yet but it may be possible to change the fucntion of the calculator and CD eject keys to my much missed Sleep and Email tap-keys.
All-in-all a great buy at a sensible price.
This is a super keyboard which does what is is supposed to very well. I am happy to recommend this keyboard to anyone with one tiny reservation. The letters have been transferred onto the keys (do you remember Airfix…well a bit like that) and sadly this looks a bit tacky, it probably won’t last very long but above all (and this is only 1% a problem, as I say the keyboard is 99% cool) because we have overhead lights in the office, I can’t really see the characters because the high gloss transfers reflect the light.
Would I buy another one…YES I WOULD.
But the BEST BIT is the moue…it’s fantastic…get this you won’t be sorry. I would have awarded 5 stars if it weren’t for the glare issue.
I can’t really fault this product – my keyboard is still showing full battery after 10 hours average daily usage – mouse is around 80% at the moment too.
The build quality is fairly good, although my keyboard keys are now starting to creak a little (especially noticeable when playing games).
The mouse works well, but will not work on black glass (not an issue if you have a mouse mat). The scroll can take a little getting used to – I started using in smooth scroll mode – everything was very smooth(!), but some programs do not like this. Games do not work well with smooth scroll, but the option to easily click this on and off is great.
Mouse has a good range – My sofa is a few metres away and I can still browse etc. very well.
Very good, worth buying. Knocked one star off because this is not so much for the gamer as on the odd occasion a button will get stuck (by this I mean struggle to press in – a little more pressure to push down than normal).
I am used to gaming keyboards and mice, so I’m a picky person when it comes to to mice and keyboards. For office use, these keyboards are great. The keyboard is a UK version one, and the mice is pretty decent in size. I did not want small keyboards or mice, my work is mainly programming, so I’ll be using these a lot.
I am very happy with the purchase. My only concern is whether I should have gone for a G110 Gaming Keyboard + G500 Gaming Mouse which would only cost around 10 more with the current prices, other than that, I highly recommend them, especially is someone wants them for the wireless feature.
After a couple of keyboards I wasn’t happy with I purchased the M710 hoping the higher cost would be justified. One of the problems I’d had with previous keyboards was faded, to the extent they were unreadable, key markings. So this time before using the new one I bought some acrylic semi-gloss varnish from a local model shop and added a protective coating to all the keys. (Very carefully). The keyboard works perfectly, doesn’t suffer from interference problems (as did a previous keyboard I’d tried) and has some excellent facilities to set the mouse and function keys for your own requirements.
Two minor criticisms however which stopped me giving a 5 star rating. The mouse is designed for right handed use. No problem for me but my wife is left handed: and, when the keyboard software is loaded it appears to be responsible for a single flicker, a few seconds after the picture is opened, on any picture I select to view with any of the various editing / viewing programs I run. I need to investigate this further but meanwhile have removed this software from my PC.
Lets start with ths good bits:
It has a tiny unifying reciever that you can plug it and leave it and I believe you can connect up to 6 logitech devices to it.
It feels very repsonsive with no lag at all and the mouse works at a good distance away too and above all it’s laser not optical.
I am a gamer and my wife is an everyday user (facebook, email, msn etc etc the list goes on). Although the mouse is slighlty smaller than what I’m used to it is very responive (don’t worry if you are a gamer and looking for a high dpi mouse it makes very little difference, this mouse has more than enough). It has a button next to the scroll wheel that when clicked can switch the scroll wheel from hyper scrolling (fantastic for browsing and long documents) to the classic cliccy scrolling (essential for gaming especially fps). Comes also with software to customise your buttons. It looks awesome and it feels great (Software also allows mouse to recognise when you are gaming and switched to a more responive mode).
The keyboard is also very good with the in-curve keys being a nice touch. I have seen people complain that it might be too shiny and might leave finger marks but it really isn’t a problem. Very reponsive, very smart and looks really good.
Aparently Logitech say that the battery life and keyboard will last 3 years. This may be helped by the fact they both have an on/off switch to conserve battery. It does not have a mouse charger which often adds to clutter on a desk and needs a wire to the pc (so one less wire to get in the way yay!)
Now the bad bits:
I really can’t fault anything apart from the lcd screen on the keyboard which needs to be more visible as you have got to stare at it to check you have the caps lock key on or off.
Overall 9.5/10.
This is an excellent keyboard – looks good and is really easy to use (once you correct mistakes for the first couple of days, whilst getting used to the new feel/response). The connection works really well, even though the USB transmitter/receiver is a couple of metres away and is in a cupboard (my laptop is docked out of the way in a cupboard)!!
But the mouse is not as good IMO. It did work, but it is rather large and is biased against left-handed people in its design. I’m actually right handed, but trained myself to use left hand to keep right free, so it didn’t feel natural to use. I suggest left-handed users look at a picture of the mouse design carefully before buying. I already had another smaller, better, Logitech mouse (B605) which docked to the same USB transmitter/receiver, so all was well. The new bought mouse now lives in a cupboard too!
I would recommend this product to people, particularly the keyboard. 🙂
This is the best keyboard/mouse bundle I’ve used so far. Very responsive and accurate. One of the nice things about this set is that you can turn both mouse and keyboard off if you are planning to leave for some time. This will have a big effect on battery life – up to 3 years? The tiny unifying dongle attaches to a lead and on my set-up, sits just below my screen out of the way.
I previously had a couple of DiNovo bluetooth sets and they had all sorts of problems – lag, hangs, disconnecting, poor battery life etc. I also have just stopped using my MX Revolution mouse, which is amazing, but the MK710 mouse does everything that I need it to and I actually prefer it. It’s a better size (slightly smaller) but all the buttons you need – page back/forward, scroll all directions, and a neat button to show all windows in Windows 7. And you can programme them for different options.
The keyboard has the new round key tops which do look a bit weird to start with but after a very short while, you forget that and realise they do the job better – you don’t catch keys so easily. Loads of function keys, a calculator button – it really does offer loads of features for intensive users.
I use my set all day at work and I love it. So much so, that I’ve just ordered another set for home.
You will not be disappointed.
This prompted me to start looking for a replacement without spending too much money. after reading quite a few reviews I settled on this model.
One concern was that I am running Windows 7 x64. However, after reading some reviews this appeared not to be an issue. Correct! it is not an issue it works first time with no fuss.
The keyboard and mouse are both of good build quality. There are a couple of bits on each which feel like they could have been better built but overall the build seems good if not great, like most things today. I suspect this to be a very minor issue though and they should both withstand the normal day to day use. The keyboard is light in weight.
The keys are set out differently to my previous keyboard so has taken a short time to get used to but I’m getting there. the keys work well without being over clicky. The additional media keys and functions keys is useful and most can be reprogrammed.
One of the reasons for going with this model was the presence of a numlock/capslock indicator which seems to be missing on a few wirelsss models.
As my pc sits quite a bit away from my monitor, keyboard etc I am quite happy with the tiny usb wireless adaptor. It is about 1/6 the size of my previous adaptor so can be discreetly placed most places.
Using this means that I have had 0 (zero) character drops or mouse issues.
The mouse is very comfortable, for me. there are two main buttons, as you would expect, but there are also two more on the left side of the mouse easily accessed by your left thumb. A wheel helps for scrolling etc and also works as a button.
I have only used this set for about a week but so far I am happy with my choice. I would be happy to recommend these devices.
arrived next working day – lovely packaging promising 3-year battery life and showing a tiny usb plug-in that is small enough to leave in a laptop if you’re using an external keyboard.
I immediately worried that this would be a stretch to get signals from desktop to pc on the floor but they’ve thought of that as there is also a usb extension cable to site the little key on your desk. (It’s even shaped to look nice and lie flat)
switch off pc, plug in keyboard, switch on pc – machine auto-installs and the mouse and keyboard just work (Windows 7). even the additional “media” keys on the top for volume and mute work straight away without any fiddling – mute being especially useful when the phone rings!
keyboard has lovely “soft touch” keys with a long travel but not at all clicky – just really nice feel – a bit like a quality car door when you’ve stepped out of a cheap one!
the mouse is very nice – a good size for a male hand, nicely shaped, and the wheel – which works side to side as well – has a button which switches between fast (and silent) or slower for detail with a nice subtle click as feedback
all in all a really nice quality piece of kit which is so much better than my last keyboard and mouse that I should have bought one ages ago!
I have used Logitech cordless mouse and keyboards for years with no problem, always going for the mid to top range. The MK710 does what it says on the tin, what else do you need?. The mouse fast scroll is useful but the slow scroll is a little uncomfortable to the feel. It still performs though. The minute wireless transmitter is great for someone who uses the MK170 on a notebook I really have only one small criticism and that is that sometimes (but very very occasionally) some keys dont work. I guess because of the signal (The transmitter is in a front USB port on my desk top PC which is under my desk and about 3ft away, you do receive a cable if you want to bring nearer but that defeats the benefit) ~ Generally speaking I don’t think you will regret buying this.
It features brilliant rounded flat square keys that make it different from other keyboards, when typing with this keyboard it is much faster and much easier it is very comfortable with the leather rest along the bottom and you will find that all the essential keys have written words on them rather than symbols like most generic keyboards, this really is an awesome keyboard.
The bundle comes with its own software which allows you customize keys as you want them, the program also highlights the location of the key on an image so that you know which key your customizing.
The battery life is awesome it is the best, when they said that fair useage the battery life will last about 3 year they wernt kidding ive been using this keyboard and mouse for a while now and sometimes allday, my batteries say they have 657 days its brilliant. Usually by now because of how much I use my computer, I would have replced my battries twice.
The mouse is also awesome and makes a great addition to gaming, the mouse is so comfortable and elegant theres pretty much no effort at all, the mouse doesnt scrape scratch or feel like its dragging on the desktop, it feels as if its a miniture hover craft in my hand.
This product is well worth what I paid for it all the buttons and features make it brilliant for multimedia and gaming.
The only down side to this product is that it has attracted attention to my computer, everyone prefers to use my computer because of my mouse and keyboard. but at least I still get to use it :-).
