Great bag. Fits my R7 and 100-500mm lens easily. Also wide angle 17-40 f4 lens, spare batteries strap, blower and cleaning clothes. Can also get a pair of 32mm binoculars in without their case. Pocket on side for flask or water bottle. Very comfortable to wear whilst walking. Easy to open with good zips which are easy to use with gloves on. All round a good purchase
This bag is the result of my doing lots of research on Youtube as with no shops open I could not get a feel of what was good enough. Days after buying it I went to Iceland to visit the volcano and did three trips up the hill. In it I had, Nikon D750, 24-85 Zoom, 70-300 mm, filters, lens cleaning stuff, sd cards. Plus phone and a giotto tripod strapped to it. In there were my over trousers, gloves/beanie, snacks and on the side a big bottle of water. To be honest, I would not want a bigger bag (more kit) for hiking up 300 meters for a 7 mile round trip in howling wind on rough ground. While travelling, it also held my trablet and documents etc etc for carry on. It fitted the overhead bins on the plane easily. The bag has more straps than you can think off. I used some of them to attach a fleecey to etc. Overall good quality, right size and comfortable.
Second time I have bought one of these bags. First one I sold when I reduced my equipment but then I went a bought more. The bag has loads of space and various little pockets here and there. The only issue I have is the waist strap and the ability to swing the bag around your waist and access your gear, in principle this is an amazing feature but in reality doesn’t work well. Therefore the first thing i do when taking this bag home is to neatly cut off the waist strap as it just gets in the way. Other than that the bag is great.
Brilliant product as you’d come to expect from Lowepro. Well thought out, tough and durable and perfect to store away your DSLR safely and neatly. I purchased as an upgrade to an old Lowepro back as I’d never consider any other make. Can be in the expensive side but that’s my only gripe.
I like this backpack as it allows me to get access to my kit without having to take it off and rumage through. The zips are on the inside in order that you can do that. I good idea well executed.
As I have only really had the chance to properly use this bag a couple of times, I can only give my opinion based on that. On first impressions I am very happy with the quality, space and relative comfort whilst carrying it on my back. I tend to carry 3 lenses (one fairly large), a camera body, several filters, spare batteries and occasionally a tripod. This bag seems to fit the bill perfectly, whilst the equipment is fairly heavy the bag distributes the weight nicely on the back especially with the adjustable straps-shoulder and waist, making it fairly comfortable to carry. Excellent main space which can be divided as required with velcro partitions allowing me to fit a large zoom attached to camera for easy use, whilst still allowing for a couple of other lenses plus filters to be stored safely. Plenty of other compartments ,accessed via front zip for storing lens cloths, batteries, memory cards etc. Very happy so far.
Great bag, accommodates a Canon 7D mark II with a Tamron G2 150-600 mm lens attached.
Mostly comfortable, but sits low on the back, padded waist band is too padded, but shoulder straps are perfect.
The front section is fine for some light accessories. The main pouch provides additional room for accessories including charger, a spare lens or two and a bean bag (in my case).
The external tripod mount is mostly rubbish as it bounces around while walking, so instead mine is clipped into a side pouch, secure, but loses a side pouch that would be handy for something else.
Also, the design of the waist bands makes it awkward to open the bag fully at the rear. Not a huge issues, just bothersome.
As for water resistance, it’s fine, haven’t tried the waterproof shell cover yet.
Amazing quality as you may expect from lowepro. I can fit easily a 200-500, Z6II with battery grip, flash sb-910, nikkor Z 24mm, Z 35mm, Z 50mm and Z 85mm. In the little bag I’ve got extra batteries, cleaning tools and so on. Hard drive, laptop and iPad. Manfrotto befree. If you’re looking for a good quality bag pack this will be the one to go for.
As a wildlife photographer this bag is just about perfect, It easily holds my Tamron 150-600 G2 attached to a Nikon Z6, with room for lots more equipment, lenses, bodies tripod heads or a gimbal, the design of the strapping means I can carry both my carbon fibre tripod and monopod, with the weight spread around such as I don’t notice it, there are loads of pockets for all your extras, memory cards, cleaning equipment filters etc, there is a removable storage bag that I carry my bathroom kit in on overnight expeditions, with plenty of room for a change of under clothes in the bag its self. I have not had the problems with the zips that other reviewers have had, maybe Lowepro took note and improved them, overall this is a large, excellent backpack that I would highly recommend.
The bag was a good size lightweight and roomy inside. The weather proof cover is inside a pocket and attached to the bag which means it can’t be dropped. Would recommend.
Solid backpack that will fit camera and 3 lens if required. Space for batteries and sd cards and filters. Side pockets and straps for your tripod. Best feature is the open from the reverse of the bag means you can lay it on down on the ground to access your equipment. Rain sheet also included. Bag materials seems strong and shower resistant. Happy with the purchase.
This was just what my husband needed. Two camera plus all the extras in one bag made it very unwealdy, so another bag to take the smaller camera, and this was just right.
I ordered this as a replacement for my previous bag. I’ve had it for quite a while now and I couldn’t be happier. It’s sturdy and there is plenty of protection for my equipment. The inside is fully customisable so it can adapt to any changes in your equipment. The bag also comes with a fitted rain cover, so is perfectly suited to a British summer. Would definitely recommend this.
Maybe slightly overpriced but it’s a great bag – there’s plenty of room for a canon 77d with 100-400mm lens attached, along with 4 other lenses, a filter carrier, a small amount of clothing and all the various accessories and attachments I needed for photography holidays and weekends away.
The bag is a convenient size, easy to access and comfortable to carry. A smaller bag would not hold larger lenses, such as 300mm f/4 or a DSLR with battery grip. A bigger bag would be heavier than would be comfortable to carry for extended periods. The rear access is helpful when putting the bag down on wet or muddy ground. Extra room or external attachments for non-photographic items would be useful, however (e.g., food, waterproofs).
Perfect bag, for every photographer. Was worried it may be fake, and it looked not? I cannot find any shop to compare yet, and I choose to believe it is a genuine nice bag
This is a great backpack, I particularly like the way you can swing it round and open it to take out or put away your kit without having to take it off or put it down. It fits my Canon 70D, 24-105mm lens, 100-400mm lens, microphone, spare batteries and accessories. Pity about the tripod storage, not as good as I expected, but otherwise good.
I find all Lowepro products are well made and well designed. The Flipside function does need to be used with care though. Make sure you are holding the storage part of the bag when undoing the zips. I think it could be possible for equipment to fall out otherwise. Only had a water bottle fall out from a side pocket so far! Much safer to put the bag down if possible and perhaps use the AW cover to rest it on.
The bag is the perfect size as carry on plane luggage. It comfortably holds my Canon 5D4 with grip, 17-40mm, 24-105mm speedlite and filters. With room to spare.
I have had a few different bags and this one definitely is the best one so far, very well made and it can hold a lot of stuff.
I currently have 5 lenses, 2 camera bodies, a speedmaster flash, remote controls, iPad Pro, cables, chargers, 4 memory cards, cleaning cloths, business cards and pens all stored in this bag with a tripod on the outside.
Great Bag, Highly Recommended.
Absolutely love this product. Takes my kit easily, with space for flasks, lunch and even a first aid kit. I don’t use the swivel function as I prefer to take it off to sort my kit out. I used to use a hiking rucksack to carry my kit, but it all feels a lot lighter using this!
I am always changing how I carry my camera/lenses, but it is so easy to change the compartments to fit what I need
The only thing I don’t like is the tripod system. My tripod is very heavy and if I use the carry system, it does tend feel like the rucksack is unbalanced, but that shouldn’t be a problem if you have a lightweight carbon fibre tripod.
I’m not kidding when I say I researched for months. I tried bags in shops and even bought online and returned. This is perfect for my needs. For me will hold full frame Nikon, 70-200mm, 24-70mm, 14-24mm, 15mm fisheye, 50mm prime, 18-35mm and a 90mm macro plus.. a load of filters, cloths, triggers etc. Weighs a ton with that lot in :/ I usually take out the lenses I don’t need. Or pack 3 essential lenses and fit the mavic 2 pro drone. Lots of pockets for small items. Lots of protection for kit. The promo vid showing someone undoing arms, swivel bag round and open with waist straps will only work with minimal kit weight. Tripod can attach central on back to centralised weight. I like the half open and fold of main opening if just need camera. Zips seem excellent. Materials feel strong. Overall very impressed.
Well worth the money. Easy to fit and organise all sorts of camera equipment with room for a packed lunch on long days. Love the built in rain protector. Comes in very useful when your half way up a welsh mountain and the heavens open.
Like most Lowe products, a very useful rucksack. Fits the 600mm lens, body, and 3 shorter lenses perfectly. Spacers are with velcro and can be readjusted. Good comfort although I found the weight was noticeably after a full day. Haven’t used it in a torrential downpour yet… because no point taking a camera out in that weather, but it withheld nicely in a normal shower. Nice colour for blending in as well if you’re into nature photography like myself.
Thrilled with my bag, absolutely great and suits my needs as an amateur wildlife photographer perfectly. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is an amateur or even professional outdoor/nature photographe
Generally its a great bag. Protects your kit well. Just a about spacious enough inside. Though there is a vast difference between this 400 and the Flipside 500.
There are some downsides however:
I would’ve preferred the front pouch to be slightly bigger.
Problem is carrying a tripod on front of bag means you can’t use the AW cover! I’m forced sometimes moving the tripod to the side and not being the smallest of tripods, I always feel I could wreck the side pocket.
There should be option put bigger tripods at the side properly. Even an extra cargo strap either side at bottom would’ve sufficed.
Why am I say almost? Because Lowepro also follows marketing policies vs. creating the best backpack on Earth. They distribute the new inventions in several models, so they can sell them all. Maybe it is just me, but there are so many cool features but on 4-5 different models while it would not be hard, nor expensive to merge all these awesome things in one. My previous bag was a 400 AW which I liked however I missed a few things that are perfectly patched now in the new version.
But anyways, I do not want to be nit picking here, since I think I still got the best backpack in my life and the most important features are there! I am really happy with it in general. It is made from really high quality materials. They built this to last. I love this green camo color, because it matches with my other military backpack, and on the previous black version, you could easily see the dirt that was hard to clean. The other important thing that it does not look so obviously like a photo backpack. It might come handy when you go to some place you do not want to bring other’s attention that you are carrying expensive equipments on your backside.
I love the new laptop pocket in the back, that was something I was waiting for. It has also extra straps on the bottom now to strengthen the hold when you keep the backpack on your belt while opening it. It is also higher and deeper that the AW 400 so I can fit all my new lens in there. I got 2 Canon Flashes, a 70-200 IS USM F2.8 II, a 24-70 F2.8, a Macro F2.8 100mm, A Canon 5D M4, a Canon 5D M2, a mini tripod, a Flash turbo with charger, a 13 inch Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop, a tons of batteries in the separate bag compartment (very handy feature), and a bunch of small items in bags all fit in the backside (all these weight about 10-11 kg). The bag barely, but still fits in the airplane’s cargo, compiles with the big hand luggage size restrictions. It was important for me since I like travelling but do not like giving out my gear to strangers’ hands. It is very comfortable to wear it on both sides (on my back or stomach) even with 10-11 kg weight in it. The backside is soft, nicely padded. Thanks Lowepro! 🙂
I spent ages trying to decide which bag would be big enough, but not too big, for my stuff, this one is spot on.
In mine I’ve got:
EOS 6d ii with 28-70L (and hood)
100-400mmL (and hood)
f1.8 50mm
Shoulder Strap
Speedlite 380 (under Sholder strap)
Batteries, Chargers, little Sureshot and assorted bits and pieces, and there’s still room for phone, tablet and stuff like that.
Tripod holder and rain cover are really useful features.
This is an excellent bag. Really packed a bunch of stuff into it, including a laptop, an iPad and my e-book. Plus loads of rolls of film, yes I still shoot film, and my SLR with lenses and filters and cleaning materials. It was job loading and unloading at airport security, though. It also sat nicely on my back, being quite comfortable to carry even when fully loaded. The only drawback and why the 4 stars, not 5, is that the flip round feature doesn’t work nearly as well as I would have liked. It’s awkward when flipped round, and was best if I had a surface or some form of support for the bag.
It looks quite small on the outside but it’s actually got loads of room inside and can fit a lot of gear in. The bag is very well made and is so light the big pocket on the front has a few good sized compartments, there are 2 side mesh pockets a tripod cup on the front and a few straps to hang things off. Inside the main compartment on the flap there is a tablet or thin laptop pocket another good size pocket for accessories and there are 3 memory card holders. A novel feature 1 of the dividers splits open to store something thin in (cool feature). In the top section is a padded removable pouch. I think it makes a very good, day bag. It’s very good value for money and is Lowepro quality.
This is an amazing bag, distributes the weight perfectly across the back and after a while feels like you have nothing on your back at all. All straps are well padded especially around the waist. This has tones of space in this bag and easily fits my canon 80d, 10-24mm, 24-70mm, 50mm, 70-200mm all my square filters, 2 x go pros with various mounts plus lots lots more. I would highly recommend this bag to anyone who has a few lenses and wants them highly protected.
I’ve always rated LowePro camera cases and was looking at this one (flip side 300AW II) for a while before deciding.
Firstly, comfort. The weight of the camera, kit lens, 2 other lenses and other paraphernalia are well-distributed in this case, ensuring you can wear it for long periods of time without getting shoulder / neck / back pain. The straps are easily adjustable to give a good fit.
Second, security. I’ve not travelled with this case, however I always used to keep my zips safe with a large karabina on my old case, because I didn’t like that my camera was on my back and could be accessed. With this case, that can’t happen, as access is behind the straps.
Thirdly, storage. The zip access on the rucksack provides ample storage for an iPad, keys, glasses, notepad and two side pockets mean you can carry a drinks bottle. No more going out with a camera bag…and a second bag with all your other kit!
It’s on the pricey side but for me, does what I want / need it to do, making it worth the extra money from some of the similar rucksacks across the range.
It is definitely an amazing backpack for those who like to travel or just walk around with a good amount of their gear put comfortably on their backs. I was very pleasantly surprised at how light the backpack itself is and I am very happy with how it feels on my back when it is full with my gear. While loaded, the flip-trick is a little harder to execute, but by putting a knee underneath for support is enough to provide enough security for getting the camera out and even changing a lens quickly.
All round a good purchase
absolutely love this bag and it holds everything I need, also Love the front pocket as I can store my weeble s gimbal in there

I can put in the bag:
– Sony a6000
– Sony a6500
– Flash light
– Tablet
– 70-200mm f2.8 lens
– 55mm f1.8
– 12mm f2
– 19mm f1.4
– 35mm f1.8
Really well protected, and I love the way to access the gear by putting the backpack in front of you.
