I am mad cats bias as I have always owned them ! Had an old rat TE and this was a great upgrade
i was using a cheap mouse on this new pc but wasnt doing it any justice i had to get a upgrade.
i really like the look of this mouse it feels good in the hand its got a nice weight to it, the RGB is cool the precision button on the side is very helpful, the pinky holder prevents your finger been dragged accross the desk making it more comfortable to use.
the extra parts are easy to change.
the software is not user friendly its complicated wish it was easier to set up the lights and different patterns it can do
Got one 9 years ago (different model) used it for 7 years. Then used 3 different mice in the last 2 years before coming back to mad catz. It’s so nice to use. A bit on the heavy side, but thats what I like.
7-8 years ago I had a r.a.t 5 that mouse was the best, with every possible adjustment i needed, and this one is just even better because it topped my expectations
Upgraded from the RAT 7 which I had for over 10 years and finally seen its day… Up to know I’m really happy with the RAT 8 and what pleased me the most, the punky rest off the RAT 7 fit perfectly on the RAT 8 as it doesn’t come with one
buttons are smooth to press, may take a little time to get used to
Great mouse easily adjustable for your hand size so it always fits great on your hand.
Has a really nice weight to it which makes it nice to move around.
The only downside is the software which still looks like it was made by a design team and has very limited functionality. I have actually crashed out the mouse due to this (motion worked but no buttons registered).
The few things you can do with the software is really nice quality of life stuff though like auto-clicker and basic macros which I fo use often.
Upgraded from a R.A.T 7 that I had for years. Couldn’t go back to standard shape mouse after having a customised mouse for years. Mainly used for gaming and really comfy for long gaming sessions + performance is great.
My previous mouse (a more recent model from the RAT series) broke, this has proved to be a great replacement as I’ve been using it now for several months. While I still prefer my previous mouse this is a good alter for a lower price
Bought it for husband as he’s fan of mad catz products. One of the best, would recommend to everyone.
Best mouse I’ve ever had this here R.A.T. PRO X3…and excellent Customer Service from the Seller. My new Go To mouse provider is DELE Nordic.
Used for gaming. This is great mouse and second one I have bought in10 years (other one still works).
My only complaint is that comes with the ability to adjust the weight by add or removing weights. This version I found was not heavy enough for myself so had to add weights from my original one.
I’m a software engineer that works on my machine litterally all day, I’m also a gamer so I play on my machine much of the time I am not working on it
I have owned 2 R.A.T mice and loved both
I have also used Corsairs and various other mice and find them all inferior especially the Corsairs
My old cougar 700M mouse needed replacing (unfortunately) and at first I tried a Logitech mouse which was unsatisfactory. This mouse is well-made, quite adjustable and very precise. The mouse buttons have some nice resistance to them and feel like they will last for a good while. The sensor works extremely well, I had to reduce the tracking speed a lot to make it work for me though.
The mouse is large and that was what I was looking for in the first place as I have large hands (200mm x 100mm). It is also adjustable in some respects. The only adjustment which I had my problems with was the palm rest. I couldn’t find the perfect height for my palm but the one I am using now is not far off the mark.
People have complained about the software to program the buttons, etc. I don’t think it is as bad as some reviews say. It is not the best I have encountered but I managed without any difficulties to set up the mouse. If I had a complaint then it is that it is only for Windows and no Mac version is offered. (The mouse itself works perfectly well on a Mac – but a Windows computer is required if you want to change its settings.)
So far I am delighted with the mouse.
his mouse is well worth the money its precision comfortable in the hand light weight and adjustable Brilliant for thows people who play shooters and games like command & conquer i play various games this mouse is a dream to use better than my old one honestly if your looking for a cheap gaming mouse that’s not going to make you bankrupt then this mouse is the one for you i highly recommend this mouse
I have had the thing for over a year now, it is a comfortable mouse and I really like mad catz mice. The only issue is the rear side mouse button on mine has now broken (of over use), which is not ideal. Other than that its a decent produc
I used a Rat 2 for 9 years until the left click started getting a bit spongy. I got the Rat 4 as a direct replacement it is the same except for the extra button on the left hand side. It feels slight more sensitive than the rat 2. I like the ergonomics of the rats they fit my hand pretty well, the thumb rest is perfectly placed for my hand and the buttons are responsive enough for my play style. I use it on the third accuracy setting normally and that lets me adjust it up or down depending on the game. The accuracy settings can also be fine tuned in the software. I don’t use the extendable palm rest myself but it does feel a bit flimsy if you have it pulled out all the way. The 2 thin buttons on the left hand side also feel a bit cheap but I don’t use them for gaming (I have the side buttons mapped to play/pause, previous and next. Works great for controlling YouTube or music without having to tab out). The software is basic but I have had no issues with the mouse and software in my windows 10 PC. Overall I’m really happy with the rat, if you have very large hands it might be too small for you, but personally I find it really comfortable despite its slightly awkward angular styling.
I do like FPS games and I was always finding that my pinky was resting on the table/mouse mat, getting in the way and created inconsistency (must blame the tools!). I’d been looking for ages for something with a “shelf” for both the thumb and pinky rest. This one was expensive, but I went for it.
I plugged it in and had a go at “physically” configuring it… moving the thumb rest, palm rest, angles, distance, etc. At first I found it quite fatiguing to hold, but little tweaks and I got comfortable.
I initially found it great for the smoothness, but difficult to be really precise as that resting pinky did used to give me a little bit of pivot point.
After a few months of adjusting, I do feel it’s done what I wanted it to. I more consistent aim and I feel a little bit more accurate than I was before! So, someone looking for the same sort of thing should go for it.
I did clip the mouse “feet” early on on my hard mouse mat and it caused a scraping feeling. However, I contacted support and they sent me a couple of packs of “feet”. So that was good service.
The one downside to the mouse is the software. It has lots of configurability, but it’s not that user friendly. The worst bit is that the settings are stored on the mouse, so when you load the software… it doesn’t load the current settings. When you feel like tweaking it a bit, you need to remember what you set it to before. Not great!
I’d have given it 5* if it weren’t for the software… but if you know to write down/export your settings…
Initially thought this was a very cheap version compared to the old Cyborg Rat, but it’s wearing very well and the palm rest doesn’t move around like on the Cyborg.
quite please with both the mouse and the software is quite configurable without needing to run in the background or start up with Windows.
I have been using this mouse for sometime, and use it everyday! (especially during Covid-19 Work from home).
Its used for gaming and work. Fantastic weight (adjustable). Super long braided cord and lighting effects to die for! (customization via the APP).
The picture speaks a thousand words! 🙂
Use it with a Corsair mouse Matt (also available on Amazon probably) and you have a perfect match!
Mouse was great, arrived with no screw in right hand side panel. Luckily I had on old busted rat 5 to get the screw from to attach it. That is really poor however in an expensive mouse.
After about 20 minutes of finding the perfect settings for me, this mouse was extremely comfortable to use.
Lots of buttons, colour customisation, profiles, adjustable to fit your grip. It’s one huge let down is the teflon pads on the bottom, after about a month one of them started to peel away, which is really poor form for something that otherwise is a great quality build. If you buy this mouse, I’d advise picking up some teflon sheets elsewhere on amazon so you can replace them.
The R.A.T. series suits me so well. It adjusts to my hand, the buttons are all easily accessible and the R.A.T. 7 that I’ve replaced with this has completed 4 years of daily gaming without fault (there is a tiny amount of play in the main finger buttons that has prompted me to replace it). I couldn’t recommend this product more!
Always had a rat mouse, last one lasted 5 years before breaking which was good going. Bought a logitech hero and within 2 days took it back and bought this. Wont look back. Great design, good build quality, 4 spare removable parts. Software is easy to use and has many features to customise the mouse.
I bought this mouse about 1 days ago, cos i was really disappointed with Razer Mamba Tournament, which not precised, move on it own. to be honest i was sceptical about a new mouse, and i was wonder if this Mad Catz 8+ worth the money, and if it does what it suppose to do on advertised. but compare with the razer, the 8+ is 1000x better then Mamba. Yes it cost about 100, but for me is worth it, it’s cool, a lot of features, the response time is phenomenal, precision is outstanding, i am really happy, and i encourage everyone wants a nice spectacular mouse, however the mouse price tag
