This cart is the best thing ever it has so many peices that the kids can play with they love playing with this and pretend to serve icecream and snacks
The product did come with some damage, but Amazon helped make that right. This is such a cute toy and I was able to give one as a gift as well. My daughter loves playing with it and so do friends when they visit.
Food cart was made well with the material they used. The cart is not made of the cheap plastic used for children toys and it was at a great price when I bought it on Amazon. My child enjoys playing with the food cart with all the accessories that comes with it.

Now with that being said, I bought this from the Amazon warehouse so I got it for way cheaper. I don’t really believe it’s worth the original price but it is very cute and my daughter plays with it constantly.

I love M&D products for their creativity, style and educational value. I’m usually fairly impressed with the durability…which is very important to me. This wasn’t too tough to put together and the accessories are clever and fun, but I’m slightly disappointed with the post/canopy parts of the stand as I can see a child breaking it too easily. Otherwise, I am hopeful it will last a long time.
I bought this for my daughter for her 9th birthday. She is the rarity in this day in age, she likes playing pretend and using her imagination. She is not much into electronics. Because of this we buy her anything she wants (although these bigger items are left for Christmas and birthdays, unless she has done chorus and saved the money for in-between the holidays) because of this what do you get a girl that has everything?? She LOVES playing restaurant and she wanted something along those lines, so we searched Amazon and found this. I was a little hesitant about getting it because I didn’t know how cheap it was going to look/be. I was stunned by now NOT cheap looking it was. It is made exceptionally well, very sturdy. All the items included the menu board-is printed on a thick plastic board (thick enough you can not bend), all the items/food- are solid (not hollow) through and through, the awning-good thickness, all the drawers and top sliding lid are very easy to open and close, AND LETS NOT FORGET THAT THE WHEELS ACTUALLY ROLL- smoothly EVERYTHING was made to last! I don’t know why I ever doubted “Melissa & Doug” product stupid me.
All in all it is well worth the money! Not that I would ever wish something to cost more but I am surprised it wasn’t more.
Set up was fairly easy/moderate and took around 20 minutes for husband with the help of our daughter finding and handing him the next pieces. I think he did have to use his own tool though.

Everything was shipped and packaged nicely, the directions were very clear and understandable. The wood and supplies where very nice and durable. Completely satisfied with this purchase, and so was my little guy.
This product is very good for children, it could be a very good gift. It comes with a lot of extra pieces (fake food ect) the sign is switchable and it comes with a little bell ( sometimes it can be annoying) but it is removable. It is very sturdy and the wheels are moveable but it does take up a lot of space.
Wasn’t hard to put together and it’s so stinking cute. All my grandkids loved it. From 2 yrs to 12 yrs
Instructions aren’t clear, you have to figure it out but doable. 3 pieces were missing so we contacted Amazon and they shipped a new box the very next day. We just removed the pieces that we needed and sent the rest back. Great customer services as this was a gift for our granddaughters birthday. She’s LOVES it! And that’s all that matters.
This is a great purchase and kids love it. The soda cans are made of cardboard though so they don’t withstand toddlers chewing on them. Wish they were made of plastic instead. The mustard and ketchup containers are really great. There is a string that slides in and out to inside the condiments coming out. Lots of fun! Great for imaginary play.
Grandaughter simply loved it! Easy to put together but material was cheap & some pieces were busted in delivery. I did not send back fir I had already half put together & it was a Christmas gift so had to make do but feel I should have been compensated for the damaged parts.

Most played with Christmas gift! The cart should be plated with gently though. There is a crack forming around one of the cart handles already & it hasn’t even been a month yet. It came with lots of durable pieces to play with. Overall a fun toy that we are enjoying right now, but will it last a year without falling apart? I’m not so sure.
We got this cart in November around Black Friday for about 80 USD, so the deal was really good. Honestly, we were a bit nervous about whether the item will be all right because we read many reviews mentioning that the box and toy came broken.
Our box came quite damaged but we were able to request a new piece to be sent over to us without extra charge. The second box was damaged even more than the first one. Fortunately, despite the condition of the box, the cart seemed to be complete and without damage.
We put the cart together on Christmas and we were relieved that nothing is broken or missing. Also, we were pleasantly surprised about the size and quality of the cart. Also, the accessories are great fun for our daughter. Two of the sandwiches came glued together, but we were able to open them up without damaging them.
So, we are overall satisfied despite the initial issues.

It is a nice set but package came with multiple items broke. Thankfully had super glue to savage Christmas morning.

Cart wasn’t too bad to assemble. It looked like it was going to be more work than it ended up being. Our daughter had seen this cart on some television show she watches and it was ALL she wanted for Christmas! She loves it and uses it daily. The food and ice cream that come with seem to be pretty durable, and the cart is extremely sturdy if tightened together the way the directions say.
About 2 years ago my nephew who is autistic ask me for a Melissa and Doug food truck and it was the one out of cardboard. My sister and her family moved to WV and as many times as that cardboard truck had been put up and taken down to move he kept and played with it for 2 years and finally threw it away so I got him the wooden one this year and he was so over joyed. The money I spent on the wooden one is WELL worth it and just to see the look on his face when he opened it was priceless. So if u want something that is durable and will last make sure it is Melissa and Doug.
My 2 complaints are this:
1. The sign has a pretzel with mustard on it but the cart doesn’t come with one. I believe this is the only item thats on the sign thats not included.
2. My first order came with 2 of the same panels and the other missing completely. Of course Amazon customer service got me a new one ASAP.
Its super easy to set up the issue i had is that it takes a long time and you definitely need 2 people to assemble it. The instructions for the wheels were difficult to understand and i didn’t know how tight or loose I should leave the screw for the wheel to spin smoothly. Another problem is the banner on top the metal rods are difficult to put in because its keeps popping out.
The cart weighs a ton so its super heavy for a little kid to pick up. And the bottom drawer gets stuck if you push it all the way in like its supposed to. The metal rods keeps popping out if you ring the bell.
This toy was, remarkably, relatively easy to assemble, considering all the parts that spill out of the box.
The instructions are clear and straightforward – if somewhat cutesy. The parts are all well labeled, and the screws and fasteners are blister packed and labeled.
However, a suggestion for you who assemble this item – the final step is assembling two drawers – don’t follow the directions. Which is to attach a short and long side, insert dividers, attach the other long side and final short end.
My recommendation is attach both long side to one short side, put the dividers together, place the dividers into the drawer – this keeps things from sliding and falling apart – then attach the final short end.
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS AND IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. You will NOT find this quality in any “stores” like Walmart or Kmart. Me and my husband surprised our three year old for her birthday and we all LOVE it. Shes pretty rough with her toys but I’m not worried it’s very sturdy and I just love all the details. She rolls it in and out of house no problem. I tell her to keep it on the grass bc it is wood and would get ruined quicker on dirt/ dragging on cement. But I love it so much. My husband was shook how much he loved it for the girls. My three year old and five year old take turns and the quality and details is awesome. It’s just so cute and I’m so happy we bought. Came with two day shipping, all pieces included, took husband maybe an hr and half ? I wasn’t there but he said wasn’t too bad but once it’s put together it’s just so cute!!! Definitely recommend!!! Yes it rolls easily and it’s easy to switch from “Hot dog stand to Ice Cream stand”!
So Amazing!!! Huge hit with my 4 yr old! I was so excited when it went on sale for $135. It has a lot of pieces you have to assemble but the Instructions are so easy to follow. I assembled it the day it arrived and she has us all placing food and ice cream orders non-stop. She even rolled it into her room because she couldn’t go to sleep unless it was beside her. Lol The cart and all the food are so well made! Now I want to order her more Melissa and Doug stuff! It doesn’t come with any play money so if you don’t already have some I recommend buying play money to go with it because Pretending to buy and sell the food/ice cream etc is my daughters favorite part! The only downside on this is the awning/sign could have been made to attach better. It has two metal pieces and the ends of them just slide in to the open holes. They don’t have a way to attach it securely so It pops lose every time she rolls the cart or accidently bumps it. I may try to rig something up to attach it better but other than that I highly recommend this to Everyone!
It has been 4 months and she and her younger brother still play with this frequently. As with all Melissa and Doug items, it is well made and well thought out. Aside from the little bell to ring, it doesn’t have any annoying sounds. It includes quite a lot of pieces, including hotdogs and buns (with toppings and ketchup and mustard bottles), popsicles, soda cans, frozen ice, ice cream sandwiches, and pretzels. Everything fits in the drawers of the cart. My daughter spends time organizing the drawers and then preparing orders for her “customers.”
The sign on the front of the cart and the awning can be flipped around so you can be in “hot dog cart” OR “ice cream cart” mode, although we usually mix up the two. There are prices listed for the items, so if you have a toy cash register you can also pretend to pay for things.
We usually play with this alongside my younger son’s Fisher Price Food Truck, and both kids share their food items and get met to taste their various creations. We also mix in other things we have, such as toy plates for our kitchen. Sometimes the stuffed animals and dolls get food for a picnic. It’s really been a good toy for both kids and I would buy this again, even though it does take up some extra space in the play room.
Considering all the food pieces you get, it’s definitely worth every penny. The popsicles velcroed apart, the ketchup and mustard had little sticks that came out so when you had the containers upside down it came out to mimic ketchup or mustard, and the ice cream sandwiches were also velcroed so you can mix and match a wide variety of flavors.
The stand also has a little plexiglass sliding door across the top to mock a real food stand. It also really rolls. Again, the detail that goes into these toys is pretty impressive.
This is defiantly a family favorite. My 10 year old and 5 year old boys have joined in the fun plenty of times. My husband and I have been forced to eat many different delicious and gross variations of hotdog and ice cream cookie creations. We’ve also been summoned from across the house from the jingle of the bell announcing the food stand is open for business. This was a great buy with no regrets.
Construction was very easy until I get to three separate steps where the holes were drilled about half an inch too far down. What a pain in the arse when you gotta carefully create a knew screw hole in particle board the night before xmas! Were it not for those misdrilled holes, I’d have put this together in 25 or 30 minutes. It was super easy up until then.
I’d say if your kid really wants a food cart, buy this because with all the extra food it comes with it’s a great deal. But if your kid is rambunctious or rough with toys, definitely check KidKraft’s items first. They’ll easily last three times longer.
I love this cart and my kids are both completely obsessed with it! It wasn’t that bad to put together, and the parts are all really good quality. I love Melissa & Doug because they aren’t just cheap plastic toys that break within a month.
This has sliding drawers with drawer organizers and pull stops so they don’t just yank the entire drawer out onto the ground. The front sign with pictures and prices is reversible, and the top fabric sign is reversible, turning it from an ice cream stand to a hot dog stand. It comes with tons of food – hot dogs with tons of toppings, ice cream cones, ice cream sandwiches, pretzels, soda, mustard and ketchup, etc.
I saw a few reviews that mentioned that they hid/removed the bell… I didn’t remove my bell, my kids love it and I think it’s part of the fun of imagining that they are selling food.
I also love that we can push this cart around on the wheels. (The wheels don’t spin, but it allows the cart to move easily on carpet.)
Cart was fairly easy to put together, took about 1.5 hours at midnight on Christmas Eve (!!). My daughter loves it, she “scoops” the ice cream cones and serves the popsicles and rings the bell when it’s ready to serve. It’s on the heavy side, so pushing this cart around the house may require adult help, just have to make sure you follow the instructions and loosen the wheels so they roll freely. Only “gripe” I had was one of the large screws did not have grooves for the screwdriver, so I needed a pair of pliers to twist it into the pre-drilled holes. Otherwise, this was easy to put together, just have to follow the instructions carefully.
I highly recommend this for any parent whose child(ren) are into play foods. This will provide hours of pretend play time.
My 3.5 year old son saw this on display at a local toy store and I could not get him away from it! A whole store full of toys to play with and we couldn’t get past this by the front door. Needless to say, I immediately went home and added it to his Amazon Wish List for Christmas. My husband decided to put it together Christmas Eve so he could play with it right away. I offered to help, but he said it was a “one man job”. Well, I fell asleep on the couch and he emerged hours later finally finished! He said it was like building a piece of furniture. Like all Melissa & Doug products, this is well built and will last for years, but it will take a while to put together. My toddler loves it and it is one of the few toys my 13 year old son with play with him. My 5 year old niece couldn’t stop playing with it when she visited. So, it’s a hit for all ages. I love that it can be either an ice cream stand or hot dog stand! And, we have a very modern house and this sits prominently in our morning room because it’s such a quality looking piece. After meals, we all order “ice cream” and our son loves that!
The cart and accessories are very durable. We have had this cart in our home for a year and only small indentations are seen on various items as most items are solid wood. Now we do not have anyone that is extremely rough on the items, but it is played with constantly.
The two drawers in the cart are not only functional from the standpoint of a customer buying items in a park or the city, but ‘store’ every accessory piece included.
We had an Italian ice that was crushed during shipping, a quick call was made to the manufacturer and a week later a new Italian ice and it’s matching scooper arrived on our doorstep.
Very happy with this purchase and we highly recommend it.
