Lovely keyboard for the small Surface Go 2. I bought this to upgrade from the older version which was for the Surface Go. This version is different as it has an additional magnet just below the track pad to keep secure the keyboard against the Surface Go 2 when it is closed. However, I have found this new feature to be poor as the magnet is so weak it barely holds. It doesn’t help that the keyboard arrived slightly concave so it doesn’t fit flush against the screen. On first attaching the keyboard it was extremely stiff, so it did not hold very well in the tilted position. However, this improved after time and use and is fine now. Overall, I would recommend this keyboard as an accessory to the Surface Go 2 or 3. However, if you have larger hands or find typing on a small keyboard difficult you may want to avoid it – although there is not really a larger alternative that is attachable so you would have to use a separate keyboard connected by Bluetooth.
I ask myself why did I buy the cheap alternative first, Altec type keyboard for about 30 quid, Price, looked the same, yet a year later it the cheap alternative stopped. so, I purchase the Microsoft, this product is branded, soft damper keys, all the Microsoft option keys work seamlessly with the Go3 surface as it should do, it is a Microsoft product! keyboard has bigger palm rest area either side of the mouse pad, to make typing correct, as you can rest your hand comfortably and type with comfort, I can touch type so this is a great advantage to me, Colour is a light blue very light grey, the fabric has a felt feel, warm comfortable, I understand there are others without this felt cover more a stretched rubbery flat surface, I have tried both and prefer this fabric, Also I have had black, in contrast I prefer this light blue or very light grey felt.
Really pleased with this purchase, not cheap but has really increased my use of the Go. Its secured magnetically so quick to detach it. Nice keyboard to use and the track pad is accurate. Its a slim unit so forms a nice cover and screen protector when closed.
The product is awesome. I’m enjoying it. It’s been excellent so far, I don’t regret buying it.
Bought to pair with a Surface go tablet. MS were out of stock, so ordered on Amazon. The keyboard is easy to use, even with my stubby fingers. It protects the screen when not in use and the magnetic catch makes it easy to fit. Shame MS don’t provide with the tablet, rather than charge extra.
I admit to being surprised at just how good this keyboard is. It’s great to type-on with nicely spaced-out keys and the backlighting is superb. As you hover your hand over the keyboard the backlighting automatically turns on. The built-in mouse pad works great too.
This was purchased for use with the 2022 version of the Microsoft Surface Go 3 LTE edition and it works perfectly with the device.
Every article and review I read prior to buying a Surface Go 2 stated that the Type Cover Keyboard was an essential purchase, they were all correct.
This Keyboard is excellent. The build quality is superb and it works brilliantly. The keys looked a little close together, and obviously this is smaller keyboard than a full size one – but it’s not cramped. Within minutes you become accustomed to the layout and it never feels too small.
The keys are satisfyingly solid and give good feedback, and the track pad is very responsive. The keyboard acts as a keyboard (obviously) and also as a protective case, so although the keyboard adds to the width of the Surface Go 2, it’s not more than a dedicated cover would.
I bought the black version, which is more like a very dark grey. It’s very attractive and the backlit keys illuminate nicely so the keyboard is clear in dim light, but not ridiculously bright.
The keyboard clicks on to the tablet using magnetic contacts and is powered by the tablet, so no need to sync it or charge it separately.
In a nutshell: Sometimes a product a product impresses because it works perfectly, and this does just that. This turns the Surface Go 2 from a gimmicky tablet to a genuine laptop-style device perfect for college or light work. Microsoft have set a new benchmark for tablet keyboards.
Although the keys are compact, they are quiet. The track pad is great too and responsive. It is the perfect companion for the Surface Go or the Surface Go 2.
This original type cover does what it’s designed to do and it does it very well indeed. Son uses this plus the surface pro and pen (all bought off Amazon) in school and I’ve had neither grunts nor moans from him.
I ordered the ice blue keyboard and ice blue arc mouse. The keyboard is grey and does not match the colour of the arc mouse which is definitely a light blue. The description on the keyboard box says the alacantra is a two tone gray. I inputted the serial number on the sticker on the keyboard packing to google and it came up as ice blue. So either I have a grey keyboard in the wrong box or the ice blue is simply marketing junk I fell for. Still a lovely little keyboard. But beware it is not blue just grey
You can’t fault this – it both protects the Surface and has a truly excellent keyboard. It is a quality product and well worth paying the price over cheaper alternatives.
It doesn’t lay perfectly flat on a surface makes it a bit bumpy when used for long typings. Otherwise I am happy with it.
Fantastic for attaching to the tablet/laptop and taking it outside to write in the garden. Lightweight and the lovely suede backing makes also for a great cover when closed over the screen. Keys are extremely responsive and quiet.
I like it, even though it doesn’t fit my laptop. My laptop is Microsoft surface pro 7. So I returned it.
Great keyboard that looks nice and types well, with the advantage of a lit keyboard which makes it a great way to see what you’re typing in dim light.
The downside is it’s very expensive for what it is, and as it’s sold as a cover and due to its price it should somehow cover both the top and back of the surface go, as I’m still going to have to buy a separate cover/case as the keyboard doesn’t protect the computer itself.
Great product, but frustratingly first one supplied had a fault (double typing, capitals, and keys doing wrong functions) and I wasted some time with Microsoft support as I thought it was my settings. Amazon sent a new one which is fine.
Comfortable, barely flexes, lovely key travel. Only two problems 1. Click sound like an old mechanical keyboard (only an issue in quiet places). 2. It’s a light material, and it will get split on, mitigated that it can be wiped with a warm cloth (so that’s pretty special).
If you have a surface go you should get but look around for getting this at 90ish not more.
It is a brilliant quality keyboard, the touchpad is even bigger than the Surface Pro keyboard’s touchpad. The only aspect and annoyance that you may find yourself facing are going to the compact size of the keyboard. It is a proper keyboard, with alt, control, windows keys, arrow keys. However, it is condensed into such a small form factor. I find my hands needed to adjust when using the keyboard, however over time you get used to it, and then going back to a larger keyboard feels weird. The quality overall is very premium. Alcantara is so nice, however more prone to getting sweat stains on it than the traditional black cover. All in all, very pleased with the product, however with big hands it may feel very uncomfortable. I was able to type around140WPM with it, the distance between the keys helps since you do not have to travel far from the home row. Then again I can type 160WPM with a bigger keyboard.
The keyboard is a must have for the Surface Go, even though small keys was able to type on it well and track-pad comes in helpful. Also like the fact it has backlit keys. It is a little expensive for what it is though.
The keyboard feels high quality. I am glad I chose it. It snapped into place onto the new Surface Go and the two have been together ever since, loving and protecting each other. I don’t use a carry bag or case. You can guess what I am using to type this review.
