Our previous Motorola monitor gave up after a lot of use so we wanted to get another Motorola. This one has a nice big screen with an excellent picture. It’s very clear and the camera moves well
Mother 96 moved in with me, downstairs. Lived with my sister before, and her hearing dog would nudge her awake if mum was longer than expected in the loo. This camera does a 2nd best to Luna!
Very pleased with it. Has really good manoeuvrability which is why I chose it over others on market. Good picture quality and night vision. I don’t have it on charge for daytime naps but then have it plugged in overnight, but an alarm goes off if battery is going to run out. Being able to remotely put music on is very useful and I use it a lot! The standby settings as well as being able to just turn the screen on and off at night again is a great feature
Good monitor, we bought for ourselves but also bought one as a gift for a family member after using ours for a while.
Good quality video image for the cost of the monitor. Very clear in daylight and great night vision too, as seen by the photos – yes that is a doll not our baby! Sound quality good. It pauses the video if you hold the button to speak into it which we didn’t expect but unpauses quickly. Has options for white noise, lullabies etc. You can set the time of how long the screen displays for before goes into standby.
Has a wide span to move and view the room if required or if there are more than one child to look at. We bought a mounting arm which we fitted to a shelf and that means the camera is at the right angle – you may find it best to do this, it wasn’t expensive.
The battery life isn’t amazing, it runs down fairly quickly, would be good if it came with a second charger for downstairs but we just bring the plug down or ensure we turn the monitor off in-between naps and hasn’t been a problem really.
I used this to keep an eye on my poorly husband who was in a different bedroom. It enabled me to relax a bit more at night; so much better than just a listening device, because I could check if he was distressed without having to get up every time. Night vision was fine. I kept it plugged in most of the time, so can’t comment on the length of time the battery lasted, however it worked very well when on battery alone.
The device is good overall, but the nightvision is too sensitive. Its the middle of the summer at the moment, it’s still sunny outside, but because the crib has dark grey sheets, it thinks it’s dark, and turns on nightvision automatically, and the screen is completely washed out. Additionally, because the camera is so close, I had to tape over half the IR LEDs so it’s not too bright. I wish nightvision had a manual toggle.
Lastly, the parent unit, even on the lowest brightness is like staring into the sun, so I can’t sleep facing towards the screen.
Really easy to use video monitor. Does not require any setting up so to speak, just plug in and go. The biggest downfall for us is the range. The signal doesn’t reach the back of our garden which is maybe 40 m from the baby’s room, but there’s a few stone walls in between so it might be forgiven. The picture and sound quality is very good, but I’m not the biggest fan of the night vision. It can be way too bright if the camera placement and angle isn’t optimised. We found that placing it further away from the baby creates better night vision, but that’s not always possible if we’re e.g. staying somewhere else. Still happy with our purchase overall.
Great, great, great!!! We’ve bought this monitor after some (A LOT ) of research! We don’t regret a bit! The quality is not HD, no it’s not… but you can see your baby so clearly that I wonder what else do people want?!! Night vision is absolutely amazing! The monitor is super reliable and has a delay of less that 1sec I’d say (from the moment your baby cry until the monitor alerts you). No Wi-Fi needed = safer, screen is great and big. If it was today we would buy this one again! You don’t need a super fancy thing… just something safe and reliable to monitor your baby!!
After looking at many different products, due to security concerns with other cameras that communicate over the internet, we decided on this Motorola product. I did feel at the time that I was settling for a lesser product because it didn’t have 5 star reviews, however it seemed like the best one on Amazon in this price that had the features we wanted and from a reputable brand. I have to say I am 100% satisfied, the screen is great, we get clear and good reception in the kitchen on the ground floor when the baby is in our room on the first floor, and it is easy to operate. I don’t often leave reviews but felt I needed to boost the rating on this product. The only complaint is we have noticed is the temperature reads several degrees higher than other thermometers we have in the room, so that appears to be inaccurate. However, having said that I would buy it again if given the chance. Hope this review is helpful.
Has a nice clear image, but it needs contrast. Don’t put it too close to the cot/whatever, as it just whited out’ for me. The microphone is SUPER SENSITIVE… which is great. Don’t get the camera and monitor close to each other, though. The audio feedback builds up quickly. Nice bit of kit.
The image quality is not as good as expected.
The product page didn’t mentioned that the plug was UK version, and the item was sold to Portugal, i had to buy a plug converter to be able to use this.
Have an mbp50 brought last year (left monitor) great love it! Brought another for second baby (right monitor) clearly different monitors. Right monitor seems to be older but say MBP50 in box and monitor? Amazon please help..
The night vision isn’t great but other than that I love the monitor. Battery life is good and I like being able to move the monitor using the parent unit. It’s also great that I can talk to baby though it as well.
I like the camera and the huge display. Pan and rotate work well. Since I have twins, I have to set the camera farther to see them both, but since I can adjust the camera angle remotly, not a big problem. Maybe sound could be a bit better, but I’m picky when it comes to listen for any noise.
Great visual and audio that gives me peace of mind as a first time mum. The camera is difficult to get the right angle so we had to buy a cot attachment, but once we got that sorted it is perfect!
We researched a lot of options for baby monitor and we bought this one.
I was afraid the resolution is too small comparedto other cameras with 1080p. It turns out even this low resolution is enough to see for example the baby’s expression while it sleeps.
It is very fast to connect once you turn it on, no configuration at all, no wifi needed.
You can get an adapter cable an plug it in any USB charger or battery pack and in effect make it mobile.
Sound is perfect – I hear the clock on the wall ticking.
I would recommend to order mounting pod, it has the regular camera mount on bottom ans it would be useful to mount on the crib.
I have been using this video monitor for 6 months now and definitely like it but it is not as great as I initially thought. If I have to order again, I would get the connect version.
Pros: very easy to use, the picture quality is perfect. I absolutely live the rotation function of the camera and the womb sounds.
Cons: the parent unit disconnects from the camera and makes horrible loud beeps. This happens if there is a power outage as well so if it happens in the middle of the night, it will definitely wake you up. It makes the same horrible beeps when the battery is low so I normally start running to get a charger because it is way too loud and doesn’t stop beeping. Another con is the light on the camera unit – it even blinks from time to time which is very irritating and sometimes wakes the baby up. I had to put a sticker on it so it doesn’t disturb us.
Don’t understand why there was so many negative reviews for this. I have been using it for 9 months and have found it to be very good. Does everything you’d want it to. I would give it 5 stars except for the fact it does this really annoying beep from the monitor when it’s running low on battery which is loud enough to wake the dead.
Good clear picture, no problems with range in three storey town house with no interference from WIFI, smart meter, etc.
Some people say the charger cable is a weak point, but to be honest I haven’t moved it around much – no isses so far though
Works really well, the picture is nice and clear however the camera is obviously meant to be placed on a high elevation because if you put it right next to the cot the focal length is too close! We had to put it about a meter and a half above the cot and then we could clearly see the baby. Any closer than that and you have to move the camera all over the place. Clear picture and good audio pick up. So far we haven’t found the range of the camera to the video unit to say how far that is before it cuts out. The battery is a lot better in this model then we had on previous versions of the motorola baby monitors.
The parent unit’s screen size is great since you can see almost anything and the picture quality is very good. However it takes some secs to connect when pressing the button. All in all it’s a great monitor and a must product for parents
This is a great monitor. Me and my partner spent ages looking at the different options and eventually settled on this one. The picture is really clear, I can see when baby is sucking her dummy and breathing. The temperature display isn’t too far out either. The audio can be turned up and down and picks up the smallest of noises. The only downsides I have found are that it doesn’t come with any sort of stand/shelf and the battery life once fully charged isn’t cracking. It’s enough to watch baby from downstairs for a few hours before going to bed but when I’ve tried to keep it on during the night I have to plug it in at about 4am. This is after putting baby to bed around 8pm so I’m probably being picky as our baby is a good sleeper and it’s no chore plugging it in overnight.
I would recommend this to any parents.
3 years 2children , we have had 3 Motorola cameras.
First one 36s old version , all works fine until one year later the micro usb charging pot on the parent unit broke , so that one retired from duty. I saw a lot of similar feedback from the market for the same issue I had , the second 36s we got as a gift had actually addressed issue , micro usb plug was replaced by the original DC 6v input charging pot , we had this one for a year now, works perfectly when plugged in, battery life is pretty bad tho. 3 hour max.
This MBP50 is the latest one we bought for our new baby, I was surprised as I just received one that has the original DC 6V charging pot, not how it shows on most online pictures. I’m v happy with the purchase , battery life of this unit has significantly improved, charging pot not issue so far, operating functions have just got a lot smoother than previous models . I don’t have the issue of reception failure , works really well for me even I have 3 levels house , no issue throughout . Overall, had MBP50 for a week, well done to the manufacturer for improvement.
But strongly suggest you change the online picture of your product as it still shows this one has the USB charging pot which was the point of failure before. Why would you keep those images to put off customers.
I can’t tell you how long it took me to buy a monitor. I purchased a older Motorola model and wasn’t very impressed as the battery on the monitor died after 4 minutes, it lost signal in the adjacent room and it wasn’t at all clear. I then read further reviews and it seemed the problems I was experiencing happened with almost all baby monitors on the market. I very nearly didn’t purchase this monitor as the reviews were equally confusing. However, I am so glad I purchased this monitor as it is by far better than previous reviews have suggested. I admittedly haven’t had it very long yet and therefore there is a chance it could fail on me. At the moment though I am very impressed. It has a very long battery on the monitor, which actually tells me in minutes when I unplug it how long I should expect on the battery. It is very clear in both bright daylight, facing towards the window and in the dark. I can actually see my baby breathing. It has good connection and doesn’t lag behind at all. It doesn’t lose connection in various rooms of our thick walled Victorian house. You can also remote move the direction of the camera from the parent control, which is extremely responsive. Cheaper, higher reviewed monitors don’t have this function and I find it extremely important as baby is always on the move. Over all, I am very pleased I purchased this monitor over less known brands or even other well known brands and fingers crossed it continues to work so well.
excellent quality screen and camera – great sound – love the fact that you can move it around so that it pans left right and up and down. Only thing I would like would have been the chance to speak down the line to the camera
Edit 14/9/18
I have today received a complete product replacement and will be sending back the broken product.
I had to have a refund. But because this monitor is now more expensive than when I bought it, I have had no choice but to purchase a used monitor. I am not happy at all with this, as the product came with a 12 month warranty and I was expecting a replacement camera unit. The monitor I received today albeit the same model, is completely different. It has an antenna, a different screen and different charger. It also didn’t come in a box, just a brown Amazon one.
I was told that when I received my refund (to a gift card), I HAD to purchase the same monitor, so had no choice but to buy a used one as I wasn’t willing to pay the difference as it was in excess of 30 for a new one.
I do like the monitor and I really really hope we don’t have any other issues.
Leaving old review under this as it DID work fine…
After 9 months of using this monitor in one place (no unplugging or moving) the cable to the parent unit stopped working.
Was sent a replacement last week which works fine.
Moved 1yo daughter into her own room from her sisters room, and plugged camera unit back in. Now the camera unit has a constant solid green light and won’t connect. Followed reset advice and re-pairing advice to no avail. The camera is broken.
I am disabled and rely heavily on this monitor and until it’s fixed I’m having to sleep on my daughters floor with a leg cast on (her cotbed doesn’t fit in my bedroom, no mattress fits in her room and I have to take medication to sleep so wouldn’t hear her cry from a distance).
I have emailed Binatone urgently hoping for a swift resolution.
*********
I bought this monitor as our 5 month old daughter will be moving in to her big sisters room within a couple of weeks. We used to have a regular monitor with our first daughter but wanted extra peace of mind via video.
The monitor is well packaged and looks pretty well made. Very handy that the parent unit has a flip out stand which sits at a good angle. The battery life is also good; I can leave her for two hours having a nap and the battery hasn’t gone down a bar yet.
The wires are long enough for us from plug to devices.
The actual camera itself certainly isn’t HD quality but you can see clear enough (my attached picture is blurry as taking a picture of a screen). Both the night and day output shows baby breathing clearly. It is helpful for us to be able to have the ability to move the camera to look around the room so we can also keep an eye on our other daughter. There is obviously a slight delay from pressing the button to the camera moving but it works!
The only thing which annoys me is the built in lullabies; they are so loud! I don’t think they can be turned down either and they actually keep our baby awake rather than send her to sleep. Not a problem though as we already have a toy which plays softer lullabies.
All in all I would recommend this monitor.
This is a great baby monitor.
Pros:
Nice big screen: Makes it easy to see small movements even with the low res.
Night vision: This is very effective even a few metres away.
Sound indicator: The first light flashes up even at low sounds and there are more lights to indicate a louder sound, this gives you quite a clear idea of what’s going on without having to be glued to the video view.
Point-to-zoom: Being able to remotely move the camera is a fantastic feature especially if you have more than one child to monitor. The motor is a little buzzy but quiet enough that it doesn’t wake or grab baby’s attention.
Microphone on the camera: This is good enough for the intended purpose.
Cons:
Low video resolution: This is a real shame, you have a nice big screen and to not take advantage of that and pack in a few more pixels seems like a wasted opportunity. That said, you can still see even small movements so it’s not a deal breaker.
Talkback from the monitor to the camera: This is so quiet coming out at the camera end that this feature is actually pointless.
Built-in music: The break from the end of a tune or ‘soothing’ sound and the start of it on loop is so abrupt it’s actually startling, this is exasperated by how loud this feature is.
