I bought this mower from Mountfield as they had an offer on at the time. Being constantly frustrated by my Bosch battery mower which lacked power; the motor groaned even cutting through short grass with the battery needing to be crecharged after less than 20 mins and poor quality blades which needed frequent sharpening, I decided to take the plunge and opt for an electric mower. Having had a Mountfield in the past I have not been disappointed. Once you have battled your way through the microscopic diagram instructions, finally giving up altogether and taking a problem solving approach particularly with the grass box, there are very few cons such as both plugs fall out easily and the handle doesn’t fold down. Pros; you have a smart looking machine, the grass box slides easily into place; excellent cutting blade with a robust metal cutting height adjustment system. As part of no mow May and the first cut of the year with grass at well over a foot tall, the mower speedily cut its way through despite the grass being damp deep down. Over all I’m very pleased with the mower and would recommend it.
My husband loves it and is now mowing more than he used to
Only used it once but it did a lovely job, even on the longer grass on a large area. Up to now it’s very impressive
The worst instructions I have ever seen. You have to go by instinct.
My Lawnmower broke and I needed a quick fix before people came round to view our house. The mower came next day , it was super quick to assemble and so easy to use.
What great bang for my buck!
Great little lawnmower. Came well packed with easy to follow instructions. The perfect lawnmower for small to medium sized gardens. Would highly recommend.
Mountfield are a recognised company when it comes to lawn mowers. More recognisable for petrol and this looks to be an additional range of now electric lawnmowers. The advert can be misleading when it’s advertised as cordless when clearly it’s powered via the mains.
Also a lot of people complain that the plug Lee falling out but I experienced no problem at all with the plug connector.
From the start the only negative I have was with the instructions. The mower arrived in a huge box and was completely disassembled so you needed clear instructions to put the mower together. The main issue with the instructions were how small the pictures were it made it difficult to spot where screws went etc.
once put together the mower is really well designed and made and I love the fact that it folds down to almost a cube making it easy to store in a cupboard outside freeing up room in the shed.
In use the mower is small so I don’t recommend it for large gardens but mine is tiny so this mowers perfect for my needs, (less than 40ft square).
Having had various other mowers over the years the one attribute I love is how easy it is to higher or lower the blade, it’s adjustable via a lever on the side of the base. No more mucking around removing wheels or fiddling with bars under the wheels this is literally moving a handle that takes seconds.
The mower also collected all the grass no unwanted spillage unless the box became full as normal. But if you went back over the grass spills after emptying the grass box it collected it all up. Really impressed with the the whole experience and highly recommend.
We have a small front yard and a small backyard. A big mower isn’t necessary. This mower is perfect. I had only used gas mowers in the past, but the cord is easy to maneuver and I got used to it quick. The set up is simple, yet strong. Easy to turn on.
This Mountfield Electress 34 Lawnmower is very good. It is priced at 103.99 and so is a good purchase if you don’t want to spend too much to mow your grass. It was very easy to put together and seems to be made of excellent quality material. It does say that it is an electric cordless lawnmower but when it arrived I found it had a core which I didn’t not mind at all. Cord or battery it would have to be connected at some point right? Not a big issue for me. Very easy to use. Coped with my auntie’s lawn with no issue.
I was of the impression I was ordering a cordless mower but it is corded. The cord is shorter than our aged lawnmower but I have a 10m extension so the length isn’t a problem. Assembling the lawnmower is fairly easy, just that the manual is poorly written, and the font size needs a magnifying glass.
It cuts well, is easy to adjust and is light so easy to use.
Being fair I shall review this as is and not as the cordless mower that was offered and requested.
This is an electric cable lawnmower. Some assembly was required but the instructions were not fit for the purpose, being both tiny and unintelligible. I downloaded the same instructions from the manufacturer’s website so I could at least enlarge them to a readable size. After about an hour of faffing around it was ready to use.
It’s a clean and neat looking mower with a solid and easy to use height adjustment. I set it to the second lowest mow height and it cut the grass efficiently. The collector box proved to be a lot smaller than my previous mower so had to be emptied several times despite only having a small lawn.
The power is provided by a thick heavy cable which connects via a 2 pin plug near the power lever. This provides good protection from accidental cutting but the weight meant it pulled itself out several times during normal usage which was quite annoying.
On the whole i’d recommend this over for a small lawn but the small collector box makes it unsuitable for larger areas of grass.
First the bad aspects. I thought I’d requested a cordless mower so was disappointed when I received a corded one. So do check you read the description carefully to make sure you get what you want.
Second the instructions to put it together are totally inadequate. It was only comparing it with the lawnmower I got last year that I worked out how to put the handle together.
One odd aspect is the power cable seems a bit loose in the socket and can easily pull out. But there is a good aspect to the power cable as if you accidentally run over the cable you should be able to quite easily replace just the cable – last year I had to hunt around you tube to find out how to reapir a mower when I’d done exactly this.
On to the good points. I quite like the pretty solid leave for adjusting the height. It seems to have quite a few settings. So far I’ve only used it on the longest one as I am tackling the lawn after “No Mow May”. It does seem to be doing a really good job better than the leading brand I bought last year. It also copes with the small slopes in my garden quite well. The grass catcher seems wuite solid and seems to work well.
So it is a nice little law mower if you want a corded one. (My garden is the small side of medium in size, and I do have an extension leave to reach all areas.)
ot sure if people are reading this wrong of are getting confused, it clearly states that its wired .although there is other products on the same page that use batteries, maybe its the word Electress as i must admit to me that word gives the impression of using a battery and not electric as in electric less.

I ordered this lawnmower for my Garden.
Arrived in strong cardboard box, required basic assembly that took about 10mins but is self explantory.
I was really happy with the quality of this lawnmower for just 110. Very robust and well made.
Cleared now advertised as corded electric Lawnmower and that is what I got.
The long cord is plugged into the 2 pin slot on handle, make sure not to stand on cable as you will pull out lead and mower turns off. Can be annoying this does require a lock feature to ensure cable can not be pulled out by mistake.
Lightweight lawnmower with large round plastic wheels, doesn’t help you with motion requires you to provide 100% of effort to move lawnmower forward doesn’t move on it’s own.
Overall, this is a good value lawnmower that works very well with 6 different cutting heights. Only issue I have is electric cord is not fixed to lawnmower and it is easily pulled out.
I would recommend this product.
Mountfield electress is a fairly okay corded mower, but was being advertised as a cordless, so not sure what happened there. The advert is now showing corded so that’s a bonus it taken me a while to write this review as the weather has been awful, so I haven’t been able to mow since it arrived. The quality is good for the price, but I have seen others that are better for similar prices, the thing I do like is the cutting height, its very easy to use and super handy.
Good, lightweight mower. Suitable for small gardens. Does tend to clog in the grass cuttings box.
This is a review of the corded model. It’s excellent and really good value. It adjusts easily, has lots of power and cuts cleanly and neatly, sucking up all it cuts neatly into the excellent solid collecting box (this being a solid box makes it so much easier to use and I am sure it will last far longer than the fabric style that are more common). I might have wished for a roller to give a striped look, but, really, overall, this is a good buy.
