Perfect network switch: easy to install (unpack, insert plugs, power on, done! Very sturdy metal case, quality feel and once fitted it simply works! Totally quiet, too. Like the very best electrical gear, once fitted you can forget it’s there. Perfect.
Great product easy set up, just note it’s a 24 port . Great produc
This is an absolute no-brainer. You plug network cables in & stuff just works, first time, continually, straight out of the box. I’ve got new kit, legacy stuff & an AV1300 Powerline link connected, & it all works perfectly with zero issues. Solid as a rock & perfect to form the heart of the wired part of a home network.
High quality switch.
Ok much more expensive than the cheaper ones but this will last years.
Great quality metal case.
Fits well on my shelf and gives unrestricted ethernet speed direct from the router. It is a lot better than the restricted versions.
It does what it says on the box, quietly and without fuss.
Plug and Play.
What more could you want.
compact switch, easy to install, perfect for home or small office.
Easy to connect all my network cables, well made very pleased.
This product was exactly what was needed to allow me to connect all my AV equipment to the internet. Plug it in & its ready.
Straight out of the box, plug it in and no confusing problems.
Great product – I have no idea what it does – but the coms guy asked us to get i
Solved all my connectivity problems. If unsure how to go about it, seek professional advice.
Very good product which replaced my older TP-Link Switch which used a fan. This Netgear Switch is fanless and the silence is wonderful.
You can’t beat metal-cased Netgear switches. The screw slots allowed me to mount this on the back of my desk. As a result it takes up less space than the 8-port switch it was replacing.
Plug it in, add the network cables and off it goes. Not issues.
Plug and play with nothing to think about, and super reliable so far. Design with the lights and ports both on the same side is exactly what you want if you have a central network shelf or rack.
Nowadays, you get yourself a wireless router, with around 3-4 ports on the rear, I think some even come with 1-2, but man, I’ve got around 9 pieces of equipment that I like to have wired. Wireless is great, but that’s convenience, wired will always be better and more reliable. So, I had to make a decision, have a ton of wireless settings to sort or just get one of these and a handful of patch leads, fixed, forever, no loss of connection.
Bought this a couple months ago and so far I have been really impressed. Its used in our office supplying 8 desks and 3 phones and everything has been super smooth. Our ping has improved from our last switch witch was only 8 ports in total. Would defo recomend this to anyone wanting a simple plug and play solution.
I purchased this to connect various smart home hubs; Hue, OWl, Geo, AV Sender, A printer and a PC to a single router rather than have multiple boxes.
The hub is unmanaged so you cannot login and change stuff etc.
The case is metal which is much better than plastic. It has mounting holes on the back but I did not use these I instead used double sided tape to fix it.
This has helped me on numerous customer server installs at times when all I need is a clean network between the server node and my host machine for installation. I take it around with me in my backpack.
No issues to report. We have wired up 10 laptops to one main laptop to create a virtual internet environment for training purposes.
Working perfectly so far as the centre of my home network, installed in my loft. Wall mountable in any orientation, with fixings provided. Fanless operation so shouldn’t suck in too much dust. Clear LED indicators. Throughput is exactly as expected.
Update, July 2022:
Four years on and the switch is still working perfectly. It has been in constant operation without a single blip or restart. My biggest concern was the wide variation in temperature in my loft throughout the year, but it has coped with no issues whatsoever.
This has replaced a 8 port Netgear switch which was struggling to cope with the amount of data being sent through it. It’s much better with auto sensing speeds it is handling traffic much more intelligently.
What more can you ask? Plug n play, works solidly, been in situ for a couple of months and no issues other than when my son accidentally unplugged it….!
Note to self, when diagnosing problems, start with the simple things first g
I bought this to finally make the move away from a pair of cheaper plastic hubs that always seemed to need turning off & on again, along with ditching some mains ethernet plugs & going to CAT6 around the house. Completely solid performance now. No jitters, no reboots needed. Recommended!
Cracking switch, all metal with excellent throughput and very low latency. Never even gets warm and is silent and fanless. I’ve still got two of their old10/100 switches in the same style … and despite being about a decade old and fairly beaten up through travel they’ve never given me any problems.
This gigabit switch continues in the same vein. It’s good rock solid dependable gear and I heartily recommend it to anyone whos looking for gear that looks great and will last.
Comes with four good rubber feet which stick firmly into slightly recessed circles on the underside and the unit doesnt slip or slide despite using heavy cat6 cables (you can leave these feet off if attaching to a wall with the wall-slots engineered into the underside)
Overall this is great gear, top build quality and well thought out. Well worth the money, especially compared to the nasty light plastic units with crappy backplanes that are cluttering up the market ATM.
V. happy with my purchase : )
Easy to set up – just plug and play. Well made, robust unit, which handles all that is asked of it. Some room for expansion if required – I have added an additional 4 port unit – works for me.
Very easy to set up – just connect and forget. It is surprisingly small and unobtrusive for a 16-port box.
I like Netgear products but they don’t help themselves by clearly differentiating between the possible alternatives in their literature. At the time of buying these were: GS316, GS116Uk, and JGSS16-200EUS. You have to read the small print to find out that the other two are older versions and don’t support the latest protocols. The last one, JGSS16, has a fan which immediately made it a no-no in my home office. Recommended.
Perfect. Bought it. Plugged it in. It worked. Picks up all my gear with no issue and happily recognised 100mb and 1gb peripherals with no fuss. Simply using it to extend the number of ports on the back of a virgin router.
Needed to replace two older Netgear switches with a single unit to reduce traffic being pushed through a single uplink port. Perfect unit, very compact and ideal for the slightly awkward space it has to live in. Speeds in excess of 100MB/s between devices at any point on my network is finally a reality!
I bought this because I needed more than 8 connections. It’s very good and I really notice the increased speed of GB compared to my old switch.
