A very useful piece of kit. Easy to set up and the separate guest network is really what I bought it for, as it’s in an Airbnb above my office so the bedroom gets for guest network, broadcast at 500+ Mb/sec (faster than the internet connection) while the main office network happens securely downstairs. Lights are bright white but can be turned off. Useful outputs for Smart TV and so forth
Brought this as a replacement to extend Wi-Fi rear of garden bar/office

A broadband upgrade to FTTP, and a consequent requirement to relocate my router closer to the fibre entry point, created a difficulty for connection of my several Ethernet devices. I researched wi-fi range extenders which could replicate the Ethernet ports I had on my previous router, in the location they were needed, and discovered the Netgear EAX20. I had no guarantee that it would work in the way I needed it to, but I took a chance and purchased one anyway. Initially things didn’t go well since, although the EAX20 could see my Ethernet devices, my devices couldn’t see the Internet. So there were several days with connection issues but most of the hiccups were actually caused by the Netgear EAX20 not linking consistently to the new router. With great assistance from Netgear support however, a number of trial and error and troubleshooting techniques, together with several EAX20 reboots, those issues were resolved and everything just clicked into life. My network via the EAX20 is really fast and I am delighted with the result. In simple terms the Netgear EAX20 has given me everything I hoped it would in replicating the connectivity I had with my previous home network. I can highly recommend Netgear Nighthawk products and support.
I went through a lot of Wi-Fi extenders and this one did me the best kept the signal and the download and upload speeds the same as my normal router really recommend this if people are not getting a signal or losing signal in games this really makes the difference really worth the money don’t go out wasting your money on cheap extenders because you might as well get your money and Property out the window spend it on something more like this really worth i

Well I disided to upgrade the WiFi in the house to the full netgear nighthawk system router and exstenders I have to say once its set up properly the system seems to be outstanding the Internet speeds in the house has a massive improvement from say 100mbps to 260mbps plus everyone in the house can now stream 4k and game at same time the system does take a little setting up but once done seems very good set up I would give 3 start but once done it’s a 5 star system also don’t be put off with set up any problems u can speak to netgear and there a grate help with assisting u
Excellent device EAX20 did the job as described very easy to install took me roughly 5 minutes, already have a good coverage at home as my boy was complaining regarding weak signal on his PlayStation upstairs. I was able to use ethernet cable going out from the extender to the PlayStation Direct. I was getting roughly 30/70 mbs per second before now I am getting over 180/200 mbs and now excellent coverage upstairs all around.
The wifi coverage is great and that’s what is really important to me, but setting it up was a bit of a ‘mare.
I had an existing Nighthawk M62 mesh network and wanted to add the extender to the network. Adding it wasn’t as easy as I thought, or maybe it was, the problem is that I couldn’t tell you what I did to get it to finally work. I kept using the app and hoping to see the extender appear on there, or maybe it would show as a satellite, and I couldn’t see it.
Eventually I noticed that all of the lights were lit on the front of the box, so I tested it by plugging a pc into one of the network ports and the pc had internet.
This is a great device only let down by the insistence that you need to use the app wizard installer.
Both of my nighthawk router installations failed the first time and I had to do a factory reset for the app to pick them up and add them to my account.
Great piece of kit, let down by a ropey app.
As a retired IT consultant I am not exactly a newbie but their setup instructions were so poor in the end I simply ignored their quick setup guide and paired Router and Extender using the WPS buttons
Once I did this it connected with no fuss and works well.
I received the EAX-20 (AX1800) yesterday and I had purchased it due to issues with an existing four year old BT Wholehome mesh System which was not handling multiple video streams at all well, despite now having a 300mb internet connection. I have now replaced three BT discs with the EAX-20 and the quality and reach of the WIFI 6 connection is fantastic. With a single extender i have zero dead spots and testing showed that my setup (including the router, of course – also WIFI 6) can handle multiple streams as well as all other types of data handling. Even the phone App works though the web interface is much better, giving more options. One last thing to mention is that my router is made by Technicolour and the Extender uses the same SSID as well as allowing seamless movement when moving around the house (with Phone. Tab etc). Early days but initial impression of the EAX-20 is good.
Whilst I already have pretty good wifi coverage at home, some of my grey boxes are unable to use wifi and need a physical connection. The sockets in the EAX20 work perfectly. I have tried using smaller cheaper units from other manufacturers but my experience of the set up and longevity has been poor. This was easy and intuitive to install, and a much cheaper option than replacing my grey boxes with more up to date models, especially as they still work perfectly.
Great bit of kit. Has done wonders for the wifi signal in our house!
Easy to set up and boosted wi-fi signal throughout the house and garden. We have numerous tech items using the wi-fi for all the family and the congestion is greatly improved with the new wi-fi 6.
Got this because I needed to extend my WiFi in the house and it does exactly as it states on the box. Also my laptop picked up WiFi 6 straight away.
Since getting it I have not had any problems with networking in the house.
This was very straight forwards. I added it using an ethernet cable to the top floor of my property and now have great wireless connectivity all over my three storey home. The sotware was easy to use and automatically worked out it had an ethernet (rather than wireless mesh) connection to deal with. Getting 300mb plus on the next floor down opposite end of the house which is awesome!
had bad wifi signal across a multi-storey house with the router based on top floor. Installed the extender – installation was easy and done within 10 minutes. resolved all issues with good signal across the house and into the garden.
Great bit of kit, 5 minute setup couldn’t be easier! I now have WiFi not only everywhere in my house but even to the bottom of my garden! Great connection and lightning fast speeds. No drop outs so far 🙂

One area of my house had particularly poor WiFi coverage. I tried a different (cheaper) extender prior to buying this device, but it kept losing the connection. I returned the other extender and bought this device, not sure if it would work, but it does!
What I would say is don’t rush when going through the setup wizard, and take the time to make sure that the settings are correct. In particular, if you have a dual or tri band network which you are extending, and your 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks use the same network name and password, make sure you check the “same password” box and enter it correctly. I mistyped the password, then ended up resetting the extender and restarting the setup wizard.
Once the extender has been configured using the Nighthawk app there’s not much else to do in the app, especially if the extender is the only Nighthawk device on your network. Once you’ve confirmed that it’s working OK (it can take a while for the app to update to show which devices have connected to the extender), it’s basically a case of set it and forget it.
This was purchased to replace power line adaptors and improve the network speed in a dead zone of the house. This has improved the speed by over double and it’s improved the network coverage around the lower level of the house. This was very easy to setup.
This was very easy to set up I’m now running multiple devices, great for streaming, gaming and watching 4k Movies.
It is so easy to setup using the amp and the use of web explorer no contact with tech support was required and gives a good signal around our old house with solid brick walls
This is the second Netgear WiFi extender we have purchased for our church. The first was to cover the church itself and this one is to cover the church hall. Easy to set up either by pressing the connection button on the router followed by the one on the EAX20 or using the Nighthawk app. What I particularly like is the white/amber/red led that signifies the router signal which helps when placing the extender. Coverage is great.
I have been looking for an extender to go with my nighthawk XR1000 and found this one. It was very straightforward to setup and i had no problems. I now have great internet downstairs and upstairs and no more kids moaning.
So far, so good. Prior to getting it, I was getting a lot of drop outs and slow downs but, since I put it in, all the problems are resolved.
It could be smaller. That is the only gripe – an USB charging rather than a plug.
Can’t comment on the support because didn’t need to use it – no problems.
