It has an app where you can check the speed and you can also block websites and apps on it, it also shows the speed of your Wi-Fi best purchase I’ve made

Works perfectly. Like others I have read in these reviews I had problems connecting to the internet via ethernet but was able to overcome this by connecting to the mains via the supplied power supply.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReally fab little router. Bought it to replace the appalling one provided by Virgin in the UK. Really simple to setup and use and most importantly the Wi-Fi throw is more than up to the task of getting Wi-Fi to all the corners of my small three-bed house. Brilliant.

Brilliant product A1 for design & construction just plug & play, but remember to download the App & register your product after creating an account on the Netgear website.

    Very pleased with my item.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter alot of research, I decided to bite the bullet and buy the MR1100 for our motorhome. This has easily been the best decision I have made in a while, we now have fast unlimited WiFi for all our devices with added security and a comprehensive app for complete control. If we go on a vacation without the motorhome our router easily fits in your pocket, making it truly portable. An excellent purchase well worth the money. Go on treat yourself you won’t be disappointed!!!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve had issues with VM Hub 3 since I got it- it’s not fit for purpose, and have had to reset it so many times to get the signal back up. As a modem, the Hub 3 works fine- and this Netgear router is outstanding in terms of performance and range. You get the two bandwiths (2ghz & 5ghz) and the option of setting up a guest wifi- the app that accompanies it is really useful and you can access the router remotely, as well as see all devices online and control usage as required (never disconnected one, but it’s nice to have the option if it gets too busy). Finally getting the performance my ISP advertises, just not through their kit. I got it on a discount, and while 90 seemed a lot to fork out for wireless router, it’s recommended- I live in a near 200 year old terraced house and signal works at least 100 feet from the house and on all floors. Absolutely zero issues with setup once the modem was sorted (not a netgear issue).

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought a D-link 4g router before this which was rubbish. It had a file-size download limit of 2GB which confused me for days, investigating all options of what caused failed downloads, until i learnt the router itself was causing it. This one has been great. The battery does not last long, but for home, mains use where fibre is not available it’s great, i’ve had speeds of up to 70 or 80gbps using it.

This piece of kit is a amazing. My virgin router kicks out about 400mbps yet I’m getting nearer 900mbps with this. Netgear clearly better than the rubbish supplied by Virgin media.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI use this for our Campervan for work. I’ve previously just tethered my phone to my computer but have stayed in places with minimal or very slow signal. I am delighted at the internet speed this produces for both my equipment but also my wife’s and the way it gets a better reception. My tip to other users is to use a different SIM card provider to their phone (to increase availability of mobile reception) and to place this device as high as possible in the Campervan. I use a payg SIM card from EE which for 50 which gives 120gb over a 12 month period but depends on your use. The speed makes you want to use it even if your mobile does have a decent signal.

Bought this to replace my virgin media router as I was getting terrible signal around the house. Put the VM router into modem mode, plugged it into this router, downloaded the app to configure it and it’s working perfectly. So pleased.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIts a netgear router by default, don’t expect an overcomplicated GUI…

Automatic set up will set the basics to get online and then you can do the more advanced stuff in the advanced tab and then reboot with no need to ever go there again…

GUI options include the option to disable Lights, Which will be super helpful if the router is not hidden after full set up…

Default IP is standard Netgear 192.168.1.1… So is likely to clash with many ISP “hubs” so will need changing..

Default password is set per router and as now normal in tiny text but is a “keywords” sentence not scrambled letters and numbers, this makes login way better for the first time..
You are forced to change it the very first boot off router connection …

You do get a cheap Ethernet cable in the box still…

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf you have broadband by virgin, this is a must buy their substandard equipment doesn’t give you the service you pay for, this has given me no dropout areas in my home (3 bed semi) at all, every speed-test I’ve done I’m getting the speeds I pay for with this absolute gem of a router. Set up is extremely easy to with the nighthawk app, a little note to add rename your new router with your virgin equipment names so all your devices automatically connect to your new router. Cannot recommended this router highly enough.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’m sure a number of technically-minded people will point out devices as good/cheaperhowever I was looking for a portable high-speed device to enable connectivity of non-SIM devices (e.g. iPad, laptop) to enable remote-working and streaming of video-content in the car (including as an alternative to the cars own inbuilt hot-spot option) and other non-office / home locations. So far this has lived up to expectations. I have been able to access and download large files remotely with speed and run a Teams call (while also connecting a second device) without lag or interruption from the lower-ground level of a London hotel. This has proved to be a by far more reliable and faster option than the publicly available wifi options (as well as being more secure). It is small, so is easily carried in a bag, or left in the armrest storage of the car, with very good battery life. The small screen is helpful in displaying signal strength, battery strength, number of devices connected as well as the device code to allow other authorised users (e.g. family / colleagues) / devices to connect. Setup was also pretty simple. Overall very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGot this one to go full-time broadband replacement at home.

Plugged in EE simcard, set-up took about 3 minutes and it is up and flying. On average 4 bars gives us 50 mbps on Wednesday afternoon (I guess this is when network got throttled at its hardest), so will let it play for week or two and see how it is, if not – I will add external antennas, not a big deal.
Solid unit, easy to setup, plenty of settings inside and nice design.

Update after 2 weeks of use.

I went for external antenna, – getting ~120 mbps depending on weather. Because we use it to connect around 10 devices it was overheating a bit, so after quick Google for solution we took the battery out and sorted more powerful power source for it. End of the story, it does the job behind the computer screen and never been seen again, uptime 1 week and counting.

After suffering from daily connection issues with our virgin super hub, I decided to buy this router and use the super hub in modem modem. I only wish I’d done this earlier! What a fantastic router which has allowed us to use multiple (18-25) devices with zero connectivity issues. A must when wfh whilst others are streaming throughout the day. Thank you netgear for a fantastic product!

Totally fed up with Virgin’s Supplied router on the WiFi side of things ( a “Chocolate Tea Pot”). Solution NETGEAR AX-1800 it has whistles and bells but just have a single Access Point to start with linked with the Nighthawk sw it’s a breeze you can monitor each individual devices connection speed check vulnerabilities add a separate guest sign-in and a lot more. Yes of course you can split the band’s but let the RAX10 do all this for you. Great bit of kit well worth the money-Do yourself a favour let it take all the stress away!!

Purchased this router as the Virgin Media HUB3 Modem/Router did not seem to be able to handle 2 people working from home (Known issue with that particular model’s Wi-Fi) and connections were constantly dropping out, forcing frequent device reboots.

The RAX10/AX1800 has completely resolved all Wi-Fi performance issues and gives good coverage to all rooms in my small house, without the need for any repeaters. The Netgear app make changing settings very easy, and I was able to give the device the old routers SSID and password, so all my devices connected without any problems. The ISPs device was switched into Modem only mode, as per their instructions and connected with an ethernet cable.

My only complaint with this particular model, is the abundance of status lights. There are 5 bright green LEDs, which flash constantly when connected. This must be have been considered by Netgear as there is an option to turn off all but the power status light, but one must be comfortable accessing the advanced settings via a web browser, as that is how I found the option to turn them off.

I did find that my Xbox was suffering lag/dropped packets in online gaming, but it appeared that the corner I had placed it in was the worst point in the house for Wi-Fi signal (as per a signal measuring app), moving it a few feet to the other side of the desk fixed this problem; so this router is only suitable for smaller houses.

Increase speed on mobile from 1.6 to 20mb in pretty poor signal area connected to external aerial and more in good signal area, i have had 60mb without aerial IE portable and do believe more to be had. can be Little tricky to set up but anyone could do it and once set up very simple you just connect as with any other WI-FI connection. Even has Ethernet connection. Portable as well and can plug in without using battery which is handy. Overall would recommend this product. Only downside it is a little pricey for what it is and haven’t rated tech support as not used as ye

This has improved our download speeds and connectivity in the far corners of the house. It was really easy to set up with the phone app and has put a new lease of life into our Virgin hub. I wish we had got one at the start of lockdown because I could have avoided all of the stress in Teams and Zoom meetings when the signal dropped out.

Living in an early 20th century solidly-built house, Home WiFi throughout the three stories has been a challenge……..until now: AT LAST, the download speeds I pay Virgin Media for are achieved thanks to my new NETGEAR 4-Stream AX1800 WiFi 6 Router (RAX10). 200+ upstairs…….thank you NETGEAR!!!

We all have iPhone 11 or newer, so we have WiFi 6, we can finally experience the strength of 6 since we got our router. The virgin media hub 3 not only is poor at sending a decent signal but it also cuts out very often. I thought this was my ISP turns out it was actually the router itself because since having my Netgear I have much strong signal, much stronger range, and much more reliability in my internet. On the virgin media hub 3 the PS5 was speed testing at 103 down and 8 up. With Netgear router it is now maxing at 211 down and 31 up. Great upgrade throughout the home.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersResearched this device to make sure it was fully compatible with our ISP (Virgin Media(Hub 3)) and then ordered.
    Arrived quickly.
Set it up using the Nighthawk app which is easy to navigate. Opened my VM hub’s UI and set it to modem only and then finished set-up on the Nighthawk app. Fairly pain-free installation apart from a few niggles with our AV and VPN which were solved easily enough (which is amazing considering its having to communicate with Virgin Media junk)
The WiFi throughout the home (3 bed semi) before installing this router was awful, patchy and slow (have 500mb VM package) and Virgin Media’s solution was 2 plug-in boosters which is ok until you placed them in another room wherein they lost connection!
The WiFi after booting up the Netgear router was great, good connection throughout the home with average 400-720mb wifi test speeds.
I use this router in conjunction with a Netgear WiFi extender which enables great connection and speed in our garden some 30m and 2 solid walls away from where the extender is situated.
Feel aggrieved I had to go to this length and cost but at the same point wish I had done this years earlier.

Highly recommended (especially if you are a Virgin Media non Hub 5 user)!

Firstly, Build quality and feel in the hand are very good. The M1 is a nice looking piece of equipment.
Secondly, Ease of set up is very good. The manual is adequate and the steps can be followed with relative ease.
Thirdly and most importantly, Performance. Early days to have any real information on this aspect of the router really. I am running my the router with an O2 Data Only sim supplied by “Govivo” (Excellent Service) and with a Poynting Antenna, I had good results in a previously very intermittent data download area.
In summary, nice quality, so far good performance But quite a high price tag (260) when you compare with some other routers on the market bearing in mind it is a 4G only route

I bought this to replace a 4 year old Netgear Router (d6220) that was starting to lock up on a daily basis. The AX1800 was a pain to set up but that’s because my modem was non standard (a modem router configured to modem only mode) and the AX1800 wouldn’t see the BT Internet connection. However, that was my fault. This router will work out of the box (only need the standard BT username and password configured on the router) with the standard BT VDSL modems such as the Huawei or Draytek Vigor 130 – I tested both. The Wi-fi signals are strong all around a four bedroom modern house – I.e. thin walls. I noticed compared to my old netgear router the 5ghz wireless is about as good but the 2.4ghz Wi-fi is much better on the AX1800 achieving full broadband speeds all around the house which the old router couldn’t achieve. The router user interface via a browser is fast to load and navigate. I’ve got over 40 devices connected (mostly Wi-fi plugs and lights) and it can cope with them without a hiccup. I’ve noticed that web pages load more quickly too even though latency and Wi-fi speed is no better than my old router. Perhaps because the new router has more memory and more and faster CPUs. Only minor quibble is it has no power switch (which my older router had) and no USB port which in all honesty I don’t use anyway. It also runs warm and not hot to the touch like my old router. Gaming wise it has a good stable low ping connection and no lag. And one thing I like about Netgear routers, and why I buy them, is I always achieve open Nat with just the uPnP enabled (for some other brands I’ve tried this has been a pain to achieve).

This is one honest review from a guy who travels a lot and always ends up in the worst dead spots with work ARMY ! . I needed to put an end to no signal with any smart phone, after watching several videos online I began to notice a pattern with the devices people chose, and they all recommended The Netgear Nighthawk M1. So I went ahead and purchased one just last week. I was sceptical as I couldn’t even get 4G on my phone without going outside 20- 30 meters or so , and then it was intermittent. So it arrived and I plugged it in and downloaded the Netgear app and followed the instructions and booooooom I got 4G in my room ! Then it sed 4G+ ? I did a quick speed test on my phone and it was far better than my broadband at home !!!!!! I know this is a bit of a read but hopefully Iv helped someone with there issues of no signal dead spot, I have taken this home and tested it against my internet provider which was around 65MBS NETGEAR – 100MBS !! I have now cancelled my broadband ! Thank you Netgear I don’t know how you don it but your devices are epic and I could talk to my family and steam movies in a dead spot for over 3 months deployment!!!!

A bit difficult to set up (they want you to use the app, but you can force it to use your laptop) but once it’s running it’s a pretty good basic Wifi 6 router. Better than CCP-owned companies with backdoors and at a lower price too

    Pros:

Wifi 6 speeds and device handling (no more dropped smarthome devices as with Wifi 5)
    Good signal quality/range

    Cons:
    Ugly
Lots of flashing lights on the front, but these can be switched off in the setup options

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter a house move this device hold load of 35+ different devices (computers, phones, tablets, smart devices). Generally planned to use as temporary/backup internet line for working from home, after house move (for no more than 2 – 3 days), but due to lockdown have to wait engineer visit for more than 1 month to get broadband installation. So use it as a primary internet line for a noticeable period of time. Do not use it as a router, only as a modem with pfSense router / Linksys Velop. Used with external antenna (Poynting 4G-XPOL-A0001 Cross Polarised 4G Omni LTE Antenna). An external antenna is more than recommended if modem stays indoor only as it increases the signal level and total speed. Speed varies during the day from 75Mbps down to 8Mbps on busy time (with external antenna) signal level 2-3 bars and around 10 – 2Mbps without – signal level 1 bar or no bars, so if your primary router support traffic management it really helps split traffic from important to less important during a busy time. The device handles around 30-60 Gb daily. Not always best speed, during the busy time we have to get an agreement which going to use the line as a primary person / who is secondary (kids almost always last) and adjust policies on the router. The device holding load 24/7 for a month for the whole household. If you do not have options, with its own limits can be used as a primary internet line. Consider checking cell map to find best or nearest cell mast. For signal level boost It may be beneficial if you get own mast for external antenna (not tested).

Update: I got 2.5-meter mast for antenna and signal level and speed improved. So I got now 90 – 320Mbps with (3-4 bars Fair or Good signal levels). The web interface on modem provides numeric value/signal level, that you can use to adjust / point antenna close to cell direction. I got an omnidirectional antenna, and my cell not very close to the house and I don’t get a direct view to it. With the directional antenna, you can get better results (not tested, but I believe so). Used it in daily camping outside the city. Kind of nice experience to take the internet with you. Very happy with the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI purchased this purely for its size and ability to accept Ethernet, I have had no issues with signal or setup which took minutes, battery lasts a 12 hour shift of constant use but I normally keep it plugged in, If you don’t require Ethernet then I can’t help but think a much cheaper option is available, my colleague used a smaller Huawei hotspot that was 30 and I never saw a difference in speed, I have also had no issues with the app for using it which gives a lot of features, if you need a high end router with many options and features then this one is up there, it could be cheaper but it’s a known brand and gives many features for in-depth network control, for context I use it in my converted sleeper van with my desktop computer for gaming online, all in all, could be cheaper but had no issues in 2 months of constant use.
