I liked the fact that it covers all of my legs.
I did not like – anything.
I used it for – covering my legs when using my chainsaw (and partied!)
Easy to put on and take off and not too ho
Really happy with these chaps. Wearing something that is capable of stopping a chainsaw, or at least limiting its damage, may always be a compromise. These chaps are quite heavy, and constrict movement somewhat, but if that keeps my legs intact it’s a price I’m happy to pay. Once they’re on, and you start moving around, you do tend to forget you’re wearing them, and that you’ve had to fasten 9 plastic clip-buckles just to get the things on. I think they cover the legs well, and feel that my ankles are also well-covered.
Hopefully they are not too hot for summer use compared to full chainsaw trouser protection.
They are rated for chains moving at 20m/s, which is fine for my battery Stihl at 14m/s.
I have not used these yet. They appear to be well made and for the home owner and the odd time used of chain saws they give you a sence of some protection. I am not going to try and cut my leg off to see if the Oregon is any good I will just have trust the known brand name.
Safety has no compromise. Use them or loose them, (legs).
Bought for my husband who is a big bloke. However, the label says 46″waist, 30″leg. He’s 44″, 29″ so it should’ve been ok. It wasn’t. The belt, even fully extended was a good four inches short of meeting around his middle. The bit of webbing they made it out of might just have been 46″ long BEFORE they cut and sewed the ends to the trousers and the plastic clasp. In addition, the legs are way longer than 30″. Good but of kit but lousy sizing.
Paid 49 at the time and it is so well done. The quality of the lining and everything else is worth the price. I feel protected by the accessory to manage my chainsaw and trimmers.
First time chainsaw user, but was looking for something protective but not too hot / restrictive.
I think these fit the bill really well.
Sizing / fitting was good for me. Pretty straight forward to put on. There are a lot of clips but this means less “loose” material to catch anywhere.
They are heavy to wear, but not excessively so. You certainly feel kitted out & safe.
These chaps are well made, robust and fit long legs very well. I’m 6’1″ and slim build and these are comfortable to wear. Only reservation is the gaudy flourescent orange trim to the seams which makes you look like a nerd rather than a ‘logger’…..They are a bit better looking when dirty and bedraggled. Quality is very good for the price. Recommended.
Very comfortable with lots of wide elastic bands around the rear of the legs connected with easy to use comfortable clips. I’ve got 36 inch inside leg and they still fit well giving me all the protection I need. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. If you want something that’s easy to wear, quick to put on or take off and most importantly protects your legs, you c ant go wrong.
I am pleased with the purchase, they fit well and are comfortable to wear. As a DIY chainsaw user for log trimming and cutting they are more than adequate. Easy on and off whilst working in the garden. Having looked into the protection side of owning a chainsaw very pleased with the quality and pricing.
Bought to fit different height users
Much easier for a team to use as it fits different users, we are not going to share trousers!
Comfy and also allows one to wade through brambles and hawthorn and cut them back.
The chaps are made of quality material. They feel light and comfortable to wear, and they’re easy to put on/take off via the simple clip for the waist and the 4 clips on each leg.
Comfy & good looking chaps, worn these twice so far for clearing a quite small but thick area of overgrown bushes, used a chainsaw now and then so thought it best to invest in some proper protection.
I’ve always found the Oregon brand good value for money and these chaps are no exception. These chaps are really well made and offer great protection to the legs. It’s so easy to catch yourself on the legs when using a chainsaw, so they are a great investment. Despite their sturdy construction they are fairly light and cool to wear.
I bought these as I only use a chainsaw occasionally. I had no need of full trousers. Ok, so you feel a bit of a twit wearing them, but you’d feel more of a twit with your leg hanging off while you bled to death. A chainsaw is a mega dangerous thing so always wear the full protective gear. Anybody who says otherwise isn’t fit to give advice. These are comfortable and with the correct gloves and face shield make you feel safer.
This chainsaw protection trousers are a must fit anyone using dangerous machines like chainsaws people. I’m talking to you as someone who had a very lucky escape in the summer cutting down trees without having any protections what so ever. Having slipped with my chainsaw I’ve used so many times before for years without protection.
I’m so lucky I didn’t cut my hands or leg off by the chainsaw I know so well. When I slipped the chainsaw was going and it tore through my jeans and lacerated my right kneecap tearing I believe into the bone leaving me in shock. I’d walked or limped into the house, and my wife knew something was up with me. As I was pure white from shock and not responding to her at all for a few seconds to. Then when I pointed to my leg and I sat down, not looking at what had happened to my leg. She freaked when seeing the blood knowing this was the saw that did this folks. Blood pouring from this wound. I count myself fortunately to be able to walk although painfully for a few weeks. My knee has not been right as I believe I’ve chipped or lost some bone from this incident.
Please please please don’t bre Kline me and be foolish. I’d then went and bought these chaos that are so comfortable to wear even for long hours of use in a day. They don’t make you sweat either which is a massive bonus to have to. Please make sure you don’t do what I did and but they proper equipment that could save you from danger from chainsaw chains cutting you really badly. As they are unforgiving machines if you don’t respect them in accidents can happen to anyone including normally people that take great care. Do not use a chainsaw without trousers at least like these even from another brand Oregon or someone else’s. That could protect your limbs from a very nasty damage. Thanks for reading.
Can’t imagine the summer sweats in full pants, advised by a gardener mate to get these & think they are just the ticket. They are long so protect some of the top of my foot also-can’t yet find chainsaw boots with a wide enough toe.
Another smashing product from oregon.
Again they do come as a larger size so be aware of that.
Wanted chaps for climbing for ease of movement and to keep the heat down and these perform well.
Can’t yet comment on durability but the guy who services my saw has had a pair for ages (5+years) and he swears by his.
1 Have 31.5″ inseam, and with shoes on these are a good length. I can hitch them up a bit.
Would be good for up to 33.5″ inseam I woud say.
Certainly much cooler and less of a pain to put on/off than full trousers especially over the top of jeans etc.
BUT, they have a design flaw – the straps that fasten around the legs have straps that are far to0 long and also are the wrong way round – the loose end of strap is the wrong side causing some risk. There is no loop to secure it either.
Of course you can shorten the strps to your need, but Oregon should re-design that aspect.
Aslo when bending over to secure the legs straps, it makes it harder to get them tight as you need to bend.
Overall though, goo for occassional chain saw use when you have to ut chaps on/off over jeans etc.
BEst option, not perfec
Good sturdy product, but due to its weight, quite difficult to to walk in. Suggest that if you use these you carry them to the place where using the chain saw, and put them on there.
As a DIYer I only use once or twice a year but need the just in case protection. Would prefer full trousers but can’t warrent the extra cost.
They are easy to get into, I bought some clip on braces to make sure they stay in place.
They are comfortable and thick, they are rated for my chainsaw speeds.
Would buy again.
As a woman, it is really hard to find protective trousers that are the right size and shape for my legs, they are generally made for men! But these protective trouser fronts have adjustable straps to buckle round the back of your legs, and are a really good compromise. I have felt well protected in them.
Can’t put a price on safety gear especially with Chainsaws. Opted for these as one size fits all. Bit on the long side for me but had no problems with the fit as the straps take up the slack. Comfortable and well made 🙂
A really great product and just as promised. Can’t take risks on safety and these are the real thing. Easy to wear as over chaps style with 4 sturdy straps on each leg … easy on and off so not a hassle and so easy to use. Great quality and sturdy.
Slightly longer in leg than expected however clip systems do help with this
Would prefer a bit shorter
I’m 177cm tall and probably 4″too long
But universal fit this is to be expected
They are lightweight and seem to do job
However I have not tested this lol
They fit ok, perhaps a bit fiddly and the end of the leg tends to twist a little on my boot but for the price I’m perfectly happy with them. Trousers would be better but, for less than regular use, these still tick the safety box.
These chainsaw protective chaps are a real confidence booster when using a chainsaw. The level of protection is better than expected and they are dead easy to put on once you have made the initial adjustments. I think it would be easy to overheat in a full set of trousers so these are a better option as only the front half of your waist and legs is covered. For serious or professional chainsaw use a full set of trousers/bibs is probably better but for my occasional use these are fine.
Easy to put on and fairly comfortable to wear, much cooler than the heavy chainsaw trousers i was previously using. They pack up nice and neat in the supplied drawstring bag. The only issue is the lowish crotch can sometime make walking up hills a little tricky! Thankfully I haven’t had a chance to see how well they stop a chainsaw, and hopefully won’t every need to find out!
Cant buy these in South Africa although Oregon do sell over here. Great for working in the heat as the backs are open, although the fronts are so thick to do their job one can get hot working in them anyway. I use a brush cutter mostly, and couldn’t find any protective trousers for the purpose, but these work fine, and I have them for when I use a chainsaw too.
I will probably get the band at the top lowered as the ‘one-size-fits-all’ legs are a little too long for my inside leg (30″), or maybe fit some braces on to hold them up as the thick webbing band gets quite hot underneath in the heat here.
