Replaced my unrepairable traditional system with this neat system and am surprised how good the tone /volume is,, and looks good too,, very happy with i
Great for anytime or place, good sound for its size! Easy loading and responds fast to remote control…
Amazing CD player .
Compact, stylish and easy to use .
Ideal for when space is a bonus.
Sound is great and really good value for money.
Really pleased with it and highly recommended.
Great sound from a small unit and very easy to set up
A present for my son who seems to be delighted with it.
Compact , easy to use , good cd sound , radio not so good
The reviews compared the sound quality to Bose speakers which were my first many decades ago.
They are very good quality in a compact machine.
Was almost forced into getting a DAB radio due to our local station reverting to DAB and no longer on FM. Am very pleased with this hi-fi system – it is neat enough to sit on the worktop in my kitchen and also has the CD player (for me) and bluetooth (for my kids and grandkids who are more tech-savy than me!) Went for Panasonic as it has a recognised good name and am not disappointed. The sound quality is excellent for such a small system – so well pleased all round. Would highly recommend.
Like the fact it can be wall mounted.
Sound quality very good.
Easy to use & set up.
Being black it’s a dust magnet.
Disappointed can’t connect my buds so unfortunately I’ll just have to annoy the neighbours with my music choices!
The remote was basic and a little flimsy. The sound could have been better with bass and in some parts was a little tinny. Overall it was a good bit of kit for the money even with these small issues
This will be the third system I have purchased, as I have now three area where I like to play my CDs.
good speakers go from soft. to very loud depending the choice of CD. Takes very little space
fast delivery . would strongly recommend
I love the look of this and it works ok but the DAB connection is very poor. We need to use the flimsy wire aerial but if you walk near it, it cause’s interference. Disappointing
I’m SO happy with this purchase. It is every bit as good as Bose sound, with more features and very easy to set up. Just plug it in, follow the simple instructions and you have radio, CD, Bluetooth connectivity (play your TV through it). I only bought it because Ken Bruce moved to Greatest Hits Radio and I needed a DAB radio. I got a great CD player at the same time, so all my CDs have been dusted off and are back in use! Thanks Ken!!
I purchased this CD player to replace my old one which is now 5 years old.
I play my music through s memory stick and CD which are in MP3 format.
My player stopped recognising the MP3 files but would still play Audio CDs, they only hold about 20 songs whereas in MP3 format my memory stick would hold hundreds, depending on the size of the stick.
The DAB radio is excellent as well as the sound from my memory sticks.
It is very stylish and neat. I love it.
The only downside people may find is that you are unable to listen via headphones, not a problem for me.
A great buy.
I live in Canada & brought this for myself to replace my expensive BOSE system . My brother in England was talking about buying all kind of expensive parts to get better sound quality through his system , so I brought him this instead . He is absolutely blown away both sound quality , especially from such a small , sleek looking unit . Highly recommend !
This was a replacement for my previous one, (which ceased working after a power surge to my house?).
A later model; but still great quality and comes with the extra Bass feature – Definitely the best of this type of CD/Radio Unit- Great!
I love this CD player. It’s very small and very stylish! It comes with a little remote control but you can control it via the player itself too. I have used it for playing CD’s and also for playing music from my phone via Bluetooth. I have not tried the radio as yet. It was very easy to set up and I enjoy the quality of the sound that comes out of the unit. I would definitely recommend this CD player.
Small and compact micro HI fi system – suitable for those who just want to chill out and listen to either the radio, or their favourite CD without the complexity of modern upbeat systems that are available nationwide.
One issue to note, no battery included for the remote controller to which I thought was rather mean as most, if not all supply the battery!
I bought it as a replacement radio for the kitchen and it looks extremely modern and smart. I wanted a DAB radio. It came with 20 preset DAB stations none of which are BBC radio, so I listen to the BBC on FM radio which is almost as good as DAB. It has a nice array of functions and the CD works well too. It’s compact so it doesn’t take up too much space and gives a nice deep resonant sound, but don’t expect it to have the same quality as upmarket hi-fi systems. At the price I paid it’s very good value.
I have set up,cd & radio; I am a woman in her 70’s, found it a bit confusing, but did it,still have to figure out the rest in time, also I have question, I found out what a flash drive is, but have no knowledge of what size will fit this unit, could someone please advise me, my daughter doesn’t know I have bought this, she lives away so cannot ask her. Oh by the way the sound is great. Thank you
I bought this to replace my cd player which had seen better days. Very pleased with the quality of sound for the price.
This was bought to replace an identical model that had lasted approximately ten years. It’s not claiming to be amazing – how could it at that price? That said, it’s a compact system, that works perfectly, and actually provides good sound quality, so if we get a similar longevity from this one, it will have cost us about 20 pence per week!
I have mostly used this for DAB radio and for playing CDs and the sound is excellent, better than I expected. It really does pack a punch and it can either stand on a shelf or fix to a wall. The remote is small and a little fiddly but overall this is a great piece of kit.
So why not 5 stars? You can’t use headphones with this unit, not wired or wireless and that is a massive shame. Actually, that is crap isn’t it? I consider that to be a massive flaw and a real oversight.
Lovely, stylish compact stereo. Very chic and looks great. The sound is excellent for a small stereo, sits nicely on the shelf and can be hung on the wall. Bluetooth connectivity works well and the cd cover opens with slick a movement. Bought it for my wife for christmas and she loves it. No dab but it doesn’t make any difference, as the FM works well. Connect the aerial and click auto tune and it will preset up to 30 channels or you can manually tune it yourself. Great product from Panasonic. After buying Panasonic products for decades with their bullet proof reliability you can’t go wrong.
This was bought to replace an older one that just got worn out with constant use had it several years I had it wall mounted in my kitchen.
This is used in my caravan as I have a pile of CD’s which I love to listen to. It’s a nice looking piece of kit and does what it’s supposed to do, love it.
Works well, very loud and good sound, just can’t connect with all devices for bluetooth, so I had to buy an aux for some devices. It worked with an android phone but then it didn’t work for a different android altough both were quite new.
The pros are the sound and ease of use. The sound quality is bright and clear with no distortion at high volume. Not as warm as my Bose systems or my Sony separates but very good nevertheless. The Bluetooth works fine and the DAB reception is very good. The FM reception was very poor but, as I don’t use this I didn’t mind.
Set up was easy enough but not exactly intuitive, I had to read the manual a few times.
The cons are just some silly design flaws. The CD loading is awkward because the door does not slide all the way back. The display is fairly poor. The limited information shown is very basic. There seems to be no way of keeping the time display on, you have to switch the unit on to see what time it is. Somewhat awkward in the middle of the night, as my wife has said. The worst thing for me was that it does not remember where it stopped playing on a CD. I listen to a lot of classical music and I like to start from where I stopped the next morning.
Overall, the unit is pretty good for a bargain price and I would buy it again.
I bought this to replace a similar model from another manufacturer which had malfunctioned after about three years. This unit looks good and it’s small and compact, suitable for a narrow shelf. It has CD player, bluetooth and FM radio, not DAB but I don’t need that in the location where it is installed. The controls both on the unit itself and the remote are pretty intuitive and easy to use and the remote seems to have a good range. Pairing your device via bluetooth is particularly straightforward. I would say that for its price the sound quality is very good; admittedly the bass isn’t awesome but it would have been unrealistic to expect that. It has a number of options for altering the sound output including “D.Bass” on or off and “Surround Sound” on or off; in all honesty I can’t detect much of a difference! One piece of advice – it comes with a very brief printed users’ guide; the manual available online from the Panasonic website has a lot more information in it which I did find quite useful. Overall I think this is a very good music player for the price and it does everything I need it to do.
Having had a Roberts CD/radio in the kitchen which started to misread CDs or not play them, it was time to look for another and the Panasonic SC-HC302EB-K seemed to fit the bill. It was the second choice and in many ways should have been the first choice, as the first ‘other brand’ didn’t measure up.
The Panasonic delivers a good sound, not as warm as the one it’s replacing, but for the money it’s good. It’s a slim upright unit that takes up less space on a work surface and has a neat sliding door when loading a CD. It will be interesting to see if that stands the test of time, as I tend to err on the side of simplicity when it comes to mechanisms.
What the Panasonic might lack in warmth, it makes up for in clarity of sound with various EQ settings, as well as a ‘surround’ setting that sends the sound out wider than its modest footprint. We’re not talking 5.1 surround, just wider. The only thing I’m disappointed with is that it doesn’t want to play a CD that has a DVD on one side and an Audio CD on the other. I guess that may be to do with the kind of disc it is, although that has played in any other CD player that I’ve tried, even the first replacement I sent back.
For a kitchen-based CD player that gets used every single day, this is a good solution, just don’t expect it to replace a hi-fi that probably several times the cost of this item.
This is a fantastic little unit that really kicks out good-quality sound. It’s fairly small and neat, and will probably fit in most places in your home (mine sits on a bookshelf), just make sure a power outlet is nearby as the lead is not as long as you might think.
The reason this lost a star is due to the fact that the bluetooth is more than a little problematic; in a month, it has worked once or twice for me and ever since it has struggled to connect to the same device again, despite being paired. This isn’t a huge issue for me as I’m used to using aux in my car on a regular basis… I can live without the bluetooth function, but it is a nuisance for a key piece of functionality to just give up. Aux-in and CD player work with no problems, but I have yet to configure the radio (DAB/FM).
If – like me – you were looking for an easy-to-use and budget-but-without-compromising-sound-quality unit, then you should consider this one. If, however, bluetooth is really important to you, I’d look elsewhere.
I searched for weeks before deciding to purchase this model. I went for the SC-HC302 version because it has more features. The DAB+ radio is very good and works well even though I live out in the sticks. It also has an AUX input which is good for hard wiring external sources to (I think this is missing on lower models).
The USB works with a stick only., The manual says that an extension cable will not be recognised. If you wanted to connect an external hard drive full of music with a cable, it will not work. Has to be a USB stick. So I suppose I marked it down for that but its not a big issue really.
This thing is so neat and perhaps smaller than I expected. Then I thought it’s too small to deliver a good sound. Wrong! The sounds is really good but of course it will turn up but not that loud. I have a small lounge and I turn it half way down and still enjoy a pleasant sound.
Build quality is as expected. Perhaps the CD motorised sliding door could become a problem but I do like it. The rest is solid and not much to break.
The display is small. This scrolls across when listening to DAB. Can be a bit annoying waiting for the song title to scroll across, but I really am nit picking now.
Style and design are good, and Panasonic is a brand name that I trust when it comes to electricals.
Overall, considering your paying more or less 100, I think you get a good device. Would recommend.
My main stereo is well into five figures (yes much more than 10k!!), but my wife and I wanted something smaller and easier to use for when we just want to bung on a cd, or listen to the radio. All the systems I could find were quite deep front to back (e.g. Denon & Onkyo) being shoe box size approx with separate speakers. We really wanted something slimmer, and able to sit on a kitchen counter or shelf. Eventually I found this Panasonic stereo, and being the only one that fitted the bill size-wise decided to buy it. I wasn’t expecting very good sound quality, but was willing to put up with that.
So, i got it out the box, its reassuringly heavy. Plugged in power cable, batteries in the remote, connected the aerial. It has brackets to fix to the wall if so wished …. i probably wont as it means the cables trailing to a socket.
First – I played a CD.
WOW.
I mean seriously – WOW! The sound was so rich, and deep and very listenable. I have a box of xmas CDs I bring out at this time of year …. they’ve all been played and sound amazing!
Next I switched to DAB radio (I didn’t even know it had DAB until I looked at the remote!). My last DAB radio was a 200 Ruark one a few years ago. That sounded very good. This sounds BETTER!!! Again the sound is rich, lots of bass, very very easy to listen to.
I cannot recommend this system highly enough – anyone after a second system, or even a main system, with not much space – get this one! I would be happy had I paid 2 or 3 times the price – so at 100 or so it is a total bargain. It also has a remote control which is very handy.
And if you need more convincing – you can connect Bluetooth devices, and it has an Aux in socket to connect headphone output from phone etc. There are also various settings accessed via the remote – I haven’t looked yet, but I think you can tweak the sound if you want to. It has a small digital display which shows the radio station, CD track, time etc etc.
So – just buy it!
