Philips 243V7QDAB – 24 Inch FHD Monitor, 75Hz, 4ms, IPS, Speakers , Smart Image, Narrow Border, LowBlue Mode (1920 x 1080, 250 cd/m², HDMI/VGA/DVI)

SmartImage pre-sets for easy optimised image settings
SmartImage is an exclusive leading edge Philips technology that analyses the content displayed on your screen and optimises your display performance. This user-friendly interface allows you to select various modes, like Office, Photo, Movie, Game, Economy etc., to fit the application in use. Based on the selection, SmartImage dynamically optimises the contrast, colour saturation and sharpness of images and videos for ultimate display performance.
Less eye fatigue with Flicker-Free technology
Due to the way brightness is controlled on LED-backlit screens, some users experience flicker on their screen which causes eye fatigue. Philips Flicker-Free technology applies a new solution to regulate brightness and reduce flicker for more comfortable viewing.
LowBlue Mode for easy-on-the-eyes productivity
Studies have shown that just as ultra-violet rays can cause eye damage, shortwave-length blue light rays from LED displays can cause eye damage and affect vision over time. Developed for well being, the Philips LowBlue Mode setting uses a smart software technology to reduce harmful shortwave blue light.

ot bad screen for this money eyes don’t get tired quick working behind this scree
For normal office work and day-to-day activities like browsing and watching movies, this is more than enough. The IPS panel delivers crisp images
However, if you’re into gaming not that great as its only 75Hz.
IPS monitors are the best especially for playing games and this is my second one, does the job and is light
and easy to move. The pictures is great and there is a audio option with only fair quality speakers.
Does the job, not super grat quality but fine for the price. I wish it had more than 1 hdmi po
Advantages:
1. Easy installation
2. Angle can be adjusted
3. There is a stereo on the backside of the screen
Disadvantages:
1. The plug is the European standard, not the British standard
2. The screen height cannot be adjusted
3. Sometimes the audio cannot be heard clearly
eally good monitor
owned for 6 months
I use it for my ps5
good picture quality
good response time
speakers aren’t the best they do the job though
A great monitor, we researched for the highest specs we could get for a new monitor for our gamer son at the budget we had and loved this monitor so much, we have now bought a second one so he has matching screens. Thank you Tannas Ltd. Lovely friendly and proactive customer service too. A pleasure to deal with.
Connected this to my Surface Pro device, with HDMI/USB-C. However is makes a odd short 1 second burst of white noise over the built in speakers when switching between different audio outputs, or when the monitor (if sound is using the inbuilt speakers) comes off standby. Too much hassle to return item, will try and investigate whether there is a fix for it via drivers/software.
Quality one from Phillips.. value for money but we can’t adjust the height that’s bit worry, rest all are perfect, picture quality is great too..
I purchased this monitor to use in my home office. The monitor was very easy to set up and I have been using it with no issues for the past few months. No complaints – it fit my needs perfectly well!
This product is really a good product with in-build speaker. Screen clarity also very good. However, this is not a LED monitor which is a demarit of it. Otherwise value for money.
On opening the sealed box, i found a plastic bag containing a quick start guide but no CD
hence no instructions, drivers or software.
On downloading these, the manual clearly shows a CD, so where is mine???
I am lucky that i have worked in IT so the missing CD was just annoying, but others
may struggle.
Once set up the display provided a way too bright image, why do they set brightness at
100% at the factory?
The Philips Smart Control software recognised the monitor but refused to allow me
to change any settings.
So i used the Nvidia graphics card software to get a comfortable settings that toned down
a way to harsh display.
Once adjusted this mointor has a sharp clear picture, i can’t vouch for gaming use as i never
play any.
Recommemded, but if you are unlucky as i was, and you have no CD, you will need to go
to Philips website to download them.
Very good screen, come with a HDMI cable, which means you do not need to buy separate cable.
Very clear and high resolution.
As far as what I use, it is wonderful.
The only complaint is the audio, it is really bad. However, I do can accept it, as this is just a ‘monitor’ rather than a speaker.
Pros
75hz
Very Good Viewing Angles And Picture Quality
Thin Bezels
Cons
I Have Got A Very Tiny Amount Of Backlight Bleed On One Of The Corners.
This was an excellent second monitor addition, and the picture quality is better than a slightly older equivalent Dell monitor. It works well being driven by a Dell USB dock from a laptop.
The stand is a fixed height which is fine as I had measured the gap before purchasing. There is forward and backward tilt but I noticed the plastic base of the screen where it says Philips bulges worryingly as you are applying force how to adjust a tilt. However I will probably not change this angle more than once a year now that it is set in position.
I asked a question below in the Q&A section because Amazon said it was delivered next day by Vendors Own Courier VOC, but it turns out that this purely meant that someone had turned the package over to the courier (In my case DHL). I got an SMS text 36 hours later to confirm the expected delivery time. Note that by this point the Amazon site had said it had been delivered to my house. I think this confusion is purely down to Amazon’s interface and nothing to do with the supplier.
Make sure you change your colour to “User Define” for a better colour setting, also make sure that you change your screen refresh rate to 75 in the Windows display settings.
Got this for a second monitor; it delivers really well at the price of purchase (149.97); the colour accuracy and contrast ratio are almost on-par with my 400 Alienware monitor, so I think this is a great purchase for anybody aiming to use this as their first monitor.
The speakers are present, but they’re only good as a backup
Wall mountable is a great addition, surprisingly hard to find for a monitor at this price range
No USB slots at the back of the device, unfortunately 🙁
Good monitor, really good for the price. I had bought a more expensive one from another brand and ended up sending it back due to it being faulty (excellent Amazon customer service) but this is way better.
Really punchy colours, very quick and easy to tailor the colour setting to what your working on/wanting thanks to the “smart image” button setting. I find it very stable on my desk.
I cant comment on the speakers as I never use onboard ones, I only got the option with the speakers because for some reason it was cheaper than the one without them.
Very happy with this buy and it has me thinking that they are cheap enough that I’m tempted to buy a second to go to a dual monitor setup.
This is used for browsing, office work, watching movies and photoshop editing, but not games; so I cant say if it would be good for gamers.
I use it as a second/extended monitor. So far I haven’t had any troubles using it or with the connection, nither colours. I do graphic design and some of my works are actually prepared for print and frankly, the result of using this monitor is quite satisfying. It matches the colours after a bit of correction, It is big enough so I don need to go closer to see details it is sharp enough for my purposes and it does the job. The only minus is as the extended monitor in resolution 1920 x 1080 (at least it appears to me, but my laptop is much higher resolution), it cuts a bit of the frame and you will see just a bit of the X button on the top right on a website in full mode, also appear the same problem in the software frames. So you have to go to your graphic card to screen settings and adjust them manually. Bear in mind some people advise not to do it cause it can cause trouble to the graphic card as it may not work in full capacity. I don’t have any troubles so far but I thought is good to be aware if you decide to buy the monitor.
Picture quality and sharpness is decent for the price you pay. Sound quality is below average from the video I’ve uploaded. Overall I’d say it does the job of working from home plus some added bonuses
I was so impressed with this monitor for the price I bought 5 for the office. They have a nice crisp screen 75hz refresh rate and look very smart. The sound is a bit naff but I’ve not found a monitor yet that has even slightly useable sound. Highly recommend them for daily office use … They also have built in anti-blue settings to protect your eyes (can be set to about 3 different levels). I would say they were also ok for general gaming but if you are after something for 4k gaming and intensive graphics use I would go up to the next price range but for office work I wouldn’t go anywhere else as they are perfect.
Better for gaming but hoped it would work with fire stick too. It does not but the picture quality and sound quality is perfect. The fire stick does control the channels etc but not on/off or volume. Otherwise it’s perfec
I bought this to use as an external monitor for my laptop. I wanted it because home use benefits from a screen larger than 15 inches, and because the laptop fan was getting on my nerves. This monitor has good picture quality so far as I reckon these things. It lets me keep my laptop out of the way. Whether it would be any good for gaming I can’t say.
I would give it five stars, based on my own use – except that the sound quality is insultingly poor. I went for this particular model because it had built-in speakers. I didn’t expect anything wonderful. Even so, I expected sound that was fit for reasonable purpose. Instead, even with the volume turned up all the way, the sound is barely audible. The sound is so poor, I have queried with the seller whether the monitor is defective. If it is defective and if I am sent a better model, I will come back to this review with a higher rating. Otherwise, I suspect that 4/5 is rather generous.
Update (24/4/2021): I suppose I should have taken the trouble to install the drivers and reboot. After that, while hardly HD sound, the speakers began to work much better. Though it came after I had solved my problem, the seller’s response to my message was polite and helpful. Therefore, I change my rating from four to five stars.
My only fault was I ordered this because it said it would come with 3 different plugs. As I have the old fashioned tower at the moment with old fitting I needed that until such time I get new tower. I have had to use the old lead from my old screen. Otherwise all is well
I never play games and I use this monitor only for work, the demand of quality, response is not so important because I just use text and some basic stuff.
I use it at at 1080p 75hz and the image is really sharp and clean.
Comes with HDMI cable, the quality of it is low but its still a cable you can use. Lenght I think it is 1.5 m something like this.
Colors? Very clean, bright, I do photography and I know how important is to have a good display.
I dont do editing on this display but I can easily tell its a good one.
Build quality? I would say, neah, not so great.
But, there is a but here, for the money I have paid, there is nothing to say about the build in quality.
The stand? I would say is very bad, it is just a piece of plastic that holds the display. Feels extremely cheap.
YOU CAN TILT it but you CANNOT rotate or adjust the height which for me particularly doing office work on this display is a big drawback.
Also the whole thing is not so stable because of the stand.
It is not so slim but slim enough. At the end of the day we look at the display not at how thick or slim it is.
Overall, good experience.
I will probably get a monitor wall stand and that is it.
If you would recommend this? Yes of course!!!

I bought it because I’m working from home during the last two projects that I’ve been running with and for what I use it for – O365 docs, spreadsheets, PowerPoints, etc – its more than adequate for the price. I’m sure there are better ones but not at this price point. The speakers arent up to much, but sub-100, you wouldnt reasonably expect that. Running at Tribit X-Sound Go with it and its fine. Very happy with it.
So much so, I’ve bought a second one for my partner to use for her working from home as well.
I like it.
Using this for working from home. Great fast delivery. Easy to set up – basically just plug in and go. I didn’t read the spec properly and was surprised there was no built in camera but other than that it does what I need it to do.
This monitor looks great and the screen is brilliant. It goes very bright and there are lots of ways you can customise. My only complaint is that the speakers are awful. I wasn’t expecting much from them but there is absolutely zero bass or any depth whatsoever – the earpiece on my smartphone is better quality! Other than that, a decent monitor.
This is a good size monitor for general use. The picture quality is excellent, the 75 Hz screen refresh mode is useful for gaming – off course serious gamers want a 120 Hz monitor. I normally use the monitor at 60 Hz, as the settings in Windows state that 75Hz is not the recommended frequency.
It should be noted that the screen does not flicker even at 50Hz; for LCD/LED monitors the image is static and the frequency denotes the screen refresh rate. The old CRT monitors required a minimum of 72 Hz for comfortable working.
Disadvantages:
– the title angel range is very small
– stand is a bit wobbly
– lowest brightness/contrast can still be too bright for a dark room (but all monitors I know have that problem)
Great for the price, very good at minimising glares , great value if you can get it under 100. One big problem is the power supply the cable isn’t great and a small adjustment to my monitor tilt leads to the power being cut off
I’ll start off with the advantages. I got it for 69 which is a real bargain overall. When you have adjusted the OSD to get the colours about as accurate as possible, it certainly justifies it’s price and likely will be ahead of many others.
The audio quality isn’t great, but it is perfectly acceptable and suitable for the odd video. With the way TVs and monitors have come these days, speakers are basically an addition and many users will expect to buy separates as they just don’t have the space in them to sound good. Many monitors don’t even come with speakers. I’m very surprised with the amount of reviews rating this and other monitors down 2 or 3 stars because of the audio!
The build quality is excellent for the price. It doesn’t look that pleasing though. The bottom bar at the base of the display protrudes quite a bit from the surface of the screen and looks a little out of place given the rest is flush. But it is all really solid and doesn’t flex one bit. For this price, you would expect a compromise on build quality, which is the stand by the sound of it from others opinions. But I have it mounted on the wall and I frequently adjust the position of it and feeling the monitor elsewhere, the build doesn’t feel cheap at all, despite looking that way.
The OSD menu is very advanced for a budget monitor like this. I’m used to OSD menus from DELL and while this one feels rather sluggish and a bit slow to respond, it does still have most of the options there.
The first button on the left is a short cut to 8 different display modes:
Easyread
Office
Photo
Movie
Game
Economy
LowBlue Mode
Off
These are all very simple to change for anyone who doesn’t want spend time figuring out how the rest of the menu works.
Easyread entirely gets rid of the colours and pretty much makes it newspaper style which is more comforting for the eyes in some circumstances.
Office, Economy and Off all are pretty realistic without changing too much of the default settings or colours. They more just focus on changing the brightness and sharpness.
Photo, Movie and Game in my view are all horrible. They drastically over saturate colours which to many people’s eyes may be pleasing it they want things to stand out. It may even be helpful in gaming, but none of these options are remotely realistic in terms of colour accuracy.
Low blue mode is a nice option to have that is very easy on the eyes. It has 2 levels when it is is selected, the higher number being more of a warm tone. Both of which are too warm for my taste, but if you don’t like looking at a very cold white screen, these are useful.
There is a lot more that you can do in this menu, but that is the basics covered.
In terms of image quality, when looking at most things in moderate lighting, It is outstanding for the price. Even several premium monitor models I tried that were far more expensive that this didn’t look a great deal better other than the resolution. I am used to a glossy display which is next to impossible to find these days, but for a matte finish, it is very sharp when sharpness is on full and there is very little to complain about for something that was well under 100. Even for around 90 which is is at the time of writing, it is certainly more than acceptable.
Onto some of the disadvantages now. Due to how sensitive I am, I do notice a lot. Some of which won’t be much of a problem for others.
Some of these may well be just because I’ve come from a more expensive monitor, but others certainly can be avoided.
Back light bleed is easily the biggest problem with this monitor. IPS glow and backlight bleed can look similar, but there is a difference. I haven’t come across an IPS monitor that doesn’t have IPS glow. But all that is is a faint grey patch in the 4 corners when you are close to the monitor, and only when looking at very dark content usually. But at least it tends to be even. I’m used to this ever since first using an IPS monitor.
There is a large brown blob in the centre on the top of the screen. Even worse, there is a more obvious leak from the backlighting at the top right corner, both on the top and right side. It is much more discrete, but there is also more from the other 3 corners, but at least this is only noticeable in extreme darkness. The top right corner and centre leaks are noticeable when watching widescreen films or 4:3 videos unless you have you room extremely well lit, which then partially ruins the content of the footage a little. This is highlighted by the picture attached, although you can’t make it very obvious by taking pictures.
This backlight problem isn’t directly a criticism of this monitor more than others as loads these days seem to have this problem. I bought and returned a 350 dell monitor that had far worse backlight bleed than this. I think this problem is a consequence of most monitors no longer having protruding boarders around the edge. All my old monitors that had the more bulky design had no backlight bleed at all. This design that this Phillips and many other monitors have make them look nice and sleek being flush with the edge, but in my opinion introduces this which is quite a big problem.
One other thing that Phillips don’t seem to have in their OSD unlike most other brands is to drastically dim the screen by turning the RGB numbers right down. On my Dell S2415h for example, if I turn them down, it both turns down those individual colours (which if you do equally for all three still has the same tone) as well as the brightness. So you can basically go well below the brightness that minimum suggests you can. This is incredibly useful when you are working on your PC late at night and you want the monitor to be extremely dim. Both with a premium Phillips monitor I had as well as this, turning these colours down doesn’t allow you to go very far. So minimum brightness isn’t actually that dim. It very likely will be fine for most though. I’m just pointing out that most other monitors are more flexible in that regard.
Another disadvantage that I think is purely going to be related to the price and I do accept for this. The blacks and most other really deep colours seem to merge a bit too much for my liking. When gaming in dark scenes, it makes the slightly different shades very difficult to distinguish. It is also hard when I view some of my camera pictures to tell apart the different dark shades that I remember being a lot more obvious.
This wasn’t too much of a disadvantage for me, but may be for others if they are coming from a monitor that had more accurate colours, contrast and other things out of the box. As I am critical of these things, I noticed that with the factory settings, this monitor needed quite some tweaking in the menu to look it’s best. The contrast between black and white was rather on the extreme side. I found it a bit difficult reading black text on a white background initially just because of the brightness difference. Turning contrast down to 25 rather than 50 helps with that. I also thought that some of the colours were just that bit too vibrant even when the quick menu was in the off position, especially red. So I went into the menu and selected user define and turned the red down from 100 to 90 and that has helped.
Overall, I do think this monitor is incredible value for money, but I still am trying to find a better one. This was basically to use while I tried to find a better more advanced model, but it is surprisingly good, even with the issues it has.
Update 05/01/21:
I thought I may as well include the other weakness of this monitor that I’ve since noticed. It still isn’t really enough to reduce my rating for the price I got mine for (which was 69), but if it was still sold for over 100, I think I would drop 4 stars to 3.
The other issue is the viewing angles, but not in the way people think of them. Typically, this would be how far you can view it from above, below or either side without the colours changing or the image messing up. In this area, the monitor is decent, but not the best. The issue is the first two rows of pixels on all edges of the monitor, but especially the sides. This is a display with totally flush edges, so this should not be a problem at all. But when you sit close to the screen (2 feet dead centre for example), the first row on the left and right and left of 1080 pixels becomes blocked. This is a really strange problem. To many it won’t be noticeable due to it being in the least important areas of the screen, but if say you sit in line with the right or left side of the monitor facing it, you can guarantee that at least one or two rows of pixels on the other side will be blocked. This is probably some defect in the design and there is some bent plastic that causes this effect, as it is very strange that you can see fine if you view the edges from the other side. Such as viewing the left side from far left of the display, it is then the right side that suffers and can actually make you miss up to 4 rows of pixels.
The only reason why I noticed this was because Ubuntu has a theme where the boarders of windows is 1 pixel thick. And it became quite frustrating that moving your head would make the boarders come and go. Very distracting unless you work over a metre away and hardly move. But after changing the theme to have thicker boarders, it is tolerable, and due to the price, I can accept it.
Just to give people an idea of what I’m on about, I have attached some edited pictures that explain the problem, and I do expect all these monitors to have this problem. I simply took a full white printscreen and put turned the first 2 rows of pixels red, then took pictures from several angles and explained them.
It is attractive and sits well on my desk. Ok, it wobbles a bit when pressing the buttons, but that seems to be the case with every monitor and you don’t need to use the buttons other than setting up.
The screen is sharp and colours seem to be absolutely fine both for general work and photo and video editing. Viewed from any angle doesn’t seem to make any difference to the picture which is excellent. As my desktop doesn’t have an HDMI socket, I used the old set up with an HDMI adapter which doesn’t transfer audio to the monitor. No problems as I used my existing external speakers.
As far as I can see when registering the monitor with Philips, it comes with a three year guarantee, a bonus. For the price it can’t be beaten and I’m happy to recommend it.
For everyday home or business use, this is a bright, good value HD-resolution monitor that you can just plug in and use. If you are working from home on a small laptop, connecting one of these monitors will make work much more comfortable.
Once you have learned where to place your fingers to get at the control buttons located on the lower edge, adjustments are easy to make. If you are a designer, photographer, or artist, you will want a much better monitor, and will have to pay much more. If you want to do emails, spreadsheets and internet for shopping or learning, the image is fine.
The built-in speakers are a disappointment and are too poor to use for listening to music or film sound. They are good enough for watching low-quality videos and for sound effects, so are a bit better than nothing. I would not choose this just because it has speakers.
Picture quality is great; sound is a bit tinny and not load enough although I am using old style pc – audio with 3.5mm jack. The inability to adjust either screen height or the viewing angle is a bit painful. The content list was not correct; hdmi cable instead of vga and no audio cable. For the price it’s OK and the cat now has more room without those pesky separate speakers.
In 40 years in the IT industry I’ve never previously used a Philips monitor so was a bit dubious about buying this one. This replaced an ageing 21in and the clarity of the Philips screen compared to the old one is amazing. Beautiful colours and bright enough to see in a really bright conservatory. I didn’t give any starts for “gaming” as the only games played on it are by my grandchildren!
Would recommend to anyone wanting a cheapish monitor with built-in speakers. Great buy!
I use it as a 2nd screen for my laptop while working from home and also to connect up to a Freeview box for casual TV watching while away from work and it works just fine for both applications.
For the price, I would recommend it especially if you are after a second screen for working from home and also want it for a bit of TV watching also.
Bought this to make working from home a little easier, rather than relying on a tiny laptop screen. It’s a good budget friendly monitor. It looks nice on the desk and has a simple bezel. The only thing is that it is a little bit wobbly. Nothing too drastic but I do notice it a bit when i’m typing. But considering the price point it’s great overall.
What I like about these: the picture quality, weight (they are extremely light), great viewing angle. I chose the version of these with both a DVI and HDMI input, as it was important for me to be compatible with most new graphics cards. I didn’t want DisplayPort inputs as these seem less important with changes happening in the HDMI specifications (and match the cables. I haven’t tried the sound output from these: at this price it’s really not important how good or bad the sound is. If you’re worried about it you should really be getting separate active speakers. Finally I was completely blown away at the extremely narrow physical bezels – makes for great screen continuity. Overall highly recommended.
If you are choosing this monitor because of the speakers I would reconsider choosing a monitor without speakers at a cheaper price. However, if you rely more on using a headset/headphones then this may be a good choice as you have the option of switching between the two while saving on having to buy separate speakers.
Overall picture quality and the 24 inch display are perfect for gaming and work, allowing plenty of space to split the screen for seperate tabs.
