Half price from Warehouse “Used like new” but it was fully packaged and was brand new !
The iron is lightter which is why we bought it . It seems to take a long time to get warm enough to iron though
===========================================
Our previous steam iron was a Tefal, but we thought we would try the Philips at around the same price when our Tefal finally died. One of things I do like about the Philips is how light it is – it’s much lighter than the Tefal. I also like the simplicity of the Philips. Our old Tefal had about 9 different buttons, but we only ever used two of them. This is even more simple – only one button and the steam trigger. The iron part is slightly smaller and unlike our Tefal has no base (on the iron part) for you to stand it upright on the iron board – but it’s actually meant to be left flat on the iron board since it’s a feature that it won’t burn anything, however we end up putting it back on its base – don’t want to tempt fate! Like the Tefal it has a lock to hold the iron onto the base, whilst the lock works it still feels a little flimsy on the Philips – I mean it does the job, but the Tefal one locks so extremely well you could swing it around just holding the iron without worrying about the base coming off – we won’t be doing that with the Philips. The one main niggle on this iron, is it has the similar descaling process as the Tefal – you have to physically lift the whole thing and empty the water out of the descaling port. Its only some of the other Philips models that have the nice tray descaling feature where you place it on the supplied tray and press a button. Sadly this is not one of those models. Also the descaling plug sticks out a little – it doesn’t fit flush with the body, so whilst it doesn’t leak or anything, it looks like it’s not properly closed, but in fact it is.
The main thing I miss from our Tefal is the power lead. The Tefal had a long retractable power lead. This one isn’t retractable and it’s only after use I realised how much I like the function on the Tefal.
The water reservoir is easy to remove on the Philips and easy to fill, but you only get a light that flashes when the water is too low (no beep). Overall the build quality is okay, but I feel the old Tefal I bought for the same price 8 or so years ago seems a little more robust. In usage though the Philips does actually steam really well – better than our old Tefal at least, weighs less, and extremely simple to use, although we found the steam boost function does take a bit getting used to. There is also the peace of mind that our daughter is less likely to accidentally burn her clothes or the house down with the iron. It does mean you may need to change the way you iron though – our old Tefal gets much hotter (at a risk of burning what you are ironing) , the Philips doesn’t get as hot, but relies on the better steaming to iron the clothes, so some items are better left hanging on the hanger and steaming it vertically. I also miss the water spray function.
We decided to keep the iron for now, despite the small niggles. Only time will tell if this lasts as long as our previous steam irons. Currently selling at 299.99
Love this iron light easy to use so pleased wit it.
Have used other brands, but this has proven to be the easiest to use. Not having to adjust the temp helps get through the ironing pile quicker. My only criticism would be that the power cable could be longer.
Wow! This is one heavy piece of equipment but is a great iron/steamer. Heats up fast, good temperature control and no issue with the end result. Expensive but worth it!
This is a superb iron for getting through lots of ironing.
The advantage of the large, separate tank of water compared with a “normal” iron is that it significantly reduces the weight of the iron because it no longer contains a few hundred millilitres of water. A side-effect is that the tank can now be far larger (as you are not lifting it), and it is. Therefore you do not find yourself filling it up anything like as often as with an ordinary steam iron (a pet hate of mine is running out of water in mid-ironing and not realising for a while). The tank holds a significant 1.8 litres of water. It is easy to see when it is running low and easier to fill than with an ordinary steam iron.
It glides easily over clothes.
Tip: This is great for giving any electrical item an auto-power off feature. Just plug your iron/phone charger etc in and set the timer for 15 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours or 8 hours with a push of a button B005C9S0I8 ANSMANN AES-1 Zero Watt Energy Saving Timer Plug Socket .
This is a great iron, and a marked step up from my old self contained unit.
It really reduces the amount of time you spend ironing and is great. I also really love that you can put it down on the ironing board without burning your house down when changing what you’re ironing. The smart temperature adjustment is also great, no more googling what temperature to iron things at as this deals with that for you.
I am far from an expert on steam generators but this really does make ironing a breeze. The part of the unit that you hold is also really light, unlike my old more traditional iron, so it would be great for someone with limited mobility that can’t be holding heavy objects for a longer period of time.
Although I’m really not sure why amazon is selling it for so much money when it can be had for almost the price on other sites
What a fantastic piece of kit! Don’t have to worry about scorching garments as it only has one setting which is ideal for all fabric, great for getting my teenager involved in ironing without worrying he will melt delicates
It’s really lightweight in the hand and glides effortlessly and the transport lock is very welcome because that’s how my last iron met it’s demise, falling to the floor.
Don’t let the price point put you off because you definitely get one of the best on the market steam generator irons and I highly recommend
Works as described!!!
Does an amazing job, I am really impressed!
Iron everything that you need, take it a few seconds to heat and it is very light!
I will definitely recommend it!
I bought this to replace my old Philips steam generator which I had for 11 years.
On using its a lot lighter it took a while to get used to it ,I do miss my own temperature dial although I never used it on the old one as I set so that suited everything…the other thing I really miss is the rewind electric cable storage…it made it so tidy.. overall I’m still getting used to it but liking i
Have been using a much smaller but also much older Philips steam iron for a long time now but this is huge by comparison as previous one is more like a traditional standard iron and the size difference is pretty big, which makes this feel pretty bulky to be honest and it takes up a lot more space but would say it’s 100% worth it as ironing is a completely different experience with this and so much easier and more efficient – perfect for when you save up the ironing to do a bulk load as you can steam through it (pun intended) with this beast in no time and is really great for sheets and curtains especially.
I did give it a go for steaming clothes on the hanger but although it#s also very effective at this I actually prefer my trusty and much cheaper handheld steamer as this is a bit cumbersome on that front, but for standard ironing this gets an easy 5 stars. I also like the water tank actually removes so you can fill it up without having to have the whole unit under the tap so have literally left this plugged in in the utility room since the day we opened it! It is expensive but worth it if you do a lot of ironing and want the best and based on previous many years of experience with Philips electrical goods I am pretty confident it’s going to last a long time to and would recommend as super happy with i
I use this iron all the time now. It is great for ironing large items like sheets and smaller items like t-shirts. It is great for any item that can be laid flat. I was impressed that I don’t need to manually change the temperature for different types of material; it copes with silk and nylon as well as with cottons. It is harder to use this iron for small fiddly items – you must not put your hand anywhere near the hot steam that the iron constantly emits. You can also steam hanging items. I like that I can leave the tank of water on the side and that the iron is very light weight. I would like to recommend this item but it is very expensive and that’s hard to justify.
What a brilliant bit of kit, it’s very effective and even works out the required heat settings itself. As a whole this Philips PerfectCare 7000 Series Steam Generator is quite a sizeable piece of equipment, however as the water tank and steam generator are in the main body it means that the actual iron part is quite light in weight.
The main body of the unit has ‘pegs’ sticking out from the bottom which means that it can sit securely on the bit of an ironing board where you would normally rest a conventional iron. If you like to iron in the kitchen you can rest the steam generator on a worktop, as the steam hose is quite long.
The amount of steam that this generates is impressive, the iron glides over material and the creases just ‘fall out’ – no more going over things two or three times to get things smooth.
There are a couple of niggles for me, firstly the instructions could be clearer and secondly, the power cord could be a metre or so longer.
I’ve been very impressed with this steam generator iron, I just wish that I’d had something like this when I was in the Army – getting my uniform sorted for parades would have been so much easier. Even with the ‘niggles’, I’m very happy to recommend this..5 stars from me.
Fantastic quality
Very light to hold
the base is a little big but that’s part of the system
Steam generator 7000 is Fantastic
if you have a small kitchen it may not be for you and the price is a lot of money
If you take away the price its one of the best product I’ve seen if you have the money buy one
I much prefer Philips as a brand, they have a good reputation. As a result, this is the second steam generator iron I’ve had. It is expensive, but everything is almost done for you, so it’s well worth the money. There’s a good big water tank,if you have a load of ironing, there’s no having to top up all the time. Also, the temperature controlled you can be ironing on high heat, for example jeans, but it will automatically adjust if your next item is something more delicate, like baby clothes. My last model of these just packed up after six years, so it was a relief to be able to get this one! I really can’t recommend this highly enough.
Superb quality and best in class. So easy to operate and effort less iron experience. Most advanced one and power efficient. No dial or setting needed. Suitable for all kinds of fabrics like silk, jeans etc. No temperature or any other setting. This is the best part. Just loved.
Over all very well designed. The price may seems light high but its worth it.
If I have to iron, then from now on, I’ll insist on one of these. Wow.
I actually gave up ironing I got so fed up with it and I wasn’t using the cheapest iron either but this iron has transformed me into an ironing demon. Since receiving this, I have removed every T-shirt either I or my other half own and ironed it. Gone the slightly crinkly look that I couldn’t get rid of with the clothes dryer.
Things I hated about ironing
* Getting the temperature wrong and ruining things
* Blobs of water and scale just when you don’t need it
Things I love about this iron
* It chooses the temperature and never gets it wrong
* It glides effortlessly across any fabric
* Constant steam available at the soft press of a trigger
* No blobs, no scale
* Huge water tank
* Perfect amount of steam making ironing anything easy
* I thought the water cable would be difficult to manage and it isn’t
* The iron itself is lightweight and easy to use
Things not quite perfect about this iron
* It’s noisier than any iron I’ve used. Likely due to the pressured steam and has an occasional noise like a small pump running. I don’t recommend trying to have a phone call whilst using this as it’s awful for the person on the other end!
* It’s cumbersome and untidy for storage
After an hour of ironing T-shirts with steam, I have water dripping off the underside of my ironing board so I need to lay a towel down on the floor. This seemed extreme to start with but, I’ve used nearly 2 litres of water and I guess that has to go somewhere. I now prepare but it’s worth knowing and I am considering upgrading my ironing board as this may address this issue.
Important — the instructions state to have the iron horizontal for 30 seconds with steam before using. This is the ONLY way I don’t get blobs of water from time to time so it is definitely worth doing.
Is it expensive? Yes.
Is it worth it? Yes, if you can afford it!
Am I happy to have this iron — gloriously happy, it’s the best Vine product I’ve ever received.
Hope this helps you make your own ironing discovery
2100W STEAM BOOST IRON AND GENERATOR. SELF ADJUSTING TEMPERATURE FOR ALL FABRICS, NO NEED WORRY ABOUT CHANGING. EASY GLIDE WITH 8.O BAR OF STEAM. COMPLETE WITH 1.8L REMOVABLE WATER TANK.MAKES IRONING QUICK AND EASY WITHOUT ANY FUSS.
I’ve had a couple of steam generator irons in the past and love them. There are a few downsides; the price, the size and they do wear out eventually. However, it terms of efficiency and effectiveness, they are unbeatable. No need to worry about temperature settings fabrics, you just crack-on. The iron is extremely light and easy to manoeuvre. At this price, I appreciate it has to be a very considered purchase. However, if you have a large family with lots of ironing, and especially if you “hate” ironing, buy this and you’ll never look back.
I have mixed feelings about this product. On one hand I love the user experience of the item but on other hand it costs 349.99 to buy this item.
Let me focus on the positive things first. Ordering the item was definitely gave me no regrets. The packaging is bulky. The box is huge but for the right reason. The item is huge too and to safely pack it, there needs to be space for protectors. Out of the box, the item feels true Phillips quality. Philips has a reputation for a reason and this item is a testimony to that reputation. Plastic and iron combination is seamless. Took me sometime to figure out the functionality. BTW there is no heat control function. So if you want to use it as an iron and not steam then the max is min and min is max. But there is a reason for it.
The technology used to make this product is beyond me but outcome is that, the heat is unlikely to burn your clothes where normal iron may do so very quickly and easily. No one wants that. Having said that though, it is not like I experimented if the product will burn clothes if it is left x amount of length of time.
Now come to the steam function. Absolutely, smashing. This is the part I am in love with. Precision at its best. Every type of clothes I have pressed with the steamer came out soft and smooth. I had some clothes that are for years, creased and whit previous iron steam I had, it was hard to smooth those. This just made those go away as piece of cake. The steamer is supported by a 1.8 L holding tray. That is a lot of steam. The gliding is smooth on any fabric. I didn’t sign of the surface trying to stick to any kind of cloth.
Only sometimes, the steam was struggling to come out but to be fair, I enjoyed so much that I kept on going.
Another good thing that may make any user nervous but worry not, I took the risk and verified, The iron press part of the item rest on plastic, you would think the hot metal will melt the base, but no it doesn’t, I have left it for a while and its all good.
Featurewise, press an unlock button on top, to release the water tray. The water tray has a wide mesh opening where I fill-up the tray and push it into position. Press the power button on the other end and wait for the LED blue blinking light to go solid before using. Flashing LED means that the steamer is still heating the water. Below the power button, is the water level indicator that will turn red after the level goes down.
There is a descale feature, I didn’t have to use it yet but overtime I believe this will be worthy.
Enough about good stuff. While that is all good, the price is too much. In this economy, who will fork out such money behind an iron product. I am only disappointed on the price.
OK from me. hence the 4 star.
This iron is a game changer! I actually enjoy ironing now and my husband was even keen to iron his own shirts! The iron itself is so lightweight and glides effortlessly over the clothes. You press a little button down to release the steam and any creases are gone in seconds. I have easily taken a good half an hour off my ironing time on a Sunday! You can leave the iron face down on the board and it will not burn! It can iron any type of material, even silk and again it will not burn, you don’t even need to change a setting when ironing different types of material. It has a large water tank, so you don’t need to top it up as much as you do with a normal iron. The only thing is that it is very large and I’ve not yet worked out where to store it when not in use, but I don’t care as it really is the best Iron I have ever had! I have a dress that creases easily but I’ve always been scared to iron it in case I ruined it, not anymore with this beauty! The price may seem expensive but I think it’s worth every penny! If you iron a lot and you’re never satisfied with the finish your iron gives you, then you will not regret buying one of these!
Philip is well known for smart appliances. This one is included, for sure. It’s so smart that can save my time and energy on ironing clothes or bed sheets. It is quite expensive, however, I do believe the price represents the quality. As for this iron, it’s very well made with quality material and design. And it can also change the setting from ironing silk to other fabrics automatically. So I don’t need to worry if It will damage my clothes or not. Very convenient, very impressive. Highly recommend, although it’s pricy.
All though it’s really expensive this is really good! It makes ironing a breeze and is top quality. Only downside is it’s obviously bulkier than standard irons but if you have the room I’d definitely recommend i
When you unpack this iron the first thing you notice is how light it is, it’s absolutely ridiculously light! We usually expect an iron to have some weight in it, after all that’s what helps when your ironing, but the light weight is unbelievable. It has a very clean/stylish design, the 1.8ltr detachable water tank ensures you have plenty of water for powering through your ironing and a lock feature helps secure the iron to the base unit. And powering through you will, with 120g of continuous steam and a very high 8 bar of pressure and a steam boost of 600g you soon see why the iron is so ridiculously light, it’s because this very light iron, has a very very high amount of steam power behind it’s light weight as you’ll see in the video. The one power setting is fantastic as it leaves you free to just get on with ironing. It’s very quick to get warmed up from switching on were you’ll see a stylish pulsing blue light as it heats up, turns solid blue when it’s ready to go, hold the power button in on the base and the light turns white for boost mode. Together with the steam power, the slick sole plate and it’s very very light weight you can power through the ironing without a heavy weight iron fatiguing your hand or arm, so if you struggle with hand strength, this IS definitely the iron for you. The iron has a built in safety cut off if it sits still too long, which is why it’s designed to sit sole plate down on the board which takes a bit of getting use to as you can’t stand it up on its end like we’re all use to, but again this saves time and energy as the iron is always in the ironing position. A super lightweight, super powerful iron that just let’s you get on with ironing!
This is a heavy and relatively big item. This steam generator means not only freshens up clothes but also helps reduce the ironing time.
Things I liked:
* very powerful steam generation (8 bar pressure)
* great for touching up creases
* kills 99.9% bacteria and germs
Things I disliked:
* very heavy
* cumbersome pipe
* iron water tank needs to be nearby
* setup and after usage is a big hassle
Overall, it might save you ironing time, but the reality is it takes overall longer if you factor in the setup (water filling) and after usage clean up. It’s great it kills germs/bacteria especially during the pandemic but it’s not very convenient to use. However, as a steam iron, it definitely meets my expectations in terms of performance!
Well, you get what you pay for! Priced at 349 at the time of this Amazon Vine review, this steam generator iron is very much a considered purchase.
It has some great features including a lightweight iron, automatic adjustment of the temperature of the iron to suit the material (subject to it being an ironable fabric) and no burns guaranteed, smooth gliding of the soleplate and excellent steam output, and a large and removeable 1.8L water tank (which is large being part of the generator so worth taking into account if you are short of space in your home and/or ironing area). Added to this, it also has my mum’s approval as it is very easy and straightforward to use, and she reports that it works really well and she gets through the weekly pile of ironing in record time!
Would I buy it? It is very expensive but it is a professional and good quality product. If it lasts for at least a couple of years then it will pay for itself in saved time and convenience. However, if it lasts a year or less then it will not be worth the money — I’ll update my review if this happens. It is however a well-known brand so I have high hopes of its quality and longevity. The final decision as to buy is of course yours and you will have to decide if the long term plusses of buying outweigh the initial outlay.
Love this steam generator iron from Philips, an absolute dream to iron with, only need one pass on my pants and shirts with this and everything looks much better with less work not like with a regular iron. I’ve had a similar iron before from Tefal but this one is much lighter and has a better design. There are a lot of steam holes on the sole plate and steam is powerfully shot out of each of those holes. It’s bulkier than a regular iron due to the huge 1.8 L capacity water tank. It has no setting option for heat, automatically sets an ideal combination of heat and steam, generates a constant steam for fast elimination of wrinkles without the risk of burning. No more scorched or wrinkled cloths after using this excellent product, I highly recommended it!
I have had my original steam generator for years and it has been superb BUT I cannot believe how much lighter this TEFAL PerfectCare 7000 is! It is so simplistic to use just fill with water, switch on and off to go. I love that this lightweight iron powers through a weeks laundry (including shirts, bedding etc) with complete ease.
There is no need to adjust the temperature control, whether ironing jeans or a silk blouse the steam generator adjusts automatically to the setting it needs to iron the garment. A fantastic steam generator that I love and is worth the investment.
This isn’t my first Phillips steam generator. They’re great irons, so I’ve always stuck with this make. This model is the same as the last one that I had, but they’ve increased the steam pressure even more on this one, which is great. These irons heat up quickly and have a big water tank, so you don’t have to keep filling them up. I don’t quite know how the technology works but the heat setting is suitable for all fabrics, which means you don’t have to sort your linens. You can literally jump from nylon to denims without changing any settings on the iron! I’ve never burnt anything since having these irons. They give a fabulous amount of steam, but you can even up the steam level further to 7.5 bars, which is great for some pure linen bedding I bought. This generator is worth every penny. It really cuts ironing time. I’ve got super king bedding to iron, and this iron is so good that I am able to fold the duvet cover into four and iron just one side of it (if that makes sense). It’s powerful enough to go right through the layers! Same with jeans, I only need to iron one side. I hate ironing and this makes my life much easier.
as you can see I very much love these irons although expensive I personally think it’s worth the price, would definitely recommend.
I have had many Philips products over the years, I’ve been pleased with all of them. But it has to be said, despite Philips products being well made, they do often provide a poorly written and presented user manual, often relying on confusing images rather than words to describe use and features. That is the case with this Steam Generator, the product is excellent but the manual is very poor indeed and impossible to understand.
However, user manual aside, this is a powerful and efficient steam iron that makes short work of ironing clothes. As a steam iron this certainly is a big unit, much larger than our existing steam iron that holds it’s water inside it’s body. This particular iron has a large base unit with a removable water tank on the front, the tank unclips for filling via a tap. It appears that tap water is OK in this, but it’s hard to be 100% sure due to the highly confusing manual.
The base unit plugs into a wall socket where the water is fed through and directed up a long pipe to the iron. The iron when not in use sits on top of the main unit on small metal plates where it’s ready for instant use. Just lift the iron, press the button to puff some steam through and you are ready to go. It does appear that there are no temperature controls for various fabrics, the iron is fully automatic and adjusts itself accordingly which takes some of the guesswork out.
There is no doubt that this does a fantastic job of steam ironing on top of an ironing board, it can also be used to de-crease clothing that’s on a hanger, but it does feel a bit big and awkward until you are used to it. As mentioned there doesn’t appear to be any temperature control on this, the listing describes that the iron is set to an optimal setting for all iron-able fabrics and does provide a no burns guarantee. For steam control there is just a single button on the iron, press the button and a powerful cloud of steam is puffed out, far more powerful than our existing steam iron. The only controls available are power on/off on the main unit and a button on the iron for steam, so it is easy to work out how to use this.
At almost 350 this does at first glance appear a little expensive, but this is no normal steam iron. If you are looking for a powerful and efficient steamer iron then I’m sure this will be it. It is quite simple to operate even with the hopelessly poor manual. Plus with this being made by Philips you can be confident of it’s safety and quality.

Thank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.
Easy to use. Simply fill up the tank and plug in the Iron. No need to find the right setting as it automatically finds it for you. Can also be used as a clothes steam on a coat hanger. The steam function is great. Simple instructions.
