My teenage son has recently got into fitness and he loves this watch.

Just perfect. Love it. Strap is terrible to put on though.
    Sleep tracking
    Fitness tracking
Long battery life because no GPS and other useless sensor eating away at battery.
Polar Flow is great to track your health (lowest heart rate and sleep etc).
Idle alarm so you get off the desk.
Light weight and small diameter so its not in the way.

Found the battery life to be a little disappointing. The heart rate monitor seems ok but watch needs to be pretty tight to register heart rate properly. Sleep tracking feature seems pretty good, no problems with mobile app thus far.

    Pros:
The watch is quite slim and not too clunky, which I find with some other brands. Makes it a good day to day watch as well as a sports one
I got this in the prime day sale for only 35, which was an absolute bargain. The watch is brilliant for that price.
Seems to accurately record steps, distance, and exercise.
The app is really good and tells you what intensity of exercise you’ve done. It also tells you how many calories that is and what you could do to achieve your daily exercise goals

    Cons:
Would be good if other sports were included, such as horse riding.
Sometimes if you move your hands too much while sitting it will count it as steps/activity, which gives it an inaccurate reading
Sometimes it doesn’t sync very well if the bluetooth isn’t constantly turned on on your phone
The strap is a bit of a pain to do up and pops off sometimes

Easy to set up and use , well impressed with it . Only problem is the strap is a bit awkward to do up sometimes. But you can buy different straps. It’s helping massively with my training it gives a good post work out analysis. Overall very happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat watch does everything I need it to, would recommend. My only concern is that where the strap is tighter on the wrist it has given me dry skin where I have sweated more when exercising and it rubs. Otherwise would recommend

Great watch rubs a little though

I really like it. Looks like new, no bother, fast delivery, Im really happy with it, the only thing it was my fault not reading the description properly and missed the fact doesnt have gps in it. So, Ill be giving it to my daughter and geting one with gps soon.

I love this watch! I can’t compare as others have as it is my first. First thing to say is that you need to press the button on the left to enter the menu to scroll for settings (some reviewers were confused about this).
I mainly bought it for exercise heart rate tracking for home workouts. Seeing what the different workouts do to my heart rate and the tips and feedback have helped me understand and adapt my workout schedule. The built in workouts are a little easy so I use these less and do my own. Sleep tracking (which I didn’t think would interest me) has also helped me adapt my routine and workouts as well as see patterns/possible causes when I have a bad nights sleep.
The battery lasts 4 to 5 days and charging is extremely quick.
Only con is initially the strap and charger a fiddly but you soon get used to this. It has blipped slightly about twice. But both times there was a reason (slipped down wrist as I had on too loose)
I went for a walk and linked to my phone gps – this was very easy to do. This tracked my route pace and heart rate accurately.
All in all extremely pleased with it and highly recommend (NB I got it for a very good price in sale – worth keeping an eye out)

Easy to set up and comfortable to wear. I like the spare strap – useful. The built-in exercises are great if you haven’t planned anything, or getting into exercise
It would be great to see regular top tips for usage as I feel I’m probably only using 30% of the functionality
    Would recommend

    Positives:
    – light
    – perfect size for my wrist
    – very good HR and step tracking
    – waterproof

    Negatives
    – short battery life (2-2.5 day average)
    – cannot customize the face watch
    – cannot customize which app shows notifications on the watch

Appearance – this is a smart fitness watch. I do find the face a bit big but I do have small hands and slim wrists. I will say that compared to some fitness watches it is very sleek and compact so I think it still does look stylish.

Setting up – I found it was generally easy to set up but you definitely need to follow the instructions. I don’t think it is as intuitive to set up as some fitness watches. I had no problem establishing a connection when setting it up.

Usage – I did find that it worked very well for me. I only want to track basic stats and these appeared to be very accurate. Compared to my partner’s (more expensive) fitness watch it does not seem to have as wide a range of functions so if you are very serious about tracking everything and anything this might not be the watch for you.

Battery life – I had to charge the watch every couple of days.

    BATTERY LIFE
Im so impressed with battery life. I use it all day with one 1 hour long training and it will last for around 3 days. I think it is very good for smart watch like this.

    DESIGN
The watch look really nice. What I like the most is that it isnt look too sporty. I can wear it with my casual clothes and its blends with the outfits perfectly. Comparing to other watches Polar unite is much thinner. If you have small wrist like me its really matter.
Strap is neutral black with pattern. At the beginning it was so hard for me to put it on. Strap was very stiff and holes seems to be smaller then the pin. After couple days strap adjust to my wrist and now it is super comfortable.

    FEATURES
Heart rate tracker works brilliant. I had some episodes of arrhythmic heart rate so Im happy that I can easily monitor it now. I also find pretty useful sleep analysis and workout monitoring. Oh and steps counting is very motivating. It really helped me be more active and have better understanding about my body.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing fitness watch

If you are a fan of fitness and like to keep records of your progress this watch is good for this.
The design is good and is waterproof, is unisex and comes with two different strap bracelet wristband one bigger and one small so is great in case you have a small wrist.

Looks well made and in good quality materials and resistant for a normal day training.
The battery life is good but I was expecting better, is easy to charge and is a great system, but you have to be careful of don’t lose the charger provided because is the only way that you can charge it.

You need to be careful when you first set up, I have to read the instructions a few times but I did at the end, takes me a bit of time to understand how it works but is great all the features that they have.

The GPS systems show you the speed when you walk and the distance, gives you the heart rate the time, you can have your phone notifications in the screen too and is easy to read it, this is great, I like this and I love that you can see the way that you normally sleep and your body had to relax during the night, I can’t believe a watch can do all of this. I totally recommended is fantastic.

This turned up packed in an attractive display box which kept the watch in perfect condition. It’s somewhere between the cheap packing of something like a Fitbit, and the luxury box you’d find on a Samsung smartwatch, which seems appropriate as that’s how I feel about the product itself.

Inside the box you’ll get the watch itself, a larger strap for those with bigger wrists, a charger, and the instruction manual.

The watch itself is very attractive. It has a smooth matte black finish, and is quite thin and light when compared to many smart watches. The included rubber strap has a fake moulded fabric texture similar to an Apple watch, which looks pretty good. It also uses an Apple style clinch which I found quite difficult to use, but was secure once closed. Fortunately the strap can easily be changed to any 22mm strap – I used one I had lying around and it looks great. It’s definitely a plus that you can choose your own standard watch strap, unlike many competitor products with fixed straps, or that are only compatible with overpriced first party straps that may not be exactly what you want.

I found setting up the watch to be fairly easy, though a bit confusing at first. I plugged the watch into a charger, then loaded up the app, however you will need to complete a couple of steps on the watch before it will connect to your phone. Once this is done the setup process continues in the app and is quite simple.

Using the watch is also quite simple, with only one button, and a full colour touch screen. The screen is bright and colours are good, however the resolution is noticeably low by modern standards, with text and pictures looking a bit blocky at the edges. The bezel is a reasonable size, but there is a flat bit at the bottom that kind of detracts from the overall decent look. Responsiveness is also a bit slow when scrolling through screens, which in 2020 is a bit frustrating given that I and most people are used to fast smart phone touch screens. The battery is also a little disappointing, lasting about 3 days on average. This is OK for a smart watch, but way too low for a fitness tracker, so be sure you will have some time to charge it. As the watch expects you to wear all day, including while you sleep, this kind of limits your opportunities.

The fitness features are a big selling point for this watch, and I thought they were surprisingly good. Rather than setting step counts or floor targets, you set an activity level and the watch tracks everything you do to contribute to this. If you’re falling behind it will suggest some simple exercises to catch up, or suggest stretching after periods of more intense activity. I did have some issues early on as it was tracking way too much activity. If you have a high heart rate naturally or due to medication (or ironically due to lack of fitness), the watch may detect you doing very little as exercise, though it does seem to learn over time and settle down a bit after about a week’s usage. Sleep tracking was pretty good too, with more detail than I’ve seen from other products. In fact, most of the stats are presented with an impressive level of detail which really makes the watch feel useful. It’s also worth noting that this watch does not have a GPS in it. For some reason the product description says “connected GPS” which just seems like an attempt to mislead the customer, which I find quite dishonest and disrespectful. There is no GPS in this watch, so if you want GPS tracking you’ll have to take your phone running with you (the app then uses the GPS on your phone).

For everyday smart watch stuff, the watch is able to receive a wide range of notifications which is really useful. Most of the time it gets them instantly, and will allow you to reject (but not take) Whatsapp calls from the watch screen. It doesn’t do this with phone calls for some reason though. One thing I did find annoying was that there is no way to filter which apps send notifications to the watch so you’ll get everything your phone gets. This can be problematic if you get a lot, ie you may want Whatsapp, but not Facebook or Instagram. The only way to cut this down is to turn off notifications on your phone.

Overall I rate this product quite highly as while it has shortcomings as both a fitness tracker and a smartwatch, it does fill the gap between them quite well, and it’s price clearly suggests this was the intention. In this regard it succeeds, as you don’t lose too much from either experience

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve had the pink strapped Polar Unite watch now for 3 weeks.
I’ve always used sports watches and fancied a change. So far I haven’t been disappointed.
I love the way it looks as well as being functional and records all of my daily activities. I’ve had a few compliments too. I’m an active person and really like all the functions to record everything I do. You can customise the training apps, with your phone to suit your lifestyle. The other great plus is the battery lasts for days and when it does need charging up, it’s really quick. The sleep app has been really good for me too. I’m not the best sleeper, so have taken interest in how my sleep pattern works. Also you can sync the watch with your phone so you get GPS connectivity and phone notifications via the watch if you want them. There are still a few features I have not tried out and lots of workouts too. In all a great watch for a good entry price which ticks all the boxes for me. I’d definitely recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great looking watch that also does a great job!

As someone who has not owned any sort of ‘smart’ watch before, the interface is relatively user-friendly. The watch allows you to personalise your experience with data entry such as height, weight and activity level, which also helps you for setting achievable goals in terms of training/activity regimes. In order to connect the watch to your laptop/phone it requires some installing of Apps that took a bit of time to set up but once completed the free app becomes a valuable companion to the watch. The watch itself is very comfortable, with an adjustable strap that is not irritating to the skin, the screen is of good size and very easy to manoeuvre. I do not believe the watch comes with a GPS tracking system but the sleep tracking and battery life is excellent. Overall I would say that this product is a good entry level fitness watch that is easy to use and looks stylishly simple too.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo where to start well this fitness watch arrived in a nice box, upon opening there is the watch itself a USB charger, a large strap to swap from the current small strap fitted to the watch. I would recommend having a quick read through the instructions, as i went straight into setting the watch up via itself and then when i went to connect my iPhone via Bluetooth, it failed to find the device via the polar flow app.
I then flicked through the instructions where it states they recommend to set the watch up via computer or mobile, once i had factory reset the watch again and set it up via the polar flow app it worked and connected first time, i presume this is why they say to set it up first via the app or pc.
The straps are easy to change and can be done in minutes if you wanted to change the strap size.
I have had this watch on now for 3 days and love it so much i can not stop looking at it i love the design and the overall layout of the device and the app itself.
Its really easy to use once you get use to the way things work and whats where on the watch itself, the app is fantastic and tracks really well, a great feature is it breaks down your sleep into sections so you can see all the different sleep cycles you have had.
Also it tells you your beat-to-beat interval, heart rate variability and breathing rate average which i have never seen or even thought about before and a total new feature to me.
The battery life so far for me is averaging between 2-3 days but i have been constantly looking at it and scrolling through all the features so i would imagine it would easily be the 4 days as stated if i was not checking it as much.
I did charge the watch when it arrived and found it does charge quite fast.
Overall this is a fantastic fitness watch and has become a great asset to my day to day life.

Review for POLAR Unite – Waterproof Fitness Watch for Men and Women with Connected GPS, Sleep Tracking, Daily Workout Guidance, Recovery Measurement – Wrist-Based Heart Rate Monitor.

A mid level fitness watch from a very good line of Polar fitness watches. A lightweight and compact with a glass fibre reinforced polymer case weighing only 32g, with a unisex look is suitable for men and women. A circular bright display is visible easily even in bright sunshine. The interchangeable wrist band allows you to easily customise and change the look of your watch.

Usual watch functions include time / date, alarm with snooze, Stopwatch and countdown timer with various call and message notifications to complement the smart functions of the watch.

The watch has optical wrist heart rate monitor allowing continuous heart rate monitoring throughout the day with full tracking throughout your chosen workout. The watch features several built in workouts for several different exercise / sports activities. Waterproof to 30m makes it suitable for swimming. The upto 50 hour battery life allows a good level of usage before recharging.

The watch doesn’t have built in GPS instead utilises connected GPS (via mobile phone) to provide GPS tracking for outdoor based exercise activity such as running or cycling. The accompanying PolarFlow app allows you to upload organise and analyse workouts easily. Overall a very capable mid level fitness smart watch with built in heart rate monitor and connected GPS with a bright clear display.

Seems reasonably accurate, software is decent. Screen is bright. Sent back a fitbit inspire due to dull screen and bad HR accuracy. So far, this seems much more accurate and can be seen outside. Though it is much larger, but still pretty compact compared to many current smartwatches.

EDIT: had to send off for a replacement because the screen just stopped turning on. Neither a flick of the wrist or a press of the button would work. Just received a replacement very quickly and am hoping this one lasts better because its otherwise a perfect watch/fitness tracker.

Had been looking to upgrade my activity tracker for some time & have considered a number of options over recent weeks. The Unite looked to offer the balance of features that as I was looking for at a reasonable price-point. As a predominantly indoor trainer, the lack of onboard GPS didn’t worry me although have to say that the hook-up to my I-phone’s GPS, which I normally use for walks, isn’t always smooth.

First charge took only an hour or so to get to c75% to enable me to complete initial set up. Had the watch for a couple of weeks now & experience so far is that claims over battery life are a little optimistic – I’m probably charging every couple of days, although I do anticipate periods where I’m inactive & charge then rather than leaving to completely discharge at a time when I may need monitoring. This without heavy use of the fast draining functions.

The data collected/provided offers a rich seam of information to manage & assess your performance & guide further training. Syncing can be a bit patchy at times.

Overall, very pleased with the acquisition.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this as a gift for one of my children (who’s been doing home workouts during lockdown!) and have posted their comments here:

It’s very light on my wrist and easy to set up. It looks really nice too. I haven’t been able to go back to the gym yet, so this watch has been perfect for me to do workouts at home with the Fit spark feature, which is very clever. It is definitely going to help me to stay motivated with my exercise and I can see that I’m going to enjoy all the sleep information too (my mum says it’ll make me realise I need to go to bed earlier!). There are so many helpful features that I need to get to grips with, but I would definitely recommend it.
