Good forearm exerciser. Like any exercise, gotta be done regularly to make it worth your while. Value for money. Don’t start with a gripper you can’t do more than 8 full squeezes with. You’ll waste your money.
Excellent hand gripper, I was surprised by how well made they are considering it’s only 14. I opted for the 250lb (black) which is quite a challenge for me, as at the time of writing I can only squeeze it to about the halfway point.
Simply a purchase that more than meets its description, at a great price…GAE
It did meet my expectation, I recomend start with 50lb, 100lb and make your way up.
bought because of the colour did not know the lbs was 350 but can squeeze just can not do all the exercises
Been using them for over a year and have really improved my grip. There’s not a jar I can’t open. For a man, they are the ideal starter weight (150Ibs). You need to be patient and start gradually to avoid a strain injury. There is a well-informed instruction leaflet provided. I’ve started using the red ones (200Ibs), but still use these blue ones as a warm-up.
The small ‘serrations’ on the grips ensure that your hands wont slip even when they are sweaty. The only problem with these are that they cut into your hand when you grip them tightly like your meant to and make your skin feel sore and develop callouses.
Also due to this product being all metal, they wont require washing or cleaning as much.
The price is justified as the build quality supports it. You have to go out of your way to throw them hard or something to genuinely damage these, the most you’d probably get is to scuff the paint on the handles.
Recommended.
This is an amazing product that is very effective at training your grip strength, my only criticism of this item is the dotted texture on the grips that make it very uncomfortable to grip tightly as it will rub heavily against your skin, this makes it next to impossible for long term usage of this product. I would still highly recommend this item to anybody looking to increase their grip strength.
Brilliant product however a little disappointed because there are some rough edges where the metal scratched me so I’d be careful.
Very good quality grippers! These grippers are very similar to Grip Genie. My 200lb gripper feels a little weaker than my coc1 gripper. My 250lb feels a bit stronger than my coc2 but weaker than my coc2.5. My 300lb gripper feels a little stronger than my coc3, however, my second model of 300lb gripper feels a little easier than my coc3. The 350lb gripper feels almost the same the same as my coc3.5. Finally, the 400lb gripper feels stronger than my coc4 gripper. Amazing quality grippers, just to give you some heads up, the handles are slightly thinner than the coc grippers, and are definitely more narrower as well.
I got the black one thinking it might be half the resistance stated, which I would have been able to close. The description is accurate as I definitely can’t close this, so that’s good… something to vaguely aspire to then.
I don’t think I’ll ever reach 250lb resistance without more consistent training. To paraphrase Pawel Tsatsouline: I can either stop being lazy with my exercise goals, or give up.
Ordered after having a PowerBall for some years and being happy with it and after finding the standard grips a bit easy, but having smallish hands struggling to hold bigger weights in the gym without support. After having this for several months and using on and off I can now close it and are looking forward to moving up a level. Would recommend.
Got this blue one two weeks ago. Have been training on it every day and see big changes in my grip strength already. 100 reps in under 3 minutes for each hand in the morning. Also bought 200lbs one (red), but not really ready for it yet. Had been buying and using different ones before but all broke after 2,3 weeks. This one feels sturdy and solid like on the day when I first got it. Great buy.
I would like to say that this product is up to par with its price. One thing you need to know that, when you squeeze the grip hard, you will feel a little bit uncomfortable as the friction on the surface is too rough. I bave been struggling in overcome the uncomfortable feeling. However, this can be eased with time
Bought to help recover strength in hands after a stroke and selected the 250 lbs one so it was still stiff enough to use after recovery. Very sturdy construction, although I may have overestimated my strength! Good construction.
Fan of the powerball brand since trying to boost my forearm and hand strength for racket sports. Been using a budget adjustable spring gripper that goes up to 60 kg. After closing that for 3-5 reps I fancied going to something a bit more challenging so bought the red and black. Two days I can half close the red and cannot even make a dent in the black. These feel solid and have a nice design. The reviews complaining about comparing to CoC are slightly over the top. These are literally half the price and feel super tough. Unless you need to know that you are gripping a certain weight I can’t imagine why anyone would have a problem with these. Works great with the power ball as a warm up. Not sure how many months of training it will take before I can close the 250
The difference for me in terms of effort between the blue version and the red version is just huge and insurmountable. It may be me but I’ve tried other grippers and these measurements seem quite off.
Other than that, good product as fas as I can tell.
As for the weights, I’m an 80kg male that does office work and is half fit! I can just close the 150lb, the 100lb is a reasonable work out for my left (weaker) hand and the 200lb I can about half close. I’ve also got fairly small hands. That should give you can idea where to start. My wife can almost close the 50lb.
The finish of these grippers is nice, the could are handy to quickly see which is which. The surface is a little rough but gives good grip and even my keyboard warrior hands can handle it! I do get the of squeak but nothing a tiny drop of oil doesn’t cure.
Overall a great buy, I can see lasting years. Just don’t overdo it initially, slowly build up the volume. Grip training takes a lot longer than just muscle strengthening as your tendons and ligaments have keep up too and have a lot less blood supply.
Edit: I can now close the 200lb easily and I’m 1cm away from the 250lb. It takes time and the 250lb is very tough for someone with smaller hands. The range of resistances is proving very useful to warm up. 250lb by Christmas!
I’m really happy with this one – stiffness feels about right. Sturdiness feels decent. I don’t know why all the factories that make these have decided that adding the criss cross metal design to the handles is a good idea, as they effectively become hand graters. However, your hands do quickly toughen up, and the metal overtime wears down to make them less of a pain.
Overall really like these – am considering getting the red one – which is the next step up.
With the gym being shut and not being able to do the farmer’s walk to strengthen my grip, I settled on the 200lb gripper. I cannot completely close this and would have been better selecting the 150lb one. Still, it gives me something to aim for! Ideally, I should have bought an additional one to warm up with. After all, you warm up when lifting weights so why not with these? From the instructions provided I notice that there are exercises for finger strength as well. Any mere mortal wanting to do the finger strength exercises should select one of the lightest ones, possibly the 50lb one.
Straight to the negative – the products has a really irritating squeak when used which annoys anyone else on the room, especially if a movie is on!
Otherwise it’s a good product with sturdy construction and good grip. Just a shame about the free mouse that came with it.
Good gripper 200lbs doubtful. Starter for someone with a lot of strength already.
250lbs is too difficult for me to close.
Painful on the hand
I’m large hand – 78kg – strong
They are pretty good grippers I just wish they would change their poundages. The black one I got feels almost the same as the CoC 2 except maybe 10 pounds heavier at most.
I already have CoC No. 2 (195lbs) but can only close it about 3-4 times. I bought the Power Gripper, red (200lbs), to compare to my CoC No.2 but mainly so I have one spare while I’m out and about. Surprisingly, I can easily do 10-12 reps with these, which in theory, should be more difficult than CoC No. 2. Considering CoC are meant to be the standard, and therefore assumed to be the accurate grippers, these surely cannot be 200lbs.
The red Power Grippers are slightly thinner (about 1.5mm), so being thinner should be easier to grip, but I doubt this tiny difference in thickness amounts to such a difference in reps.
I have now also bought the blue Power Grippers (150lbs) since they are good quality and good price. I will be keeping the blue for warm ups, but will be sending the red back and buying another No.2 CoC.
I got two of these, 50lb and 200lb (don’t forget to warm up!) and they’re great value for money.
I’m slightly sceptical about the weight, which feels a little easier than expected – I’d guess there is a margin of about 10% – but can’t fault the build quality so far.
They do seem to squeak slightly, which as far as I can tell is down to poor technique moving the handles in two planes of motion rather than directly closed. Whatever the cause, a little bit of oil stoped this immediately so not anything to worry about.
Overall I am impressed considering they are half the price of the benchmark for this type of product, which in my experience had all the same faults.
Would recommend!
+ Product came packed well, no damage.
+ Included information leaflet which helped me understand how to use a gripper.
+ Great quality gripper.
– Uncomfortable to use at first but my hand has since got used to the gripper (as stated in the guide).
Recommend buying this gripper, even though it is lower valued than most other grippers, it definitely works well.
Bought this for the intention of bettering my grip for deadlifting.
Product feels sturdy and the knurling is good. Can’t fault it, especially with the price. I’ll be ordering the next weight up in a few months.
Since then I’ve also bought the 50 to warm up with and the 200. Managed to close the 200 for the first time last night which i’m pretty happy about so will be getting a 250 to work up to and 150 to complete the range up to 250lbs. I will say go slowly at first. I hurt my hands a bit by overtraining the first couple of days.
The only thing I will say is I think they might be slightly lighter than they claim, this is purely subjective but I feel like the jump from the 100 lbs in this range to the 140 in the other range to this 200 I actually feel like the 140 is a lot closer to the 200. Doesn’t matter hugely to me and might just be in my head as the 140 was the one that beat me. Also they are slightly different sizes which may factor in. All in all highly recommend.
