Whilst having used the Amazon Firesticks getting this Smart TV made selecting things to see became even easier. Tremendous selection to choose from. Good size so that reading any on acreen text was possible. My best purchase for years.
I bought this for my 90 year old brother. I wanted something that would be easy to operate and give a sharp picture. This model does all that. It also came with an operating manual (almost unheard of now adays) he doesn’t have a computer so the manual is useful for him to refer to. It was a very good price so yes I would recommend.
Great tv, very light the only thing I found is the sound is not bassy but in a small room like a campervan or caravan it’s fine. Good quality tv and simple to use remote. Excellent value for money.
A good clear picture, and very suitable for my large kitchen. Extremely easy and quick to set up.
Only negative point would be the rather tinny sound, but most slimline televisions have that problem when not using an external sound bar !
A great and inexpensive way to stream movies, television, YouTube etc.
The newest version has better TV stands than previously. I would have given 5 stars however the sound let’s this great device down. Another drawback is that the TV is extremely fragile and far too easy to break the screen.
Good quality picture, sound is reasonable, only used it with a Firestick/remote combo as with other ‘smart’ tv’s, I always think the firestick remote is a better option than the clunky ‘smart’ side of things.
It’s alright, you can definitely tell it’s a cheap TV however, because it’s brand-new and such a decent size, you can ignore that it’s not a smart TV which is kind of disappointing since you can pick up a smart TV around the same size secondhand, but if you have an Amazon fire stick like I do that can also be ignored has two HDMI ports on it, which is reasonable also has a scart socket so if you have an old DVD player or gaming machine you can also hook that up to the TV which is amazing, not a lot of TVs have those anymore I’ve heard things saying this breaks after a few months I don’t see how that could happen, but I guess I’ll find out it’s easy to put together for someone like me, you will need a screwdriver to put the legs on but yes I do recommend it so yes in certain situations, this could be great for you
I just got this one about a month ago, easy to use, the legs were easy to fit, I think it is quite good and the price is also good
The Tv is incredible probably the best you’re going to get for a 100 pounds sound is fabulous and the screen is wide. I ordered the TV the day before it came on just standard delivery and it came the next day! Very good
Liked the look of the TV and how easy it was to set up the picture is a great quality. The only down side is the sound I prefer a sound bar but that’s just my personal opinio
We bought this for the back room as the one we wanted their was too big. This cost us 100 quid, so cheap as chips. Everything is good at 100 quid. Screen is a tad washed out, but only very slightly. Sound is poor, but good in the sense that you can hear it and it has a decent volume. Obviously, no musical audio qualities to speak of. All works out of the box and my Firestick works plugged into this thing. It is a very good TV for the price, but not gonna blow your mind! It’s very light! I though the box was empty when I received it! Haha, Rob 😀
Bought this TV for the motorhome so I could watch the rugby whilst away this week. I’ve bought cheap TVs before and often returned them promising never to buy cheap again. Well I broke that rule here and am very pleasantly surprised. The picture quality is great, tuning was easy although not the quickest I’ve come across but even in a motorhome you don’t do it that often so meh. The only thing that’s not so good is the sound but that was expected, unless you spend a fortune TV speakers and in my experience generally rubbish. I think TV manufacturers expect you to be connecting to soundbar or home entertainment systems. I had a cheap pc soundbar I bought from Amazon for 14.99 at home so moved it to the motorhome for the week and it works a dream.
Was easy to install with my DVD, FreeSat and speakers, and timed to watch the rugby world cup. No smart frills, which kept the price to a reasonable level. Excellent picture quality.
This product is truly a game-changer! I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I’m already seeing amazing results. It’s very easy to use and has a pleasant scent. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality product that delivers real results.
I was sceptical after reading some reviews about the sound system but it’s great just like others tv during a bright sun day you might have to pull up curtains as the reflection can get the screen dark.
Very pleased with this tv, we paid 99 for a 22″. We use it in our motorhome. The viewing angle is good. The few niggles are the tv guide isn’t very good and the sound isn’t brilliant but for 99 it’s definitely good enough. We actually ended up buying a 2nd one for the bedroom in the motorhome so we now have one in the sitting area and one in the bedroom area. Other brands were hundreds of ‘s which we couldn’t justify just for the motorhome
Had a cello that got knocked off and with a cracked screen was useless. Was looking at another cello and this popped up. Seems a much better quality of picture and sound not too bad. What rate this better than Cello although could have another usb slot and further apart for a fire stick (need the extension adapter for them both to fit)
The sound through the speakers is a bit dodgy, but I use headphones via a Bluetooth adapter, and it works well enough.
I only use the tv for watching a Fire Stick whilst on an exercise bike, so the picture quality doesn’t bother me too much.
This is for the 32 inch android model.
I was a little concerned at some reviews here.
The TV we got is a proper UK model with Freeview play and BBC iPlayer, itvX , ch4 , 5 player etc preloaded
Easy to set up using your phone
Streams very well
Decent picture , sound is acceptable but typically lacking in bass as with all modern slim TV’s
The interface is excellent but not the fastest.
All in all good value for a fully featured smart TV
As an advantage being android it will play usb files using VLC playe
Everything works great. Easy set up. Was fine the first day. Second day, there was a ant crawling around in the actual screen. Don’t know how as its in the bedroom and I don’t have a ant problem. So yeah. Great but..
I bought this TV to replace a perfectly good one which was a disaster for wall mounting (Samsung). The fixing for wall mounting were perfect on this TV. However, if you apply too much pressure when bolting on the TV mount the fixings fall through into the back panel.
Anyway, I had to remove the back panel to retrieve the mounting fixings, then redid the fixings without pressure and in the end was all good. Just a lot of faff.
This TV was very easy to set up. Perfect size for bedroom picture and features are grea
TV works great for what we need it for (mainly Xbox) but the iPlayer app that was installed does not work, even with updates of the software and apps.
Honestly it’s the best tv easily available on the market with its nice size to outstanding features. this tv has more than what you pay for, out of the box it preformed like magic everything from the remote to the setting UI is very intuitive and easy to work with.
Does what it says on the bottle, easy to setup.
I am pleased with the t.v , it arrived well packaged , easy to set up
Clear display and sound. Found the picture looked best on Dynamic mode and the sound better on Movie mode. Easy to use and happy with it.
I previously spent 300 on a “smart TV” and it was so up its own **** that it could not do normal terrestrial telly! It was so overcomplicated and geared to all the so called “smart” channels that to make it just do normal TV required a masters degree!!!
The RCA RB42FD1 42 inch TV simply works with an aerial, which I’m sure a lot of people simply want, and if they are stuck in understanding what to buy for simply watching TV – you know, the way it used to be way back in the past? – well this set does it. Yeah, it’s suitable for us old folk. Long may “RCA” make it!
Got this TV as it fits in a TV bed perfectly, simple to set up and picture and sound quality is good for a TV at this price, only fault I have so far is BBC iPlayer is not currently available, hopefully it will be sorted, I’ve mainly bought it for Prime and Netflix but anyone that is buying this specifically for BBC iPlayer then I would avoid, More 4, My 5 etc all work fine
I just needed a TV to watch while on my treadmill each morning. This TV was perfect in both size and price so I purchased it. Within minutes of it arriving I got it up on the wall bracket and set up the TV aerial and tuned in the stations. Only then did I hear the terrible speakers. They sound Tinny almost like cheap car speakers of the early 1960s. Straight away I was online to get a small soundbar to overcome the problem and I also have the option to use my headphones, but they get a little sweaty on a treadmill.
Always read the reviews and believe them before choosing a product. I just wanted a cheap TV to use for 40 minutes every morning so I didn’t really care too much about the sound.
The screen came cracked, I contacted Amazon, they gave a code to go to the post office to send it back.
A few days later I was payed the whole refund
The tv is compact and ideal for the bedroom or kitchen. I have fitted mine on the bedroom wall, on previous bracket. It was easy to tune and is a good picture. The sound is a bit tinny but it’s ok for the bedroom. For the money it’s ideal.
I like that it was easy to set up and great value for money. The only thing I would change are the legs there are two far apart and it doesn’t fit on my tv stand so need a new tv stand
Great little TV. Ideal for kitchen, Kids room etc. Super easy to set up if you have an existing google account. You can connect your phone to the TV to have it set up in an instant! Great range of apps and features. I did find that no matter how many times I adjusted the settings the screen did look a little over sharp, but I don’t think this is enough to bother most users.
Now, I have to say, the thing that lets this TV down the most, is the sound. It is horrendous. Imagine you put your TV in a tin can and seal it off…yeah that’s what the sound is like. This of course is not going to be a issue for you if you plan on using headphones or an external speaker.
Other than these issues, I simply cannot fault this TV for the price.
I bought this TV to replace my old bedroom TV (Samsung UEH5500). It’s a good replacement and if it wasn’t for the poor audio quality, I would give 5 stars (Samsung had a much better sound). At least it can be paired with a BT speaker (I used my bed side Lenovo Smart Clock, modest audio quality but yet much better than the TV!). Pairing it with BT headphones would be a good option too.
As a bedroom TV, it does the job. I like the freedom of adding almost any android app. I use some from Synology (DS Video) to watch my own collection of movies , something that only GoogleTV/Chromecast and Samsung allow so far.
The interface itself is not extremely fast but works fine. I suspect that it’s part due to the Wi-Fi which only finds the 2.4G access points (unless the antenna is too weak to detect the 5G signal from my 2 routers)
For less than 200, I’m more than happy with it.
Note: Like so many now, this TV has not central stand, but a pair of feet located on the edges. As a result it would not fit on the cabinet where the Samsung used to sit.
So, I mounted on the wall it with the inexpensive “PERLESMITH TV Wall Bracket” (ASIN: B07Z7FQCJ9), wichi is just perfect for this light VESA100 TV!
Brought this as a cheap alternative to put in the bedroom. It seems to do the job, it is not a smart tv but managed to connect Amazon fire stick which works perfectly. Tv is a bargain for the price, only downfall is that the image quality isn’t as good as a bush tv or Samsung but for the price can’t complain. Definitely worth it if you’re on a budget and want to put in the kids room or spare room.
Ordered to upgrade my dad’s old 32″ Sony. At the price point it was worth a try, even though some reviews were negative.
I was suitably impressed with this TV enough for me to order one to replace the one I have, as this comes with a DVB T2 tuner (mine is a DVB T) which means that it has Freeview HD channels.
Fingers crossed mine will be just as good.
Update: mine was delivered super fast and even on Bank Holiday Monday.
I have managed to watch some football on the HD ITV channel, and the 60hz kept up with it well. Great HD picture and sound is decent.
I have also connected an old Wii using the provided cables in the box. It works.
There is a scart connect, which I have attached my old VCR to. It works.
I have used the usb to power my Now TV stick. It works.
I have used a USB stick to record live TV. It works. However, there are absolutely zero instructions for using this function so it is very much up to the user to work out. The usual recording via EPG is there, which means that on a TV / Freeview box with a single DVB tuner, if you are watching something at the time it will switch to the programme you have set to record when the time comes.
I have zero idea how to delete anything from the usb using the TV either: probably have to take it out and connect it to a computer and do it that way…
As with the first TV, when the box came it was so light I wondered if there was even a TV inside. The TV is so lightweight that I would have 100% confidence putting on a bracket on any of the walls in my house. Even a plaster board partition.
At this price point I am very happy with the TV. Time will tell of long lasting quality.
(Btw, I haven’t tried the 3.5mm out yet, nor the optical out. Nor do I have ‘cable TV’ or a satellite dish, which this also has connections for…)
In case anyone is wondering after all of the above, I have docked a star for a few reasons:
1, is that it ‘only’ has 2 X HDMI when my preference would be for 3.
2, there is only 1 USB socket, so there has to be a choice between making it a smart TV with Now/Firestick/Roku etc (for USB to power) or as a stick Freeview recorder.
3, the remote has to be pointed almost exactly in a straight line to the sensor on the TV for it to register. It is supper fast when it does, and is something that I will get used to, but it is still worth mentioning.
The last time I bought a TV was 10 years ago so I am comparing it with a something that is over 10 years old. My old TV only came with the BBC iPlayer and a couple of others that required subscription whereas the RCA is fully up to date with all the catchup apps. The tuner also turns out to be quite sensitive – I live 37km from the transmitter that is also behind several walls (I live in a mid terrace) and yet it is able to pick up all the channels with an indoor aerial. However,
1) there doesn’t appear to be a way to search the EPG. On my old TV, I could search by name or category (e.g. Star Trek or film) and see what (live) programmes are coming up. The only search that appears to be available is for on-demand content;
2) the IPTV “data” channels such as Vision TV don’t work. Considering that they work flawlessly on my 10-year old TV this is rather disappointing. Hopefully it will be addressed in a future software update;
3) there is an option to add “wireless audio devices” to the TV, devices such as speakers and soundbar with the graphic also showing headphones. I have not been able to get it to detect my bluetooth headphones;
4) the remote is essential the same remote used in a Roku streamer slightly modified for a TV. As such it is missing some common buttons like one to turn subtitles on and off with a single touch.
For the price this is not a bad TV although it can be a lot better.
Update:
I have now had the TV for nearly 2 weeks. The Roku App turns out to be quite useful and mitigates some of the shortcomings of the remote control. Using the app’s voice input, the many clicks that were previously needed to turn on subtitles can now be achieved by simply saying “turn on subtitles”. To open a “channel” (an app in Roku speak), you can say something like “launch ITVX” to launch the new ITV app.
Live TV may be paused if you connect a flash drive to one of the USB ports. However, beware that a current bug causes the pause buffer to be wiped if you turn off the display, so if you get a phone call in the middle of a programme, you can pause for up to 90 minutes but do not be tempted to turn off the TV screen to save electricity.
I tried to ask the seller about the failure to play the Freeview data channels through the Amazon website but did not get any response. There is no information in the supplied manual on where you can get technical support. Neither the Roku nor the RCA website list this model. I fear that once the Amazon return window passes, getting support may be tricky.
Update 2: April 2023
A couple of days ago the TV updated to Roku OS 12.0.0, build 4171. The update broke all of the Freeview catch up apps. Any attempt to launch any one of the Freeview apps from the home screen results in an error message saying “Channel Unavailable”. The only way these apps can be accessed now is via the EPG. With the EPG up, press “*” and select an app to start from there. The update is also causing the “private listening” audio to break up. Usually this can be fixed by toggling the headphones on/off button on the Roku mobile app. All in all, this is a poor update and it is not recommended.
Update 3: April 2023
The problem with the Freeview catch up apps has been fixed. Unfortunately, most of the Freeview data channels still do not work (see attached photo) despite the OS update.
