Despite the bag capacity saying 30L, this can fit a more stuff than my expandable up to 40L plus bag. This is likely due to the external waterbottle holders and the generously sized outer pocket.
More structure to the bottom of the bag would be nice, but if you pack a couple of items at the bottom you’re good to go. The straps while looking a bit small are actually fairly comfy. I have not felt the need for a hip belt (a removable one would be awesome), but more padding a bit wider straps would be a solid improvement point if Red were looking to upgrade the bag.
All in all, the bag carries weight well and comes packed full of features. Cheers!
The bag’s overall quality is pretty good but I have some concerns over the durability of the plastic buckles. I feel like they could have made some sturdier buckles especially at the price.
The shell of the bag itself feels good and after walking through the rain with it, I can safely say that it is indeed water resistant.
One thing I will not is that although it can fit quite a lot of things in it, it’s hard to get things out as the rolltop design means the opening at the top doesn’t let a lot of light in, making it hard to see inside.
I also wish they had added a bit more structure to the bottom of the bag, as it can fold and crease if you don’t pack it carefully. It can get annoying cause those creases will poke at your back while you’re wearing it.
Despite the flaws, I enjoy using this bag. It’s stylish and versatile, with the ability to compress (roll) when you don’t have a lot of things in it.
This bag is really good but it could be great!
First off – the good stuff:
It’s big, holds plenty of stuff and is very sturdy and well made. Large compartment is waterproof (tested today on a rainy boat trip!) Has handy pockets on the side for drinks etc. The roll top works well and is secure and easy to clip. Has a removable section which fits my MacBook well. It’s fairly comfy to wear for long periods even when very full.
The downsides: it’s big but the opening is quite narrow so it can difficult to rummage around. Same with the front pocket. It’s also really hard to see to the bottom so you have to tilt it to the light! Another issue with the size is, if you have arms the size of a tyrannosaurus like I do, can be tricky to reach the bottom! The material on the outside is quite rough, like a very fine sandpaper. Maybe it will soften in time? The straps could be a bit more padded as they are quite thin.
I’m going to stick with it (mainly coz it cost me 100 and my husband said I wouldn’t like it because I need compartments so I have to prove him wrong) but I’ll probably revert to my tried and tested Osprey when he’s not looking.
