Resident Evil 4 Remake (PS5)
Resident Evil 4 Remake (PS5)
• Reawaken a Classic – Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
• Modernized Gameplay – The team from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series’ modern approach to survival horror. Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas and collect useful items for Leon and Ashley’s constant struggle to survive.
o Overwhelming Hordes – Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
o Survive on a Knife’s Edge – Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before your knives break.
• Reimagined Story – Resident Evil 4dials up the original release’s key feelings of loneliness and the fear of enemies blinded by zealotry, while providing more nuanced depictions of the character motivations and relationships that defined the 2005 survival horror icon.
• Sophisticated Visuals – Built on Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 4 delivers breathtakingly photorealistic visuals in 4K, complete with stunning lighting and pooling shadows to create an up-close, intense atmosphere.

Wow what a game I’ve played through this game seven times and I was still not bored of it by the time I done everything this is definitely one of my top 10 favourite games of all time and the mercenaries mode is awesome too alongside the main game.
I’ve played all the Resident Evil games ever since PS1 days. Loved them all. I have been enjoying the remakes over the last few years, RE2 was amazing, RE3 was good, if a little short, and finally we have RE4. Not only is this the best Resident Evil remake, it’s also the best Resident Evil game ever made. It’s even better than RE Village. It’s well paced, has great voice acting, good graphics, excellent lighting, and a wide variety of enemies. It is more intense and to survive you will need to keep your wits about you and adopt different tactics. I recommend also the excellent dlc “Separate Ways” where you play Ada Wong’s side. A good 7 or 8 hours long campaign that is really well done. I give this game a strong 10/10, a masterpiece of survival horror and is highly recommended.
Resident Evil 4 Remake (or RE4R for short), is an intense survival horror game that will keep your toes up throughout the whole game.
As a first time in the series, I thought it was Really fun, even though I am typically too scared to play these games. The gameplay is easy to understand, you have limited amount of space that you need to manually organise so you can fit weapons, ammo, resources (used to craft) and health to use throughout the whole game; you can also buy more space and certain locations with the money and treasures you’ve found on your path, which also can give you new weapons as well; and while it may still seem small, with how much ammo, health and resource you waste, you are going to be glad that you got that extra space.
There are a variety of weapons in the game, some you’ll use often and some that will be last resort stuff.
The enemies are also tough, even some of the weaker enemies when there are hordes of them, and while some have weaknesses, you better be prepared as your resources will be drained (I even had points where i had no ammo found for ages after the encounters or before), though luckily they leave some. Especially when it comes to bosses, which I barely survived one of them in my first attempt.
The story of the game is fun, the main character you play, Leon, is tasked to save the presidents Daughter, from this place somewhere in presumably Spain. The characters are charming, especially Leon, who you will love someway or another. Also if you like some lore, this game is packed with it, and I will probably check the other games in the series for this reason as well, besides everything else of course.
The graphics are also really good looking, and the game has a few options that allow you to improve it more with stuff like raytracing or strand-based hair if you desire. The game has a really stable framerate at 60fps that I didn’t notice any hiccups at all besides one part that didn’t occur when I Respawned; though I played it in framerate mode, which has lower resolution than Resolution mode, so it might be a bit unstable in that mode but I haven’t checked.
Conclusion, if you want a intense survival horror game with a fun story with characters and lore you want to know more, I think this game is for you.
Played a bit of the original on PS2 , used to give me nightmares. Bought a PS5 about a year ago and was very excited for this to arrive. All-round fantastic game, best gameplay of any RE game to date and excellent graphics to match. Definitely not the best graphics I’ve seen on a ps5, but as far as action horror games go this will be extremely hard to beat for years to come.
The action mixed with the story line gives such a nice balance and as soon as I finished it I just wanted to start again.
10/10 game
I played the original and have played through this remake several times now. What’s not to like? It has plenty of trophies to complete, plenty of action and a decent amount of challenge. I’d forgotten the merchant interaction but suffice to say – “welcome stranger” is now fast becoming a family catchphrase. Ashley is as annoying as she was in the original game but it’s good fun to slag her off and absolutely worth having to reload from a save by shooting her if you feel the need
This is how you do a remake, the team at Capcom have done a wonderful job at recreating Resident Evil 4. The graphics will blow most people away. The game world looks breathtaking. Resident Evil 4 is considered to be the best game in most people that know and love the franchise. Capcom have managed to retain the core gameplay from the original Resident Evil 4 while giving it some fresh new game mechanics. Leon S Kennedy is as badass as ever with a few more skills to his attributes.
To sum up Resident Evil 4 Remake is definitely worth buying its superb, and who in the gaming world doesn’t want a stroll down memory lane?
I never played the original version so I’m not able to relate it in any way to that but this game has so much going for it. Best of all it’s a lot of fun and there are a lot of things to collect and achieve. The different weapons to collect or discard means there are a lot of permutations to finish the game. There are the usual puzzles to work out in order to progress. It’s not totally linear as there occasions when you can back track. Graphically the game is excellent but it isn’t without the occasional glitch. Collision detection is not 100% perfect. Sometimes limbs pass through walls, and enemie’s weapons can pass through your body unharming you. I’ve even thrown an enemy into another and it passed straight through him! This doesn’t spoil the game or detract from the action though, so it’s still excellent to play. More games like this please Capcom
This is an excellent game with strong and varied combat mechanics which is enjoyable! The improvements in the combat mechanics from the original are quite significant and the enemies now are not generic. Now, the enemy variety is plentiful which had me cycling through all the weapon-types off-the-fly at my disposal (a much appreciated change, just like in the other remakes!). The combat is quite strategic, you will certainty rotate through the hand-, shot- and machine gun as well as sniper rifle for dealing with the different the enemies types on encounters. There are the heavy damage “explosive” weapon-types which are used sparingly i.e., the Heavy Grenade and Stun Grenade (best explosive weapon!). Lastly, the most interesting mechanic is the melee combat which has been significantly improved – it revolves around two things: 1.) knife for direct combat and for parrying “lethal” attacks and 2.) a prompt button for inflicting physical damage after an enemy is staggered. The melee combat especially the round house kicks are satisfying. Those who appreciate this style of combat will love this game!
I will start by saying I have played and completed the original version of resident evil 4 if you have never played the original, skip the first paragraph.
The remake adds a significant improvement in graphics along with some game play additions such as the crafting that were introduced in the resident evil 2 remake. Capcom have remained faithful to the core story of the original release but there are a few changes, some new sections, side quests and some back tracking is encouraged for useful rewards (not just for the sake of it, are actually worth doing).
The biggest negative of the orginal version was Ashley who could be annoying to say the least, this has been fixed and the character now becomes are good part of the story instead of a sidekick you want to shoot. I personally was never a fan of the original quicktime events, these are also gone. This has not meant key moments have been removed, in fact they have been improved by the new gameplay mechanics such as the knife.
Anyone that hasn’t played resident evil 4 before, this game has a excellent graphics, great story, characters and gameplay. The game will be around 20 hours for your first playthrough but the game is highly replayable and future content is planned in the form of the mercenaries mode.
I did not observe any bugs or concerns when playing on PS5, it was very smooth and polished.
For both those that played the original version and those that didn’t, this is highly recommended, the quality is up there with resident evil 2 remake or any AAA game today.
May change review after 100%
An awesome game 15 hours in thus far. Runs great. Controls well. Some genuinely great jump scares. Super inventive while not overshadowing the OG. Definitely recommend for new and old players alike. Lacking in the post game content in my opinion. More unlockables would have been nice, no classic RPD uniform 🙁 , MERCS/SEPARATE WAYS set to be DLC and I’m not a fan of the deluxe content being locked away behind a paywall.
Despite nitpicks this is a must play. One of the best games of the years so far xxx
Resident Evil 4 was one of the first console games I ever played, back in the days when the Gamecube was cutting edge.
I bought the game again for every new generation of consoles. Though the graphics looked progressively less impressive and the controls seemed ever more janky, RE4 kept the top spot in my all time top 5 games.
Now it’s back, revamped and extra shiny for the latest generation.
I’ve only played to the end of the big village incident (if you’re a veteran, you know what I mean. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s best you find out for yourself).
My first impressions are good enough for me to offer a 5 star review!
They’ve kept pretty much everything that made the original great but changed things up just enough to make it a novel experience.
To all you RE4 veterans out there, rest assured, they’ve done a good job restoring it.
To all you noobs, be informed, the finest hours of your gaming lives are just ahead of you!
