This digital radio is without doubt the best I have ever owned. Tell Robert I send my heartiest congratulations on a superb product. I ordered it on a whim, but when I heard the sound quality I got so excited I fell off the whim and broke my arm, but that is a minor inconvenience.
I knew the sound quality was something extraordinary when my next door neighbour shouted angrily that he hated Placido the dingo. I thought I was listening to the Sex Pistols and it was only when he started banging on the wall that I realised I had tuned in to Classic FM by mistake. I’ll remember to switch my hearing aid on next time. But my neighbour is the sort of person one likes to annoy so this was well worth the money.
The radio is a lovely colour and is such a beautiful shape it reminds my of my nose.
I’m slightly disappointed it doesn’t get the light programme or Radio Luxembourg. I hope these can be added to future models. I would be willing to buy again.
Not sure what happened to the duck egg. Maybe it hatched in the Amazon van, but I’m allergic to them anyway so I got lucky.
This is an attractive styled product in a colour I like. I am now able, easily, to enjoy music related from my mobile phone where I want to.
There’s a saying you get what you pay for and this proves that saying . Not only does it look amazing but the sound quality is amazing , it’s crystal clear and you’d think a much much bigger machine was delivering . Wish we’d bought one years ago instead of wasting money on rubbish . It’s also easy to set up and preset stations and you can Bluetooth playlists from your phone , bonus !!
Checked on Which? and this radio got a best buy rating. Very pleased, easy set up, using direct from mains so can’t comment on battery life. Attractive design and the pastel cream colour looks good.
Great radio with a good sound. Highly recommend this one.
This is one of the best products I’ve ever made.
Looks really nice in my kitchen.
The radio sounds deep and clear.
It stores loads of stations and connects to Bluetooth devices very simply.
I was needing to replace a similar looking but much cheaper radio which had stopped working properly fairly soon after purchase. I looked into a number of models, and decided to spend more and go for the Roberts for quality. I’m so pleased I did! The sound quality is excellent, and the radio itself looks great and feels robust. It’s easy to use too. Good customer service from the seller.
A good design well constructed.
Crystal clear reception.
Colour: pinky red, not to my taste.
Base too loud.
Adjusting to -8 made no appreciable difference.
Bluetooth pairing excellent, works seamlessly.
In general, available colours unattractive.
Robert’s need to sort out the base and consider stronger colours for customers who do not wish to live in pastel heaven.
4* because this little box packs a punch and more than holds its own at this price point.
Would recommend with the above caveats.
As I use this radio in the bedroom the sleep mode is wonderful. Depth of sound is great and the set up really easy. My colour choice of Leaf Green is lovely. Roberts quality shines through and the radio is just perfect for me. I have not had the radio long enough to be able to comment on battery life – in fact I always have it connected to the mains.
Excellent sound quality and very easy to use. DAB radio stations are easy to find and save as favourites. I have it plugged into the mains so I can’t comment on battery life. This is my first Roberts Radio and I am extremely pleased with it. I bought it in Duck Egg and it looks great in my new kitchen.
Whilst the radio is very good, I am less pleased with the fact that the delivery driver did;nt knock or ring at the door but left it on the step ! How silly is that. It could have been stolen if my husband had’nt noticed that the porch light had come on. Please tell drivers to alert the people inside first before leaving it outside. It’s obvious, is’nt it.
Excellent sound quality, even when in max volume. Easy to use and Bluetooth works great to stream music from iPhone. It was Christmas present for my wife and she loved it.

Super Stylish Radio
I bought this radio in the sage green colour and it looks perfect in my cottage kitchen.
As well as being stylish, it is easy to use. There are a number of channels where you can preset your favourite channels which makes it perfect for a house where multiple people live who all have different tastes
It was simple to set up and the sound quality is crystal clear.
It runs on batteries or by a cable which makes it portable and versatile.
I’m glad I made the investment and hope to enjoy my radio for many years to come
Love this little radio it keeps me company while I cook etc:
It sounds suprisingly better than I would have imagined. Easy to use and stylish.
Great quality and looks lovely. Used plug as batteries didn’t last long at all.
Superb sound quality and 100+ radio stations + Spotify via Bluetooth , very happy.
Superb radio in design and quality. Not my first Roberts and won’t be my last.
So far so good, very expensive but the ‘ Wireless’ is my main source of information & entertainment it’s on almost 24 hours a day . ‘Duck Egg Blue is beautiful , sound quality is fab . one other reviewer suggested using the ‘ Jazz ‘ sound . I tried the rest & he is right . Jazz setting is the best for me too…. rather sad to see it’s made in China. however there seem to be few products that are not ……….
This radio is great. Really easy to tune-does it itself. Bluetooth to Spotify, or your chosen music streaming device. It also looks great. I haven’t yet tried it with batteries as I wanted it for my kitchen and just use it plugged in. My only criticism-and it’s for all Bluetooth speakers, is that it can’t switch between users easily. You have to turn off your Bluetooth if someone else wants to play something. Standard annoying blue tooth speaker stuff. Still a 5 star product. Looks cute too!
Reduced price on this colour which I find is not offensive in the least. Hubby set it up as he likes gadgets and being all masterful! Sound quality is excellent.
Unsure about the purchase initially, but one we received and have used it, are now delighted with it. Well screwed together, sound quality and signal strength (in the countryside) are 1st rate. Definitely recommended.
Great quality radio as you can expect from Roberts. It looks and sounds A1. The box was a bit battered so I’m guessing it was returned previously which annoyed me but I wouldn’t be messing around returning it.
The instructions with the RD70 are really clear and it’s relatively straightforward to operate/set up. The sound is rich and quite ‘bassy’. It’s good to have the opportunity to adjust bass and treble, BUT my only slight beef is that on low volume the treble (in voices for example) is lost. If you’re hesitating, DON’T. It’s a great product if a little pricey.
I hope this helps
User manual linked from Amazon product page says 4 x LR20 (D) batteries, but it’s actually 4 x AA cells.
That manual also shows power/aux/aerial on the rear side, however the connections are below & the aerial is on top & cannot be angled
The (very) bright red covering and gold trim could be regarded as blingy or slightly feminine, but one gets used to – it simply looks very smart and very retro … until one spots the LED screen! Excellent build quality. Excellent sound quality, with equaliser to set tone/bass levels as desired, or use the pre-set genre options. Bluetooth pairs immediately with tablet or other device. Battery life (4x AA Alkaline) is perfectly acceptable for a DAB radio … using radio for low background music in my small home office a new set last at least 20 hours … presumably more volume would reduce battery life significantly. Very pleased with my purchase.
Did my usual thorough research before I purchased this, you can get similar traits in a radio for a lot less money but the feedback on the Roberts Revival seemed solid, so I went ahead and pushed the button.
Delivered quickly, quality build and really great sound from this radio !
Would highly recommend if you’re in the market for a superior dab radio.
It is a very good quality radio with great sound quality and (unlike earlier versions of Roberts Radios) very easy to use. I programmed all the stations in which I am interested (many) into the pre-sets without even referring to the instruction booklet, something that I still haven’t managed to do with the bedside Roberts radio that was given to me (as a present) 5 years ago (despite regular reading of the instructions booklet).
Good radio; worth the money in my opinion…
I was a little disappointed with the shade of the colour which was a little cooler in tone than it appears in the photos. But no big deal. If I was trying to achieve a perfect match to other greens in my room I wouldn’t have bought online. So… I’m very happy with my purchase.
Smooth sounds with cool lux looks.
Easy to set up.
It works beautifully as a radio.
One thing I noticed was that when you use it as a bluetooth connected amplifier to another device, such as my Macbook pro laptop, the volume at its highest is not as high as my Bose amplifier.
Also, unlike the Bose, it has no inner rechargeable battery so you can’t unplug it and have the speaker closer to you – but no doubt that feature is a considered one, because such inbuilt batteries fails to work so well after a few years – which is what is happening to my Bose – thus shortening the life of the piece of kit. So you have to keep it plugged in unless you use normals batteries which is a faff. That said, this is a lux listen and a lux look. It is solid and heavy and feels sumptuous. Looks great on my Smeg fridge! I expect it to last a lovely long time. I would like it louder though. If any tech person from Roberts is reading this – is there something that could be adjusted?
I would buy another one in a heart beat, but it could have been perfect. These are the points that could be improved:-
1. A built in Li-Ion battery would be better than the 4AA batteries that are required if using it unplugged. However, this would need to be done without increasing the size of the radio which is perfect.
2. A single push button to jump between stations along the frequency spectrum in order would have been useful for me. I like to scan the stations if there’s nothing much interesting on.
3. The alarm time resets to a default value if you don’t use it. Meaning that you have to set the alarm time on each occasion you want to use it if you turn it off.
I was surprised how many radio channels there are on it! :- jazz, radio1-4, various local radios, 1970-1990s channel music; also channel pop hits etc. It can also be programmed with the few that you want to hear. OLD am , radios hiss a bit from static. So you can listen to a new update, or half hour dialogue on impeachment if you wish! It does not have short wave ; so you cannot listen to foreign music , as far as I can ascertain.
This radio is very stylish to look at but also offers great sound quality. It was very easy to set up, even for someone like me who is not that technically minded. I was amazed how easy it was to set up the bluetooth connection so I could use it as a speaker to play songs from my smart phone through. I really like the fact that it has a graphic equaliser so you can choose what type of sound to have. I found the original setting a bit too base toned for me so selected one of the other settings. This is not a cheap radio but the quality of sound and additional features have justified the purchase for me.
Not so the RD70!
Great tone, deep and resonant, without losing the top end. Has a graphic equaliser too, with presets and the facility to customise sound to suit your ear.
No case rattle, with intuitive, easy operation.
Comes with DAB, FM and is future-proofed with DAB+ and Bluetooth connectivity, excellent for podcast lovers, audiobooks, or streaming music from your phone or tablet. It had two handy alarms, and a sleep timer, enabling you to nod off listening to the radio.
If I have one criticism, the colour screen is small, so reading glasses required if your sight isn’t what it was. Also, very much a mains unit, this radio eats a set of AA batteries in a day.
Overall though, one of the best radios I’ve owned in a long time, tajing the listener back to the time of Hacker, Grundig, and indeed Roberts during their FM golden age.
