Ho avuto la possibilit di provare questi scarponi sia in condizioni di caldo (32-33) per del trekking in Calabria, sia per un escursione alla capanna Margherita a 4556m (-10). Sono molto soddisfatto del mio acquisto: in condizione di caldo questi scarponi hanno permesso ai miei piedi di “respirare” e non li hanno fatti sudare;
I am normally around size 9 to 10 shoe. I bought a size 11 boot, which fits me very well. I had absolutely NO problems with blisters. As you can see from the photos, I wore these boots in snowy conditions in Scotland and my feet were perfectly warm with double socks. I really liked the “cinch” lace hook which basically holds the lace under tension so that you can get a tight fit when lacing up. However, after 60km of walking over 3 days, my one ankle was tender (nothing to do with the boot I don’t think – more my prominent ankle bone!), I loosened up the top part of the boot and still had no issues with movement of my heel in the boot. So a big win from that perspective.
They were also totally waterproof, even when I walked into streams etc. I have now done around 40 hours of walking in them and still perfectly waterproof. The water just beads off the boot. I suspect this will eventually wear off but for now, it works very well.
The only issue I had was that they felt hard underfoot. The soles of my feet felt rather battered by the end of the 3rd day. I did put in my own insoles (nothing fancy – just a set I had with me) that may have helped, but I do think I will invest in some decent insoles before my next big outing. There isn’t much cushioning in the boot sole.
All in all, I am pretty happy with these boots and they certainly offer great value for money. I give them 4 out of 5 (losing 1 star due to the underfoot comfort).
I bought these boots to go hiking in winter in the mountains (uk) so they had to be able to take crampons. I was a little worried about buying these as I was unable to get the ladies boots in my size (9) and so went for mens. They fit perfectly, I didn’t get any blisters and my feet stayed warm and dry throughout. I’m quite slim built too and they didn’t feel too heavy for me. I would recommend these boots, I’m so glad I bought these. Great value for money too!
So, so impressed with these boots at the price point. Salewas boots have a good reputation and rightly so, they have been designed for the Dolomites, which kinda means every type of environmental conditions!
Love the way these boots were comfortable straight out of the box! I walked striding edge and Helvellyn without breaking them in.
Suffered no blisters, nothing, was truly amazed. They performed well, stable, strong, tough and warm enough. Not tried them in the wet yet but we shall have to see
Very comfortable boots tried all the top brands before for the price best boots I’ve had
Brilliant grip in mud ice and snow done over 100 miles already no blisters discomfort or leaks.
Would highly recommend will definitely buy again.
These boots are expensive but you really get what you pay for. They don’t let any water in, they’re breathable and the they are the first boot I’ve ever worn that doesn’t run or give blisters. They also fit crampons for more technical climbing. All round excelle
Got boots 0.5 size up , I usually wear UK 9.5 but bought UK 10 on previous buyers advice. Perfect fit . Well constructed boots with hi spec materials. Very similar to early Scarpa Rebel lite boots that I wore to destruction in the Scottish mountains. Got these to replace newer model Scarpa Ribelle HDCL which didn’t suit my foot shape.
The Salewa boot is a good fit with customisation possible with different footbed options. It has a great Vibram sole for precision rock climbing/scrambling. The tread pattern and heel design are adequate for loose scree and soft muddy ground and snow. Crampon compatibility and light weight combined with Gore-Tex lining make for an excellent boot for Scottish winter outings. Will be buying these again .
I bought these, well I ordered my first pair. Size 10. A 9.5 arrived. I returned them and ordered a size 10 replacement. I waited over a week for them to come. They eventually came. A size 9.5 again. Now I tried the first pair on and they felt tight. I was going to send the 2nd pair back after having an argument on the phone with Amazon about the mix up again. Then I thought I’ll try them on again, because they do look good. Surprisingly this time, they fit great. Size 9.5 on the box and boots. I don’t know if the sizes slightly differ but they fit. Took them on a short 8km hike up castle crag. They fit great. 100% waterproof, the grip is fantastic. Not sure about the sizing but everything else is top notch
Took a risk online purely due to how cheap these were compared with specialist walking shops. My feet are too big for most standard shops e.g Decathalon so don’t have many options for boots.
Fit – half a size smaller than the UK size (check the EU size against your normal boots). Have a dual footbed with removable inserts. I’m still not convinced this is good. Without the insert the fit feels great but I can’t lace tight enough to stop my heels lifting out. Add the 2nd insert and perfect fit for my foot but not as much support on instep or heel as this space has been filled. If this helps they fit more like climbing boots then walking boots. But once bedded in very good.
Construction is excellent.
Durability seems fine for now
Waterproofing is very good so far with no leaks.
Criticisms- I need a better footed but that’s my foot shape. A bit tighter than I would like but have stretched fine with wear. As a Goretex type boot this was a safer risk as they all stretch a bit. Would have not risked the fit with a leather boot.
Overall I’m really impressed with what you get for value for money versus performance. If you have normal width or narrow feet I would recommend nothing else. For me, my feet are massive flipper like objects so a bit more tinkering with the footed is needed to make them perfec
A Snug fit would advise half a size bigger. Not a lightweight Summer walking but. More alpine or mountaineering specific. Great brand and product . Would highly recommend.
Very good hiking shoes, im not sure if its just me and my brother, but after 9-10 hours of hiking i could barely feel my feet when i took them off. This shoes quite hard and were doing really good during hiking, they have slot for half automatic crampons which is good advantage.
Summary:
These are the best hiking shoes I’ve had, completely waterproof, comfortable, grippy and they keep your foot and ankle very secure.
Fit:
True to size, also I struggle with ankle injury and these basically enable me to hike, they keep joint secure, yet mobile enough to walk comfortable. They are not very flexible – but that’s a feature, they are suitable for crampons.
Sole:
Vibram sole is very grippy and number of times I was amazed how well it kept me on the track, in fact few times I expected to slip and they kept me upright!
Waterproof:
Waterproof is complete, not just grass, but you can dunk them in the water and stay dry – I tested this not just in action but also in the bucket when cleaning shoes.
Comfort:
Blisterfree guarantee just works – there’s not a single area which would rub or chuff, even when I lace very tight to keep my ankle safe.
Lacing:
Easy and secure, quick to lace and unlace, once again can’t stress enough how secure ankle feels in these.
Used these shoes over the weekend to climb Merrick, which at 843m high, is the tallest peak in South Scotland. It was relatively comfortable on the get go, especially since I haven’t really broken then in before the trip. The terrain was as expected going up as we just followed the main tourist path, where it really shone was on the way down we went off-piste. We walked along Buchan Burn and it was certainly a slog of a walk… high tall grass full of holes that were designed to break your ankles. The worst (or best bit depending on perspective) part was as we descended the valley it became a boggy mess. It wasn’t helped by the fact that you have tall grass masking the sludgy boggy mess underneath. But the shoes kept my feet dry. Even after falling knee deep into a bog at one point (thanks partly to my hiking trousers that kept the bog away from seeping into the shoe), it was perfectly happy. Removed my shoes once we got back to camp some 8 hours later and I am surprised how it didn’t let any of that boggy mess in, and more importantly, it did not look like a sweaty sauna mess. It was dry and the goretex breathability really did its job. It’s currently sitting in the garage covered in what looks like a crusty layer of black snot… waiting for a wash after that boggy escapade.
Only 2 downsides I can think of:
1. I am borderline UK size 8 with my street shoes but I wished I went a half size up to UK size 8.5 for these mainly due to the fact that it has an aggressive profile probably more suited for an egyptian foot profile. I have more of a Greek profile and my little toes were rubbing up against the tip of the shoe. My big toes were perfectly happy though. So if you are on the larger/tighter fit on your UK 8 street shoes, go a half size up and get thick socks.
2. They are surprisingly on the heavy side.
Delivery from Germany to UK respecting the indicated time at the order. The boots were utilised on mixed hilly areas including a shallow river at a southern coastal area of England for around five hours of hiking covering about 17 miles. Could not be any happier – excellent results, no blister neither any discomfort and fully waterproof. came with three fitting options in the form of two additional soft rubber undersoles, one half and the other full length. Rigid soles may seem stiff at first but you will get to appreciate it if you walk on lose rock for the security it provides. Just make sure to couple them with the thickest wool socks you could find
These seem really comfortable, with a great sole and seem able to take anything. They are super stiff so great for climbing in technical terrain, and crampon compatible. I did have to return them due to a slight squeeze of the pinky toes (a problem with my weirdly wide feet so wouldn’t put this down to the boot) which became worse when I tried on with thick hiking socks, and would have got the next size up but none were in stock. Will put on my watchlis
Great boot nice styling ! Something a bit different from the norm. I have a pair of Nepal’s and now with these I can alternate between both depending on temp
Bought for winter hillwalking and ability to take a C2 crampon. They claim to guarantee no blisters. I’ve worn them just twice / a short 2 hour hike and a longer 5 hour hillwalk in mixed conditions- they performed excellently. I love the customisable insoles – a great idea. Lacing system could be better but it’s similar to most 4 season boots.
Everyone on the girls holiday looked at me funny for wearing these in Venice for our 4 day holiday…. but who had warm and comfy feet when it was -8c? Me!the inly downside is they are a tad heavy, gives a great leg workout.

2nd pair from Salewa and still perfect, fit perfectly for hikking and mountai
