Samsung drives are just the best, the drives are well made and fast and the best of all you get the Magician cloning software for free making it super easy to replace and old Windows drive.

Having come from a GT1030 build with a 500HDD, this m.2 as my boot drive has been like magic lol. Absolutely killing it with performance, doesn’t kill my CPU, and is exactly as advertised.

    5.0 out of 5 stars It’s increduble

I bought the Samsung 512GB NVMe SSD for a older Dell Inspiron which came with 1TB HDD. Installation was straight-forward. Performance of the laptop has increased many fold. Happy with the SSD till now.

I’m building a new computer so slowly assembling the parts, when I saw this listed on amazon and at a price that was hard to ignore.

Really very happy with it, it currently resides in a NVMe portable enclosure and is doing portable hard drive duties until all the desktop components are gathered and ready to be assembled, and I must say I am more than impressed with its performance as a portable hard drive, so really looking forward to experiencing its abilities as the heart of my new system.

I only gave it three stars for gaming as I do not play computer games so gave it three as a neutral score.

Highly recommended and fully worth its five stars from me.

Using this in an old micro PC and getting good transfer rates. It’s not quite as fast as the 990 but it’s at least four times quicker than an old 2.5″ SSD.

Always worth watching the fluctuating NVMe landscape. Sold for 27.95, (500gb) Whilst this is still only PCI 3.0 it’s still a great bargain to bolster your storage. I will be watching the 1TB version too for the same reason – both the 500Gb and 1TB of this model currently offer great value.

Okay, I rated it three stars for installation because the screw I had to use to secure it in place on my motherboard was insanely tiny, I lost the damn thing three times before finally getting it locked down. Other than that the drive went right into the M.2 slot and was secured in place for use. It’s a fast drive too, not the fastest out there to be sure but it’s still better than using a SSD (sata) or a HDD (sata) for games which is what I got it for. The price per GB is good too and from a known brand so, if you’re in need of an M.2 drive then this will more than do.

Great little m.2 SSD, but improved my PC performance immensely.

I’ve read a few reviews saying they got a knock-off version of this item, but that’s a reflection of the seller, not the item. That being said, I did inspect my product when I received it to ensure it was genuine.

Now it’s put to shame the other components in my PC now my bottleneck has moved.

    Highly recommend this quality SSD!

Like all things known brands will be expensive but an item like this can flip flop in price almost daily. I managed to snag one for 36-38. Similar prices to other brands I know but I trust Samsung as I have had other SSDs in the past for myself and others.

My motherboard had a second slot which was PCI3 only so I bought this to store a game onto. It is now a dedicated second SSD drive and works great. Easy to install on my board.

Prime delivery, on time, easy installation on my laptop. Work great first time no issues. A replacement ssd for my old laptop. New breath of speed very pleased. Will buy again replaced a 2TB ssd I purchased for the purpose from a competing make that just didn’t work. I returned that but this Samsung 980 pro is staying with me. Excellent value purchase. A shame the less costly 2 Terabyte ssd from competing make failed to work because I would have liked the extra space.

Quite easy to install, have had no problems with downloading and uploading speed, got it at a decent price on black Friday too. I would say it’s worth it to buy at full price but i didn’t so i’m not sure. however it does as intended and proved to be very useful to me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFrom the outset, the speed of this SSD took me by surprise. The advertised up to 3,500 MB/s isn’t just a marketing gimmick, but a reality. It swiftly executes every command, be it moving large data files, gaming, or simply booting up the system. The lightning-fast speed is something I greatly appreciated, eliminating the waiting time that was once part of my daily routine.

What truly sets this SSD apart, however, is the Samsung Magician software. The interface is user-friendly and it comes packed with features. Of particular note was the ability to adjust over provisioning, which allows to me reclaim more of my space and bring it closer to the advertised amount. I found it a delight to be able to customize and manage my storage with such ease, a factor that brings me great peace of mind.

But where it truly shines, beyond its impressive performance and software, is its affordability. Priced at only 39.99 when on sale, it truly is an incredible bargain.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy gaming pc was running out of space with the preinstall of starfield. As my motherboard had a second unused m.2 2280 slot I could just slide this in and the job was done.

The only criticism I have is that there is no mention on the box of the size of this drive. I had to look out up on ebuyer to make sure it was a 2280 sized drive.

My other m.2 slot was a 11080, so this may not have fitted.

Firstly the 1TB capacity of the Samsung 980 provides ample space to store your operating system, programs, games, and files. It strikes a balance between affordability and storage capacity, making it a practical choice for most users. Whether you’re a gamer, content creator, or simply someone who demands high-speed storage, the Samsung 980 meets your needs without breaking the bank.

Installing the Samsung 980 is a breeze, thanks to its M.2 form factor and NVMe interface. However, it would have been convenient if the package included the M.2 screw required for installation. Despite this minor inconvenience, the Samsung 980 remains an accessible option for users of all experience levels.

In my opinion, the Samsung 980 is a reliable and high-performing SSD that offers impressive speeds and a generous 1TB capacity. Its easy installation process, coupled with its affordable price point, makes it an attractive choice for those looking to upgrade their storage without compromising on performance.

Bought this to upgrade a 500gb SSD that wouldn’t let me have more than 2 AAA games installed in this new modern day gaming hell where every game has a 200gb+ install size. I got a really good deal on it so kudos to the seller, and shame on game developers for neglecting the virtues of compression.

I had bought this to replace a smaller intel drive and use as the boot drive. Unfortunately when I swapped it over the pc would not let me instal windows 11 as it said it was not tpm2 compliant – despite it being windows 11! Not sure if something on the intel drive! Anyway I bought a m.2 sabrient caddy that slots into the 16 slot pci express and now have the m.2 installed and the intel back in place. Windows 11 working again – will try suss out what is going on and then try install boot onto the samsung

I installed this in my ASRock X99 Extreme4 after it failed to recognize the 990 Pro I purchased. The installation is super simple, the speed is great and at almost a third of the price of the 990 Pro, the value is amazing. It’s not going to work in your PS5 so don’t even try it, but if you have a motherboard that supports PCIe 3.0, then this is definitely one of the best drives you can get. Make sure to install Samsung Magician as well to upgrade the firmware and enable over-provisioning if you want it.

    Great value

Let’s kick this off with saying, I got this on a deal and I only spent 57.29 on it. I think that’s an amazing deal and the whole reason I bought it for being that low. I was going to get it for a later date but I’m too much of a geek I kept on checking on it. I guess now I’m checking all my PC components if they’re on deal everyday. Anyways, the product is just perfect. I had no issues with it and oh my gosh I’m so thankful I swapped it with my hdd xD… the difference it makes. Overall it’s just incredible, super worth it and doesn’t disappoint.

    Perfect. Just perfect!

Took a mere five minutes to install on my PC. Most of the that is actually opening the case itself. You just need to get a heatsink PCIe connector and you are done. Then set it up as drive on your machine (Windows in my case). I use of flight sims. Copied 80gigs from an internal SSD in half the normal time. I already have 3 SSDs on my machine so this was an easy way to add more storage.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFast SSD but in my MacBook Pro (2019) it doesn’t hit the top speeds… But strangely is faster at writing than the onboard Apple SSD, either way it’s about a hundred times fast than my old external drive so everything seems to happen at warp speed, and the camera I’m after takes 4k video so I’ll be looking to make full use of it.

    It's a good SSD, but...

Could not believe the speed this installed Windows 10.

    Blazing fast.

It’s an OS drive so can’t report in gmaing speeds. However a larger storage size would be fast for gaming.

I have bought several Samsung SSDs in the past both SATA and M2 Nvme. Some of these are quite elderly now but none of them has failed and all have produced the speed/performance on the ticket. This particular drive was purchased to replace a failed ssd in an HP Envy 13 laptop which is about three years old. As the old drive was completely goosed and I could not recover anything from it, I required a fresh install of Windows then reload various programs and restore data which was safely backed up.

Mention also to HP’s support site which when you enter the model number will scan your PC and produce a tailored list of required drivers, etc.

Rebuilding was easily done on a Sunday morning and the laptop is running, if anything, better than new with the Samsung having superior read/write speeds to the old unit. Samsung is a little more expensive than other brands but in my experience these are the best units you can buy for longevity and performance.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersBought this to update my desktop by cloning my existing HDD. Now its up and running. It seems to work fine and it is clearly miles faster than the HDD. I was reluctant to turn my machine off at night before, because of the wait in the morning when it was rebooting. Now its down to about 10 seconds so I get to save some power. Only 4 stars because of various niggles.

You need an M2x3mm retaining screw and possibly a stand-off to install it properly , and neither comes in the box, although it would cost Samsung pennies to include them. This does seem to be the same for other makes too, but if you haven’t bought one before you don’t know, because neither Amazon nor Samsung tell you on the product page. Samsung’s free cloning software doesn’t work on disks with Bitlocker turned on and it’s a lot harder than it should be to find that out. Turn it off, wait a few hours for that to finish and the software then works mostly fine. Although I had several ‘Backup Partitions’ on my HDD and only one of them made it to the clone on default settings.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI ordered this with the advice that it was on a 3 day turnaround for delivery and most surprisingly it turned up the following morning.

I purchased it to replace my old 1Tb mechanical OS drive. As the original drive had a Windows 10 installation that weighs in at 265Gb with various apps and wotnot, and was taking upwards of 2 minutes to boot, I wanted something that would give me room for expansion and faster loading times.

My motherboard is a slightly older model that supports M.2 nve drives and it took a bit of fiddling to work out which slot the drive was supposed to be fitted in but after about an hour and half of messing about and playing with the BIOS settings, I had it installed, and was already using the Samsung Magician software to update the firmware and install the drivers for the SSD and start the migration process.
Moving the OS to the new drive was a piece of cake. Once finished I just changed the boot order and restarted from the new SSD. Boot times were infinitely better than the mechanical HDD; around 25 seconds (to be expected) and this far I am more than satisfied with the performance. It’s possible to tweak the performance further via the Samsung Magician software but you do so at the expense of storage space (cautious estimates are around 10% space loss).
Whilst I’m knowledgeable about such things, I’m not going to put things like read write speeds and all the other IT mumbo jumbo that bamboozles the common man and gets the geeks hard. Suffice to say, this is a good, affordable drive packed with a decent warranty, easy to fit and transfer data from a big name manufacturer.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersAs I found myself glaring through endless pages of hard drives for my gaming PC, I realised it wasn’t going to be easy to decide. Sure, I knew that I wanted something fast to replace my aging SSD’s, but I never thought I would come across something so fast.
I decided to have a look at the Black Friday sales and saw this gem going for 71.99. This price is phenomenal. I waited and once I got it, I cloned my C: drive to this new NVMe drive, removed the old drive and voila, once my computer started within less than 15 seconds it was straight into my desktop ready to go!
I decided to test it out before moving large files and the speeds were out of this world. I knew once I filled the drive with games and files it would slow down a bit, but having filled it up to 83% I can safely say the speeds are still absolutely phenomenal. It really makes my bog standard Samsung SSD (SATA version) look extremely poor in comparison.
I am so happy with this drive so far that I have decided to order another one for my remaining NVMe slot. Astounding.

Just for reference, I have a system with a i9 10900K CPU, RTX 3080, 32GB DDR4 3200mhz RAM and am using Windows 11. If you look at the photos I have posted with this review, one of the drives is my old SATA SSD, whilst the much faster drive is the Samsung 980 NVMe SSD drive at 83% filled.
