Bought after researching alternatives and had mid expectations as this is Samsungs entry point to 4k. Have been thoroughly impressed.
Only real complaint is the stand didn’t feel the sturdiest when clicked in but TV has held up fine.
Importantly, the actual screen is fab. The 4k quality is incredible for this price point- with good colours and minimal bleed. The HDR is meh but as it’s only HDR10 you can’t expect much and for HDR10 it’s nice with deep blacks and clear whites.
The speakers are perfectly ample for a small room but may be drowned out in a larger space. The UI is good and intuitive, AirPlay 2 supports 4k and works well which was a huge plus for us. Automatically recognises HDMI devices so no need to remember which is which is surprisingly handy. The remote is solar and USB-C which is also very convenient. Only had a week but very pleasantly surprised so far. Would 100% recommend.
Standard Samsung but decent price and fast delivery. Service fitting was just extraordinary service – give the couple that removed old tv, installed new one. Set up, removed and cleaned everything up and even helped me set up and did remote training. First class service – anyone at Amazon please give this couple as many bookings as you can they were fantastic!
Looks fabulous in my sitting room Picture excellent sound a but quiet evon on full volume but a sound bar rectified the problem
Very pleased with this TV. As described with lots of additional features. Easy to set up using smart phone.
Delivered on time within given time frame
Great picture quality, only annoying point was that it kept defaulting to Samsung TV when setting up the terrestrial channels for an elderly Aunt!
All my previous experience was brilliant no complaints only last order said delivered check All home near me small enough to go Letterbox
I’ll start this review by saying I know nothing about technology. So my review won’t cover all the technical details, but simply what I like and what I don’t.
After reviewing and comparing what seemed like 100s of TVs, and not understanding half the features and gumph in the details, I decided to stick with what the brand I know and a new released TV in the hopes it will last a few years. My previous Samsung was doing okay still, but it no longer supported ITV Hub/X and something had happened to the subtitles, which I heavily rely on, and I could no longer see.
So, how have I found it? Picture great – the picture is sharper than my old TV. Sound is good, sometimes needs changing between channels but I’m sure this can be sorted in settings. All the apps work as they should, and all the usual and most used apps are there.
The remote is a little on the small side for my fat fingers, but manageable. I’m still figuring out the solar remote.
As I said, I know little about technology, but I’ve seen a few people mention having to re-connect to the wifi. If my previous TV hadn’t been a Samsung I would have presumed the same. What you need to know, is that the wifi takes about a minute or two to work. On my old TV it would come up that the Hub was updating. On this TV, a message comes up saying Error and directs you to reconnect the wifi. This is not needed. If you wait, the wifi will connect and you won’t get the Error message. Even if you get the Error message, just be patient and it will connect.
For me, this is a great TV, and I would definitely recommend it to others.
I wanted a good quality TV at a reasonable cost which was not too heavy so my wife and I could easily carry it up to our attic. This 50 in TV at 418 does the job. It has a great picture. After all the bad reviews about the sound quality I was pleased to find the sound was to my ears very good. I can also listen to it via Apple AirPods. The supplied remote is ok but a little fiddly. I use the TV with SKY Q which works fine except some of the features such as volume control do not work with SKY remote and so for example the Samsung remote must used for volume control.
Product is good quality with great sound and HD picture quality. Would call it complete Value for money
This is a great TV. Massive size, clear picture & really easy to use. Remote control is solar powered. Easy to set up too.
I had to play games and bought this tv and no surprise it works great. Love the solar remote
Colours are not great and the display is not bright enough
This is a great tv for the money but be very carful the screen breaks very easy if u put a thumb on the screen when moving it chances are u will damage the screen so be very carful
Please, how can you call this a smart television. Every TV company wants you to sign in. Buttons are tad on small side. Good picture? Could really use an extra HDMI connection.
The Samsung 55-inch TV is a popular option for those looking for a large, high-quality TV. With a 4K Ultra HD display and HDR technology, images are crisp and clear, with deep blacks and vibrant colors. The TV also has a motion rate of 240, which means there is minimal motion blur, even during fast-paced action scenes.
The design of the TV is sleek, with a thin bezel and slim profile that will easily blend in with any room decor. It also comes with a variety of connectivity options, including four HDMI ports and three USB ports, making it easy to connect multiple devices.
One of the standout features of this TV is its Smart TV capabilities. It comes with the Samsung Smart Hub, which allows users to access a variety of streaming apps, including Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. The TV also has built-in Wi-Fi, so you can easily connect to the internet and stream your favorite shows and movies.
Another feature that users appreciate is the included voice control remote. With this remote, you can easily search for content, change the channel, and adjust the volume without ever having to lift a finger.
Overall, the Samsung 55-inch TV is a great option for anyone looking for a high-quality, large-screen TV with plenty of connectivity options and Smart TV capabilities.
Great picture and appears to be quite user friendly for the not so tech savvy like me. Nothing wrong with the sound and this is in a standard double bedroom. Only downfall is how short the cable is to plug in. Had to improvise on a ‘shelf’ for it to sit and reach an extension lead so it’s not dangling
The legs have 2 positions for height adjustment. One of mine didn’t work due to the plastic moulding. I rectified this with a piece of cardboard so the TV is raised up. The TV needs a lot of setting up with passwords etc. I eventually got there. I told myself the picture was very slightly better than the LG it replaced-but you do don’t you. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Great value for money. I haven’t commented on sound as I use a sound bar with sub woofer-I think everyone should if they want decent sound .
This is a really nice looking TV with an incredible picture. It’s very slim and elegant and looks much more expensive than it actually is. The build quality is really good as you would expect from a Samsung TV. I especially like the solar remote control! – why don’t all TVs have this??!
The only thing that lets this TV down is the smart hub. There are a really good selection of apps – everything you could want in fact but they are not 100% reliable. IPlayer for example sometimes has to be selected a few times before it loads (but majority of time is fine). There are also hundreds of channels on Samsung TV, none of which we would actually watch! The kids keep putting on the cartoon ones which are stuffed with ads which is a shame as we usually don’t let them watch TV with ads.
These issues aside – a beautiful TV with amazing picture and really good value.
Picture quality is very good.
For sound I prefer to connect a soundbar, there was some tinkering involved and adapters. Best if your soundbar supports HDMI eARC. Works with optical but you can’t adjust volume then.
Quite annoying is that the TV always tries to run Samsung TV plus app, even when I removed all the channels. I only watch on demand content (netflix, Disney etc), so don’t want this TV app but it keeps popping up! I don’t want it, it was difficult to get rid of it.
The picture is brilliant which is the main thing. Sound is mediocre but then again it always is from built in speakers so get a sound bar as well. The menu structure for the smart features is OK, nothing brilliant but useable BUT, the remote control (the solar powered one, the TV comes with 2 remotes) is just a ridiculous add on invented by someone that has clearly never actually owned a TV. Breath too hard near it and it will mute, change channels, change inputs or a multitude of other things that you don’t want it to do and the buttons on it just don’t make any logical sense, trying to get back to where you were once this ridiculous device has decided that it wants to watch something else is not easy either, it is the worse remote control I have ever used. Buy the TV & throw the remote as far away as you possible can.
MY USER EXPERIENCE FEEDBACK
Delight of use:
– Set up is super easy, simple and intuitive.
Picture quality:
– SPOT ON! really impressed, but seems this is what the value is based on.
– Colour range is spectacular as you would expect for the price and brand.
Sound quality:
– I assume because it’s a slim TV, there’s not much space for OOMPH! This however was a bit of a surprise, when you spend a small fortune. I didn’t expect to have to budget further for decent sound. I struggled to watch the first few things with the sound being really high on TREBLE with no BASE/depth
A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
Speaker suggestion in description:
– It would be nice to have a suggested SOUND SYSTEM to budget with your purchase.
– Other than this point of frustration of having to cop out more cash for a more cinematic experience, keep in mind that there’s no INPUT JACK for sound, so you would have to get a bluetooth set/soundbar.
I still highly recommend this one, especially being a UX/UI Designer with a fine eye for colour detail and picking up on little things, I’m really happy with this purchase from a VISUAL perspective.
