I needed a new phone and automatically planned an upgrade to another previous Samsung S. series. After much research and deliberation, I decided to purchase an A. series, which was better value for money. The only drawback (some may say) is the A. series does not have a glass back. I personally do not find this a problem as I always use a phone case. I find the cameras are of much better quality than my previous S. series. FIVE STARS.
hanks for the royal mail-ordered on Friday and arrived on Tuesday morning, sadly reading the enclosed information, one discovers that the team is not for the British market and the guarantee is not valid in the UK,otherwise, everything seems as described
I am thinking about purchasing an additional phone as a backup as well as offering me 5G network. However, to my disappointment it seems that Samsung is abandoning the full dual SIM facility in many of its new models. Instead they are Hybrid-SIM which, unlike my present A51, only caters for either two SIM cards inserted, or one SIM card and one microSD. Please Samsung, go back to full dual SIM and not this useless Hybrid-SIM on your new models.
While everything about it seems great (of course in comparison to my old phone), I have found it doesn’t seem to respond while the charger is plugged in and whatever I try to press just sticks.
It all works and it seems pretty quick to me
It has really good battery life and a quick charger, so unless you buy a phone to impress others save your money
It’s a Samsung its Android it has Knox so no security worries
The A51 arrived promptly. It was securely packed and in mint condition with security labels in place. Using Smart Switch (make sure the correct version is downloaded on your old phone) the transfer was automatic. 2 hours later and I have customised the home pages and am enjoying using it. I am hoping that the battery life will be an improvement on my S6.
As a phone, the A51 is good value for money, For its price, you get a high-quality camera with various modes, a fast system that can load apps in a short amount of time, and a sleek design that feels natural in your hand. The A51 also has a battery life which can easily last me the whole day without the need for a full charge and with 128GB capacity, I will never need to worry about storage agai
This was a replacement for a Samsung J5, which due to its paltry 8mb of RAM couldn’t cope with storage or App functionality. The A51 is somewhat of a revelation, and with 128 mb of RAM is a joy to use. Picture images are razor sharp thanks to a much improved camera. I didn’t opt for the 5G version as I felt I didn’t need this version. 4G easily copes with my own personal needs, but for those people who download a lot of information or media may find the 5G option is more suitable.
Had the phone for a few months now, really good phone has a fantastic amount of storage I’ve installed all of my apps and a lot of games and still have half my storage left, the camera quality is unreal especially for the price! Battery life is better than my old phone, the colours are very vibrant and the screen overall is great. Overall great phone.
I have been using this phone for several months and it has been working great. The face recognition is fast, the fingerprint reader works well, and the phone is speedy. The only complaint I’ve got is about the camera, it gets the job done but I don’t expect anything to look really good.
Would definitely recommend.
Have had the phone a number of weeks now and all works well. The phone is fast when scrolling through different menu items or performing any other actions on it. Takes nice pictures and overall a good phone, especially for the price.
Good size screen and very sharp and so easy to load plenty storage for me.
Very happy with apps and programming i can only go for what i want from a mobile.
It is very easy to set up as my previous mobile seemed old in that respect it was three years old.
I especially like the bigger (128 GB) memory on this phone as my previous A5 was fine except that it was running out of space.
Once I’d worked out how to do it it was easier to have just the one press button to turn off the phone. Trying to hold both the ON button and the reduce sound button really was a pain.
It’s certainly a bit larger as a phone to put in a pocket, especially when it’s in a protective holder, but that’s minor.
Overall good value for the price. I’d certainly recommend it to anyone after my first 5 weeks or so.
The phone arrived as promised, it compares favourably to my old s8. I was able to easily transfer all apps, contacts etc using Samsung own software. The phone is quicker than the s8, storage for my usage is more than enough and sound quality etc no worse aswell. Early days but no issues so far barring that it is an EC spec phone which the seller admits is updated to UK when they get it.
Face recognition is excellent, as is the fingerprint reader, which works far better than the review sites led me to believe. The battery life is also great, it lasts all day watching movies etc, so with normal day to day use probably 2 days. On the whole the Samsung A51 is an awesome phone and is well worth the money @ just over 250
I bought this as a replacement of my Samsung Galaxy S9+ (which despite having a replacement battery 6 months ago was draining quickly and the charging port was loose)
I have always had Samsung phones and generally gone for the Galaxy range (typically 1 or 2 generations later when the price was more reasonable.)
I had been looking at the A51 and similar in the A range.
Same size as the S9+
What does it have the S9+ doesn’t:
A better set of cameras, macro and wide (though I haven’t played with it much, it has the same software features and focus option as the S9+)
It’s not curved like the S9 but actually the curve novelty quickly wore off especially as I have it in a ruggedized case. You can still use the edge menu on the A51
It seems as quick to load things and generally once Smart connect had finished it was in the same layout as my old phone.
What it doesn’t have / down sides:
It doesn’t have an LED notification at the top. I liked the different colours, purple for Whatsapp, Green for Facebook messenger, blue for text and emails and a solid green when fully charged
The finger print recognition though works ,it doesn’t work with a glass screen protector (apparently some will work but I wanted the privacy one if definitely doesn’t.) Which is quite annoying if I’m honest. I was used to the finger print being on the back on the S9+. Though being there I’m sure I smudged my camera lens on occasion.
You can’t wirelessly charge. A nice feature of the S9 that I thought would help make my charging port last longer and I used in my car, ultimately didn’t help so again a nice novelty.
There isn’t the Samsung Health heart rate monitor. Though I hardly used it
In summary:
Is the S9+ worth the 250 losing these features?
Simply No.
The fingerprint issue affects the later Galaxy models, I’m more interested in battery life and a good camera. So far the A51 fits the bill.
As a decent smartphone I would recommend it. Not given 5 stars because of the fingerprint issue.
This phone has made my day and made a lot of changes to my life as I bought it which has improved in my business and also quality pictures I always take. Thanks Amason indeed you are the best place to shop and I encourage you to everyone .
Very good device, the only problem that I found is with the system ( you need to update the voice software sometimes if it s not working propretly, I did it just once the first time I used it) and when you use social media to record a video sometimes the sound and the picture are not syncronyzed!
Best is the fact that it worked unlike my previous phone, a Google Pixel 2. That one became totally disabled, and google to their credit sent me another one free of charge. However, that one soon became unusable as the proximity sensor started to malfunction. This caused the screen to go blank as soon as I made or received a call whether my face was anywhere near the screen or not. This is my first Samsung and so far I love it.
My son already had this phone 3 months ago so I had time to work with it. I think this phone is great for the price. I bought 3 more this week for myself and my other children. Just make sure you get a glass shield and shock proof cover and this phone will last.
Took delivery of the phone less than a day after order placement. The phone itself looks better than the pictures do justice for. Setup was really easy. Took no time at all getting all my apps and contacts from my old phone. Its lighter than it looks. When you compare it to say a mid range version of the s-series eg: S10 in terms of value you can not do better. No complaints at all.
This was a notable and affordable upgrade for me from my Samsung J3 (which was constantly giving memory full warnings and not saving things to the SD card). The A51 is a very fast, responsive and great phone to use. Moving stuff from my old phone to the A51 was relatively straight forward with the Smart Switch app.
I’ve found the significantly extra inbuilt storage of the A51 to be great, though once I’d transferred the 16gb of the J3 data across the A51 had already used nearly 40gb of storage; this must have been due to the in built stuff and functionality of the A51. Thankfully the mico SD card slot works well and I’ve been able to load the music from my computer to the SD card on the phone via a usb cable.
The A51 is very quick in loading apps and data and whilst it is a new concept for me I really like the biometrics finger scan. This makes it a lot easier to unlock the phone and log in to password secure apps without having to constantly type in or remember passwords.
From a personal preference point of view, the phone is a little bigger than what I’m used to or comfortable with. It has already fallen out of my pocket. This was a compromise I knew I was making since I saw the dimensions of the phone on Amazon before I bought. However when it comes to the extra storage space, memory power and price point this was by far the best value Samsung phone for my needs. I am currently a very happy owner of a Galaxy A51!
I really like this phone and have had not a problem, being pickey the camera is overly complicated and pictures not as sharp as my ancient j3. Mr Samsung most folks don’t want to take photos of high divers, snowboarders and super action shots. Better to have 1 good camera than lots of tricks. Still I would recommend this phone.
The camera system takes getting used to….all those lenses! Macro is really good, but regular snaps are hardly spectacular. I’ve yet to try low-light and night shots. I must work at it.
Transferring apps and data wirelessly worked fine.
Screen size and clarity is good. I’ve tweaked the keyboard to help ease typing…I’m a senior!
Basically I like it!
It’s now May 2021. I’ve got used to the phone but still find the fingerprint recognition poor, also face recognition. I often have to enter my password as a last resort. Most frustrating. There was a software update a few months ago which I hoped might sort the issue, but no.
The camera does work well now I’ve had chance to experiment. Sound and video quality are fine for me. WhatsApp calls are great fun. My wife and I enjoy catching up with family events. We are able to cast picture and sound to our TV via a Roku stick.
The phone screen is very easy to keep clean, is super-sensitive and, so far, resistant to scratches. I have no extra screen protection applied but have bought a rather ugly but very tough case which, so far, has kept the phone free from dings or nicks.
All in all, I’m very pleased with the phone and recommend it as good value for money.
Great phone. Face recognition isn’t perfect and phone doesn’t auto unlock you still need to swipe but that could be fixed with a software update. All other features are decent. Fingerprint scanner isn’t ultra reliable but it general works 70% first time 25% 2nd time.
I previously had a Samsung J6 phone which I was found was rather slow as it got older and I needed more memory so after doing some research and reading the reviews I decided this one was a good choice. I wasn’t disappointed. Everything downloads much faster, the fingerprint reader is on the front (it was on the back on the J6) home screen so it’s so much easier to manage and I have lots of memory. I transferred the majority of my apps from my old phone to this one which made life easier. Great value for money as well.
For me the only downside is the fingerprint sensor – its rubbish, especially as I like to use a screen protector.
For me, though, a small price to pay for a phone that does exactly what I want.
It’s what I expected also have a Galaxy S8 64gb memory but this is 128gb my first problem was setting up finger print recognition but now I hit power button scan index finger and unlocks straight away. So far phone is great. Only downside it’s a 4G not a 5G but at the price I’m happy
Watch out for the cashback offer. Some pages show this as with 60 cashback, but that is only for A71 model. For 50 cashback has to be ordered directly through authorised reseller such as Amazon, Argos or the like and the UK version only. So beware of cut-price deals through other markets where you may not get the cashback (Check the full promotion details for this and dates when it operates).
