Bought as had a WHICH best buy review. WS not disappointed
Very easy to set up, looks great, lovely illuminated keyboard. Very pleased with purchase
I have had the laptop for a few weeks now, it’s very light and quick, the battery last for around 10 hours when browsing the internet or doing light photo editing, the screen looks fantastic, there were are few issues when I first set it up, the mobile connection option would disappear, this was due to the updates coming from the Samsung updater app, I had to fully reset the laptop to get it back, the issues with the Samsung updater app have now been resolved.
When I have used it for gaming it has last for around 5 hours, the games, I have used are GTA V, Gears of war special edition, Halo the master chief collection and FIFA 21, when playing fifa sometimes it won’t load, I turned down some of the setting and it runs fine, it’s not an ideal laptop for gaming but can do some light gaming.
I have also used it for video editing using Davinci resolve 17 editing 1080p was fine it did struggle with 4K, but that’s to be expected with only 8GB ram and only XE Graphics.
I’ve not be able to test the 5G yet as I’ve not been out of the house much, will update when I have taken it out.
I got this on contract, I would never pay 1,600 in a go for it. If you know what you’re buying its great, if you buy it and expect more than what you get then think again. I got the i5 version since the price difference it’s not worth for an i7. The difference in performance is too small to get that it’s not worth it, just get the i5, you can always put the 500gb ssd in it.
The only thing you can upgrade on it is the ssd and that is from 250 to 500, no larger than that. The ssd is not your normal m.2 NVMe, is the small nano one that is hard to find (see the picture) but not so expensive.
The i5 11th generation is fast enough and for it, you don’t need more than 8gb of ram. The screen is great and the outdoor more taking it to 600 nits is a great option (the pictures are done with on the 600 nits mode).
The keyboard feels OK and has backlighted on 3 stages. Its quite heavy although back is done from plastic, but it feels well-built and strong. Yes the placement of the pen it’s not ideal, and you do have to lift it in order to take it out, if you do not have long finger nails.
Very portable and strong for the i5 specs, not a gaming laptop, not a heavy video and photo editing either. It’s for all uses but lightly.
Tablet mode works great no problems so for with the soft. First time out of the box it has updated windows and Samsung apps for hours with the fan ramping up at the slightest use, but after that the fan never kicked on, so don’t be put away for the fan noise. Front facing camera does OK for video calls, but it’s nothing great.
Yes it could be cheaper, but it’s not, you can get same specs cheaper but not the same look and fell, so it’s an all-rounder.
Again, do your research, know what you’re buying, and you will be happy with it, don’t buy a Welsh Corgi and expect a Great Dane.
To upgrade you sdd, you must purchase a GB4 version of it. The maximum size you can get as today is 1TB, which would cost you around 150. You can find KIOXIA BG4 Series KBG40ZNS1T02 (dimensions are 22 mm x 30 mm x 2.38 mm). Other versions are 256GB and 512GB.
