Just love the S23 Ultra. It’s screen is ultra responsive, so bright and clear. I can’t recommend this phone enough. Coming with a 3 year warranty was the icing on the cake.
S23
I didn’t want a big phone but I wanted one that was powerful with a v. good screen and a decent camera. Had a Samsung before so was used to their UI. Their latest (6.1) is great. Seems to do everything v. well. Slick phone. V. happy with it.
Just getting familiar with it, definitely an upgrade from my S7 (which I couldn’t even trade in, that old ) Not feeling the no earphone jack and the 2 button simultaneously press to switch off phone. Also didn’t see the dual sim? And the ‘free earpods’ weren’t really free? Extra +100 with phone.
For those Type 1 diabetics, Dexcom G6 app works perfectly with no issues (on current software) alerts all work and sound as they should.
Highly recommended.
Samsung have absolutely nailed this year with the S23 Ultra using the Snapdragon 8Gen 2 globally! The battery life is absolutely phenomenal even with heavy use I’m getting between 7 to 10 hours of screen on time per day depending on how much of the day is on 4G and how much of the day is on Wi-Fi but even with a whole day of 4G I’m getting 7 to 8 hours of screen on time.
Doing any kind of task on this phone is a breeze no matter how light or heavy the workload is the 8th gen 2 from Qualcomm at absolute best gets a little warm and thats it. This phone runs so smoothly and stays cool at all times. For example usually the first day during setup phones get very toasty due to all of the downloading however setting up this device over 4G barely made the phone noticeably warm to the touch !
The software is very stable and functional as always from Samsung, updates have come regularly and continue to improve the device.
The S pen is fantastic however sometimes I do have a slight problem with it getting disconnected and needing to be put back in the phone to be reconnected. That’s literally the only issue I’ve encountered with this device.
Great choice for every Note series fan. Very good photos. One of the best display. Great speakers. And the extra stuff you cand do with spe
Bigger, thicker and heavier than the S22 ultra, for who loves big screen and great battery.
I use it a lot, whole day long for games, youtube, social media, pictures & videos, and other apps and need to charge once a day only or even next day. If you use it moderately, will need to charge every 2 days.
Super cameras make great pictures & videos.
It is a Note series with S series merged together, a powerful processor with fast response.
Yeap. It’s a lovely phone.
I am pleased with my S23.
Finally: the camera and the S Pen. Was able to take two separate photos of an “automatic door” sign far away from my accommodation flat with the 12MP camera and it was still blurry. But once I put the 100X zoom in action I could clearly read out “Automatic door”. I’ll post the pictures for you to see. With the S Pen I can literally take notes as if I was holding a book and my favourite feature is the off screen air commands that make me look like a wizard while controlling my phone’s media.
Now, the phone: I am a long term of user of P30 Pro. I’m not a fan of Huawei’s UI but P30 pro is still awesome after nearly 4 years and is more than capable of taking stunning pictures, very good battery and still handles all kinds of software. The point I’m trying to make is that it is hard to beat.
However, I think S23 Ultra made it. The camera is definitely next level, and if you know what you’re doing with photography, is a serious contender for the foreseeable future. I’m also impressed by the quality of sound on the videos too. Some friends sent me private messages on the back of my latest social media posts to ask if I have a new phone and comment on quality of content. This was adding to a “Wow” effect.
120hz display is definitely awesome, even not at highest resolution.
Battery is very good but real measure for this can be done after a year. Slightly annoying that it doesn’t really charge nearly as quick as the old Huawei. However, this could be a good thing for battery life, who knows.
It is the first phone I have with an S-pen and I think in some situations it is great! Certainly works like nothing ever so accurate. And is great tool to remote control your camera shutter – great!
The overall feel of the phone is very nice, even though 225 gramms is a substantial amount of weight.
Now the “not so great” sides:
Firstly, it is a shame that a flagship of a phone costs so much money these days. However, this is across all manufacturers so I guess it is partially inflation and shortage of microchips – we need to get used to this. On the bright side, I can say it looks like there is no compromise on quality of materials used on the S23 Ultra – you get what you pay for – best technology available today.
Secondly, the phone is pretty big. Not unmanageable big, just an “XL” phone. I’m a bit annoyed that the cutting edge technology has to be of this size. Quality of the screen and overall experience make you feel you can live with this though. One advice – when getting a protector bumber, might be a good idea to take a ring at the back of the case too – for better grip.
Thirdly, same as all manufacturers, Samsung is trying really hard to pre-install their ecosystem of apps that may not be suitable for everyone. This is a problem with all manufacturers, to be fair. I just spent half a day cutting down apps and permissions.
In conclusion, having used various manufacturers through the last 10 years, including Sony, Samsung, Huawei and Apple, every one of these manufacturers has some features that are awesome and others that aren’t so great. You cannot buy “a best phone ever”, just depends on what you like.
I like the S23 Ultra and think it’s worth the money and the upgrade. Time will show but my first impression is that this phone can breeze through the next 5 years with no issues.
Hope you find this useful!
