60hz will never be ideal for gaming but this monitor is great, cheap and simply functions as expected.
It has a good menu and offers many different colour profiles and changes.
Looks great and has respectable viewing angles.
A great 4K monitor for a slightly more budget friendly price.

Very good picture quality – have found this v pleasing to use for work, gaming, movies etc, acceptable viewing angles.

One minor annoyance is the fixed height, no adjustability. No internal speakers (audio out port however you can use your own speakers)

That said, one can use a 3rd party hydraulic arm – do make sure to check compatibility with the backplate as the curved design of the casing can interfere with VESA mounts.

    Overall – very happy !

I was previously using a 1080p, 24 inch Acer monitor and the upgrade is astronomical! Much larger screen, infitely better resolution & very vibrant colours. Great value for a 4k monitor for gaming or streaming media, I don’t use it for work so can’t comment on that.

Primarily bought this for watching content in 4K, which it’s really good for! Not really sure about the HDR, though, as it seemed to darken the image from when I tried it off and I’ve turned it off ever since. I’ve also been using it for gaming and it performs really well for what it is. I use 1440p settings for FPS and RPGs, and I’ve never had any complaints. Sure, it doesn’t have the higher frame rates or response times of gaming monitors, but if you’re looking for a relatively cheap multipurpose monitor, this is a very good one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s got a good resolution and looks smart on the desk. Not 5 star as the screen slightly tilts down. I needed to place about 1cm stack of paper beneath the two front leg of the stand to face the screen upwards.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPicture quality is sharp and highly adjustable, however for most gaming applications it’s extremely awkward to use. Most games in fullscreen just do not seem to like switching to this 4k monitor, and whenever launching a game or alt-tabbing out of it there’s usually a lot of faffing about with the picture cutting out for several seconds and resetting applications between different monitors.

Bought during my computer upgrade from 2011 iMac 27″ to a Mac Mini M1.
This compliments my second (widescreen 29″ LG) monitor really well.
The real estate is enormous and more than enough for my Working From Home activities.
    Excellent clarity.
A real bargain at the sub 200 price I paid.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought solely for a PS5 and this monitor delivers. I purchased this after my last 4K (non HDR) monitor met an untimely demise. The difference between the two was immediately noticeable. The HDR is fantastic, the colour range and richness of the colours is quite remarkable and the Matt finish of the screen provides a good anti glare anti reflection.
A great screen. The only fault I have is the lack of off switch. Just a single button / joystick thing that doesn’t really do the job well.

This is a really excellent quality display but there is one gotcha. Watch out because although the display appears to your computer and Windows to support sound, it contains no internal speakers so you cannot use this for sound output. You’ll need separate external speakers or headphones.

Come in early. Work excellent 4K for PC and PS5 also has HDR. The head jack with the monitor’s very hand gives sound to you by using your headphones. Text pop out of the screen and is very easy to read.

Really like this screen, use it for gaming on my PS5 and my PC.

Its stylish for a larger flat screen monitor, solid stand but I just wish I’d read the details first as it doesn’t have HDR support 🙁

No speaker either, but I knew that and its rare PC monitors have good speakers built in anyway.

OK. Admit it doesn’t have all the bells and twistles that a gaming screen has for a lot more money. Like refresh rate and response time. But image quality is superb. I thought that my previous screen was top of the range. Than came this, and it blowed me away. Chrystal clear display and very good brightness. So for work I couldn’t do better.

Happy with this. Have as a bedroom TV linked to a Sky box and an xbox sx. Sure there are more expensive setups but this is my first 4k TV and have not used more exotic models. I have noticed quality better than some others around, and have not noticed any others TVs that make me want to get them over this. It is not in direct sunlight or a really bright room as one review mentioned brightness.. can’t see any problems for my usage

Great picture quality. Works really well with a MacBook Pro through USB C to HDMI or Display Port cables. Took me a while to figure out the control is underneath the screen, but I guess I should have read the instructions.

I got one of these monitors and my son set it up for me because some of my drives needed updating to get it to work, It works ok, and a decent picture, but the screen is not sealed properly because some how, a tiny insect has got in to the screen and started crawling around, one week after i got it. I was hoping it would go off a die at the edge, but oh no, it had to die top middle, so now I have an annoying dot on my screen, not good after I brought it for my picture editing. If an insect got in, dust will too.

It wont win any awards in a PC Gaming award, except maybe best value, but at this price its a winner.
I have it as the middle of 3 Samsung 4k 28in screens (the other two are slightly older), but still the screen is great for office style work, and even a game of Forza Horizon 5 looks just as good as on my Xbox Series X on a 55in HDR display.
build quality is great, and using the DP port means a good picture quality (it also has 2 x HDMI)

the side bezels are minimal, so 2 or more of these screens would sit side by side well (and better than my setup!)

Setup controls are by a small directional button on the centre of the bezels underside and provide the standard options including Picture in Picture.

Good all round value option for a 28in screen.

    Good Value 28inch 4k display

Bought one last year as it appeared to be good option for 4k monitor. Started new job mainly working from home so invested in a second to match what I already had. Thin bezel is stylish and PIP function to split screen between inputs is great when working with multiple computers. Can’t comment on gaming as I don’t use it for that.

Fantastic monitor for the price – I bought a second after seeing the first. However, it’s not perfect.

The backlighting isn’t uniform with darker vertical bands down either side.

The main issue, however, is white ghosting following a black mouse pointer and black text when displayed on a white background and moved/scrolled slowly. It’s a shame, otherwise this monitor really would be incredible for the price!

The only other criticisms I can offer is that it’s slow to wake from sleep (so much so that you wonder if it will). It’s also slow to change inputs.

Still worth buying, though, but be aware…

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLooks a high quality device, especially for the price. Very narrow borders and extraordinary image quality, especially using the scaled setting (rather than monitor’s native setting) from my Studio Mac. Two HDMI ports is also useful. Nearly put off by a previous review saying the VESA stand adaptor didn’t fit due to screw fittings in the monitor being recessed in a circular bay. This is true, and the adaptor doesn’t fit flush to the monitor. However the single VESA stand I bought from Amazon (for circa 19) came with grommets that raised the adaptor out of the recess. It works perfectly. Highly recommended, especially for the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m using this as a second monitor in my home office. Not gaming or videos, just spreadsheets, pages, websites and occasional videos.
Contrary to what a lot of people have said this stand is adjustable, so you can tilt the screen down or up. When you assemble the stand it comes in two parts, the wingnut type screw that holds the two parts of the stand together, needs to be loosened slightly so that you can adjust the up/down tilt. I hope this helps.

It worked right out of the box no problems at all. This is the first screen I have bought that features HDR and 4K so I have nothing direct to compare it too, but I am very satisfied, my gaming has gone to a whole new level. A couple of things though, I can’t get the monitor to recognize the different inputs automatically, I have to change it using the button switch on the bottom of the monitor. It’s not a problem, though it is set to detect input automatically, I am probably doing something wrong. It also comes with a CD which installs a few utilities on PC, only my PC doesn’t have a disk drive so its a waste of time. If you want the extras download them from the Samsung website.

All in all I am very pleased with the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a great monitor for the money, a super sharp resolution and very even and well balanced colour across the whole screen, though hard to match to iMac screen as it is not as bright. Interestingly, it is much brighter over HDMI to HDMI and an AppleTV, than USBC/Thunderbolt to HDMI, so it might be worth investigating the DisplayPort connectivity if you have it.

    Also to note:

The stand DOES tilt, but it was so stiff I honestly thought I was going to break it, and gave up until several days later I got fed up of the default negative tilt, and crossed fingers and tried that bit harder.

The sculpting on the back prevents a typical VESA mount (with both 100 and 75mm spacing) being used. Sadly this ” design feature” has rendered my purchased monitor arm useless. Make sure you get a 75mm only mount and you’ll be fine.

The Picture in Picture split screen option is interesting and something I may explore more, being able to go “full screen”, with two documents side by side, could be super handy, esp on Mac which doesn’t control tab left/right like you can with windows

I’m considering buying a second (the first is not coming back from the Apple TV clearly), but a) slightly less brightness than hoped for and b) VESA mount is making it closer than I’d like to considering the equivalent LG

I’d probably class myself as a casual gamer and since the pandemic started have been using my gaming PC for work too, so my use case for this screen is pretty varied really as I’ve used it for everything from gaming, to creating work docs and also for watching some movies and TV shows, so far I haven’t found a single feature about it that I don’t like!

The screen’s a really nice quality both in it’s build quality and also it’s display, the picture looks fantastic, the colour is spot on, I’ve not noticed any problems when gaming at all (only running a GTX 1050Ti so not the best but it’s still looking much better than my old monitor), overall this is just an ideal monitor.

I was really stuck when trying to work out what monitor I wanted to replace my old one but I’m glad I went with this, I’ll likely be buying myself a second one to replace my other monitor soon too!

    Highly recommend.

Fine screen, using it on its y-type stand which is easy to position. Viewing angle is good at eye level, and have had no problems with screen quality or use – running it for hours a day with no issues. The only thing I would say is that fitting a good, stiff DisplayPort cable in the back is a little tight as it has to go into that circular cutout but it’s not a reason to avoid this screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, consistent colour quality for photo editing

The stand isn’t as good as a dell ultrafine but for the money, this thing is really great. With my eyes the picture quality is on par with the dell which is crazy considering the price difference.

This monitor replaced a curved 22 inch Samsung monitor I had bought a few years ago. That one is still good and I use that one elsewhere now. Having said that, Samsung make some pretty decent quality monitors. This one is not curved, but personally don’t see curved screens as much more than an unnecessary gimmick. The display is clear, bright and huge! The only minus thing, is the joystick toggle control that Samsung tend to favour. This monitor the toggle is centre/bottom whereas my old monitor was worse the toggle was at the back of the monitor!
But, don’t let thst put you off. ItVS agood buy!

Very pleased with the Samsung U28R55 4K 28 inch monitor. Excellent picture quality, especially in HDR mode. Not tried it with games, but with video and office software it’s flicker-free at its maximum resolution (as advertised) and all features work as described. I drive it via one of the two HDMI inputs. The supplied stand is tilt adjustable, despite it seeming very stiff to adjust – find a YouTube video for advice. The menu button is slightly fiddly but you will soon get the hang of it.

I bought this monitor in the Black Friday sale in 2021 where the advert clearly stated that the monitor was tilt adjustable which it is not, the stand provided with it is a fixed metal stand. I have since purchased a replacement stand. Other than that the monitor is great the picture quality is fantastic and well worth the money as long as it is being advertised correctly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBeen looking at getting a new panel to replace an 6 year old 1440p panel I had which will now become my second monitor.

I’m not entirely sure what is going on with some of these reviews as my only gripe is with the stand as it could do with some height adjustability but its a non-issue as I can just pick up a VESA-compatible replacement if I ever need too and does the job for now. It seems to me most of the negative comments are from people who have either bought the older alternative model available on this page and thought it was the same as this one, which is understandable, or alternatively haven’t setup it up right.

It takes a few minutes to get it setup right but once it’s done its an amazing panel, the HDR looks fantastic, and though its not a true 10-bit panel(only 8-bit + FRC) it’s good enough for entertainment and non-colour accurate professional work.

Honestly couldn’t be happier for a panel this nice at this price point. Considering I paid nearly 400 for my old 1440p IPS panel before IPS and G/FreeSync more widespread and this is nearly half that currently.

    Quick Amazon standard delivery.
VESA recess badly designed, most vesa plates will not fit, can use 6mm nuts as a stand-off
which just raises plate enough and provided screws still long enough to fit.
Not managed to enable 10 bits per channel yet for GTX 1070, W10 1909.
EDIT: 10 bit HBD enabled OK with 4K DisplayPort cable (already had one).

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersCan’t fault the screen quality but have had an intermittent problem with the the screen shutting down and PC going to sleep whilst I am working on it – needing a hard reboot. It’s happened twice in the 28 days since buying and each time I reboot it has happened again within a few minutes. Bizarre! Never had this in previous 4 years with this PC and so far as I know, I didn’t change any power settings, so slightly mystified as to the cause.

After spending a fruitless hour with Samsung support, the only advice I got was to return it to Samsung for ‘repair’. She also gave me a few other things to do like connecting to a different PC and the like which would have taken an age to investigate and leave me without a monitor for days on end.

Having downloaded a set up file from Samsung support with a generic title LU28R55.exe the Samsung lady told me it wasn’t right for this model, which frankly I didn’t believe but have nevertheless removed it without any apparent detriment to performance. Odd that these don’t come with their own driver but use a generic MS one. So my final adjustment to try to resolve this issue was to set the PC power options for sleep to ‘never’. Am guessing if I get through the next 2 weeks without a recurrence, I ‘ll have solved the problem. Trouble is you only get a month to return this and I have just 4 days left. Mmmm….

Be aware that you don’t get the full 60hz refresh rate and resolution options with an HDMI connection. You need to have a DisplayPort lead.

I’m using this for general office work, so have had to adjust the resolution and increase the font options to make text legible for a 70 yr old’s eyes.

All in all, quite a lot of fiddling about to get it right and a major uncertainty with a suspected conflict with the PC power options.

    Edit 8 months later

Resolved the issue with intermittent power downs and have not had any problems since.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersGenerally I can’t fault the screens; the resolution, clarity, brightness, contrast and colour depth seem great. I’m very please with the purchase now that I have gotten used to the quirks – Only 2 gripes that I’m getting around:
    1. The VESA mount holes are in a recess and the gas lift arm I bought would not fit. I’m not sure if it’s the monitor or the arm that are not VESA compliant but I’ve not seen a monitor with holes in a recess before and had to cut bits off the arm VESA plate to fit.
    2. All screen menu controls and power on/off are by way of a small joy-button underneath the screen. I bought the monitors to switch between 2 PCs for home working, using the HDMI and DP ports but the menu doesn’t always appear when you depress the button. It seems to want the monitor signal inputs to be in a steady state for some period before the button works. Particularly annoying when trying to power off the monitors while a PC is shutting down.
