Seagate Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S, 1 TB

Bought for my daughter has original 500gb Xbox one . Saved her having delete saves and updates. She likes it cause it light up green.i like it cos I don’t get any moaning about my Xbox is full. Quality wise it good went for this one as compatible with series x I case she gets one in the future save money buying another harddrive if need . Speed fast and no slower than loading a save from Internal harddrive. She downloaded games onto it from Xbox pass and loads fine. Hope this helps.

Makes very noticele noises when being used.

The writes speeds of 240 MB/s to 250 MB/s (roughly) are very consistent without any drops during huge transfers.

Some hard drives tend to have fast write speeds and then drop to a crawl after a few minutes but this device does not.

2 Month Usesage Update:
I have used as a 24/7 torrent download the part of a month (February 6th to March) and a then a few hours a day till this update (March 28th).

I have since noticed when using this to watch 4K HDR content on a PC there were a problems when it was freeze and crash the UI on windows. These would occur when running a movie from the HDD and scrubbing through quickly from scene to scene.

This would happen every 20-30 minutes or so which is annoying forcing me to unplug the divide from the USB port to fix.

Although it is meant to be a “gaming/storage” hub my guess is that my usecase of heavy 24/7 downloading affected it.

Something to consider if your a heavy torrent downloader and wish to use this as a media storage.

brought this specifically for the xbox and now on PC it works well still, note that if you do that same move you need to format the hard drive to get it to show and be able to work with the computer, however it will work if you go straight onto the computer.

whilst the speeds aren’t exactly nvme speeds but then you get 4tb for a much lower price and personally this is my second hard drive now as I like the option for space. The drive has worked since day one and hasn’t crashed at all and none of the files have been corrupted since ownership. the storage is really good too, 4tb is a massive amount for games and other files plus having 2 bumping up to 8tb really there isn’t much you can’t download.

The connection is usb is 3.2 for the better transfer speeds, again whilst you aren’t getting the speeds of the nvme drives it is still really good transfer speeds.

overall a great purchase the compact size does allow for easy portability if you need too, and the light green bar does give a little nice flair to the drive. The drive also comes with a 1 year backup warranty if anything is lost which is a nice additional touch to purchasing this the drives have not missed a beat and thoroughly happy with my purchases.

Firstly I like the fact that it just slots into my Series S, before anyone asks why I got this for Series S take into consideration that the S is perfect for travel and having a 1TB memory NVME SSD copy your friends game onto your console in in minutes is a lot more convenient than downloading it when your own the go or travelling. I also own a PS5 so, it’s kind of a needed thing for when I travel.

The read and write speeds must be amazing too, transferring between the two using Halo MCC only took 10 minutes and that’s impressive.

It’s also excellent if your using dev mode/emulation software. There’s nothing like playing original Xbox or PS2 games on the series consoles and having the ability and nostalgia factor of having it be used in a memory card shaped NVME SSD.

As much as I absolutely hate the lockdown Xbox have on extended drive space with the new generation it had to be done.

I bit the bullet on this ruddy thing and whilst I’m glad I can now have a slew of old and new titles installed and admittedly cannot fault the product at all for its ease of installation or use – it is grossly overpriced when I look at other M.2’s.

However with games getting bigger and bigger, I felt it necessary, especially when I have the bad habit of jumping between four/five titles!

I think this memory is good but the price is too high

Expensive but, necessary if you need to add more storage for your Xbos series X/S. Easy to install and set up (on my Series X anyway). Don’t know if you pulled it out and put it back in a few times how durable it would actually be but, I use mine as a perminant add on space as opposed to a portable device. Dropped a star as it is simply to expensive for the amount of storage you get and has a monopoly on the devices.

If you need extra memory on your series S or X then this is the only card you can buy. 1TB or 2TB from Seagate, its great at what it does, simply just plug it into the back of the Xbox and away you go, its very fast at installing and transferring data. Its just a shame these cards are a rip-off when it comes to the price, being forced to use these and pay these prices because there’s no other options. If you need that boost in memory space then this is what you need, over priced but reliable and easy to use.

Fortunately bought this when offer was on but would still have purchased for standard price anyway. Most games these days on Xbox range from 30-90 gb so storage fills up quick this has really extended the use of the Xbox as doubles capacity and allows to download games from store and play anytime. Please note that disc games bought also take up storage space so this memory card pays for itself. Definitely recommend very esay to set up.

Don’t compare this directly to other PC NVME storage drives when comparing prices. These drives are a smaller standard of M.2 drives and are only being made by the one supplier for Microsoft so much economies of scale will mean a more expensive to GB of storage. For Series X/S titles that require the faster storage then this is unfortunately the only option for now. If you need more storage at a cheaper price then you can use other external SSD or HDD drives which will work fine with titles that don’t require the faster internal NVME drive, and will allow you to transfer titles across when you need to. A cheap SATA SSD will be a good drive if you play lots of previous gen titles that don’t require the fastest storage and the Series’s consoles will be able to load the games slightly faster (but individual titles may still be limited but coding or cutscenes that can’t be skipped).

The Seagate Expansion Card is a brilliant product with the ONLY downside being the cost.

The Xbox Series X is a superb console but with a weak point. It only comes with about 800Mb of usable internal storage. In the past that would be plenty but with modern games often needing over 100Gb, you can easily find yourself running out of space. Now add into the mix a family that all like to play different types games and a xbox Game Pass or Ultimate (which we have) and the situation soon becomes desperate.

The only way around the problem (short of deleteing games along with open familily warfare) is to go for additional storage. That just leaves the question of which storage to go for…..

Low cost – buy an external 2TB HDD and plan WAY in advance which games you want to run off the internal memory. Also get used to moving games between the internal and external storage and for that to take ages and ages and ages. If running from the external storage then some games can have reduced features.

Somewhat Expensive – buy an external 2TB SSD and plan in little bit in advance which games you want to run off the internal memory. You will still have to move games between the internal and external but at least you dont need a calander to know when it should be ready. If running from the external storage then some games can have reduced features.

Expensive or Very Expensive – buy A Seagate 1TB or 2TB Expansion card, stick it in and carry on as normal.

As the Xbox only has a ONE expansion slot I chose the 2TB card over the 1TB. The reason being is that its size gives us plenty of storage to seamlessly save, load and play all the families games without having to shuffles which ones are stored where.
