Well, everything is marked so you don’t have to crack your head figuring out which cable goes wear. And the rear speakers connect automatically to the main woofer (though you gotta give it a minute for the first try). Other than that.. the sound is pretty good and decent for a small home like mine
Great system, Great sound, very easy to set up.
Have multiple devices connected through an SPDIF splitter and all working perfectly.
Th fact that the rear speakers are wireless is a massive bonus.
Only gripe I have is that the manual control buttons are on the top of the sub woofer and the cat insists on walking on it and changing the settings. Had to put a cover on top of it or get rid of the cat.
I’ve had this product nearly a year now. It’s a great system. It doesn’t give the full surround sound cinema style experience I expected but it still is very good considering the price. It definitely improves the viewing experience compared to using just the tv speakers.
Works with my TV, Firestick, PS5 and Laptop (when attached via hdmi).
Also handy to connect to my phone via Bluetooth for music.
I’ve had no issues since buying and setting it up was easy.
Would highly recommend if you’re wanting a budget friendly upgrade for your home cinema or gaming experience.
It’s never gonna set the world alight but for the price it’s pretty amazing very good bass and I love the wireless rear speakers obviously not fully wireless you still need wires from the rear amp to the speakers however it saves the hassle off running 100m of cable round your room, the rear speakers can be adjusted by volume for how far away they are from you so if you get it just right it sound really good I can’t fault it in any way very good system and I would highly recommend to someone in the market for a budget 5.1 system
It’s actually not bad apart from the description says wireless speaker and guess what the are wired well the rear ones anyway
But it’s sounds pretty good considering the cost if you want something more professional you will have to spend more
Very good sounds, upgraded my previous sound system and this new one is superb! Excellent sound, the voices are clear, surround is great, automatically connects to the main subwoofer via Bluetooth. Easy to set up. I used my optical cable in connecting the subwoofer to the tv. The SW automatically recognises if I am using my tv, dvd or aerial. It also has the option to connect on your phones bluetooth. I used the system with my karaoke & microphone and all I can say is it is clear, crisp, bass is great, surround is perfect! Definitely worth changing my previous sounds.
I’ve never reviewed something on Amazon but wanted to say how great this sound system is! The rear speakers are quite directional but if you sit with them at ear level positioned at an equal distance they’re amazing. I run everything through it including a PS4 and Nintendo switch and it adds an whole different level to the game play. I also have an LG atmos bar that is double the price but this blows it out of the water. The Bluetooth function is also really handy and you can connect to it without turning it on – the connection turns it on as soon as you connect.
Awesome product, can’t recommend enough
bought it as a present for my partner. he seems really happy with it apart from the rear speakers. theres only very minimal sound that we can hear from both rear speakers and majority if the sound comes from the sound bar which is weird. we have to directly to our ears near the rear speakers to make sure it actually are producing sounds. And also, its NOT WIRELESS, theres actually quite a lot of wires that the rear speakers need to be connecting. However, the subwoofer is great!
Firstly these are really well packaged and the instructions were easy to follow. My TV has an HDMI ARC port which I connected the main unit to and it works seamlessly. Turns on when the TV is turned on and volume can be controlled through the normal TV remote.
The set up was really easy, I basically just connected everything and it worked straight away.
I’ve never had a surround sound before so I don’t have a comparison but it sounds really good to me, much better than just the TV speakers anyway!
I also really like that you don’t have to have cables going from the back of the room to the TV by using the wireless amp for the satellite speakers.
I looked around at a few sound system and this sound system offered the most for the price, 600watts of sound output, a soundbar, subwoofer and 2 rear speakers
The Bass quality is insane and the sound is amazing very clear, I also really like how you can have full control over the system and set the bass volume individually and turn the rear speakers on and off, the items are packaged very well and come with a free optical cable.
Overall I rate this sound system a 10/10 as it’s quality exceeded my expectations and I would recommend this to everyone as it does not dissapoint.
The Bluetooth connectivity is instant and the sound system only takes a matter of seconds and it’s ready, the range is also amazing as the phone can be a fairly far distance from the sound system without losing signal and the Rear wireless speaker amplifier is great as you can place the speakers anywhere around the room and not worry about wiring them back to the subwoofer as the amplifier takes care of that, the amplifier is wireless so it doesn’t need any cables to the subwoofer. It only needs a power cable
Nice system for home lounge. Easy to install. Like it so far.
I linked this Sony sound bar 5.1 to a 55″ Sony Bravia tv and I was instantly impressed. After a while I delved into the settings more (information found on the Sony Support website) and found while watching movies etc on Netflix gives a brand new sound experience.
This replaced large ugly speakers, our tv system now looks neater, and takes up very little room.
Great sound much better than the dull TV. Put on Starwars too try it out It was like having a lightsaber in your ear. Very easy to setup had it working in 10 minutes.
There are some people on here saying they can’t hear the rear speakers properly etc and need to be close to them.
You NEED to configure the system correctly and you will see this system is absolutely amazing, totally worth the price. By configuring I mean do not use Bluetooth! Make sure you use either optical cable or the HDMI arc and turn the volume up on the rear speakers via the remote control supplied. Unbeatable sound quality, the surround is so cinematic!
Having read some of the other reviews before purchasing- we were slightly sceptical as to whether this was going to be any good. Ordered anyway (as have always been happy with Sony products) and so glad we did. For your average customer, sound quality is fantastic and it achieves that ‘home cinema’ experience. Blows the sound from our TV speakers out the water. I disagree that the back speakers are too quiet- once we had tweaked so the placement of them so they were nearer ear level, sound is perfectly clear. Yes it is not a system, but the price point reflects that. Given how good this is, I’m not sure what could justify the price of spending hundreds even thousands more. Only thing I could think of would be if it were for a huge room, but for your average living space this more than fills the room with sound. Set up was easy & the clean, minimalist design looks very sleek. Love the Bluetooth connectivity to play music from our phones too. Great bit of kit- would buy again.
The quality of this sound bar is second to none, It was hard work fixing the speakers from the small amplifier to the wall, also it needed a hdmi with ARC, mine was somewhere on the back of the wall mounted TV, so off it came to find it.
The setup was very easy, i didn’t even need to read the instructions that came with it. So the sound bar connects to the large woofer, then it is connected wirelessly to the small amplifier.
Several modes available like sport, cinema, music and voice.
Sadly I believe the small rear speakers could have been larger with a higher wattage, but that’s just my opinion.
Testing, i went along to youtube and searched for 5.1 tests, there were plenty of them, and they played a sound out of each speaker while showing which one it was.
They all played perfect, you can increased the volume level of the 2 small speakers by pressing the menu button and navagate to speakers then select left and the right, changing values from 00 db and -xx down ive got mine on the highest value for testing, then will change back to the default 00 just to compair. Remember db the higher the number the lower the level, or something like that
When it comes to playing a movie, obviously it must have a 5.1 sound track else your not going to hear anything special happen.
Tested “The Wall” and “Top gun mavaric” the both played very good with the left and the right speakers playing sound which would normally not be heard, for example i could hear a jet plane go from the right speaker across to the left and fly off.
Some might say 5.1 is now obsolete, but there are many movies, dvd and tv channels broadcasting in 5.1.
So overall, a nice system, plays 5.1 when you switch your tvs dolby Atomos off to hear it
I love it and the price was right, you could pay twice this amount and get 2.1
Cheers Sony for your telephone support, cheers Amazon for putting up with the many questions
Connections
HDMI WITH ARC ONLY
OR
HDMI NORMAL AND OPTICAL TUBE
OR
BLUETOOTH
All sounded good
While the audio is superb with 5.1 channel sound music and videos, it is pretty average for regular content. The two satellite speakers hardly make a difference. Overall a good buy for the price point.
he rear speakers are not paired to the base station – if you have two of these in your house the rear speakers in both rooms turn on when you turn on the first TV then do not work for the second. The set up instructions do not provide for this. You need to refer to page 15 of the operation manual relating to manually linking the rear speakers to the subwoofer.
Chose this set up as it was Sony and came with wireless rear speakers. The rear speakers are not completely wireless as they still connect using speaker wires to the small rear amp, however you don’t have any wires going from the rear amp to the front speakers which makes the install really clean.
Initial set up was about 10 minutes out of the box as everything connects up automatically once plugged in, also has HDMI ARC so if plugged into a relevant HDMI ARC port on your tv you will be able to control the volume using your tv remote. It doesn’t have to be used with a Sony TV, I’m using it with a 55″ Philips Ambilight tv and it works flawlessly.
I ended up wall mounting the front speaker and running the cable from it to the sub in my wall for a neat install. Comes with a paper mounting template so you can make sure the screws are perfectly placed. Looks very neat and fits perfectly under my 55″ tv.
I find I don’t really use the different EQ modes on the device as they all sound very similar to my ears, so I just leave it on Cinema mode which gives me the sound I am after for both movies and music. I was pleasantly surprised how good music sounds through the system when I connected my phone using Bluetooth and played some songs using Apple Music.
The best thing about this system is the BASS, its thunderous and really puts you in the centre of the action. However, if thunderous bass is not your thing this can be individually controlled on the remote from 0 and 12 so you can find the right setting for you. I did spend a little time after the initial set up balancing the system as the rear speakers were a bit quiet, however the instruction manual explains how to adjust the speaker distances and volumes using the menu system which is displayed on the sub woofer. The room I’m using the surround system in is only about 8sqm so balancing was important to make sure the sound was converging at the right place for the room size and the viewing position. It’s a little trial and error but overall I didn’t find it too difficult to get the sound how I wanted. Now balanced the vocals are clear and the rear speakers really give that immersive surround experience.
I have read reviews that suggest this isn’t a proper Dolby 5.1 system, that is not true. I have ran Dolby 5.1 test files and movies through my system and I can confirm it is definitely Dolby 5.1 with separate channels.
What I think others have been experiencing is an issue with the software or media player they have been using to play their 5.1 files. For instance I found issues when using VLC media player from the android play store on my tv and on some YouTube videos that said they were Dolby 5.1. I either got no sound from the rear speakers or it would simply play the front left and right channels also through the rear speakers. However, in this instance it’s clearly a software issue and is nothing to do with the surround sound system.
I didn’t have this issue when using the onboard media player that came with my tv or with Netflix, Amazon Prime etc as all produced a perfect Dolby 5.1 experience.
I haven’t had any regrets since buying this and I can’t believe I waited this long to own a surround sound system. It makes movies so much more immersive and I will never go back to just using my tv speakers as so much of the sound is missing without surround sound. At 299 I think this is an absolute bargain and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.
