I wear these ones on my trips to the airport and they are great. You will have a peaceful time even surrounded by noise people.
I am not an expert about sound quality, but I feel they sound really well.
For the price I think these are amazing. Good quality sound and noise cancelling works well. Wireless charging would be nice but I don’t mind having to chuck a cable into the case when they do need a charge. My favourite thing is the fit if these as I struggle with earbuds and have tried Bose QCs, sennheiser mom 3, Anker liberty 4 and these are by far the most secure, and really light. Others will have better audio sound stages I’m sure but I listen to rock and metal and really like these with a little EQing
Great wireless buds, noise cancelling is best I’ve come across.
Very good earbuds,
Mic quality improved a lot, battery lasts apx 6-7h in office. Case dont have wireless charge.
Had cheaper earbuds previously, which I was actually very happy with, but decided to take the plunge with these as they were smaller.
Sound quality and connection are great.
I wear these on a motorbike daily and they fit under the helmet nicely, hence the small requirement.
The noise cancelling can’t cope with the bike noise but I dint expect it to.
The app for controls is pretty good to set up and change the functions of each bud.
Battery life is less than my precious but these are a lot smaller, so is the case.
They work independantly so you can use just one at a time but be aware, if you have Google assistant checked in the app, you lose this function and can’t use one of them, the left I think, by itself.
Overall, definitely recommend and if I lost one, I would hesitate to buy again.
I watched a lot of youtube reviews of these before buying and they came across as a ‘not bad’ option. When I got them I was blown away by the quality of the sound, the noise cancelling and the size and weight. They sound really good for the money spent –anyone that says they don’t sound good must be a total audiophile. They are very light and fit comfortably in the ears without feeling like they’ll fall out (for me anyway).
I had a pair of Bang & Olufsen E6 and I much prefer these for their sound, fit and look.
Absolutely made up with these. Had Sony over ears and in ears for years now after trying other brands. These are really good. If your thinking about it, do it you won’t be disappointed.
I had AirPod pros 2 and found them awful to wear and really hurt.
The sinus don’t fall out of my ears and you can wear them all day with no pain.
Good battery life, get about 7 hrs on a flight between charges
There are nice and small and fit well. Sound quality through the Sony Connect app is fine. Only issue is battery life which felt like about 5 hours rather than the 6 specified.
This is my 2nd Sony earphones.
The last ones were better with noise cancelling but were always falling out of my ears.
With these they stay in and don’t hurt my ears. Can even wear them to bed.
If you are looking for amazing sound quality I think the previous / other models may be better but these are okay and worth it for the comfort.
Good soid earphones, adequate bass and quite crisp. They are very light which is good and they stay in your ears when walking, although I did find the selecion of buds quite small, so I used a larger bud from my old Sony headphones.
I bought the ecru colour as they were much cheaper, but they do look like hearing aids in this colour.
These earbuds are really light so you hardly know you are wearing them. The sound quality is very good and the noise isolation works well. Controls are achieved by tapping either left or right bud, this can be set up using the Sony headphones app. From the app you can check the charge level of the buds and the case. This app is easy to use and sound settings can be also adjusted and set up from within the app. I am very pleased with these buds, the only problem I have had is if it rains and you want to keep your buds dry I pull my coat hood up. This causes all sorts of problems as the buds think you are tapping them and the music will stop and start at random. Only a problem if it is raining though. Otherwise I am very happy with these Sony linkbuds s.
Resistant, i must of dropped them hundreds of times but they still work fine
Not the best earbuds but for the price they are really good
Noise cancellation is excellent
Light asf
Little uncomfortable to put them in, they keep falling ou
Pros: Great sound, good noise cancelling, long battery life, easy change with tap, have app where you can change the settings
Cons: hard to change the buds, feels like it would fall off
After 3 years, my WF-1000XM3 earbuds finally died. Carefully considering what I should replace then with, I opted for these and although t the ANC was better on my previous pair, I’m pleased with them so far. The only downside is that they are more delicate than my previous pair.
Good highs but seems to have a metallic echo at the highest volumes.
The bass is decent but not as strong as other earphones in this range.
It definitely lacks in control customisation – I don’t want to chose from preset touch controls, I want to be able to customise what I touch.
The best thing about them is weight and comfort. I can easily wear them all day and barely feel them in my ears. This however sacrifices battery but the fast charging compensates that enough.
The capacity of the case battery is very low but that is understandable too considering the size and weight of the case.
Lastly the connection to phone is instant but the app takes too long to load the connection and enable the app controls, so I typically start listening under whatever settings there are for the first 5 minutes until the app loads. I read this same issue in other reviews.
I recently purchased my second pair of Linkbuds S, the first one being bought three weeks prior. I installed the latest firmware and updated the app, but two days later, I almost lost my hearing in my right ear due to a screeching noise. When the noise stopped, wind noise started appearing only in the right earbud.
After reading comments on Reddit, I believed it could be a bug in the latest update (Multi-point connect) and returned the headphones. Two weeks later, I decided to purchase another pair (to give them a second chance) but decided to use them without the app, just connecting to Bluetooth. I used them for one hour, charged them to 100%, and then used them for four hours before encountering the same noise which you can hear in the video below and wind noise.
With no firmware updates or apps involved, I am in shock as to how this could happen with a brand like SONY. I am returning them again and will be switching to some of the other mid-range brands for good.
I bought these based on the reviews they are the most comfortable for small ears. They are incredibly light weight and don’t feel too bulky. They also fit my small ear canals , of course earbuds are never going to be as comfortable as over ear headphones but it’s as comfortable as it’s going to get. I don’t think the noise cancelling is good as my XM4 over ears but thats to be expected. I didn’t like the default sound on the ear buds I found it a bit tinny , I changed the settings on the equaliser (in the Sony app) and added extra bass. It sounds amazing ! Overall really pleased with these fair price for a quality product.
I had airpods pro, sony xm1000 4 , various recounded mid price earbuds recommended by what hifi and bose quiet comfort mark 1 and these are by far the best. Airpods the sound is OK with goodish ANC. XM1000 is like brick in your ear and personally I found the anc poor. The bose were also big but with great sound but were literally painful with the clip around ear.
Let me add that I’m not a fan of in ear earbuds as I find them painful but I accept the need for ear sealing for noise isolation as part of and.
So what makes these sony linkbuds s so great?
Firstly, you are going to say wow that’s great sound as soon as you put them on. There’s a richness to it with solid base that blows the airpods pro mark 1 out if the equation. Its really very vert brilliant up there and maybe better than bose.
I always test ANC to White noise plane background on YouTube and these to an excellent job and a large part is fit (see below) . It’s not going to move the world but it is very good and much better than some mid range sonys I’ve had. Besides when the music sound is this good this is all you’ll hear.
There is the weight and size and design. These are a third of the weight of the xm s and all the better for it. The design is a perfect fir your ear and fits like a glove. Sony use recycled plastic and OK it doesn’t look as Premium as the xm s but with sound comfort and price like this who cares.
Then there’s price. These came out at 180 and now they are regularly 120. That’s less than half the price of airpods pro 2 and the new bose and overall their brilliant.
I wanted excellent sound great anc and good comfort and I got all of that with superior comfort. Buy them . You won’t be disappointed.
Note to Sony– get your mobile phone design sorted and stop that 21: 9 sorted and bring back a xperia 3 so I can use sony with sony (sorry for typos– did this on my phone)
Took some time reviewing a multitude of noise cancelling ear buds.
My decision was made on sound quality, size and noise cancelling capability.
I use my buds for travelling (airports) dog walking and running. The sound quality is very good and the noise cancelling impressive.
Never once fell out or even felt like they were going to fall out. Very comfortable after hours of use.
Would highly recommend
Sony LinkBuds S Truly Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones. This is my first pair of noise cancelling headphones and they are ok but the controls are touchy and the noise cancelling is very sensitive. I bought these to use in a noisy office and they are so sensitive that even clearing my throat causes the ambient state to kick in or cut out my music all together. This constant switch between cause drain on the battery meaning that the buds have to be charged before the working day is over (7.5 hours). I have bought Sony products for years and having deliberated for weeks before finally purchasing I have to say I’m a little disappointed
I am delight regarding the NC. While I was walking, I can not hear almost nothing from a noisy intersection.
It’s sit very tight in my ears, without any problem. The sound is OK. I didn’t know how good there are for talking outside.
I would recommend to a friend.
These are a great mid range pair of noise cancelling ear phones. This is the second set I have bought as I managed to leave my 1st set in gym and they weren’t handed in! Had a number of cheaper Chinese earphones but they were not reliable and their noise cancelling abilities were rubbish. These Sony units are very good at cutting noise out. I use in the gym and they cut most of the irritating music and background noise out so you can listen to your music or talk shows. Ear buds will never cut all noise out unlike over ear headphones like my Sony XM4’s but as long as you fit them properly they do an excellent job. Sound quality and volume are excellent. Out of the box i didn’t appear to have volume control and had to add it in the app. Recommended
Really small, happy with how they feel in my ears. Sound is good, better than other earbuds I’ve had. Got on a prime deal for 99 and they’re definitely worth that I think. bluetooth connection is ok but get issues if you walk far away from your phone, not as strong as one some others. I keep mine in and walk around my house and sometimes get issues which i didn’t get on my old earbuds. Had another issue with multipoint connection interfering with spotify. when connected to two devices it makes spotify pause the content constantly, weird. Only connecting to one device at a time seems to fix that. noise cancelling is good, good for the tube, doesn’t cancel everything but definitely makes it better, good for long journeys, with the sound up and the right seal on the earbuds you can definitely block out most noises. Would recommend if you get on a good deal and want small earbuds that are comfortable and sounds good.
his product is amazing if you buy from eBay another set of OEM ear tips from a different era when Sony was offering better and thicker just a bit silicones. I’m using these with the MDR XB-50BS tips and they perform amazing, sound insulation and noise cancelling are at another level now, even when I’m on the road. No more falling out sensation, perfect seal, 1 mm longer than original, I had to buy from Japan another set of ear tips, where quality is still important. With the mentioned add-on this product is like second nature, otherwise, with the medium size, there is a constant feeling that they may fall out, and with the large ones, you will struggle to fit them in.
There are.many TWS ear buds around. It’s really difficult to find a perfect pair. Some sound great but the fit isn’t so good or they’re too bulky..or the reverse. Anyway, these are small, light, sounds good with the Sony LDAC codec. Battery doesn’t last as long as some others but that’s when using the LDAC. Pretty decent.
These are the first ear pods I’ve bought that do not cause my ears fatigue. They are small and light and don’t fall when I go for a jog. I’m also happy that I can use one at a time and either of them can be used independently.
Sound is okay, I generally prefer a punchier sound particularly the bass. The battery life could be better but I can get minimum 4hours play from each earpiece before needing a charge. Overall, I’m very pleased with them
Ok, so I’m a 61yr old. I was looking for some buds, that didn’t cost the earth, that were fairly discreet, that had a few bells and whistles and were simple to operate. Sony has achieved that with these. I picked them up on the Prime Early Access sale, for sub-80. They have noise-cancelling, adaptive sound and when I speak will pause the track. The phone app is easy to use, very intuitive. Best of all they are small, I don’t want to wander around my locality, looking like i’ve attached a couple of bath plugs to my ears.
The battery case is v.small and light and the buds slip in to the case with a satisfying magnetic click. The right ear bud, has a distinctive “R” in red text, on the reverse side, just to stop you popping them into the wrong ear! I use them with my Samsung Phone and IPad with no issues. I love them. Well done Sony, great job.
I have purchased those as a travel earphones as it’s not always safe to travel with the AirPods Pro 2. I was shocked how good those buds are, obviously the build quality and the ANC are not as good as the AirPods, but for the price you’re getting a great sounding (a little bit bass heavy and warm) earbuds (which you can easily EQ with Sony’s app) with a really good transparency mode, very usable ANC and some neat features like voice assistants, automatic mode change depending on your activity etc. Unfortunately I had to return those because they didn’t want to stay in my ears and kept falling out even whilst sitting/not moving.
Comparing these to Airpod Pros (v1)
Configured in the app to be max noise cancelling all the time and music quality over connectivity.
Noise Cancellation is amazing. Not quite my over-ear XM4 good (even with foam buds), but not far off. Markedly better then the APPros.
Sound quality is also very good. They’re not quite as stereo as I’d like, but a big step up from the APPros.
Where they let me down
Not quite as comfortable. Miles better fitment than the last gen Sonys, but the Airpods are better to live with. Every time I try to re-seat the Sonys I end up pausing music, skipping tracks or switching off noise cancelling. A bit annoying.
And the biggy – wind noise when cycling is terrible.
I cycle a bit and the wind roar at anything over 10mph is awful. Upper-mid too so it’s very uncomfortable.
I’m not sure why tbh. It sounds like it’s bypassing some of the noise cancelling and is feeding it in as it did it with foam buds on them too and it doesn’t sound like a particularly natural wind noise.
If I turn my head side on to the wind it goes away, but I can’t cycle looking the wrong way.
It’s not even like a small amount. It’s very loud.
They’re really good other than that.
Everything’s relative. These are my third earbuds and my patterns of use were based on my previous ones which were Samsung Galaxy Buds+. First annoyance – I couldn’t configure touch controls as I wanted, so I had to choose from given templates for both earbuds. Secondly, connection to my Macbook doesn’t work every single time, sometimes I need to reconnect the earbuds to see them as an audio device. It all seems like software issues so I hope to see some updates.
Let’s go to pros:
– I really like their design. Someone can say it’s cheap, but I find the raw plastic surface on the case and earbuds very satisfying. They look minimalistic and ergonomic. Also, I’ve already put the case in my key pocket and got some little scratches, however, they are hardly noticeble because of the material.
– They are really comfortable. Super light and easy for ears. All my previous experience of earbuds was significantly different. I can wear them for a long time and don’t need to correct their position every 10-15 minutes. My ears are not perfect for this kind of devices and they look a bit out of my ears, but these earbuds are actually a very good fit.
– Sound quality is definitely excellent. Good amount of bass, good equalizer control. Perhaps, panorama is not too wide, but it’s fine for most music. Impressive for the speakers that small.
Features like noice cancelling, transparency mode work alright. I can’t say that I’m impressed, but they do their job on a level that satisfies me. Microphones quility is also good. I think, due to their position on the earbuds, they can’t provide 360 feeling, but I can hear people when I’m wearing them. There’s a microphone bug in Zoom: I can hear some noise when I’m having Zoom calls and the earbuds use low quality codecs. But hopefully it can be also fixed soon.
I can recommend these earbuds if you need good quality sound, comfortable listening (maybe workouts) and proper call quality. Even though they are not perfect, I don’t regret buying them.
Update Nov 22: they’ve added multiple device connection, so the earbuds automatically connect to my laptop and phone when I put them out of case. A pretty nice feature, I feel it needs a bit of polishing with the next updates though. However, the fact that they deliver new features is very good.
I’m just gob smacked Sony have impressed me beyond my expectations. Wow These are just simply Amazing, there so light weight and comfortable to wear I can almost forget I’m wearing them, I love the sound register too Its base is rich and deep with great extension and gravity the upper frequency’s which are clean, under control and bright. These bad boys look and feel great, I got the white one which is quite smooth to touch. Both the case and the earbuds are small and compact making these a convenient choice to take with you on the go. with Crystal Clear Calls, Ambient Sound and Speak To Chat which oh my goodness comes in handy, especially when I could be washing up and still acknowledge family when they randomly interrupt what I’m listening to, the audio will pause when I speak and then resume after a few seconds when I’m no longer in conversation, the Bluetooth is also impressive with a signal which is the strongest and fastest that I’ve experienced they connect to my phone in next to no time and work brilliant connected to my tv where other earphones have either failed to keep a decent signal or even connect at all they are simply brilliant and my new every day earphones.
I have owned Apple AirPod Pros and Samsung Galaxy Bud Pros, both of which have some great features but the Linkbuds are just so much better for what I need them for. I am a heavy user, listening for several hours at night to help me get to sleep. These fit perfectly inside my ear and once they’re in, they stay in. Previously I’d found my AirPods were comfortable for side sleeping but they would fall out easily and get tangled in the bedding or carried off somewhere by our puppy. With expensive headphones that isn’t something I want to risk happening regularly and these have certainly fixed that problem. The Galaxy Buds would also fall out and sometimes the tips would come off and get stuck in my ear. They were also very uncomfortable for side sleeping. After owning 2 premium headphones I was reluctant to part with more money but it’s been the best decision I’ve made in a long time. The sound quality is excellent, the noise cancellation is fantastic (in my opinion it exceeds that of both the AirPod Pros and the Galaxy Buds Pros), the battery life is a huge step up, the case charges very quickly and even with the Linkbuds inside it’s incredibly light. I’ve found that as the Linkbuds are so small I can also use them under my ear defenders when I’m using any of the loud machinery we use for maintaining our fields. Having Alexa or Google Assitant built in has been massively useful too. I like having my notifications read to me when I can’t get to my phone. The companion app is brilliant too. Honestly, I love these things so much. Other members of my household have also stated that they will switch to them when their current headphones/earbuds need replacing as they are so feature rich. Yes, they’re not the top of the range Sony earbuds but I don’t feel I’m missing out on anything as these are 100% perfect for my needs.
